I ordered an item online while out of town and had it shipped to the store for pickup. Got the email from the carrier saying it had been delivered so I called the store around noon the day of delivery and they said the pickup would be ready in two days as they had to "check it into the system." It takes you 48 hours to scan ONE package? I'm glad I didn't order more than one thing, it might've been Christmas by the time I was able to pick it up. When I got to the store it was nearly empty. Employee to customer ration was easily 50 to 1 and probably even higher than that. Anyway, went to the Men's department (escalator was out of service of course) and they went into the back to get my item. The only and I mean ONLY reason I'm not blasting this store with a kilo of dynamite is the guy that helped me once I arrived was so curteous and friendly I just can't bring myself to go thermonuclear. read more

When it arrived it was too big and I never took it out of the plastic or removed the extensive wrapping. I returned it the next day. It was sent back to me saying there was a stain on the bottom right and it smelled. I was shocked, the female I spoke to was very nasty. After buying a set of silverware I liked from Draegers the only other company who carried the same set where I could use a 15% off coupon with was Neiman Marcus. I ordered the set and a couple of clearance items, but some backstory, we recently moved so my billing and shipping address don't currently match. When Neiman Marcus cancelled the sale after several days I called to ask why and they asked for my credit card information over the phone to "re-run" the order because their system could not process when the addresses don't match. I declined. In all the years I've moved around and gifted things to other people I've never seen a different billing and shipping address cause a problem. But Neiman Marcus apparently can't handle it. So it was my first and last time shopping at Neiman Marcus. read more

I went in to look for a couple of items before I had surgery. One was oversized button up blouse, and the other was a pair of really small huggy earrings in white gold. They had nothing available in my size and instructed me to order them off of the app or screen-- two things arrive today. One shirt that I ordered one size large, larger than size they thought would be appropriate because I wanted to make room for the sling and bandages after my shoulder replacement surgery and so I went with their size recommendation and ordered one size larger, and the shirt was not at all like what was pictured and was also so tight that it probably would've fit if I wanted a body hugging fit, but not for what it was supposed to be an oversized slouchy ex-boyfriend shirt that I actually size up one from their recommendation the other, and even more frustratingly was a pair of Roberto coin diamond huggy earrings that they did not have in stock, and they had to ship them to me from Dallas. They arrive today again. I had to order these off of their screen. They told me how they would look they even did a thing where I could do like a virtual try in the store and these were not at all like the virtual try they were so small. I wore them for an hour and my husband thought that I had no earrings on whatsoever. I took them off, put them back in their box and went to return them only to find out that I have to either drive back into SanFrancisco or pay for insurance and shipping back. It's so frustrating that Company cannot stock merchandise cannot show you accurate information. Cannot hire and train employees to give you good specific recommendations when you take time out to go in and you have very specific needs and then you have to pay and go to extra effort to return the merchandise and you get penalized for it so I'm done with them done with them. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent online order from Neiman Marcus. I purchased a YSL Saint Laurent "Loulou" purse and was so excited when it arrived -- only to open the package and find the bag wrapped in a clear plastic bag with no YSL box and no dust bag. For a luxury purchase at this price point, that was already concerning. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a scratch on the leather and debris inside the purse. It genuinely appeared to be used. Completely unacceptable for a brand-new designer handbag. I ended up going to the physical store at Stanford Shopping Center to return it and reorder a replacement. Thankfully the in-store experience was smoother, but I would not order luxury items online from Neiman Marcus again. I took a star off because someone came up and started panhandling me while I was checking out the Gucci velvet jumpsuits. It's called Fashion, Brenda! Atop this Neiman's is a tiffany glass dome, under which they serve high tea service. Why's it called 'high tea?" Because the prices are high, duh. When I went, one of the escalators were damaged and closed off, making it necessary to use the elevators to reach the upper floors. They offer clean restrooms here, and lots of security, although I did get hit up for change. There's no parking here. read more

Upon entering NM, the store's beautiful holiday decor is an eye catcher, as juxtaposed with the building's French inspired detail, reminiscent of the Sun King's aesthetics. I was just going to come in and gawk at the Brunello Cuccinelli area when a gorgeous classic lady named Romina approached me. She was so encouraging without the push; in fact she had an aura which encourages you to try on and feel good about the clothes and accessories. Romina is perhaps the reason why my visit to NM is a pleasurable and memorable one. When I do come back from La Jolla to NM SF in the future, I shall look for her. I adore this store! As one of the few remaining luxury department stores in Union Square, I'm happy that they haven't closed their doors as so many others have in recent years. I often come here to stock up on beauty products or browse the shoe department. I'd like to give a shout-out to Be in the cosmetics department. He has always been nothing but kind and super helpful, accommodating my latest beauty needs and going above and beyond to assist me. It makes me feel like I'm getting the royal treatment! Many of the other sales associates throughout the store are equally helpful, and it always makes for an enjoyable shopping experience. I also highly recommend the Rotunda restaurant at the top of the store. New to NM. Wanted to get a dress for a special occasion, and got some shoes with it. They have a first time code. I ordered these online. First the shoes got canceled and I didn't get an email. I called to find where they are. They told me they canceled. I asked if I could get a code of a similar amount to be able to get new shoes. No. The dress came and while it fit, I wanted to try a larger size. They don't have one here but have it at palo alto. I asked if they could ship a different size to this store so I could see. They could but I would have to pay for it. Okay, I used a code to get a discount can I make sure to return the more expensive one? Keep in mind this is the exact same dress I am asking for, I just want to size compare. No, I can't return the more expensive one. Okay, can I get a code so it's the same cost? No. Or they aren't sure. Okay can I get a sales associate from the women's department to call me? Yes. Except they don't call. I start to consider just doing an exchange as it says on the website but there's only returns. Keep in mind that I just want to try on both to see which one fits better. If the other one is too big then I am still screwed. So I can do an exchange but will have to repurchase the dress. I call again to see if I can keep the discount. No. I have to pay whatever and apparently they don't do exchanges even though it says it on that site. So basically, NM doesn't want me to become a long time customer. Because what is this? Zero customer service. Can't exchange, can't get a new code, can't get any complimentary anything even though I am trying to give them my money. I know it's the policies and not the people but I will be sticking with Nordstrom, Macy's and going directly to whatever brands that NM carries and just avoid buying through them. read more

I am very disappointed with Neiman Marcus customer service. I placed an order that included a promotional gift with purchase, but I never received the gift. When I contacted customer service, they acknowledged the issue but refused to provide any meaningful resolution. They said the order was too old to refund or replace the missing promotional item, and they also refused to offer a gift card or any comparable compensation. Instead, they only offered free express shipping on a future order, which does not fairly resolve the problem. A gift with purchase is still part of the value promised to the customer at the time of sale. If Neiman Marcus cannot fulfill that promise, they should offer a reasonable alternative. This experience felt dismissive and unfair, especially for a luxury retailer that is supposed to provide a higher level of customer care. I expected much better. read more

Started going here 2 weeks ago for Men's Fragrance. I came across Hakan K. who has been the main reason why I've been coming back to SF Union Square (despite my hate for driving across the bridge). Hakan is very knowledgeable with his fragrances and always offers alternative fragrances to match my preferences. He is also easy to converse with and it's not always about selling me a product, we can have normal conversations as well. He also provides me with samples to take home and consider before coming back for my next purchase(s). Lastly, he is a very likeable person and gets along with just about anyone whether it's new customers or even his coworkers. Special shoutout to Margarita M as well for being such a great sales associate and showing me some of the fragrances you stand behind. I had shopped at the Neiman Marcus website several times during promotions and was supposed to receive gift cards worth of hundreds of dollars. After I waited for weeks to receive the gift cards, I called the customer service and inquired about why I had not received them, and they advised me that I would received them. Then months passed and I got busy with work and life, so I did not call again until one day I found time to give them a call. After being transferred from department to department and wasting a whole hour on the phone, I was told they could not do anything about it because the gift cards had expired. Beautiful building store with nice restaurant upstairs, but I just came for the SFGH hearts display this year 2023. Apparently I missed a few since there are no signs telling you where they are. You will need to ask an associate or read articles online to find out where they are. So I am happy with my Two trips here because they didn't have the window display ready when I was here last week, but the big yummy Sundae was there. Very disappointing experience. I ordered a nearly $400 cologne for in-store pickup at Neiman Marcus SF, the only nearby location with this niche fragrance. After driving over an hour, an employee quickly handed me the bag without even a word or basic courtesy. Inside was a clearly opened box with damaged packaging. Staff offered no apology and gave vague excuses. One even tried to upsell me on a totally different brand. I was told it was the last box in stock, yet they hadn't bothered to inspect it before marking it "ready for pickup." That's unacceptable at this price point. I asked for a discount to keep it despite the damage, they refused, and said they might still sell it to someone else for the full price. I eventually got a refund, but it took far too long. I came here to pick up a unicorn item that my NM Chanel SA helped me track down from another location! I am beyond excited! I originally went to the Chanel boutique across the street to see if they have the item but when they checked they said they're completely sold out and won't have anymore inventory coming in since this is a seasonal item. I really thought I wouldn't be able to get my hands on one of these bags, but my SA pulled it off with his connections! You must be curios what I got! I know the suspense is real! That's how I felt waiting for my SA to update me on the status of the bag! Drum rolls... I got the Chanel 19 clutch with chain in the iridescent lambskin! I've been eyeing the iridescent mini rectangular but I was too late for that one, then I saw this clutch with chain on the Chanel website and I knew I had to get it! I'm in awe looking at how beautiful the iridescent color looks! Really reminds me of a pearl! As I was trying it on, I overheard another customer asking if this Chanel boutique have any mini rectangular classic flaps and I saw another SA take out the new green color from the 21C collection! My eyes immediately looked over in shock as these bags are extremely hard to get a hold of! Luckily that customer did not purchase it and I was able to try it on! I fell in love and had to get it! Only my second time ever to step foot inside Neiman Marcus. Both times I found the customer service to be fantastic. Extremely helpful and friendly, that's the first thing I notice when I come to shop here. So on this occasion, I was showing my wife the Moncler and Canada Goose jackets in the Men's department on the downstairs level. But what I really have been needing, believe it or not is a good face mask. For the past 8 or 9 months I've been using random cloth masks that hurt my ears and make me sweat because they are too thick. Or I end up wearing the surgical masks that are easier on my ears but sometimes the strap breaks and get dirty real fast. A salesman directed me to the Neiman Marcus brand face mask. These masks are thin, adjustable straps that can even accommodate big head people like myself, and have a small filter on the inside. It's a five pack that comes in a variety of colors. These are some of the best cloth face masks I've seen and being that I will be wearing one for the foreseeable future with things getting worst all around, this seemed like a wise purchase. So while I didn't buy a Canada Goose like I wanted, I did get some good quality masks and received great customer service despite the fact that I was spending chump change in the world of high end Neiman Marcus products. read more

The calls go to some other country and they keep you on hold for more than 5 minutes, then they tell you that no one is available and they take a message. ALERT: African-Americans are profiled in this store. I wanted to wait to write this review until after I had calmed down. (It took a year ago). I was so shocked especially since I was targeted in the middle of making a purchase near the front door with credit card in hand and having a pleasant exchange with the salesperson. No sooner than she returned my card and was wrapping up my purchase than I looked up and saw a white female security guard with a dog coming toward me. Both the sales associate and I were in complete shock. I then asked the security guard by chance was she profiling me ? To which she seemed surprised that I should ask such a question. Why wouldn't I ? There was nothing sinister looking about me - I am an affluent, well-dressed and well-spoken person. And clearly able to afford purchases in the store (forgot to mention I was holding another purchase in a NM bag.) Yes, Yelpers - even in San Francisco racism exists. Try being Black and shopping on Sacramento St. in Pacific Heights (friends and I have stories there, too). I admonished the young woman by telling her that she happened to pick the "wrong" Black woman to target. On the other hand, maybe she targets ALL BLACK PEOPLE WHO SHOP IN THE STORE. I see from another negative review that a similar incident happened to another Black customer. A concidence - I DON'T think likely ! Had I not paid for the merchandise, I would have demanded a refund. But realized it was not the sales associate fault. After getting over the shock, I left the store and immediately called the GM and threatened to put them on media blast. This would not have gone very badly for them since my business takes me in direct contact with the media and other influential people in the Bay Area. The GM was profusely apologetic and offered to meet me personally in the store if I planned on shopping there again. Having expereinced REAL RACISM in the Deep South, while traveling to and spending summers with my grandparents, I am no stranger to racism. But San Francisco ? Sorry GM and NM, no chance I am SUPPORTING A STORE THAT SENDS dogs to "sniff out" customers. Does that remind anyone of the civil rights movement where dogs were used to "control" Black americans ? And just to be clear, there were many white patrons standing around that day that were not targeted. So what am I to think ? This is a cautionary tale for African Americans who choose to shop there. I hope you are not subjected to what I experienced and NM - if you still have this practice in place - please be "more" discreet. Next time you might not be so lucky and be sued. I am livid. My boyfriend and I originally went to Neiman Marcus over the weekend in Santa Clara and purchased a Acqua Di Parma fragrance. He realized he didn't like the fragrance as we were given a sample. He decided to return it in San Francisco because we work here; mind you the frangrance is UNOPENED! With the reciept, in the original bag. He goes to SF Neiman Marcus around 11 am and approached a older woman. She looks at him, and asks for the reciept which he provides. She asked if it was opened which he showed her it wasn't. She then proceeds to say " well it has to go on the original card". Which he says " okay". She then says well it looks ALTERED and proceeds to open it. Altered?! Anyway it's upsetting because honestly I hate to pull the race card but wtf , she's a old white lady and his a young black male. That's complete BS. I loved Neiman Marcus and I'm pissed because she treated him like he stole this! He is a huge fan of fragrances so he typically purchases it from the Union Square area but has NEVER been treated this way. Im so disgusted.
