A great new bar and grill in North Brewer! During these times we've seen a lot of favorites go under or new projects stop due to financial issues- it's so wonderful to see the successful start to a new business! Mad Kat is definitely worth a stop in- formerly Jester's and City Side Restaurant, the new owners have done a fantastic job cleaning the space and upgrading it cosmetically to make a welcoming, fresh spot. They certainly mix the same strong, good ol' drinks of Jester's, that's for sure! Everyone working was so sweet and attentive, and were extremely safe and respectful in following COVID protocol. So nice to feel a little bit normal again and feel like the world is coming back to life, slowly but surely. Stop in and support a small business when you feel comfortable! MORGAN'S BATHROOM REVIEW: As the sign says, "Amazing Experience- 5 Stars, Would Poop Here Again." Felt very safe and free to pee in peace in this ultra clean bathroom. Stall door was a little bit sticky and made me panic and think I would be stuck in there for forever for a hot second. Assertive automatic soap dispenser. Great water pressure. 10/10 would pee here again. Thank

The food is good and so are the vibes. I'm satisfied with their service and happy they're open again.

@@ road trip post @@…read more PARTY BARRRR!! (is what we screamed as we were walking up the stairs) Notes: * Right above Ipanema's, I believe another party -- but more dancy -- bar. * This is where early to mid 20s year olds get their party on. * A friend of a friend had a whole history lesson for us of why this place is called The Reverend Noble Pub. There's an actual history here, but unfortunately, I cannot remember. He had helped named the pub and thus, our trip to the party bar to check it out. * I thought service was quick. * It's a long narrow space. The bar flushed to one side, high tables and chairs to the other. We had several awkward instances of people trying to pass ("oh you're going left, oh right, oh oh"). * I'm assuming this place fulfills its mission, just not something I'd be down for on any other night.

I am pretty amazed that I am the very first to review the Reverend Noble! Affectionately referred…read moreto as "the Rev," this bar is quickly becoming my favorite watering hole in Bangor. Located upstairs from Ipanema's, the space consists of one long bar and a bunch of tables around the perimeter. Service has always been pleasant and attentive. The only downside about the space is that it tends to get pretty toasty, but luckily the windows on both ends open, allowing for some cross ventilation. I usually order beer or cider (I prefer Downeast), but last night we tried a flaming Volcano bowl, which knocks the socks off those sugary Scorpion bowls and their ilk found elsewhere. Mixed drinks also seem to be generously poured, but don't expect anything terribly out of the ordinary. An added bonus is that you can order tasty snacks from Ipanema's kitchen. I've sampled their flavorful jerk wings and crispy coconut shrimp - both were satisfying, though not life-changing. They also offer a mug club (you earn your mug by trying every beer on their extensive list). Definitely worth a stop on any tour of Bangor's growing downtown drinking scene or as a destination for a chill night of catching up with old friends! I'll be back.

I like the Blackened Haddock Tacos and the pretzel sticks. Pro Tip: get BOTH the "beer cheese" and the "beer mustard" and get extra of both. You might have extra, but you can use the extra on sandwiches tomorrow. The extra mustard is also great with cheese and crackers as a snack. The blueberry cobbler is fantastic! The peanut butter pretzel pie did not impress my husband; he said the pretzels themselves tasted cheap, like grocery store pretzels. I have been trying to get them to add a vegetarian pasty to the menu. They have almost nothing vegetarian in there, and a Greggs style cheese and onion pasty would also be extremely traditional and surely wildly popular. PLEASE ADD A VEGETARIAN PASTY!! And/or a fish pasty, which would also be very traditional. Oooh, what about a Stargazy Pasty with leeks and cream? Now, THAT would be traditional and would certainly get some media attention. I will raise my rating to 5 stars as soon as this place adds a good vegetarian or fish Signature Entree (preferably a pasty!!). That is literally the only reason they're not getting 5 stars, that it's way too oriented towards meat eaters. (They do have a grilled cheese toasty and a vegan garden burger, so I would still go there if you are vegetarian or vegan, but keep your expectations low when it comes to selection.)
