Wow wow wow! I think this was the overall best brewery we visited while in Maine! The beer and the food were incredible! Add in the ambiance and you get this gem in Ellsworth. We walked over from the main strip of downtown and loved the vibe as soon as we arrived. Walking down the stairs to get to the brewery versus the glass blowing shop was so cute. With apples on the ground from the apple trees, it couldn't be more "Maine". When walking in, you order at the bar for both food and drink and then there is a booth/trailer out back where the food comes out. The inside is set up for open mic night and then outside they have a full stage where they host live music. There is plenty of seating outside at the picnic tables as well. We ordered a couple beers, the Margherita pizza, the potato chips, and the Carrot Top salad. I cannot tell you howwwwwwwww amazing the salad was!! I have never had a salad like this and I ate every last bite. The roasted carrots were so good, combined with the crispy onions and the dressing; it was heaven. The chips were incredible and the dip that comes with it just elevates it that much more. I believe it was a pickle dip of some sort? I can't remember specifically, just that I needed a vat of it. Then the pizza?! We couldn't finish it but man did we want to! Add all this tasty food to a beautiful backdrop and we were the happiest little foodies in Maine. While staying in Ellsworth we wanted to try a local brewery and was not disappointed, well we were disappointed they ran out of pizza dough and we could not order pizza, which looked amazing! Located on a neighborhood street a block off main street with plenty of parking is this hidden gem. They have indoor and lots of outdoor seating. The night we were there, there was a jazz duo providing entertainment. Our group ordered a variety of beers, cider and seltzers. The blue maple selz had a unique taste, but was refreshing. So I'll get to it: the beer was ok. We REALLY wanted to like the beer, they sounded so interesting, but a lot of the tasted watered down.That said, we loved everything else. The staff were SO kind and fun and the space they have is super cool. We sat inside but the outdoor space has a lot of seating and heaters for if it's cold. I did not have the pizza because we just had pizza over Pats but we been dying to stop because the comfort vista from the street is amazingly irresistible! I finally found time enough to stop and man wasn't I pleased! The beer tastes just like your grandmother's fresh baked bread. The cordwood reminds me of the Best Brown Oak Pond Brew we use to brew and bottle up to Skowhegan, but better! Fresher and yum! While visiting Bar Harbor, we drove over to the next town to go to this brewery. It is located in a neighborhood and there was a lot of street parking. We did not order any food here but we had a few samples and had a beer. The people working at the bar were quite nice and friendly. The brewery has a kind of laid back feel to it with indoor and outdoor seating and there were posters for live music. Pretty cool place. read more

4th of July early evening and we snagged a seat in the beer garden just before the music started. Our first night, the environment and ambiance was amazing and we loved the live music. It was not overpowering and added a nice touch. Highly recommend the pizza and cheese sticks - some of the best we've had. And finally, have to touch on the drinks and service. We did not have a drink we disliked and the service was phenomenal. This place is so fun and a little less busy since it's right outside of bar harbor. I came here by myself on a Saturday evening and was treated to a lovely live band made up of a one big family. Beer- I got a flight of IPAs, they weren't my favorite of all time but that's simply preference, they were definitely flavorful and unique Food- I got a mushroom pizza which was fired outside. It was slightly charred which is fine but I felt like there could have been a little more flavor- like truffle oil or a garlic butter sauce which may have been there but it needed a little more. Fantastic beers and wood fired pizzas. I tried various 5 oz pours of various beers and each one was flavorful, as described. If you like IPAs, you're in great luck as this place has a number of them... and they're tasty. If you like spice, try the Thai beer. A perfect heat in the back of your throat. It does not matter what beer you order; it's a great quality. We tried a pork belly pizza and watched the food coming out, and the same rule applies. WOW is all I can say! The pizza here is up there with the best, if not the best I've ever had! Absolutely fantastic wood fired pizza. I got the jalapeño popper, which was just incredible. They also have a wide variety of pepper flakes from Flat Iron Pepper Co to add on. Every level of heat and flavor profile you could want, plus a variety of hot sauces. Cannot say enough about the pizza and the very friendly guy making it (oven is outside and you actually pick up the pizza from the guy cooking it, as well as the pepper flakes and sauces) who recommended a couple of options for my desired level of heat from some pepper flakes. The beer was quite good too, and the girl behind the bar was friendly and knowledgeable about the beers they offer, and happily offered a taste to make sure it was something I'd like. I tried Night Nurse at dinner in Stonington and really liked it so I wanted to try some of their other beers. I called from Bar Harbor to ask about getting their ESB and found that I'd need to stop by to get some. I drove up and wound up getting a good supply of beer and we had pizza, lager and cider wine while there. Naomi helped me on the phone and in person and she was super knowledgeable and friendly. The pizza was very tasty and the atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting. Well worth the drive from Bar Harbor! I'll go back for sure the next time I'm in the area. read more

The ESB and Night Nurse were 2 of my favorites. They had a Double and Triple IPAs that were incredibly smooth too. Pizzas were fantastic. A bit expensive but very worth it. Buck a shuck oysters (Tuesday 5-7). Unique AND good beers. Amazing service (everyone is so nice and went out of their way to tie in the experience). Do I need to say much more? Fogtown brewery is a small space, but worth it if you can get a spot. Their oysters sell out quick, so if you cant get there before 6:30, you may or may not get any. Add the $5 homemade sauces. Their blueberry mignonette and spicy cocktail sauce were yummy (we shoveled the last drops into our mouths despite not having anymore oysters). If you're not a fan of oysters, or cant make it in time, the beers are worth visiting alone. We got two flights (8 beers total) and found that there was AT LEAST one beer for everyone. The best thing about this brewery is the pizza place attached to it. The beer is mediocre. The staff is TERRIBLE. They are 100% not knowledgable about the beer. They had about 10 taps, but only 5 on the board. When I asked if they had other beer she didn't know. Except then other people ordered beer that wasn't on the board. It was the weirdest thing. And they were so rude when asked questions about the beer. The only good thing about this place is the seriously amazing pizza. It was delicious. We will not be back here for beer but would get pizza here again. read more
