Apple Maps shows the previous business at this location, but the directions are correct. It's just a stand with picnic tables to eat at and a drive thru - no indoor eating. Luckily, I came on a beautiful day. I got the bacon/bleu burger with onion rings. Straight up delicious! The only employee I saw was very pleasant. The reason for not giving a fifth star is the canned soda (coke products) and the uncomfortable picnic table bench. read more

The food was really good. We had the double grilled cheese with 2 patties, bacon and an onion rings in it. We also loaded it with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles. It was seasoned well and huge. We split it. We also had their chili cheese fries and onion rings, all was homemade and delicious. The service was great. The only thing is there is no inside service. So you have to eat outside with the flies. They don't have a tray or anything, so you need to just eat out of the bag. I wasn't going to bring it home because I don't live anywhere near there. I've been to the old location on Roosevelt a few times and finally came to their new location on Presa and Steves. I've had their burgers before and they are good but I was craving a chicken sandwich after finding out that Krispy Krunchy Chicken on Flores and the Jack in the Box on Probandt were closed for good. They have picnic tables to eat on but I decided to take my order home since it's getting dark and a bit chilly outside and it's also in a sketchy part of town with junkies, hobos and criminals. To start I almost missed it driving by. A small establishment off the side of the road. Has an old diner/ burger joint feel to it as you walk in. The service is polite and very welcoming. The music is awesome because I like old 60's/70's music. You walk in and head to the counter, order and then they assign you a table. I ordered the Mad Mack. About the size I thought, and I'm sure just as messy. The fries are well seasoned. I was correct the burger was fantastically messy. I will say I was not impressed as I was hoping the taste. The menu says Mack season or sauce, I tasted nothing more than the grease. I tasted a lot of salt on the burger which could have been from the bacon but still I think there was an excess. The fries were the best part of this meal, and to be honest the fries were not that great. They were not fried the way I prefer but for some they might be great. I liked the atmosphere, the service, and the potential of what could be here. Now, I only had one meal. From what I seen was people coming in and ordering their favorites. So, maybe check it out and get something that may be good. I will have to come back at a later date to order and try something else, I'm hoping my review will change. read more

So I was really in the mood for a Great burger close to home on the southside. Hubby had heard about Mad Mack and I myself had driven by. Wow what a mushroom burger, i usually have mayo and mustard on my burger but this burger was so great it did not need anything added. Regular cheeseburger was also excellent. After walking through some missions while in SA, we were looking for a place to eat- and previous yelp reviews did not steer us wrong. Right when we walked in we were greeted. I'm assuming the couple working are the owners and they were super sweet and friendly. She explained the menu items can be made to your liking. My first thought was the price of the food. It was relatively cheaper than most similar restaurants but don't let that fool you. It was good. All of their food is made to order. They don't even make the patties until you order so it was hot, fresh, and tasty when it was brought to our table. I've had this place bookmarked for who knows how long; finally tried it after finishing a round of golf nearby. I was surprised it was so empty on a Saturday at 1p. We were LITERALLY THE ONLY ONES THERE. However, they were doing take-out business...three or four seemingly large orders filled while we dined. Listen, I'm tough on burger joints, because they are, by far, my favorite thing to eat. Having said that...this was good. Nothing overly fantastic, nothing worth driving back for, but definitely worth having if you're in the area. Now, you can't go wrong with the fries, which were crisp and seasoned perfectly... The building isn't much to look at from the outside, but you'll find a cute retro theme inside. The men's bathroom was clean, but had a definite odor...like they may have or may have had some gnarly plumbing issues. I have been coming here for years. This is my favorite burger restaurant. The All American burger is tasty, you can also add cheese and an egg that they cook perfectly. As good as the burger is, the fries are also worth the trip and wait. I recommend eating in if you can, nothing beats this food when it's fresh. They have a burger special for $ 8.50 that includes a drink and fries, no pricier than other lesser burgers. Other notable burgers are the chalupa burger, the BBQ burger, and the cowboy burger. I've also had a tamale burger here... sadly, it's seasonal. I've yet to try the PBand J burger, but if I can trust anyone to do it right, it's this place. Unless you are in a super rush, this food is so much better than anything you could get in a drive thru or other burger restaurant, because it is made to order. The service is always prompt, the owners are really friendly and accommodating. Please be friendly and accommodating back, especially if they ask you to sit at a particular table. Service is average for a diner dive. Order at the front desk and wait for your food to be delivered to your table. I liked the flavor of the burger. Crispy, roasted and beefy. They don't ask how you want your burger done. Which can be for a good reason... or not. The burger is slightly overly cooked so the outside is crispy. The inside is a bit dry, which could mean it's a lower fat % or they just over grilled it. Either way, it's a good price and I liked how it tasted. You are looking at about $10-15 for a burger combo. They also have specials of the day. I tried the bleu cheese and bacon burger. It was a LOT of food and I barely finished it. They know how to pile on the meat. I exchanged fries for onion rings and they were decently battered and cooked to perfection. It's been a while since I've gotten solid, good onion rings.
