Special of the week: vodka roni

Just recently learned of this pizzeria in the Kaka'ako neighborhood. Slightly obscured from view, Mad Pizza can be found down the middle thoroughfare of Keawe Plaza also hosting Down To Earth. I will preface and say, I am not a pizza lover. I hardly eat pizza cause the carb counts put me into food coma after eating it, almost every single time. I love CPK but go their for the salads and pasta dishes. Had the opportunity to purchase a mystery box from the local app "Save a Bite". If your going to try something you don't expect much of, much better to get a discount on it! Yes, pizza is pre-bagged and chilled. Perfect. Grab and go and heat a slice in the air fryer at home! Perhaps add on a topping or two. Holy moly batman. This pizza was so delicious I had to then look them up, read reviews and history of business and try to figure out why I loved this perfect crusted, bursting with flavor pizza. Learned the base is a memorable sourdough crust. Not to thick. Not too thin. Just right. And the selection profiles... sooo good! After now buying three times in the last month, I have decided the mushroom pizza is my favorite. Then again, I did love the shwarma pizza but that was only there as a special for the week. Thank you Mad Pie, thank you Save a Bite... loved this adventure bringing Mad Pie into a regular rotation of favorite eateries in town..!!

Spinach garlic tomato and Fungo slices

Definitely a must try pizza spot. You can order pizzas whole or by the slice. I got a couple of slices to try. The spinach garlic tomato was probably my favorite of the two but the fungo was also really good. The crust is amazing and the pizzas are so flavorful. The shop is a bit small with table and bar seating. We were able to get a seat inside when we went. Overall, really liked this place and will be back!

Thin crust pizza lovers, this is your sign. I've been back a few times now and everything I've tried has been delicious! So far I've tried most of the menu: Fungo, Spinach Garlic Tomato, Buffalo Chicken Ranch, and Margherita, Supreme, Pepperoni Playboy, plus some desserts, because who can resist? For the indecisive folks, or wanna try everything but don't want to commit to a whole pizza, you can do large individual slices so you can try more of them! The Fungo and Supreme was probably my favorites, but honestly all of the slices had a great sourdough crust and tasted fresh. The Buffalo Chicken Ranch was especially delicious, perfect for when you're craving buffalo wings but in carb form. I also enjoyed the Spinach Garlic Tomato since it was brushed with an addicting garlic confit. The Supreme probably takes #1 with all those extra toppings and house made sausage and The Fungo's béchamel sauce with mushrooms is chef's kiss. The desserts were also worth saving room for. I ordered the desserts to go, the chewy pistachio chocolate chip cookie which was bigger than my hand, and half chocolate chip/ half pistachio cannoli which was so good I regretted only getting one. Definitely one of my new favorite pizza spots!

Pro Tip: If you're walking in for a slice, go ahead and order another one to save you the trip from coming back. We'd be lost without Mad Pie in town. So good.

I first tried mad pie at the Italian fest and I had to go back immediately. I was disappointed in myself for sleeping on this place! It's one of the best pizzas you can get on the island, and their portions are huge! They have both slices and whole pizzas available. They use Flatiron pepper flakes which is one of my personal favorites! On top of that, all of the staff and management were so friendly :-)

Trying another pizza spot on O'ahu. My daughter picked this place and headed to this new to us, pizza shop. An affordable and fresh option near the Kaka'ako Mart. This gem located in a small area with parking in a small garage across the street. You get one hour free. Parking my 4Runner was a tight fit. The cheese was a hit and the whole box was eaten, not a single slice went tk waste or into the fridge. The meat, mushroom combo pizza was a hit for my husband and son. The buffalo pizza was gone as soon as I got home. I'd like the ranch on the side next time though, as delicious and fresh as it is, it was a little over whelming as the topper. Luckily I love my crust dripped in ranch. If they had a chaser dressing it would be over for me, it's better than ranch on crust lol. I thought the tomato, spinach, garlic was mediocre (compared to Boston's pizza) but if it had red sauce as the base this would be delicious. I think I'll try to order that in the further for a whole pie. We were lucky to see the owner in all his glory making pizza. Not sure if he spends a lot of time there but he seems nice. The shop has a small cooler at the entrance with drinks and there a round table in the back for large families. There's some bar seats where you can watch the kitchen while they make your pizza.

I love novelty stuff. Got the limited Harissa Hut slice that was running for a week. (Their instagram ad got me). Smokey, complex, well-seasoned on top of an absolutely solid pie. There is a lot of crust but it was so crispy yet bouncy and overall delicious. Can't wait to see what the next drop is. Their workers are friendly and have an awesome attitude. Seems like a great work environment! I don't think they validate Down to Earth parking- there's street parking and first hour at HMart is free.

If you like a chewy crust and minimal toppings you'll do well here. This reminds me of Bostons pizza where the slice is thin but large and it's more about flavor than anything else. I guess I'm used to a more commercial style where I can find the cheese and a burned crust isn't sold. Slices seem to run about $5.50 to $7 which is reasonable. It was really hot in the shop and they served warm water on top of that. It's a small water station and I suppose staff were too busy to add ice. Ambiance is messy and loud. Again it was busy so they need to shout out each customers name over the talking and background noise. Every table was dirty because the turnover was so quick on the weekend. This was not it for me but the other reviews seem positive so I'm gonna say this is about personal preference. If you're in Kaka'ako and need lunch for $6, come grab a slice and a warm water .... You can't beat $6.

I've been seeing this spot being mentioned on my social media a few times. I saw some videos / photos of lines out of the door which slightly deterred me from visiting for the longest time. However, after my friend mentioned checking it out, I thought why not (at least I'd have company while waiting). Luckily there wasn't much of a wait, we pretty much arrived and was able to immediately place our order. Then we just waited around 15-20 minutes for our pie to be made. They have a smaller sized establishment, its located kind of within the Kakaako apartment complexes. There's around 4-5 tables (seats ~4 ppl per table). They have a few pies ready made and sold by the slice or you can order your own pie. It was pretty bustling inside, very lively environment of people munching on pizza and socializing. We got the supreme, even though the supreme had a BUNCH of toppings listed, generous is NOT the word I'd use for the amount of toppings. This was OUR fault but we did NOT realize that there was black olives on the pizza (we both hate black olives). However, since there were sooo little of each ingredient I honestly could barely taste of olives. Other than the skimpy amount of each topping on the pizza, it was pretty good. The dough and crust was really good, not too doughy but having a nice bite. It is a very flat pizza, like a new York pizza. I'm not 100% sure if I'd come back as nothing particular about it blew me away, but I think if I got the chance I may come back to try some of their individual slices to try a larger variety (and one that DOESN'T have black olives LOL).

Our new favorite go to pizza by the slice shop! We love that they have fun flavors to try weekly. Our favorite combos have been: Taco pizza , buffalo chicken, and the fungi!

Buffalo chicken ranch, two Fungos and a pepperoni jalapeno slice

I was craving a good slice of pizza, so my boyfriend and I decided to check out Mad Pie. It's a casual pizza spot and I liked how they display all of their pizza options up front so it can help you decide before ordering. I ordered a slice of the Buffalo chicken ranch and the Fungo mushroom pizza, and I enjoyed both. The slices were generously topped and tasty. The Fungo was probably my favorite, it had a subtle truffle flavor and was loaded with mushrooms. The Buffalo chicken ranch was also good, but the ranch was a little too tangy for me. My boyfriend ordered the Fungo as well as a pepperoni-jalapeño pizza (possibly a daily special). He enjoyed the Fungo but felt the pepperoni slice had a slightly unusual flavor. It looked like they heat each slice to order, and they add any finishing sauces or drizzles before serving, such as the buffalo sauce on my slice. The staff was friendly, the food came out quickly, and the pizza slices were quite large! Overall, Mad Pie is a great spot if you're looking for a quick and satisfying bite. I'd stop by again to try their other pizzas!

The pizza is delicious but what I'VE been dreaming about non stop since the one time I got it, is the cannoli!!!! They have multiple flavors but I have the vanilla one with pistachios. Soooo good! Next time I drive out to town I'm going here. I wish I got a better pic of it! Staff is super nice and there's "bar" style seating where you can watch everything happen in the kitchen as well as regular table seating.

Mad Pie is such an awesome addition to the Kaka'ako community. Not only is the pizza unique and delicious, but the service and vibes of this pizza spot are immaculate. I LOVE their Buffalo Chicken Ranch pizza -- it's so flavorful without feeling overly oily or rich. Their Cheese Pizza is also a really good classic, and their cannolis are iconic. You have to get their Ube Cannoli! Vibe: There's a handful of tables inside and outside of the restaurant. They do takeout, but j highly recommend eating the pizza there so you can enjoy its crispy texture while it's fresh. You can see the staff making the food over the counter. They're also dog friendly, which makes it perfect for those who want to enjoy a meal with their furry friend. Parking: There's paid parking in the condo parking lot that Mad Pie is located near. There's also metered and free street parking throughout the area.

Looking back we should have trusted our first impression, but we decided to give it a chance and see what the hype was about. We each ordered a slice of pizza and took it outside to eat. After eating , we walked past the glass wall of the cafe and I noticed the manager handling and mixing flour with his bare hands, with the flour mixture covering his hands and forearms. I didn't expect to see food prep without disposable gloves and it made me uncomfortable. The pizza itself didn't make up for the experience. At around $22 per slice, I was expecting something exceptional or life-changing, instead, it was pretty underwhelming. The flavor, texture, and overall quality just didn't justify the premium price. Between the unfriendly service, concerns about food handling, and the disappointing pizza, I don't feel the experience was worth the cost of overpriced slices of pizza and I will not be returning nor will I recommend Little G Cafe to others.
