I ordered takeout: * 16" Florentine pizza * Gnocchi Gorgonzola with added mushrooms The Florentine pizza was a thin crust topped with luscious mozzarella, rough-chopped garlic, spinach, and ricotta cheese. The Gnocchi Gorgonzola contained potato gnocchi, chunks of chicken, a luscious creamy Gorgonzola sauce, and the mushrooms I added. The Florentine immediately caught my eye. I'm particular about not eating sausage, pepperoni, and other typical pizza meats, so this cheese-and-spinach combination was exactly what I was looking for. I expected something around a medium-sized pizza, but what arrived was this unexpectedly large pie sitting inside a huge, flat pizza box. It seemed enormous! The crust was thin with a nicely fire-charred edge, while the center was packed with luscious cheesy goodness. Random dollops of ricotta, spinach leaves, and these entirely unexpected little chunks of fresh, soft, juicy garlic created little flavor explosions throughout every bite. It made eating the pizza fun because each slice was a little different. Although I thought I was hungry enough to eat a lion, I naturally stopped after only a couple of slices. That turned out to be a bonus because I had delicious leftovers for lunches and dinners over the next couple of days. The Gnocchi Gorgonzola was a different experience altogether. Tender potato gnocchi were coated in a thick, luscious cream sauce with chunks of chicken scattered throughout. The mushrooms I added were thinly sliced and blended in perfectly with the gnocchi, chicken, and creamy sauce. My only criticism is that the dish was saltier than I would have preferred. I think using about half as much salt would have allowed the flavors of the gnocchi and sauce to shine through even more. Aside from that, every bite was pleasantly chewy, rich, creamy, and satisfying. The sauce was everywhere--and that is definitely a good thing. Yum! These two dishes complemented each other perfectly because they offered completely different flavors and textures. The rich, cheesy Florentine pizza paired wonderfully with the creamy Gnocchi Gorgonzola. If I eat here again, I'll probably order these exact same dishes. If you enjoy Italian food as much as I do, I suspect you'll enjoy Aroma Italia's menu. read more

LOVED THE CANNIBALE PIZZA !!! I also ordered the linguine with pink sauce and added meatballs and sausage. It was excellent. I think I would probably order it again but with the marinara sauce. The garlic bread with mozzarella cheese was good but I would order the regular garlic bread since it's less rich and would pair better with the entree. I think the garlic bread with mozzarella cheese would be great as an appetizer though. The ingredients on both the pasta and pizza were very generous. My son and I stopped by Aroma Italia for lunch a couple of weeks ago, and we left so impressed! We decided to share an order of Alfredo pasta with chicken (well... I ate the chicken because my son refuses to eat protein ). The Alfredo sauce was absolutely delicious. It tasted homemade and fresh, like someone actually made it from scratch instead of opening a jar. It was creamy without being overly heavy and had such a rich, authentic flavor. What really made our visit stand out, though, was the service. I wish I could remember our cashier's/server's name because she deserves a shoutout. My son and I both have food allergies, so before ordering we needed to make sure everything was safe for us to eat. She was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of our questions. She also helped me figure out which pasta would be the best choice for my picky 7-year-old and even arranged for the grilled chicken to be served on the side instead of mixed into the pasta. That small accommodation made all the difference since my son wouldn't have touched it otherwise. The portion size was perfect for sharing between the two of us, and we both left happy (which is saying a lot when dining with a picky eater!). Between the fresh, flavorful food and the exceptional customer service, this was a wonderful experience. Only $24 for spaghetti and tiramisu? What a value! We were served pepper flakes and Parmesan shakers on the side to garnish our plate with however much we desired which was appreciated. Service was fast and friendly with a smile. I almost got the meatball appetizer which would've been 10 meatballs and garlic bread for $16 but when I saw the deal where you get a tiramisu with it, I couldn't pass it up! The pasta came with 5 anyways and I ate 4 before I got full. Being out and about in Honolulu is a hit or miss with finding restrooms so thankfully they had one. Located on Monsarrat Ave, with other businesses, they have a small shared parking lot or you can try finding street parking. We ordered the Clams & Mussels dish which came with 4 slices of garlic French bread, which was very delicious and tasty and the tomatoes sauce did not over power the dish. We also ordered 2 different types of pizza the large and both was also very good and the toppings was fresh and the sauce and crispy crust was delicious. Only drawback is the service is very slow and we had to go and ask for water, utensils to serve the clams ' mussels and go up to ask for the bill and take out box, it is a small restaurant and you would think it is noticeable if a customer needed something or is finished with there meal. Inside she goes to a different table while they are eating and try to remove the husband plate while he went to the restroom, and the wife had to stop her to say I don't think he is done! While we are on the next table finished with napkins on our plates and she walks by instead of stopping by and picking up our dishes. The restroom is clean one for men and women, lock doesn't work so you need to slide the lock bar on the top to closed the restroom door. Parking can be a challenge, and it is a small restaurant, so better to make reservations ahead of time. read more

We like to order food delivery from here because it can be quite painful to find parking in the area. I have found their pasta dishes to be quite good, even the veggie pasta primavera which can be sometimes bland. They add a lot of veggies so you feel full from eating it. I have never eaten in the restaurant but the food delivery is always great, on time, and without issues. read more

Food was delish! It was a nice change for our palates and quite refreshing. We had started off with the bruschetta and the meatballs which were both amazing! My partner had said this was the best Italian food he's had, and it's way better that spots in the City's North Beach dining spots, which I totally agree. This is a small place that appears to be a spot for the locals. It is clean and staff are friendly . We ordered a pepperoni pizza and the orchiette pasta with meat balls, and garlic bread. The bread came first and it was slightly greasy and some burnt marks on the bottom of the bread. The portion was small. The pasta came barely warm and the ricotta swirls were ice cold. The meat balls were not homemade but tasty. Although the dish was cold, the marinara sauce was the star of the show. That was definitely homemade. The portion was a nice size. The pizza that my husband ordered was mediocre. He said the flavor was lacking. We were there around 6pm and it was busy. No one came by to see how the food was and they had initially delivered the garlic bread to another table. Service was a bit slow. However, I would say give this place a try. The servers were friendly and accommodating. There were two small tables outside for outdoor seating which was enjoyable. Now onto the food. While there was nothing bad, for the prices, I didn't find anything special about any of the dishes and nothing stood out. I got the bruschetta, and asked for the arugula on the side. While it didn't taste bad, it just sat heavy and didn't feel fresh. In my opinion the dishes looked better than they tasted. Same with the meatballs and the linguini bomba with mushrooms. Aroma Italia first timer! Diamond Head is a bit out of the way for me, but it was well worth the drive out. I would recommend making a reservation in advance. My friends and I went to Aroma Italia on a Sunday night - we didn't have a reservation and the restaurant was pretty busy with two large groups. They were still able to squeeze us in by putting two outdoor tables together, and we were eventually able to move inside once the restaurant cleared out. Overall, my impression of this place was really good. The servers were friendly and attentive, and most importantly the food was impressive. My bf and I shared garlic bread, a large pizza and pasta. We had a few slices of leftover pizza because the portions are really generous (especially for the large size pizza). I couldn't choose whether I liked the pizza or pasta more, they were both equally good! Only criticism is the parking is always difficult on Monserrat. We walked-in and was sat after five minutes of waiting, but seeing how crowded it can get, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation before coming in. We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer and ordered the salmon carbonara and linguine alle vongole. The meatballs were moist with lots of flavor and the garlic bread that came with is paired so well! The only complaint I have about this dish was that it was less than warm when we got it. I loved my salmon carbonara, I had it before and had to get it again. Very creamy with generous servings of salmon. My boyfriend ate all of his linguine, but he said it lacked flavor. My family and I was craving Italian food and wanted to check this place out from the positive reviews. We came at 7:00 and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, they only have a few tables inside. Make sure to make reservations if you don't want to wait! La Bomba Pizza ($31) - 8/10, I love the thin crust , and the burrata it came with, the only gripe was that the price is expensive for one pizza... Linguine chicken Alfredo ($22)- 6/10, not a big fan of the sauce and was not as reminiscent of Alfredo in my opinion. Not memorable. Portion was okay. Linguine meatballs ($22)- 7.5/10, the Marinara sauce was light and seemed more water down than the other marinara sauces I have tried. I really enjoyed the meatballs. Portion was okay. Tiramisu ($9) -9/10, I love tiramisu and this place was delicious for it. However, the mascarpone cream was frozen and not the creamy texture it should be. Overall, It's a decent Italian joint with good classics but I'm not sure if I would return again as it was on the more expensive side and portions were not that great. We went to this restaurant for the first time while my mother-in-law was visiting, and she is an extremely picky eater (limits types of spices, sauces, foods, etc.). They had a tall shopping rack with various, shipped-in, quality Italian foods such as Tre Marie Pandoro, Lavazza coffee beans, and foreign types of Kinder chocolates. Unfortunately due to very small & crowded parking lot - we had to do takeout orders of lasagna, portabello shroom ravioli, veggie primavera pasta, & butternut squash ravioli. Been here a few times for takeout. Easy enough to find off Monserrat but parking can be tricky as the lot is small and people frequent various eateries. I love that there is an online ordering option (always will prefer this). Years ago we ordered online and the restaurant didn't receive it so boo no food, but since then we've had success and much more positive experiences. Prices are reasonable and affordable for some good not-too-fancy Italian. Ordered the arugula salad, meatballs, la bomba pasta, linguine pescatore with pink sauce because it's the" just right" balance like the 3 Little Bears, and tiramisu. This meal was to serve one purpose- support my homemade focaccia! Had high expectations for this meal for this reason haha. Everything was delicious and portions are a nice size. The burrata on the la bomba was nice, there was a decent amount of seafood and the pink sauce was possibly non-existent on the linguine pescatore which was a bummer because the husband called the order in to add this but no big deal. Meatballs were good, not dry and pretty plentiful. Tiramisu was one of my favorites and was a perfect balance where it wasn't too sweet and it wasn't boozy like they sometimes can be.
