I was intrigued by this spot from driving around the area so decided to check it out on a saturday. we got there around 6 and were told the kitchen doesn't open until 7 (didn't see this noted anywhere online) but we were invited to stay and have drinks. none of our drinks tasted water down as other reviews state, but they are definitely sweet. in terms of food... not really anything to write home about but nothing incredibly offensive. wish we would've gotten to hear the live music but they didn't come on til 10pm. probably a better spot to just stop by for a quick drink vs have dinner at pork- good but very sweet sauce and incredibly decadent fatty cut tuna- sauce was overkill sweet but generally this was fine mini tacos- really heavy mayo, chicken felt canned consistency and there was no pico de gallo read more

Friday night we headed to Tilila to listen to Lee Burgos. Once we got there nobody greeted us at the entrance it was like a self service, you can sit where ever. The chips and salsa didn't taste good. The chips tasted like platanito chips from the bodega and the salsa that came with was just bad ( it was salty and heavy).We ordered the chicken marsala (pollo para el alma) and as you can see in the picture the chicken was not cleaned properly since it had a lot of extra gooey skin. As soon as I saw that I lost my appetite.Also, the fried platains and yuca fries were very large and it was hard to get small bites from them. The waiter that was serving us was rude. She asked us if we could move to another table because a group of six came and they wanted to sit together, like what!? This is just a plain disrespectful and disorganized place. The only good okay part was Lee Burgos singing. But we couldn't enjoy it either because she wrote on her instagram account that she was going to be at Tilila at 10:30pm and the Tilila instagram wrote that she was going at 11pm so we got there around 10pm. Was there today with my husband for happy hour, had the sangria and it was SUPER good. Had a chimichuri, my husband had a sandwich and we had the batata fries. Food was good and and well presented. I do love this place but I can't give it a 4/5 based on my experience last night. Most of the staff were pretty good and the drinks ARE NEVER watered down. Food is pretty decent too. However, one waitress (NOT Paula) with the brassy orange hair was extremely rude. Keep in mind, it was not busy and she was just standing there, at the end of the bar, staring off into space. I called for her as I couldn't find my waitress to get my check. She stared above my head. She then looks down and then at my shoulder. I stopped by Tilila on a Saturday around 5pm during NYC recently indoor dining. We were greeted at the door and we sat indoors. The decor is so beautiful! Deff reminds me of a traditional country side house in the Dominican Republic. They have a variety of small plates, and 3 strong dinner plates, but there is variety and a little bit for everyone. I love the décor in this place and the staff is very friendly. They have happy hour drinks like margaritas for $5. The margaritas were very tasty and the girl that helped us was very sweet. She kept coming back to check up on us. I tried a couple of things from the menu but my favorite has the cheese yucca balls. They are very delicious. They have delicious sauces, I kept asking for more sauce. Next time I go I'm going to ask for a whole bowl of their green sauce. I had the Ricki it was ok. I placed my order for chicken with wasakaka. my friend got the paella. her paella came out first. after 20 minutes I asked the waiter where my food was and he said these exact words "i'm sorry, but the chefs were in the back arguing whether to give you the frozen chicken or the fresh chicken, but don't worry you're getting the fresh one, just 5 more minutes"..well ok then. A sweet gem in the Bronx! This restaurant/bar has a cozy, Dominican, casa de campo feel. The decor and atmosphere add to the restaurant's cozy environment. The drinks were delicious, and the bartender was very generous with the liquor. I ordered a coconut mojito, my sister ordered a passion fruit mojito and my boyfriend ordered "the passion mule" we were all very pleased with our drinks- the taste and presentation were on point. Order the platter- the chicharrón is delicious; succulent and crunchy. Also in the platter is chicharrón de pollo, tostones, a few shrimp, and casave. Such a nice surprise... on a Monday Night. Celebrating my friend's Birthday we ended up at La casa azul aka Tilila Casa Pública & Cocina for Karaoke night. The Dj was amazing, the food was delicious, the crowd was mature (but not old) but best of all were the folks that got up to sing Spanish songs from Merengue to Salsa y baladas. This place is a quaint little place- it was my first time last night- there was live music, the service was nothing out of this world, like we weren't checked on often. My friend and I ordered the wings and the kibobs and along the night about 3 beers each. We both got sick within hours - we believe it was the food.
