Nice, casual Lebanese/American brunch spot in Edgewater. I ordered the Avocado Chipotle Sandwich ($16), which was really tasty. It had a generous amount of avocado, melty cheddar cheese, tasty bacon, properly cooked over medium eggs, and flavorful chipotle mayo which made this sandwich above average. The portion size was pretty large, so the price was justified. The side salad was also decent. While this place calls itself Lebanese/American, there were definitely more classic American breakfast/brunch options than Lebanese options. The place itself is very clean and has a nice coffee shop kind of vibe. There is some nice modern decor along the walls. The staff are friendly and the service speed to get our food was pretty quick, but it took them a while to get us the check later on. There is a decent amount of seating and there were still some empty tables on a Sunday morning. There is a parking lot right outside, which is convenient. Overall, I think Madison Cafe and Grill deserves a solid 4 stars for high quality brunch food in a nice environment. We loved everything we ordered: - Avocado Chipotle Sandwich ($15+) - Fava Beans ($12+) - Mango Juice ($5+) - Tea Pot ($4+) The Avocado Chipotle Sandwich (which I asked for without the Chipotle sauce) was perfection, with fresh avocado, cheddar cheese, crispy bacon and runny sunny side eggs on a brioche bun. The side salad could've been fresher and better with some olive oil or lemon. My bf ordered the Fava Beans, which was one of the Mediterranean breakfast options, and loved it. The Mango Juice was presented like a tropical cocktail with an umbrella and strawberry, which made it look quite fancy. As for the tea, they had a selection of teas to choose from and it came with a cookie. I asked for some milk for the tea, which the server kindly steamed without my asking. Our server was very welcoming and came to check on us regularly to make sure we were enjoying our food. The only issue I had was that they'd charged an additional 4% in credit card fees without informing me. Considering how attentive our server was, I was surprised it wasn't mentioned. After seeing all of the amazing reviews for Madison Café & Grill's Edgewater and Cresskill locations, I thought it would be a great place for my friend and I to enjoy a leisurely brunch. The Edgewater location was at the end of a small strip mall within a larger outdoor retail area. I cannot speak to the inside of the restaurant, but the spacious patio was beautifully adorned with flowers and umbrella-covered tables. The outdoor dining area might have been overlooking a busy street on one side and a parking lot on the other, but it still managed to be tranquil. Our server was nice, but she checked in on us less and less as the meal wore on, which was irritating. It was a hot day, so I ordered the Minted Lemonade, which did not disappoint! It possessed the perfect balance of mint and citrus, without being too sweet or too tart; it really was the perfect seasonal beverage! The Fattoush Salad was similarly light and refreshing with it its mixture of fresh greens, radish, tomatoes, cucumber, mint, and onion. It was topped with large sheets of toasted pita bread, sprinklings of sumac, and a lemon vinaigrette. I had forgotten to request that the dressing come on the side, so I was disappointed to discover how much dressing had been used, but, aside from that, I enjoyed the salad, which managed to include as many toppings, as it did lettuce (or what I like to call "filler", haha). Lastly, I had asked for Grilled Shrimp as a topping, but a single skewer of the shellfish came on a separate plate. At first I was disappointed at the added work needed to pull the shrimp off the stick and toss them into my salad, but I supposed that the fact that they were hot meant that they needed to be served separately to avoid softening the vegetables. I will say that the shrimp were plump and perfectly grilled, though. I thought the Madison Café & Grill had the perfect cozy, relaxed vibe for a healthy, light brunch.
