Dr. Gratzel clearly explained what was going to happen before we started. I was previously shown 3d images and was ready to have my old silver filling removed and the hairline Crack to be repaired. In 50 minutes flat I was done! I did not even feel the pinch of the needle as I was already pre numbed. She let me know step by step what was happening. She even validated my hormonal sensitivity! I called and was able to be seen on short notice for concerns about a cracked composite crown, while visiting family in NYC. The staff at reception were knowledgeable about what insurance was accepted, and equally helpful after the visit about what to expect as reimbursement from insurance. I went in to see Dr. Plansky in extreme pain. She told me I needed my wisdom tooth out. Never having had anything like that I was very nervous. But everyone from the dentist to the staff to the dental assistant to the periodontist who actually pulled my tooth was great. I can't say I enjoyed the experience, but for having a tooth pulled it was as good as could be. I healed really quickly and everything was perfect. I went to see Dr. Ellen Greene based on the fabulous reviews from everyone in my office. Literally, everyone in my office goes there. I am totally terrified of the Dentist and hadn't been in a few years so I was especially nervous to see them. I had the first appointment at 7:30am (wanted to get it over with ASAP) and even though I was late, they were pretty gracious about it. The hygienist asked me how I was feeling and my teeth were and I told her I was feeling pretty nervous. She was really nice about it, offered me some nitrous (which on hindsight, I should have taken cause it's fun) but I declined. She numbed my gums to make the deep cleaning better and honestly, it wasn't as bad as I thought. She was really careful and when I finished my teeth felt smooth and clean. Dr Greene came in after I was done with my cleaning and took a look at my teeth and made sure everything was okay. She asked me if I had any questions or concerns. Then they gave me the best goody bag including an electric toothbrush! several regular toothbrushes, floss, and toothpaste (perfect for the work desk drawer). I asked what the price was if insurance didn't cover the costs (which mean did) and it seemed pretty pricey. Cleaning and x-rays could cost about to $250-300 bucks, so call ahead to make sure you're all set. Dr. Greene is hands down the best dentist I have ever had. While I've never been scared of visits to the dentist I haven't always looked forward to them as I've heard of unnecessary procedures and other unsavory tactics undertaken in the interest of making an extra buck. It's even happened to me when a previous dentist put some archaic styled caps on my teeth as opposed to giving me simple bonding.This would never happen with Dr. Greene. She really really cares about her patients and their well being and she's always been infinitely patient with me and my sometimes scattermindedness (especially with my Invisalign). MDA is the best dentist I've had in NYC. Patient comfort appears to be their number one priority. They also try to give patients the same hygienist each time which is kind of nice and different from most dentists which can feel like a factory of rotating hygienists. Drs Green are very nice and don't push products (something that has irked me with other dentists in NY). The front desk is great and very accommodating of schedule changes. My first visit to Madison Dental Arts was a free consultation for Invisalign on the recommendation of a coworker. I had been looking for a larger firm to provide my treatment because (pro-tip) it allows for a better cost structure, but I digress. I've done my research and had another consultation elsewhere so I had a pretty good idea of what I need/want, the cost and length of treatment. Unlike the other provider, Dr. Gratzel's assessment fell more solidly within my expectations, and because MDA is of a certain size, the down payment and plan are manageable. Dr. Gratzel took time to explain exactly what the course of treatment would be, how the aligners work and gave a thorough description of Invisalign levels and recent changes. Her interpersonal communication is quite good, but I find most dentist and dental assistants personable. I had previously considered using one of the online services, but really wanted someone I could contact and visit in-person. I do have another preferred dental provider in the city, but that firm is small and so not the right venue for this. I've decided to continue treatment at MDA due to my interactions with the staff as a whole -- I've interacted so far with 6 team members -- hopefully all goes well since I'm wedded to them for at least 8 months. tl;dr - great staff and service; will continue to use read more

AVOID. I came here to get my teeth cleaned and made sure to ask if my insurance was accepted when I got to the front desk. I was told it was accepted, and I gave all of my information. Later I am hit with a huge bill for a cleaning and they told me they don't participate with my insurance. They did absolutely nothing to help me and we're very rude to me every time I called. This is all their fault so I find this extremely unethical. They obviously only care about money and not their patients. Can't recommend to avoid this place enough. UPDATE: I had called the office multiple times asking them to please do something for me. The last time I had called I had said I was going to write a Yelp review if they didn't do the right thing. Apparently they think most people are bluffing when they say that. I get a call after I post it and they said "oh we were just about to call you and offer to fix it but the review was already up" which is obviously a lie since I had asked them multiple times to do something. Then they proceed to tell me over the phone that if I took down my review they would "take care of it for me." I emailed after the call to ask them what they were going to do and long story short they wouldn't tell me in writing how they were going to help and just kept trying to call me. Obviously because they didn't want a paper trail. So they never answered my email about what they were going to do for me. That was a week ago. Basically they wanted me to take down my review without actually helping me. That's not how it works. First you help and fix the situation...THEN I write a good review about how you were helpful. This company went through a lot of trouble to avoid voiding my bill. Would have been much less of a process if they were good people. read more

I've been going to Dr. David Greene for about 8 years. I was referred to him by an office colleague and he is just awesome. He's never done my teeth wrong. The office on Madison & 41st St is spotless, the hygienists are always friendly and very willing to give you that numbing gel if you have sensitivity during your cleaning. It's as if they know that you hate being there, so they all do try to make your visit as pleasant as possible. I have health insurance, so I can't honestly comment on the prices, but I will say that Madison Dental Arts are not cheaters (e.g. they won't tell you that you need a filling when you really don't - this has happened to me before with a different dentist in Manhattan). For several months i had been searching for a pediatric dentist for my 4 year old son who has had some severe dental issues. I was sick for days trying to find solutions and answers to all of his mouth problems, without any resolutions. Every single dentist i visited just wanted to drill into his baby teeth without any other alternatives. Ive literally been to 7 pediatric dentists between Queens /Long Island, none of whom can compare to Dr. Jamie Cohn at MDA. Dr Jamie Cohn saved my son's little teeth!!!!! She not only explained to me the process of what was occurring but she gave me OPTIONS!!! She listened to every concern i had and reassured me she could help. Madison Dental Arts.....don't let the name fool you there is no art going on here ...just standard Dentistry. The work I had done was standard and the cleaning I had was subpar. DR. GREENE CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN UNNECESSARY ROOT CANAL!!!! PLAIN INCOMPETENCE. That cost me an additional $1695.00 for nothing!!! It's too bad they don't give Dentists classes in business. These Dentists, Dr Greene (both husband and wife) purchased the client list from my Dentist who retired. Too bad they are shady business people. THEY CHARGE TWO TO THREE TIMES THE AMOUNT OF OTHER DENTISTS. They are plain and simple rip-off artists. Health care plans pay a cut rate to all medical professionals. As an individual that pays out of pocket I don't expect to pay a cut rate ..... just a fair rate. Not a rate 2 to 3 times that of other Dentists all over town. You paid for a client list and you let cash customers walk out the door? Shame on you. When asking about my bill I was given an attitude by the woman Bruney at the front desk. She spoke sarcastically and belittling towards me for no reason at all. The last time I walked in she looks at me and sarcastically says "There's my pal!" Who needs that? You are Dentists providing a service to people. There is no place for thieves and attitudes In an update .. If you have to pay out of pocket for Dental coverage I found Vital Savings by Aetna. It's a membership card for one year for $75. They give you a website of dentists to choose from. Also they list the prices that you will pay for any kind of work It insures that you will know the costs and don't wind up in the hands of horrible, unprofessional, price gouging, greed monsters like Madison Dental Arts. I can't stress enough what horrible people they are at Madison Dental Arts. Taking advantage of those not fortunate enough to have health insurance by charging them multiples of what you get paid from those covered by insurance is inexcusable. Just plain criminal. Madison Dental Arts you are the BAD GUYS. You should be ashamed of yourself for your practices. Madison Dental Arts is a great example of what is wrong with Dental and Health Care in this country. Being a travel nurse, I have to change my dental providers frequently so it's always tricky finding the right one. I got lucky here. I got an appt pretty quickly and was treated with quality care. After the full mouth X-rays, I got a thorough cleaning by a professional hygienist and then the Dentist came in to review everything. I was comfortable the entire visit and was out of there within one hour. At the end, I was given a gift bag with all sorts of treats including a battery operated toothbrush!
