My fave Slo Hike! It is the perfect amount of challenging, but also one you can do with a friend and chat without being out of breath! The views are gorgeous at the top! Highly recommend doing this hike and then grabbing lunch at the Madonna!

This hike is one of my favorites in SLO because its not too long or hard. Most of the way up is a dirt road but at the top it's not. During Christmas time there is a light up Christmas tree at the top which is popular and fun to hike to. A lot of people mountain bike on this trail so hikers, be considerate. My only complaint is that I have gotten lost many times on the way down. There are some signs but you really can't tell what they mean they show a lemon. At the beginning/bottom of the hike there is a parking lot. There is also another part of the hike that goes to a neibghorhood and is very confusing to find your way back to where you parked on the other side of the mountain.

I have been hiking Madonna regularly for the past 5 years and it is currently my favorite with the new route around the right side past the M. Madonna usually has decent parking except it is tight at peak times. Bottom to top and back is around 1.5 hrs which is nice. As I mentioned before, the nbew addition goes to the M and then works it way down on a beautiful new trail. This route will run you closer to 50 minutes and it lets you jog or walk down an a decent pace. Any route you take, the scenery is beautiful. Thi s is one of my favorite places to just breathe and take it all in.

I'm not a real big hiker but this was a really good hike trail. The trail is good if your a beginner or intermediate. It is about 2 miles. Bring good hiking shoes and a walking stick. There are different trails you can take. You cant get lost. This trail is good if you ride mountain bikes. Also bring water bottles, snacks, sunglasses, and a hat.

Fun hike, alittle uphill but not strenuous. Easy to park and the views were spectacular!

The map trail on the board at the entrance was very confusing to us. As we walked, we followed the yellow arrow trail, but there was also an orange arrow as well. The trail was narrow of about 12 to 18 inches at times and rocky in some areas. It had a change of elevation. It was not just a flat walk through a field, but up and down the surrounding hills. There were wildflowers blooming along the way. Some sections went through an area which had trees, but otherwise the trail was mostly open, which would make it hot in warm weather. There are little bridges to cross, but the streams are dry right now. Made for some interesting photos. You also have to pass over a few cattlecrossings. Next time we revisit this trail, we will follow the orange arrow from the parking lot and see how we like that part of the trail. The distance listed on the board was very confusing. It took us two hours just to do the yellow arrow trail. I am always happy to do a loop trail so I don't feel like I am lost. I was so happy to finally see the parking lot below as we transversed the hill.

My journey with…read morethem started over 10 years ago when I was looking for a place to service my Rad Rover e-bike. I first took it to CBO (it was downhill from my house) but they stuck their noses up in the air--they were not going to work on a silly ebike! I rode over to Foothill, and talked with the staff there about what I wanted to do, and they were happy to help me. About $1000 later my Rad was super Rad, and Foothill had a customer for life. Since then I have literally spent THOUSANDS of dollars there--purchased 4 bikes (so far) from them and a whole slew of accessories--all because Josh and the staff were willing to talk to an e-bike kook. No matter how crazy an idea I have for my bikes, the gang there will listen, weigh out the pros and cons of my decision (many times saving me from myself), and then execute! So if you are looking for a new bike, or need your old bike serviced, look no further than Foothill Cyclery!

Make sure you have plenty of time as there is quite a bit to see. We had a little over an hour and weren't able to see everything. We parked at the parking village drive parking garage, which was $10. There are 2 trails that head to the entrance arch shown in the picture..the first we ran across connected to the living quarters as was a narrow trail in the grass leading to the woods. This is a tad more challenging as the other trail is a gravel road with a slight incline and this route is a small path through the woods ( incline, decline, over branches and roots, etc). After about 14 mins it connects the gravel travel. To access from the gravel trail start from the parking garage opposite of the parking garage entrance there is a sidewalk path leading to a bridge, cross the bridge and you'll be on your way. Immediately, we saw some horses wandering around and crossing us on the trail. They were calm and a pleasant surprise. I won't post much of our photos, but there are lots of interesting structures that gave me a burning man feel. Lots of graffiti too, not sure if that is welcome or just vandalism. This was a nice change of pace trail and I would recommend.

Other reviews have…read moregood directions but I highly recommend going on a weekend so you don't have to worry about finding parking. There's also a parking garage that isn't too far, in addition to the nearby staff lots. Trail is a fire road, and occasionally there are cars/trucks on it, so stay aware. You'll eventually come to a route to your right with a bridge for a hidden trail, but keep going to the left to get to the graveyard - plan to spend an hour or two if you really want to wander around and see all the structures. The trail itself is shady, but several of the projects are out in the open - take sunblock and water, and use common sense. For better or worse, most of the architecture displays are run-down, broken, and/or vandalized with graffiti - it lends a cool dystopian vibe to the area but it's a shame that the university let them get so damaged. Still cool to explore, though, stop by to take a look and get in some steps on a nice day!

Not only did it take a whole week for me to collect my bicycle, but it came back very dirty and obviously had not been well maintained at all. To make things worse, the bill came out to around $200. When I asked why it was so high, they told me they had added a bunch of extra work but none of it was clearly explained or approved beforehand. Apparently they charged me for things like cable adjustments, brake tuning, and a "general tune-up," none of which I asked for. There was even a cleaning/service fee, which makes no sense because the bike was still dirty when I got it back. At no point did anyone call or check in to ask if I wanted these services done. It felt like they just piled on extra charges to pad the bill. As a matter of fact, I have been here several times before, so I expected better customer service, but unfortunately that's not the case. The lack of communication, transparency, and attention to detail on your part is astonishing, and I feel like I have been misled rather than assisted. All in all, considering the lengthy waiting time, the state of my bicycle upon returning it to me, as well as suspicious charges, it would be hard for me to recommend this place.

My girlfriend did NOT want me getting back on a bike, but I insisted Walley had the perfect answer for my safety concerns. He recommended I get Electric Recumbent Trike, Cattrike, that would afford me the opportunity to get around town with equal effort. The harder you ride, the more the engine kicks in to get you up to speed. What I find most fascinating about my E-Trike is how much more often I'd hop on it versus grabbing my car keys. My goal whenever I ride is "To Be Seen." I have flashing lights and a bluetooth speaker that announces my presence whenever I'm out on all our fabulous trails in SLO county. Whether you're someone who wants to competitively ride or someone like myself that enjoys simply being out in the sunshine, Walley, with his experience and inventory can get you well on your way. When I first purchased my Cattrike 559 Walley helped my a ton on the price, not only was it affordable for my budget, but he let me make the last payment after a week of riding. I was blown away he first trusts someone and affords them the opportunity to show the goodness in the bike riding community. Walley has hosted, sponsored, and contributed to special event fundraisers and downtown events by donating goods and services. Whenever there's a parade or special function downtown, you'll see Walley and his kiosk of bikes there to help and volunteer. Walley's Bicycle Works includes these services: Bike/E-Bike/Trike and helmet Rentals Help plan and coordinate your ride Bikes at all levels/budget for sale Purchase Equipment, parts and clothing Sponsors Events help you organize your event Hosts kids ride a long parties for parents Full service repair shop for all your needs You can inquire about buy-backs and trade-ins on bikes Save yourself the headache of trying to order the right bike to meet your needs and let Wally's Bicycle Works show you the options available in the bike world. Wally prides himself on a hands-on approach to bicycle sales that promises you that the bike you choose is truly something that will keep you on the road for years. I often stop by his shop just to talk about life and share stories about the things going on around town.
