Def different than years ago, but food still good. Portions could be a bit bigger but the burgers are huge!

My husband and I have eaten at the truck stop in Madras on several occasions and the service was good. We went in on Sunday June 23 2024, 9 am and it was not the case. The server brought us 1 menu for two people, can back in 15 minutes and asked us what we would like to drink, serviced us our drinks and took the menu without taking our food order. Other guests that came in after us had there order taken, after 30 minutes still no orders were filled. Our order was never taken. We just stopped at the "luxurious motel 6" (LOL) up the street and asked for a good place for dinner. She laughed when she said I can't believe I'm telling my guest to go up the street to a truck stop/gas station for dinner. Having few options, we decided to check it out. It is truly a small truck stop on Highway 97. Open 24 hours it looks like an old diner, stainless steel tables, black vinyl booth. And while it wasn't a huge menu, it offered something for everyone. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered my safe sandwich (BLT). It was good and I had onion rings (of the frozen variety) and they were okay. My friend order Indian Fry Bread Tacos... she said they were good and took one home with her. While we were there we watched the waitress refill the ketchup and hot sauce bottles. Was impressed as she thoroughly wiped down each bottle before refilling (I hate when you go to "better or chain restaurants" and you pick up sticky bottles). While not very fancy, this place is clean. After "dinner" we walked out the back entrance and into the convenience store of the gas station and bought ice cream to take back to our room for desserts. If you are on the road, a great place to stop and get a good meal. read more

New owners, and they brought some Indian dishes with them. Burgers are awesome, and the fries are the tastiest in town. Highly recommend.

Food, prices portions were right. Tasted good. Service was kind, but slow as 1 server worked her tail off to keep folks happy. Bathroom was a puddle of pee that you had to swim through to get to the toilet. (Women's was out of order). It was outrageously disgusting, no TP, no paper towel. I passed on using it altogether. Would I go back? Maybe in hopes of that being a bad bathroom day. But I would just assume try somewhere else for tasty, diner dive truck stop food. read more

Extremely slow service for To-Go orders. Regulars seem to be priority. 40mins for 2 breakfast burritos a is a bit unreasonable in terms of wait time, especially considering it was the only ticket up for 30 of those minutes. Nice homey atmosphere though. If we had time to kill would have been perfect. Edit: After eating, demoting to 1 star. Flavorless, small portions for the price and expensive for what you get. Also, charging extra for To-Go and then expecting a tip is redundant. And if you sell breakfast burritos, you should have hot sauce. It's basically a rule. Not worth the stop. read more

Passing through town heading north. Spent the night at the Fairgrounds RV Park and needed a good breakfast to hit the road. Had corned beef and hash with side of gravy. It was yummy. Wife had veggie omelette and loved every bite and the hash browns oh yes. Busy truck stop but worth it. Waitress was outstanding. Kept the coffee coming and very attentive. Five stars from me. This little place has no consistency, one day a not so bad hamburger to an uneatable entree. Normally very nice people, but the food is mediocre at best. One of the tastiest breakfasts I've had in a while! I got poached eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns. The potatoes were real, not out of the freezer and we're delicious. For as crappy as this place looks. It's not too bad. The corn beef hash is clearly out of a can. But the food wasn't bad.

The service the last several times have been horrible. But, we decided to try it one more time. It was no different. We sat there for 20 minutes waiting to get a cup of coffee. We finally got up and left. It should not take that long to get coffee. I even got up and found the waitress to bring us coffee. She actually gave me a dirty look, said she would be right there, brought the menu over and we waited another 10 minutes, never got coffee so we left. read more

This is a great restaurant if you go when you have competent wait staff. My husband and I went in around 10:45 this morning and it was busy but no more than on Tuesday. I ordered the breakfast special my husband ordered and pointed at the senior HOT half beef sandwich. Which is the main reason we like to eat there. 20 minutes later she arrived at the table with a cold beef sandwich and soup. When I said it wasn't what he ordered she half-hearted offered to get the right order as she was leaving the table to take another order. At that point my husband had to eat so we switched plates and I ended up paying $6.95 for a slice of stale white bread, a half leaf of soggy lettuce and and an ill place gob of mayo. The soup was probably ok but I don't eat tomato based soup. The whole thing would have be acceptable if this 'waitress' had bothered to apologise for the mistake. I will NEVER eat there again as long as she is there. read more
