    Bread Service Delicious!
    Lisa H.

Top notch dinner for my husband's birthday! Our waiter was awesome and food was excellent! The arancini was very cheesy throughout instead of just in the middle, and lightly crunchy on the outside. We had the bread service which I HIGHLY recommend. The semolina bread was the best I've ever had with whipped ricotta - delicious. Main entrees were veal Parmesan and the house made jumbo ravioli. The ravioli was unlike any I've had before - so good! Braised beef and when you slice into it, the red wine sauce flows out. Exceptional!!

Came for Happy Hour with friends after a play. Both our food and drinks were really good. The service was great and we enjoyed the QUIET ambiance. There was music playing, but it was low. Kudos for THAT! The meatballs were good, but the Patata Arrabbiata was the SLEEPER. Super tasty!!!

This review is based on their happy hour- their aperitivio, aka the happiest of hours! 4-6pm Sunday & Tuesday-Friday! Saw that they had a happy hour when walking by a few weeks ago and decided to try it. It was amazing! We walked in on a Friday at 4 with no reservation and had the choice of inside or outside. Outside you have the ambiance of Old Webster and inside is elevated, sleek, and warm. The entire wait staff was so friendly and attentive! The hostess was a ray of sunshine- the bartender took our orders and made our drink, another gentleman served us and our check was given to us by a manager. This was a cohesive waitstaff- truly awesome! We got a round of spritz' (Hugo) for $7 and pizzas for $9. It was a great deal and very delicious! The happy hour menu was extensive between the drinks and food and I am excited to be back for completely different things to order. Another thing I appreciated about Madrina was that I felt like I was back in Italy. Calling happy hour aperitivo is a nice touch, but even moreso we were there for at least an hour after we stopped ordering things and not once did they rush us out- we requested the check just like in Italy. I think this was intentional as well since the service was so attentive throughout the entire experience. Excited to be back! (For happy hour as I have heard that the regular dining menu can get pricey quickly)

Got there for Happy Hour which they have on a Sunday. That was a perfect menu for us with charcuterie, small bites with enough choices to make a light meal. Liked the drink menu offering beer, wine cocktails and, my favorite, spritzs. Great service and upscale but not haughty or over the top. Upscale comfort with the noise level just right!

Met some friends for happy hour. Nice menu assortment of discounted treats and drinks. I had pizza and wine which is never a bad thing. I had the spicy sausage pizza w mix cheese and honey and my companion had the margarita pizza. Tasty! We had attentive service that was really good. The ambiance of the room at night is very moody and sexy. It's a very pretty room, lovely change from the CJ MUGGS, space which was tired. I'd come back. It was enjoyable!

Sad to say, I was not really that impressed. As we experienced their Happy Hour the phrase, "Lipstick on a Pig" came to mind. They tried to create an upscale look and feel with their ambiance, but the product and service fell short. I'll start off by saying, they have a good Happy Hour with vey affordable pricing on classic cocktails. I was able to enjoy three of my all-time favorites; Black Manhattan, Martini and Old Fashioned (they call theirs, Italian Fashioned). All three of them were made well and I was impressed with the glassware and stemware they were served in. My friend drank Prosecco and it was served in a fluted glass. The major disappointment was with our food order. I ordered the Calamari and it was very bland. Hardly any flavor at all. The Buttermilk Herb Dressing, really didn't help much with the taste. I was disappointed that they were mainly just small rings, just tossed into a bowl. There were really only two nice sized pieces of pure calamari. Our other food item was one of their pizzas. We choose, Finocchiona. The Fennel Salami, Tomato and Mozzarella were great toppings, but the thin limp crust made it fall short. If the pizza is going to be STL Thin crust, it needs to be crisp. We both got a good giggle, because almost at the same time we both said, could this be a frozen pizza. It just did not have that freshly made taste. Other things I liked, Linen Napkins, Hooks Under The Bar and Gender Neutral Bathroom. Sad to say, I probably will not be returning. I came, marked it off my bucket list and it is time to move on. Wish them well.

My friend loves this place and said it was a bit off tonite after our meal. That said, here's our experience - the place had a fabulous vibe, decor, lighting, comfortable seating. Service was tremendous. From the host and hostess to our server to every staff member we encountered they were attentive, responsive, professional and friendly. Onto the food. We had a party of 5 and it was a 50-50 evening with half of our party rating the food a 4, the other 3-3.5. Highlights - arancini, calamari (though it should come with marinara - we had to ask for some), Mayfair salad, pollo piccata. The two friends who gave less than a 4 had the bolognese and the raviolo. I had the veal Parmesan which was huge (two meals worth). The veal was a little overdone - so it need more sauce for moisture. It was served with pasta which was nicely al dente but lacked anything much, the side of arugula was nice. All dishes were beautifully presented. For dessert we shared with limoncello sorbet and all gave it 5 stars - generous portion, perfectly tart and not too sweet, more elevated flavor than your usual lemon sorbet. We had a lovely even despite everyone not loving their dishes.

My husband and I made a reservation for a Wednesday evening- it was about half full when we arrived but cleared out quickly. I had the filet, he had the bolenese pasta. The food was delicious and the bread service is a must. The patio doors were all open, and the ambiance was wonderful! We will be back again

My wife and I were bummed when CJ Mugg's closed in Old Webster, but curious to try the restaurant that replaced it. We finally made that choice for Valentine's Day dinner last night, and we don't regret it. Madrina did a wonderful job renovating the space to create an elegant romantic atmosphere with warm low lighting and a soundtrack of pop standards. Service was very attentive and accommodating - despite the holiday crowd size, we never had to wait long for a water refill or a check in our cocktails (both of which were smooth, unique, and delicious). We split a house salad to start - I'm not typically a huge fan of this particular salad style, but really enjoyed the taste and texture of the artichoke hearts (which are very hit-or-miss to my palate). For the main course, we both ordered medium filets. The preparation felt a bit closer to medium-rare for my taste, but still satisfying and the accompanying roasted mushrooms and béarnaise sauce were excellent compliments to the steaks. The rich aroma of other pastas and seafood filled the dining room, and I'm curious to explore more of the menu on a future date night. Madrina made for a pleasant Valentine's Day dinner, and I'd recommend giving them a try next time you're in Webster Groves.

This was something that has become hard to find. Upscale restaurant that the food, service, and location justify pricing! Dark old school interior vibe. Good menu selections and great service. Will be back!

At first, I wasn't all that impressed but the place was super new. We gave it a few more months for the place to work its kinks out. Lo and behold, our most recent visit ended on a high note as far as the food, the service, and the atmosphere. *chef's kiss all over* Our recent visit in November was on a Friday night. It wasn't super busy when we got in but as the night progressed, we started noticing that the place was quickly filling up. On that note, if dining here over the weekend, you should probably make reservations. We started with some misto fritto - lightly battered crispy shrimp, calamari, artichokes, and fennel served with Buttermilk herb dressing. The serving was huge and the flavor did not disappoint. Needless to say, it was a fabulous start to our dinner. I ended up ordering the prime ribeye during this meal and it was fantastic. I clearly over-ordered but the leftover was just as tasty the next day! Then I had some cannoli to end the dinner with. The rest of our meal went really well and the service was fabulous. What I've had during my other visit - Mayfair salad with prosciutto and Mayfair dressing was lovely and had so much flavor. Linguini con vognole - I generally like pasta with clam but wasn't sure about this one. It wasn't bad but not my favorite. Tiramisu was divine and a great way to end your evening, no question! Because of how impressed I was with my most recent experience here, I have to give it 5 stars. It truly was wonderful and the food was excellent. If you've never been, you should give Madrina try! It is a fantastic addition to the Webster dining scene. I can't wait to go back and enjoy their other menu options.

We enjoyed happy hour at the bar at Madrina for a little girls night. The service at the bar was impeccable, they were so attentive and nice. We were specifically convinced to do happy hour because of the pizzas and spritzes on the menu! The overall vibe of this restaurant is very high end and nice. Great date night spot for sure. It felt intimate and had lots of big and nice windows. The arancini was very good, I loved the marinara sauce. They had very cute dishes and glassware as well!

I discovered, The Lounge because I arrived super early for a wine tasting at another business in the plaza. My friend and I were immediately won over, when we saw the bar dog. Her name is, Lucy. I liked that the front window is tinted so you cannot see in, but once inside you can clearly see the outside. If you like to play slots while you sip your inexpensive cocktail, The Lounge has about 4 or 6 machines for you to play. If you do, good luck. Best of all, the drinks are super affordable aka "cheap". The bartender was friendly to us being newcomers. Seeing the rest of the patrons at the bar and every stool was full, you could tell they were regulars at this neighborhood watering hole. If I'm ever back in the area, I'd definitely stop by for a cocktail.

We all arrived fairly close together, so we just started filling in seats as we arrived. The had us at the back of the restaurant at a banquet seat with tables and additional seats on the outside. It was a little tight, but we worked it out. The hostess was nice when welcoming us in and getting us going. Our server was Tera, she had our large group plus other tables, so she was doing her best to coordinate. We shared menu's, they had regular menus and special menus for Valentines Day. Tara was great with keeping track of the couples when ordering. I ordered the Butcher Board as an appetizer to share with others. Everyone really enjoyed it, especially the toasted bread. The salami, sausage and Braunschweiger. There was a buffalo chicken terrine that was different but good. Grain mustard aioli and house made pickles rounded out the board. I also ordered a cherry margarita as my first of two drinks. The second one was a Hugo Spritz. Both were ok, not great. I ordered the Tenderloin from the Valentine menu. It came with fingerling potatoes and green beans with a sauce. It was delicious! The beef so tender and flavorful. The meal was superb. To go packaging was great and came in a brown bag with handles that makes it easy to carry. We had a great time, great food and service.

There was a 20-30 minute wait so we found seats at the bar and ordered cocktails. Very good. Very strong. The Block is a great space. Tall ceilings, warm & inviting, perhaps a little low lighting for us challenged folks, but nice, easy to read menus made up for it. A busser brought us water and shortly behind him was Laura-Beth, (our server) with a big smile and menus. After explaining the menu, specials, and taking our drink orders she left us to think about our choices. The menu is a little limited but includes sandwiches as well as entrees including fish option.. Being a "butcher" restaurant we both opted for the ribeye, medium rare. The steak comes only with fries which I ordered while my date went for whipped potatoes. I also went for a side of spinach. We also split a Block Salad as a starter. Choosing to split the Block Salad was a good idea. It was more than enough for two. It was great version of a chopped salad with fresh greens, bacon, smoked ham, egg, house-smoked cheddar, tomatoes, red onion, dressed with just enough buttermilk dressing. Really enjoyed it and just the right amount of salad. Only criticism is not salt and pepper on the table. Probably by design but disappointing. Next came our steaks and sides. We both ordered medium-rare. Her steak was a little under but close enough. My steak was raw in the center. I should have said something but there wasn't so much it was inedible for me. Better under than over! The seasoned fries were good and the whipped potatoes very good were delicious. The fresh spinach was cooked perfect, but under seasoned. All in all, good sides. We finished with Irish Coffee and vanilla ice cream. Kudos to the staff A special thank you to our server Laura-Beth. You were spot on friendly, courteous, attentive, and made our evening great and not just good. Overall, a good place, A bit expensive but where isn't these days. Well worth a try if you haven't.

I'm disappointed that it took me so long to make my way here. They won me over with the tiny dedicated parking lot. At my big age, difficult parking situations are a turn off and I will go home if I can't get reasonable parking. I was able to snag a space in the lot and headed in. The space is a bit dark with rich sage, brass, and terracotta. There are several hanging plants making it an inviting place. The bar has plenty of comfortable seating and cozy tables if you decide to bring some friends. Caleb was our server during our visit. He was an absolute delight. He made excellent cocktail suggestions. He looked after our group without being overly doting. Just a gem of a human. We tried approximately 9 cocktails during our visit. Did I mention we were at brunch! I highly recommend the peach bite and the Side Car. Every cocktail is thoughtfully made and well executed. They offer a small brunch menu along with the regular menu. I usually always get chilaquiles when they are available. But today the ruby trout and grits sounded perfect. This dish was amazing!! The trout was thin with crispy skin. The grits were creamy and delicious. The dish is topped with a house made radish pico and salsa macha. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich that was paired with the crispiest breakfast potatoes I've ever had. The burger and fries are also a good option. The seasoning on the fries is next level. The brunch menu has a sticky toffee roll that is a perfect size for sharing or not. Salty sweet fork tender cinnamon roll. Lastly, the deviled eggs were a group favorite. I am a big fan of Passenger Chili Crisp. If you are unfamiliar please look them up! It's hands down the best chili crisp I've ever had. It's locally made here in STL and can also be found in several dishes at restaurants around town. The eggs were creamy with the right amount of tang from the mustard. The chili crisp made these deviled eggs easily top five best I've ever had! Planning to stop in again soon for happy hour with more friends
