This truck has good upscale hotdog and hamburger options, even fish and chips and chicken sandwiches. I am a big fan of chicken strips and they looked great and crispy. I got the pastrami dog with fries. It was a hot link with pastrami, pepper, onions, and BBQ sauce on top. A big hit was the steak fries! We tried almost everything in the menu and everyone seemed to enjoy their dish! Definitely will eat from this truck again! Staff was also very friendly and service was quick!

LENT 2024: FOURTH FRIDAY OF LENT…read more When this place first opened I used to go to this fish and chip joint about 4-5 times a year as there wasn't a lot of places in the East Bay at that time serving fish and chips. I always loved their fish but their fries not so much; the fish had that light, crispy breading whereas the fries were too soggy. Last Friday there were three places I considered to eat. I decided at the last minute to come to 101 Fish & Chips. I ordered a large combo that consisted of 2 pieces of fish and 4 shrimps along with fries. The fries I had in the past used to look flimsy. The fries I had at 101 Fish & Chips that day were crinkle-cut fries. I like the look of crinkle fries because they looked crispy. At 101 Fish & Chips the crinkle fries were crispy. The fish was moist while the breading maintained that light crispiness without being too oily as sometimes in the past. Then why didn't I give this place a higher rating? First the mozzarella sticks were a huge disappointment. They weren't fully cooked as the mozzarella wasn't melted as I was eating a stick of cold mozzarella stick. Second this place wasn't opened for customers to eat inside but only for take-out. I overheard the owner saying to a customer that place isn't opened to eat in during Lent but will open to dine in after Easter. Like what? This place could make more money on Fridays during Lent especially catering to Catholics who can only eat fish on Lent Friday. Since there are now quite of number of fish and chip joints in the East Bay I'm more willing to try those places.

This place is such a great addition to the Union City plaza! I dropped by on a random Thursday…read morenight, and the restaurant was already decently packed. The vibe is awesome, they have a great bar area with a couple of TVs playing sports, and the music was definitely bumping. The staff was incredibly nice and super attentive to our table the entire night. Food-wise, this spot doesn't miss a beat. One of the best surprises was that they offer fresh crawfish, which is pretty rare to find at most seafood boil places. Everything we ordered was packed with flavor, and the garlic fries were amazingly good. Honestly, this boil spot isn't lacking a single thing. Whatever they are doing, they need to keep it up! This has easily jumped to the top of my list as one of my absolute favorite seafood boil spots.

I was looking forward to trying Backyard Bayou, but unfortunately my experience never made it past…read morethe waiting area. My party arrived around 6:38 PM and added our name to the waitlist for dinner. While waiting, it became increasingly clear that more than half of the dining room had already finished their meals. Many tables appeared to be staying simply to watch the soccer match on the TVs. I completely understand wanting to enjoy the game, but at the same time there were 4-5 parties waiting for tables, with groups of various sizes. This raises an important question: at what point does management step in to balance hospitality with serving waiting guests? While no one should be rushed through their meal, when tables have clearly finished dining and a long wait is building, there should be some effort to manage table turnover during peak dinner hours. After waiting about 45 minutes with no indication that seating would happen anytime soon, we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Ironically, we didn't receive the text that our table was ready until 8:07 PM--nearly an hour and a half after we first checked in. The food may be great, but based on this experience, the waitlist management left a lot to be desired. I hope Backyard Bayou reviews how they handle busy nights and finds a better balance between accommodating guests who want to linger and serving the many customers waiting to dine.

Everyone seemed friendly and attentive in the place. It was busy! Prices were reasonable. The rolls were fantastic- sweet, warms, soft. And the butter was so good. Take some home! Her smile was worth a visit too.

A Place I Keep Coming Back To…read more I've been to Texas Roadhouse many times over the years--I just never remembered to take photos until this visit. For me, Texas Roadhouse isn't about finding the most expensive or most luxurious steak. It's about getting together with family or friends, enjoying a cold beer, sharing great appetizers, and having a relaxed meal without breaking the bank. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a classic American steakhouse. It's lively, energetic, and always feels welcoming. I also love the open kitchen and the hand-cut steak display when you walk in. Watching the staff prepare fresh steaks adds to the whole experience. One thing I miss is the old bucket of complimentary peanuts. They now come in individual bags, which is definitely cleaner and more hygienic, but I do miss that old-school Texas Roadhouse tradition. The warm fresh-baked rolls with cinnamon butter are still incredible. Honestly, I could probably eat an entire basket before my entrée arrives. My must-order items every single visit: Steak The steaks are consistently good. Are they premium steakhouse quality? No. But they're cooked well, seasoned properly, and offer excellent value for the price. That's exactly why I keep coming back. Cactus Blossom (The Giant Onion Appetizer) This is an absolute MUST. It's surprisingly difficult to find restaurants that serve an onion appetizer this size anymore. Most places either offer onion rings or a much smaller blooming onion. Texas Roadhouse's Cactus Blossom is enormous, beautifully presented, and fried to a perfect golden crisp. Every petal stays crunchy while the onion inside remains sweet and tender. Pair it with their signature dipping sauce, and it's the perfect appetizer to share over drinks. If you're visiting for the first time, don't skip it. It has become one of the signature dishes that keeps me ordering it every visit. Fried Catfish Another item I highly recommend. Crispy on the outside, moist and flaky inside, and surprisingly light. It goes perfectly with a cold beer and good conversation. Loaded Baked Potato Simple but done right--loaded with sour cream, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and butter. Comfort food at its best. One thing that deserves special recognition is the service. Every visit, the servers have been friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Drinks are refilled before you even have to ask, and they frequently check in without being intrusive. Great service makes a huge difference, and the staff here consistently delivers. They're absolutely the kind of servers who deserve a generous tip. At the end of the day, Texas Roadhouse isn't trying to compete with high-end steakhouses--and that's perfectly fine. It knows exactly what it is: a fun, casual American steakhouse where people gather to enjoy good food, cold beer, and great company. The steak is consistently good, the portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, the service is excellent, and the overall experience keeps me coming back. I'll definitely be back again. Highly recommended.
