The food is delicious, and the sushi is excellent. Only warning - this restaurant is not very big and it is mobbed because it is so good. If you are going make a reservation. We did on a Friday night and although there was a line for tables they honored our reservation and had saved us a table. Not every restaurant does this, kudos to them. Considered eating at outside tables today until I saw a member of the staff bussing a table with mask half off (nose exposed rendering mask completely useless). Ordered take out instead. Food was good, but would NEVER consider dining there until all staff are suitable masked-up. The mask issue is the reason for 1 Star. I think it's a serious issue. UPDATE: after my initial experience I was told by the management that they would talk to staff about mask issues. Went back today (August 21, 2020) to find one staff member without a mask at all and another wearing mask improperly. Restaurant claims on website to be following CDC guidelines. I don't trust them and will not do business with them again. It's a pity because the food is good...I just do not trust their Covid-19 precautions CDC allows for exemptions ? I am going to be honest here. Having lived in Columbus my whole life, I didn't know how spoiled I was when it came to excellent, mouthwatering cuisine until I moved to The Cincy area. I love this town but man, the food that I have tried has been a star or two below what I enjoyed in Columbus. That is why when I tried Mae Ploy's, I had to give it five stars because they stand out and above nearly any restaurant of any cuisine in the Lebanon area. I had the chicken Pad Thai mild. Great flavor and excellent blend of sweet and spice. They give you a TON of food for the money too. We had left overs for the next day which to me, basically cut their price in half by providing two meals instead of one. We ordered carry out and the dishes sat well until we got home in Waynesville. Since then, we have reordered several times and will continue. I would recommend this restaurant highly for quality and for a unique dish that is a welcomed change from the norm. read more

Terrible. My friend and I went for dinner. We had reservations and didn't have to wait too long to be seated. Our waiter was very nice but you could tell he was extremely busy. We ordered potstickers, crab ragoon, and lettuce wraps. The potstickers and crab ragoon were just like any other place. The lettuce wraps tasteless. My friend ordered a cocktail and couldn't even drink it. I tried it and it was not good. To top it all off the sushi chef was not there, so no sushi. Our table was dirty and just gross. Well, i see a lot of 5 star reviews here and honestly, the food was really good! HOWEVER, we stopped in on a Friday afternoon, and although they actually seated us, apparently, they probably shouldn't have. We were told at 2:08 pm that we had to have our order in to the kitchen by 2:15 and that we would need to pay the tab by 2:30. We were "allowed" to stay in and eat our food after 2:30 but the rush to get the order in and get us paid up was absurd. If it was that important to be that prompt about closing out between lunch and dinner, why seat us at all? the server literally stood at the table while we read the menu, waiting for our order. he was extremely rude and even turned and walked away mid-sentence when we were still figuring out the order. I would go back on the advice of my daughter who said it's really good, and it was, but the service.... if it were up to me, I'd definitely not want him to be the server at my table. If the owner had been there that day, I'd have talked to her, because I think he may have even been the Manager! This guy needs a course in how to be nice to paying customers. Good thing tips allow us to let them know how we feel about service. The service alone ruined the entire experience for us. Party of 4 and we ALL noticed the poor manners. read more

My husband and I just happened to be in Lebanon, from N. KY, on Saturday and wanted to find a local spot to eat. We just happened to come across Mae Ploy's. We did NOT realize how popular they were until we were eating and noticed there was a huge crowd forming and a wait to get in. The atmosphere was romantic, yet casual. The staff was super friendly. We decided to start off with some appetizers. The Tod Mun Pla (fish cakes), we'd never had before so, we were surprised at how good they were. They were deep fried fish cakes, yet had a slight spongy texture. The flavor was bold and on point! The fish was blended with red curry and green beans. It was served with a sweet chili sauce with bits of cucumber. I really enjoyed them. We also ordered sashimi and sushi. The Bangkok dragon roll was awesome. It was tempura shrimp, avocado, cucumber, eel, and eel sauce. I had them add masago for an added fun texture! We also ordered yellowtail, shrimp, white tuna, salmon, tuna, and red snapper sashimi. We've eaten sushi/sashimi around the country, and this was some of the freshest, cleanest tasting sashimi we've had in a while. Especially since Ohio isn't coastal. And, the sashimi wasn't tiny pieces, like you get at other restaurants. Each piece was sliced into thick steak like filets. The shrimp was exceptionally good! It tasted like it was soaked in a lemongrass/ginger marinade. The flavor was outrageously good. For my entree, I went with the Pla Rad Prik. It was a whole, deep fried perch, dressed with a sweet and sour chili sauce and deliciously flavored steamed and sauteed vegetables. The carrot slices were really good. They took on a pickled lemongrass flavor, that I loved! The fish skin, itself, was crispy, and had almost a bacony flavor to it. The meal was so large, I took half home for "2nd" supper, which I devoured! My husband ordered the Thai noodle soup with beef. Not only was it loaded with huge, tender pieces of beef but, it also had a ton of slices of Thai sausage, which had a robust flavor. It was chock full of rice noodles, bean sprouts, green onions, cilantro, and garlic. He loved it! This was a great find in downtown Lebanon! We'll definitely be back! read more

i had been craving pad thai all day but my expectations fell flat. the pad thai was extremely sweet - halfway through i had a headache. i asked for medium spice but it wasn't spicy at all. i also would have appreciated a higher tofu to noodle ratio. my sister ordered the sushi boat for 1. lovely presentation. tasted fine but not worth $20. service was very slow: it took 10 minutes to be seated, even though we were the only party waiting, and half an hour for our food to come out. granted, it was a busy friday night. staff was accommodating when we could get ahold of them. we were also seated in a small room and could hear every word of the table behind us. read more

Absolutely ridiculous..... long wait, no food, left hangry. We were really looking forward to the experience and when we drove 20 minutes to the restaurant, everything looked promising. Decor was nice, restaurant full of people and we felt "fortunate" that we were seated at the only open table. Granted my daughter didn't feel good so our patience was already wearing on us but seriously, after 15 minutes, we had to ask someone for water. The only people being served were those ordering alcohol. Only 2 tables had food on it, everyone else was drinking. Still no water so we asked again. Same server who received our request proceeded to walk from the bar to 2 separate tables with alcohol. Can you NOT pick up some water on the way? We asked again.... waited another 10 minutes and got frustrated. Hungry, grumpy and thirsty - we got up and left. Perhaps the food would have been good. Perhaps the resultant is perpetually short on staff (evident by other reviews about long waits), but we will never drive the 20 minutes to waste 25 minutes to drive another 20 minutes to go home hungry again. read more

From the fresh Cali roll and Spring rolls, to our entrees, Red Curry and Cashew Chicken, the entire experience was wonderful. 30 minute drive from Dayton was worth it. The pad Thai was excellent! All of the food I saw coming out of the kitchen looked great too. Plus the wait staff was very attentive. Saw this on Yelp while we were up at soccer and made the drive into downtown Lebanon to try it for lunch. Glad we did! The building itself is very beautiful! The inside decor is very nice but the atmosphere is very casual and family friendly. All of the staff was super friendly and there was no wait despite being busy. I ordered the tofu green vegetable curry and it was amazing! Some of the best I've ever had. Temperaturewise if was super hot so I know it was freshly made! The vegetables were all perfectly cooked and the flavors were the real deal. I ordered mine "hot" and nearly liquidfied my insides so maybe will do medium next time. Loved the food here! I used to stay in south east Asia earlier and got addicted to Thai food there. I sorely missed good Thai food here, until I found this restaurant! I ordered green curry and our group also ordered pad Thai. Portion size was generous, we both packed half of our portion to take home. What a wonderful experience! We only had take out, but everyone I observed dining in was completely thrilled with the meals before them. I was greeted promptly, and offered a seat and a drink while the young lady took my payment and shuffled off to the kitchen to put together our order. While I waited - no less than 5 minutes from the promised time - the owner came out of the kitchen, walked straight over to me and offered me a seat and a drink while I waited. I politely declined, but she stayed a moment, offered a bit of small talk, then moved on. The entire staff seemed very busy, but the customer is definitely the center of their attention. I also noticed the staff eats their lunch together in the center of the restaurant - most restaurants shove them in a corner booth, out of the way. At May Ploy's, staff is more like family. I even noticed a couple clear the others' plates for them as they were finishing up. Just a happy feeling throughout the restaurant. Oh, but when we got the food home, not only was every one of the 14 items correct, it was still piping hot! They've mastered spices, and it was clearly the best Thai I've ever eaten. There were 5 of us. We waited 20 minutes to even get water. Had to then track someone down for a refill. We ordered crab rangoons, pad thai, california roll, and orange chicken in our party. Food was pretty good. not great. But good. The service was terrible. We should have been offered something for the long wait for no reason. We watched other tables get served as we were ignored. We definitely will not be back. Service makes or breaks restaurants in my opinion. I will stick to China Cottage in Springboro (I know it's different than Thai food) but service and food is so much better there! read more

Shared the whole red snapper with a great chili sauce (owner says the sauce are all homemade with her own fresh grown chili peppers). Also had Pad Thai, Green Curry and Drunken Noodles; all very good. All meals are made with spice level 1 so be sure to ask for a little more, 2 was good on the curry but definately needed the 3 on Pad Thai. Prices are more than reasonable. read more

We stopped in this evening for the first time during the restaurant's opening week and this is already one of our favorite restaurants. There were a few hitches with service but they are easy to overlook because the staff and owner are pleasant and gracious. My family tried an appetizer sampler, fried rice, pad Thai and khao soi (Northern Thai coconut curry soup served with egg noodles). Every dish was fresh and clearly made from scratch. Their food is amazing. We tried multiple appetizers, noodles, and soups. The flavor was all excellent. Vegetables were crisp, not overcooked. The atmosphere was very nice. They left the original bank's vault in the interior. It looks so cool. Hope they'll utilize the vault in the future so the customers can dine in or take pics in the vault. The owner was a very charming lady with exceptional customer service mind. We'll visit often since it's the best Thai food around.
