Bowls

Like a healthier Chipotle! Lots of delicious, fresh options! My bowl was so delicious! I loved the unique combination of flavors and unique offerings. The only thing that I didn't love was the peach tea.

This is a local chain that has a second location in Athens and one somewhere in Atlanta. It's a fast casual bowl place, but unlike a lot of these it really emphasizes Southern style flavors. It's also notably vegetarian and vegan-friendly. Indeed, in addition to green or grain options to start my bowl, various side options that were mostly plant-based, I had two very different protein options. Considering the tofu which was described as being flavored with nutritional yeast and tamari, I thought that this would either be really basic or mouthwateringly delicious. It turns out that it was lightly blackened and quite addictive. My kale and bean salad were also quite good. This is a nice place to eat inside or outside. The parking lot is small and was quite busy while I was there but there are no other businesses immediately around and there are other parking spots. My big negative was that the salad I started my bowl with was really not much, and the size of a bowl for the price was not quite what I'd hoped, particularly for this being in a college town. The stuff in the bowl was interesting and delicious and quite good for most diets.

This was an amazing stop for Vegan take out while we were in Athens. I came for moral support, but I was also intrigued as to what Vegan options are available. Apparantly the Fritters Plate is the best one. After some hesitation and needing to read the various choices, I ordered the Pork Plate. Two scoops of a mashed sweet potato and a macaroni and savory long cut green beans and the pulled salty pork is heaped on top. A nice looking 'to go' bowl. I wanted my sauces on the side and received a scriracca red blend, and an oily Ginger concoction. The red one is much better. Maepole is a great sounding name for serving up comfort foods. A quick use of a clean RR and we are back on the road. I had a filling Maepole meal once we got home.

This place is like a Chiptole but healthier. From mostly vegan and veggie options with alternatives like chicken and pork, you can't go wrong here. I placed an online order and picked it up and the only reason I knocked a star was because they messed up my order. It would have been okay if I had not been picking up for my co-workers. They gladly fixed the issue and I got to keep the wrong order too. I love their chicken, sweet potatoes and their brussell salad! I did not care much for their mac and cheese, it seemed a little sour. I will be back to try more options.

Eating the boxcar again w chicken instead of pork, tasting great as always. Will always choose this over the fast food that I have by my work

I've been a consistent customer at Maepole for the last two years and have had nothing but positive experiences. I've recently begun to sit outside on their patio to eat (I used to just take it to go) and the ambiance is great. The vibes are like a pleasant coffee shop but instead of coffee it's healthy, reasonably priced food. I've ordered a variety of things from their menu and have never had an issue with it. The only menu item I found to be average was their tofu, but that may have been a one time thing. I would definitely recommend Maepole if you're looking for a casual environment to chow down on good healthy food.

Go DAWGS! The real standout of the meal was the duck fat tater tots. These were sinfully delicious. They were crispy, rich, and easily one of the best appetizers I've had in a long time. They include three different dips We visited during lunch service, and everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. The portions were generous, especially considering the price, and the overall quality was excellent. The food: I went with the Fried Chicken Blue Plate. Between the regular and the Nashville Hot, the Nashville was the winner--flavorful and moist without being overwhelming with the spice. Huge shoutout to my server for suggesting the brussel sprouts; that glaze is incredible and they were easily my favorite part of the plate. The mashed sweet potatoes were unique--I'm still debating if I liked them or loved them. The jalapeño cornbread was a bit sweet for my taste but on par with most restaurant cornbread. The mac & cheese wasn't bad, but also didn't do much for me like most restaurant mac & cheese. The cocktail: Do not sleep on Nana's Naissance. I wasn't sure what to expect from the ingredients, but it's like an elevated take on Rumchata. The service: I was seated at the bar and experienced a noticeable delay--a group that arrived well after me almost finished their meal before mine arrived. However, the waitress acknowledged the wait before I even had to mention it and made things right. I really appreciate that kind of proactive service. We're all human, and they handled the situation very professionally.

I actually attended UGA but I had never heard of this place before - perhaps because the prices aren't super college student-friendly, but I thought it was a nice local restaurant. They have several different kinds of chicken salad prepared, and I got the grape chicken salad in a sandwich. I don't think the bread is freshly-made but it was really good toasted. I selected a side of noodles which were also really tasty, which you can add peanuts to if you'd like but I opted not to. I also heard them talking about all sorts of desserts that they had made fresh that day. The entrance is really small so it might be easy to miss. They have tons of seating available so I'm sure you'd be fine if you brought a large group. They do also have internet but you have to ask them for the password. Note that I don't think this would be a good place to eat right now if you're trying to be cautious about COVID - no one's wearing masks and the food is out in the open.

He lives in the area(ish) and recommended Trappeze Pub as a soliding dining option that is also very close to the venue and, having had a meal there, I can now corroborate that assessment. The space is quite big which made it super easy for us to grab a table. We were seated in a section of the restaurant with a bunch of booths so it was nice to have a quieter space where we could catch up with our friend and have a nice meal. For my dish I went with the grilled cheese BLT (muenster cheese with bacon, tomato, arugula and lemon thyme vinaigrette grilled on sourdough) and fries and I quite liked it! Nothing fancy but it was good and and I would absolutely try it again. Currently rocking the sober life so I can't speak to their beer line up personally but the menu did look quite robust! And as someone not drinking I must also recommend their root beer. Great casual spot perfect for a bite, a hang, or all of the above when hanging out around town.
