Maggie was AMAZING!!! She altered my $4000 Pronovias all lace wedding gown that I purchased off the rack and was 6 sizes too big for me and 6 inches too long. I have heard wedding gown alterations horror stories and Maggie made me feel so comfortable right away. My daughter is twelve and is between misses and girl sizes. Maggie did an amazing job taking in the bust and adding sleeves to a sleeveless dress for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah. The sleeves looked exactly like part of the dress. The added material was sheer and the seams were neat and absolutely perfect. She also suggested some beading which she added at the bottom of the sleeves. The beading added just the right touch. She was friendly and she had the dress ready timely. I took a nice wool coat to Maggie a couple of years ago to be shortened to fit my petite self after the alteration place at the dry-cleaners said the job would be too difficult for them (points for honesty). She did a really great job, and her prices were totally reasonable. The one thing that prevented me from giving her the full 5 stars is that it did take a while because she also gets a lot of work from the studios that needs to be done on a rush. But I would highly recommend going to her for those tricky or special jobs that you don't want to trust to just anyone. read more

COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME! I asked Maggie to make a tie for me out of a material which I provided. She gave me a quote, told me she can do it. Later in the week I get a call from her telling me that she needs me to provide her additional material like lining and tie interface...Surpsing to me b/c I would think a professional tailor would have access to such basic materials. Instead she sends me to downtown to a store where I needed to purchase these materials and deliver to her. This back and forth delayed my project by 2 weeks. Her knowledge of actual tie making was VERY LIMITED. She told me she needed electric sissors to do the job (which she didn't have) when I asked others and people at the downtown store, they laughed at how silly the concept was (any regular sissors will do). When questioned about how she would approach this project, she had no gameplan in mind (maybe glue?...maybe press?). Samples of ties which I provided her where scattered on the ground. Disorganized workplace = low effort work. On Monday, after I provided her everything she required, I asked when can I expect this to finally be completed and she told me to call her by the end of the week and she will tell me if she can get to it by Saturday, if not, then MAYBE next week!?? Apparently she told me she had to "do her work," so I guess I had to assume that my order wasn't part of "her work" and not important enough. I did not want to wait a month for a job that takes a few hours to do. I picked up my materials and will not be doing business with her ever again. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Maggie's Aterations to anyone that cares about their time and quality effort. read more

For an upcoming friend's wedding, I sat on my hands a bit on buying a new suit and when I finally did, I needed some very last minute tailoring on the whole get-up -- pants, jacket, vest. Maggie is wonderful. I have taken 2 different dresses to her to be taken in, and she does amazing work. Her prices seem very reasonable to me, and her work is stellar. She makes the dresses look even better than they did on the rack. She works pretty quickly, and always gives an honest opinion. The only slight catch is that she only takes cash. I'm so surprised there are so many great reviews! Maggie was rude on the phone... and honestly seemed like she did not want business. I'm calling around the area to a couple different places to get a few quotes. Every place gave me an estimate...a price range... depending on how many layers & what type of dress which I know varies :) When Maggie answered I asked her if I could please get a quote or approximate range for a dress hem... she said "I don't know" rudely. I explained to Maggie it has two layers, one silk, one tulle and that if she could please give estimate it would be helpful. She said NO NO NO I don't work that like. I asked her if she even had a starting price & if it goes up to a certain price depending on hem. She said I DONT KNOW YOU HAVE TO COME IN. With in 10 minutes of talking to Maggie, I completely trusted her in fixing a dress with really delicate fabric that was hard to work with. She was fast in finishing the dress and hemming a pair of true religions with the wide stitching. When I came to pick up the dress, I noticed some stitching that was off (being a bit of a perfectionist) and she fixed it immediately. Everything was given a reasonable price. Just had Maggie alter two dresses for me. One was a bridesmaid dress, 5 sizes too big. I went to Maggie's to have a vintage dress altered, but when I tried it on in the shop it turned out I didn't need to make any changes after all. Also, I was having trouble with the hook & eye and the zipper, which kept getting stuck. Maggie fixed both problems, no charge. Normally I have my minor alterations done by my dry clearners - but when I brought in my wedding rehersal dress that needed some custom work done, it was too much of a project for them. I didn't have a local seamstress but went to Maggie upon recomendation from Unique Vintage botique in Burbank. My dress needed some major work done - it was too small and I thought replacing the zipper with a corsett back would do the trick as I didn't have any additional material to fix the zipper - Maggie suggested that the dress would look better if it were a few inches shorter, giving her the additional material to fix the zipper. I was hesitant about how this would look given she would be inserting a piece of material onto the back of the dress - but decided to give it a try. The dress came out amazing! You couldn't even tell that the dress had been completely re-sized. She charged me $150 - but for all the work that this little dress went though, I feel it was a reasonable price. I am glad that I gave her the opportunity to win my future business and I am confident that my wedding dress will come out great when she is done with it (she is making it shorter for me). read more
