Another stop for our family of 6 at Maggio's upon our arrival to Big Bear. We did the same last year and liked the experience. Once again, good pizza and a cold beer - exactly what we are looking for after a 2-hour drive! We came in around 1 pm and it wasn't too busy, we ordered right away and found a big table inside. The team there is friendly and efficient. It's located in the large shopping plaza along with Vons. They have Tesla superchargers in the lot now - YAY for that! Parking is plentiful, especially if you park towards the main road. The restaurant is clean and spacious. We like that they have a soda fountain machine so you can get refills as needed. Pizza was good, hot and had plenty of toppings. We didn't get the salad this time but that decent too. Their ranch is yummy, we got one side to try it with the pizza. Great place for a group.

Picked up pizza memorial weekend 2026. Super friendly over the phone to order pizza for pick up. Friendly in person for pick up. Inside was clean and busy and felt like a pizza joint! We ordered a 12" pepperoni with pineapple on half for my wife (no, pineapple does not belong on pizza, but I love my wife sooooooo...). The pizza was good, but I thought it could've used more sauce. We will definitely be back.

Truly remarkable customer service -- plus they also have the best pizza in Big Bear! We ordered and drove out to pick it up. When we arrived, the place was packed, with no seating available. I believe it was because they were closing soon and couldn't seat anymore guest due to full capacity. That's when we realized they must have good pizza! We waited longer than expected, but they took care of us and apologized for the delay. The owner or manager gave us a discount for waiting past the allotted time, and we truly appreciated the gesture. Let me tell you, we all enjoyed their pizza--spot on and very cheesy. Great-tasting pizza made with high-quality ingredients, paired with extremely friendly service. The next time we're in the area, I'll be sure to stop by and dine in because they have a great vibe with fun movies playing too. Thank you again for a great pizza.

The food was really good after a hike. Caesar salad dressing was very tasty and creamy. I ate half of the serving before the pizza even came out. The staff was nice and friendly. The cheese pull on the pizza was awesome! The inside of the restaurant was not too crowded on a Sunday afternoon.

I was hesitant to come to this pizza spot because of the negative reviews but decided to give it a try. I am not a huge pizza connoisseur, I just like what I like. The pizza was good tho, 9/10 I didn't get to try the wings but my kids liked them and finished them. My daughter got the lasagna and loved it and she's a very picky eater. The funnel fries were very easy but that is expected. Okay, so food.. 9/10 Now... Service. Now I can see why the negative reviews on the service. It was very packed when we got there, we got it to go and was told 30-45min. I came back around 35-40min later to get my food and it still wasn't ready. There were a lot of people waiting. But as I was waiting I was able to see the cooks in the background, working on the pizzas. These guys were not chit chatting or standing around or just ignoring orders. NO. They were prepping them from scratch, working hard putting pizzas in and out of the oven. Pizza like this from scratch isn't done in 15-20min in that case just go to Domino's or Pizza Hut if you want something fast. My food order was done in almost exactly an hour but that was the time I heard they were giving everyone. I didn't get bad service, the girl helping me out looked unfriendly but she was very nice, just trying to get all of the ours out. I can see the people sitting waiting being exasperated bc their orders are taking forever to get to their table but please go and take a look at the back so you can have an idea of all the hard work they're putting in! I was a witness therefore I wasn't even mad about waiting... just extra hungry!!!

We ordered food to take back to the cabin and we definitely made a good choice! We ordered a thick crust pepperoni pizza which was delicious! Thick crust, but not dense, it was airy and fluffy and yummy!!! Also ordered zucchini fries and a chicken strip kids meal. The staff were indifferent . Just neither rude or friendly; but took my order and got it out in a timely manner.

Clean, quick and delicious! Staff was super friendly and efficient. Lasagna and chicken fettuccine alfredo were awesome and the garlic bread that comes with it is soft and so good!! Absolutely fantastic food. It was really good pizza. The service was PHENOMENAL. With a group of friends and we order different pizzas to go and then one came out before and they offered to keep it warm for us while we wait. Setting is super clean and fun. Maggio's had top reviews for pizza in Big Bear. We gave it a shot. Parking was busy on a Friday. The service was great. The pizza was mediocre at best. The crust was disappointing... artificial, 'plastic y'. The topping were all right. I'd probably try something else before giving them a shot. read more

Wow, this place gets 10 stars for service! They were awesome with my little one, replaced an accidentally dropped pizza, and ran out to our car to return a toy my kid left at the table. Also this was THE BEST cheeseless pizza I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! So know you'll have choices here those who are vegan or dairy free!! Any pizza can be ordered without cheese and the pizza was so loaded and tasty that I didn't even miss it!! Which is saying a lot!! The crust was the perfect crispness, sauce was amazing, toppings were delicious and generous!! The spaghetti was okay. I ordered it bc spaghetti usually never disappoints but cheeseless pizza usually does. Garlic bread was amazing too!!!! Thank you, Maggio's!!!!!!! read more

Tried to order by phone but had to go through their bigbeartakeout.com delivery service website, so at 7:25 pm I ordered one large cheese pizza and one large Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza with a thin crust request. Delivery service advertised 60 to 90 minute delivery, so at 90 minutes I was calling to see where our pizzas were because our family with children were hungry and complaining and it was almost 9 PM. Driver finally arrived after 100 minutes, Both pizzas had a burned crust, see picture. Had to eat the topping off the burned crust. Hawaiian pizza did not have a thin crust but a thick crust. Overall, disappointing. If you use their delivery service, especially on a weekend, be forewarned. read more

Food is expensive with super long wait but the staff was very friendly and calm even though it was madness inside. - side note we came during the busiest time of the year which is not their fault. They really were trying their best. read more

We went in and ordered our pizza to go Jessie was friendly and helpful suggested the I believe called the Jose cheesy bread with jalapeños which was absolutely delicious! We were feeding our 4 adult children and a grand child all of which gave the pizza a high score of absolutely delicious. The owner was also friendly and helpful! Prices were very reasonable. A very busy place ! We will definitely go back. Yummy !!! read more

This place hooks up their food!! We got a pineapple/pepperoni pizza, a Mexican pasta, seafood pasta and a kids cheese pizza with fries for dinner when we came for our Big Bear vacation. The food lasted us two days! The portions were big and flavorful. The pastas definitely had more seafood meat than pasta which is a first! The pizza had big slices and a lot of pineapple and pepperoni at a good deal. So happy I came here for dinner. read more

I love this Italian restaurant. It is simple but the marinara sauce is very good. The chicken Marsala needs work. More white wine, no onions and more mushrooms, sauce alittle thicker. The prices are great and the pizza is the best!!!! read more

My mom and came up to Big Bear for a retreat and decided to come here for dinner since they offered a variety of gluten feee pastas ans pizzas. Since it was our for at time the cashier pointed out the specials and directions for ordering when we were ready. We ordered a 14"Mediterranean Pizza and the Mesquite Chicken Primavera with the side of gluten free pasta and marinara sauce on the side. The food came out relatively quickly, the thin gluten free crust of the pizza was done just right, and the pasta was amazing. We look forward to coming back next time we visit. read more

Good pizza is hard to come by, and we came 225 miles for some of the best pizza we've ever eaten. Where do I begin!? Look, if you genuinely love pizza THIS is the place. Why? Because if you do then you understand that pizza is all about the sauce & secondly the crust! Homemade red sauce is SO DAMN GOOD! Unreal. Crust/dough is superb. I ordered thin crust and it was PERFECT. I could have eaten that sauce by the spoonfuls. Pros: Pizza was good Staff was nice They have gluten free pizza which very few places here offer and my husband with celiac did not have a reaction so yay! Cons: It took an hour and a half on a relatively not busy Friday night for two medium pizzas Also, no one wears a mask and if you do you will be judged pretty harshly with stares haha read more

They do not follow strict COVID Guidelines at all. Seems like the restaurant's reputation for good food is getting to their head. I was referred their by a real estate agent and I think she would regret it if she knew how people were being treated. Customer service is so incredibly lackluster. They are so busy that they don't care about you. Example, I waited an additional 45 minutes over the '15-20 minutes' they said it would take to get food. Worse, they kept telling people it was going to be 15- 20 minutes to get your food. Then I asked for plates for my to-go order, they said they ran out but I could go to Vons or dollar tree next door to get some. If it's so easy to get them, why didn't they get some for their customers. Food was good for Big Bear. Not over priced. read more

Service is always friendly! Love their hot wings and they listen when you ask for well done/extra crispy. Carbonara is good with tons of bacon. Leans more Alfredo but who doesn't like white sauce on pasta. What's not to like with hot pizza, tasty salads and well fried appetizers. Maggio's is oir "go to" when we want fast, tasty and too lazy to cook at home. read more

Overall not a great experience for me and my family on our big bear vacation. The people here are super friendly and nice. Want to start with that and the only reason for not leaving 1 star. We called two nights in a row and it was impossible to get anyone to answer the phone. Always busy or would just run and ring and ring. Probably tried 20 times. Finally went down to order in person and it's a crazy long wait. Over an hour. They were good about letting us know and being accurate about how long it would take. Again, really great/nice staff. We got pizza/calzone/fettuccini Alfredo and a salad. Most of it was below average except the pasta. Definitely not worth the wait and hassle that goes along with getting g food here during peak times. read more

Food is okay, but definitely not worth the price! I found the older ladies sense of humor to not be so funny when she cut me off in the middle of asking for a receipt. She can tell it annoyed me and tried making a joke afterwards. Waaaay over priced, wouldn't be my 1st option next time read more

I ordered a large supreme pizza to go. The toppings were generous but the dough could not hold it all. The edges of the crust were hard and the center was a mushy mess. Still tasted good. The guys working the counter and the kitchen were all really nice. A large Commencal mountain bikes banner is proudly displayed in the dining room along with mountain bike jerseys along the wall. Bicycle themed decor line the kitchen. This place definitely caters to the cycling scene in Big Bear. read more

I got the pepperoni pizza with sausage and jalapeños. It came out fresh and had the best crunch in my opinion. It was also fluffy which I love! I gave this place a 4/5 because the wait time was a bit too long for how little people were inside. Overall, I would come again and the service was excellent. Hello. Was there 1/8/23 having dinner. I order the Chicken barbecue pizza, Biting into my 1st slice I ended up biting into a piece of the cutting board or something hard. Gave it to the waitress she shut all the waiters but does not look like she showed the cook. They did not come back and apologize. Sorry to say but don't think i will be going back. Not when you chip your tooth on the Sunday night. Sorry but I don't need that . read more

Big Bear Lake has truly become a BUSY town -- even on a Monday night! Tried calling in to put in an order but the phone kept ringing and ringing and ringing... I gave up and finally went on their website. I was so happy to see that they have an "online" order form. Woohoo! The online process was quite easy -- put in my order and received a confirmation that my order will be ready for pick-up in an hour. I even received a friendly text from "Shelly". Nice touch! When I got there, the place was packed! No wonder no one answered the phone. LOL. I ordered 2 pizzas, 2 orders of wings, and a family garden salad and was pleased to find out that my order was ready. As I walked to my car, I thought to myself that I better CHECK my order since it was pretty hectic in there. So glad my gut instinct was right cause there were only 9 pieces of chicken wings... I mean, I'm no genius but I did pay for 2 orders of wings... so .... an odd number just didn't add up. Anyway -- long story short -- I walked back to the restaurant from the parking lot and inquired about my missing 3 pieces of wings that flew away. I opened the box and showed the gentleman behind the counter the container of wings. He counted and then said, "Oh -- there are only 9 pieces... would you like 3 more pieces?" Um... "Yes, please?! Was I supposed to say no?" He ended up giving me four pieces ... I'm sure because of my sarcasm. HA! Overall: The pepperoni and the original house special pizza were good. Should have ordered the garden salad with MOZZARELLA cheese. The wings were tasty ... all 13 pieces of them. read more

Go here if you're looking for gluten free Italian! Several options for gluten free pasta and pizza. Pizza was delicious. Service was great- we had a table of six and meals came out of the kitchen quickly. Ambiance is alright, everything was very clean. Would highly recommend! read more

The Village Pizza has been reliable when many restaurants in Big Bear have closed and Village Pizza remains open with later hours. We ordered two personal pizzas ($8.50 each), some wings ($11), and an order of Churros ($8.50) for dessert. The personal pizzas were good along with the wings and ranch sauce, but definitely don't recommend the Churros. They're more like churro fries and were very hard and tasted freezer burnt and overdone. With that said, the Village Pizza is a solid option to go to for a casual meal when other restaurants in the village have closed. They offer cozy indoor seating as well as dog friendly patio seating and some parking. Solid four stars!

As you walk up, you're greeted by a massive shark head and you can spot their fun desert decor like cactus and peach umbrella covers. Instantly you know you're going somewhere fun. When you walk in, you stand in a line to order your food off a screen, and they call your name when your order is ready. There are QR codes so you can order a drink while waiting and you'll be entertained by the quirky surfer bro who's calling out names when people's drinks are ready. Everyone is donned with Hawaiian shirts and look genuinely happy to work there. There's a big outdoor patio with those peach umbrella covers to provide some shade, as well as seating inside. It kinda feels like you're in Disneyland because there's so much decor and so many things to look at. While waiting to order food, I ordered the island style cold brew with macadamia nut milk. It was good! We also got a tropical gangster, a frozen drink with passion orange and guava and it was the perfect drink to sip on for a hot day. For food, we got the pele poke bowl and the cabo poke bowls. The portions weren't big, they come in small bowls, and you're paying about $20 each for them, but they were surprisingly good. Not the best poke ever, but good enough for Big Bear. Both bowls had ahi but different flavorings and toppings. We were initially told that they would be able charger per table... and we went in setting the tone based on set expectations. We were informed that management had requested everything to be on one bill... not split per table. Now based on numbers it would have made ZERO difference if everything was split up with cost and tax... so it was really disappointing. I had not been able to eat yet but I ended up Having to get the check, go to each table , tally what each table ordered and then calculate what that tables total cost was. Then I took the tax percentage and added that to each amount and then each person went up to pay that amount. In the end we made sure everything was covered and we do appreciate the hosting of the party but I think as a business you would want to stick to set expectations and not need to see a big bill if it makes no difference in cost. I wanted to give you 5 stars but I could not based on having to do what I did for the check and not being able to eat my food because of it. So its our first time in Big Bear and we decide to get the full mountain experience. Should we go skiing at Bear Mountain? uh-uh, maybe snowboarding at Snow Summit? nah! lets start yelping and find some eats! We find this generally well reviewed Italian joint and they left a menu at our cabin, we figured its meant to be. we head over and the place is packed. there's a 30 minute wait , but the guy taking names tells my bro they can take our order and have it ready at our table by the time we sit. I am stoked. what a brilliant concept( not sure Jerry Seinfeld would find it very original though). Me and my bro chat up the lady taking our order, I'm joking with her about giving me some tips on where to find good Italian food on the mountain, she gets us some french vanilla caps while we wait. this place is looking promising. We order all our food sans-drinks. Figured we can order at the table when were there. We order a peperoni and mushroom pie to share and everybody orders their individual orders. Chicken Alfredo, 2 lasagnas, spaghetti with meatballs, taste of Italy trio. a douche in nice guys clothing comes and asks if we would mind splitting up our group because he has two large groups to accommodate. I instantly imagine him trying to split the other group and him getting a hard time about it from the other group. Being the cool dudes that we are, we're like "no problem". We get seated right next to the huge table that would have easily accommodated our party of 9. It sits there clean, lonely. Just waiting for people to eat on it the entire time we are at the restaurant. and what happened to this other imaginary large group, unwilling to bend in their seating arrangements? They never come. Our food gets there a full 30 minutes after we've sat down. So what of this great time-saving strategy of ordering food while we wait? They never get our drink order, the pizza is soggy and the lasagna tasted like Stouffers. I glance over at the table where the other people from our group are at and all I see is low rate food from a low rate joint. Oh how bad Italian food must be in Big Bear if this is the gathering place for the best. During our 30 minute wait for a table I saw a picture in honor of the departed owner Mr Maggio. I bet he's turning over in his grave to see his place run so bad. read more

I dont recommend going here biggest waste of time and ruined our day. The manager or owner whoever he was at the main counter so rude. Our family was seated by the waiter and given menus and we waited for almost 30 minutes before I finally walked up and asked when someone would come to take out order and said I was lying when I said the waiter did not tell me to come up and order. He then was so rude when He asked what my table number was and I said I didn't see one and he made made me point which one and then said "like I can tell which one it is by you pointing" then when I finally got to order he swiped my credit card like 10 times on his machine and bent the magnetic bar code on the because he was so forceful and I couldn't use it the rest of our vacation which really sucked. I saw another family sit down and I saw them waiting so I told them they needed to go up and order and they were happy to find that out. What place has someone be seated at their tables and then makes them get back up again to go order? Why would they think people would just assume what they need to do? Then the food took forever to come so an hour later since getting there we started eating which ruined our plans for the night and our kids were going crazy. They were good about coming every 5 minutes while we are to ask if we were done yet to clear our plates so that they could have our table for someone else.. I love pizza and So the rest of the trip I went to No Name pizza and Saucy mamas which were both really good. read more

Went there today for lunch, pizza is sub par... they make cheese pizzas and just heat it up with your topping choice. Tried the original sub, it was decent but lacked flavor unless you dumped Italian dressing on it and to top off my "wonderful" experience I had a side salad and ordered ranch. I was Leary when I confirmed if it was ranch and not blue cheese due to an allergy and the server wasn't sure. After smelling and tasting I assumed it was ranch as he told me, but they make there dressing in house and the blue cheese is essentially ranch with small crumbles in it... after rushing to the bathroom to throw up, I was left with an upset/empty stomach which led to a migraine by the end of the day. All because they can't even tell the difference in their own dressing. Was never offered any type of alternative or refund. Well, me and my family came to big bear for the weekend. When we got to our cabin we were starving even though i ate wendy's before we got up to the mountain. Anyways, my two uncles found this menu from this place called "Maggio's", seriously i didn't care, all i wanted to do was eat. So they yelped this place becasue there are now huge fans of this site soo i signed up. Anyways, we got to this place and it was packed so I thought it MUST BE GOOD!The wait was about 40 minutes so they ordered because supposedly our order would be ready by the time we get our order. We got our table and we got our food like 30 minutes later. I was like fine, whatever! I ordered the chicken alfredo... let me tell you, IT SUCKED!! And also the guy never asked what we wanted to drink.The chicken tasted as if they bought it from the grocery store and cooked it there. I had to give this place a try! I've been there a few times now and I have not been disappointed! The food was delicious! The portions were generous with awesome flavor and I could taste the freshness of the veggies. Especially the South of the Border or Vato Pizza! I saw them making the dough for the pizza when I went on one occasion because it was so busy. They make their own bread too! So fresh. My favorite sandwich is the pastrami. I noticed they had gotten some new tables and lights in their dining room. It looks really classy. They said they aren't done yet...I wonder what else they are going to do? It's hard to improve on a place that's already perfect! I had to ask, and I even learned that this place has been in business since the 1980's Wow! My family likes the food here but the service really is horrible. When I go to a restaurant and are spending money, I expected to be treated well. The owners barely notices us and are rude. We have been there several times and after the 5th time, we have decided not to patronize this place anymore. We now rather drive another 15 minutes into town to go to either Saucy Mama's or Paoli's. Seriously, is it really that hard for you to say hello and treat us like valued customers. We frequently go to Big Bear and patronize several restaurants. We used to go there whenever we go along with Dynasty (Chinese/Mongolian), BJ's, Boo Bear's, etc. The other restaurants in Big Bear are so much better! Our go to pizza joint is now Saucy Mama... unless they are too busy then we go to Paoli's. read more

Maggio's is one of my favorite spots for Italian food and pizza in Big Bear, a true local gem! Whether sitting down to dine in or ordering out, the experience is consistently enjoyable and kid friendly. The place does get busy, especially during peak hours, so expect some wait time for your food. We were up at Maggio's Pizza for the Labor Day weekend always try to stop in for a bit to eat whenever we are in the Big Bear area. The pizza was a good as ever and the salad was tasty. Pizza was good, the ranch was good which is a must at a pizza place. The new fountain machine is nice and the staff is super friendly. Only thing was the crust was a little too crisp. Overall great place to eat. read more
