Casual pizza place. Good amount of toppings on pizza. Also had chicken Parmesan and mozzarella sticks, didn't care for it. Mozzarella sticks were battered differently than most places and chicken Parmesan wasn't breaded and no description of that on menu. Friendly table service. read more

Great staff, delicious food, and all priced well. We love bringing all our family here when we are in town. They can easily sit large groups when not busy, and when busy they will accommodate but might be a wait. They also have green olives as a pizza topping which is my favorite and so hard to find. read more

I have, for the most part, given up on getting quality pizza anywhere after living on 9 states. Imagine my suprise to find one of the best pizzas of my life in Big Bear, CA. As always, I checked reviews, and the restaurant in the busy tourist part of town had the best rating, but Maggie's was closer with easy parking, so what the heck. Storefront pizza parlor in a big Vons shopping center, so plenty of parking. You can smell the food from anywhere in the parking lot. We were greeted at the counter and given menus to take to the table to decide. You go back up to order and pay, get a number, and get your own drinks. The food is delivered. They have one of those drink machines with hundreds of push button options that my grandson loved. I think he tried 10 combinations. We ordered a large salad with cheese and a large works pizza. The salad was a good sized set up with mixed greens and a wonderful vinegrette. Plenty for three. The pizza came, and man, did it have the works. Everything you could think of and all fresh. Thinly sliced zucchini, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and every meat you can think of. The crust was perfect, and the sauce sublime. We couldn't even finish half between the three of us. Wow, was that a great pizza! Service was post covid standard. Had to ask for a third plate and silverware, but they were very friendly at the counter and trying hard. Normally, I would knock a star off for service, but the pizza was that good. Highly recommended. read more

Update: they have the only gluten-free pizza on the mountain, and my wife tries to stay on gluten-free diet, so this is our go-to place now. We've tried many gluten-free options, it's always on time and always delicious. read more

We love Maggio's, the service at this establishment is amazing. We always feel very welcomed when we go Eat there. The staff are awesome, they are friendly and attentive to our needs. The food is Amazing so dam Delicious and they have reasonable prices. Maggio's is a must!!!! Before they attend you they inform you of the waiting time but what I love about this place is the wait time has not been more than an hour. The ambiance is family friendly. Love it!! read more

Although we waited TWO hours to get our food, the food was really good. They definitely need a better system when it comes to determining how long the wait will be. Also, the girl in the front who resembles Farrah Faucet was extremely rude. She wasn't accommodating at all and doesn't handle stress well. She's better off finding a less chaotic job like at a bookstore or something. read more

This 4th of July weekend was my first in Big Bear in over 10 years. We booked a great cabin and decided on Maggio's for dinner for our first night there. I just loved their ham and pineapple pizza, we also got cheese tortellini and other pastas that were also killer. Our mushroom pizza was burnt, but it wasn't a deal breaker. I just felt like the food went straight through me and a few days later I'm still recovering. read more

Baxter and I tried Maggio's for the first time for my sweet husbands birthday. We got a pizza box to go and enjoyed the pizza outside under the stars. The staff were wonderfully friendly and made me feel right at home here in Big Bear. The crust was lack luster and plain, but the sauce was perfectly sweet and salty, and the cheese and pepperoni were filled with flavor. All around a good birthday dinner under the stars. read more

Got a medium pepperoni, mushroom, olive, sun dried tomatoes, red sauce pizza. The dough and red sauce was wonderful! The dough was airy and crisp and the sauce seem fresh and simple. Be careful when ordering to many watery toppings. The pile so much that my pizza was near the point of soggy. Awesome pizza whill have to come back again. Great for sit-down or take-out. read more

My go to spot when I am in Big Bear. Been here several times and have liked everything that I have gotten. Nice place, friendly staff. Only complaint is that the last time I was there the takeout was on the slow side. While we were waiting for food we watched several groups come in, sit down, and obtain their food while we waited. read more

We used to come here all the time many years ago and something changed. The pizza turned to cardboard and we started going to red barron across the street. A few years have passed and we decided to give them another shot. We know it is busy and have no issues with the order taking an hour or more but we were told 40-45 minutes. After an hour and ten minutes I went to call the restaurant just to get an update. It rang once but my phone was echoing for some reason so I quickly hung up and called back. After one ring a gentleman answered the phone and said "I didn't want to talk to you either" and then HUNG UP!!! Clearly this is EXTREMELY rude and I assume not how you want to run the restaurant. A few minutes later our pizza and chicken parm hero arrived. Everything was room temperature and had no flavor. The pizza was just cardboard. Sadly due to the employee and lack of flavor we will not be returning. Sad to see how this business went downhill read more

We ordered pizza to go. Picked this place because it was closest to where we were staying. Upon arrival, the place was packed! It smelled delicious and given the amount of business we felt pretty confident in our choice. The wait was about 40 minutes, which felt normal for a Sunday night and a busy place. We got our pizza and while it smelled good, the taste was lackluster. We ordered half pepperoni and half veggie. The pepperoni half was super salty, the veggie half tasted watery. It just overall wasn't great, but wasn't the absolute worst we've ever had. The employees were friendly and although it was busy they all had a smile on their faces and a friendly tone of voice! read more

Great food and great service! I called ahead for a phone order assuming there would be a bit of a wait as it was a Sunday evening on a three day holiday weekend. The lady told me right away what the current wait for phone orders were and again reminded me once I was done placing my order with her. When we arrived to pick up the food, the restaurant was absolutely packed. Everyone inside was very friendly and continued to inform me of the status of my order. I can't believe I waited so long to try this place. It's so good! It's away from the Village, so it's not overly crowded, but does get busy. They have pizza, pasta, sandwiches, and salads. The staff is friendly and the food is good! To me the best part, that is alone worth 5 stars, is that they have gluten free pizza crust in different sizes, and varieties (rice flour or cauliflower), as well as gluten free pasta!!!! Such a win for me! read more

If you think Kraft Mac and Cheese is a gourmet meal, this place is for you. The pastas (at least the [seafood] carbonara, fettuccine alfredo, and mexican spaghetti) are all just dollar box pastas served with sauce from a jar on top. I'm not exaggerating. It's the same pasta and sauce you find at Walmart for $1 each, with practically zero additional seasoning. The presentation doesn't even try to hide this. A mound of boiled cheap pasta with a homogeneous scoop of pasta "sauce" on top. No cream to make the sauce at least palatable, no garlic/garnishes, not even salt and pepper. The most "seasoning" you get are some dry pieces of chicken or pre-frozen seafood in the case of the seafood pastas. The quality of either meat are terrible, tasting freezer burned and possibly microwaved. And they make money off this? Their margins must be incredible. The calzone was terrible as well. Not only was it dripping with pre-cum and bland on the inside, parts of the dough were raw. And just look at this presentation. Come on, 16-year-olds at Papa Johns would get fired for serving something like this. In fact, Papa Johns is literally just better in every aspect. Papa. Johns. They really set the bar low with this one. Their one redeeming quality is the pizza, which is honestly just a little worse than Pizza Hut. A huge success for this restaurant, I suppose. Maybe we came on a bad day, but this is quite literally the worst restaurant I've ever been to. It actually confuses me how this place can have such a high review. It could be that this city, in particular, has lower food standards than the rest of the nation, or perhaps the restaurant's owners have their friends and family exaggerate their reviews on Yelp. Either way, this is a one-star restaurant and should be avoided if you can cook better than an 8-year-old. read more

When you're craving pizza all you want is a chewy delicious crust. If you're looking for that, you will not find it here. I am honestly in shock that anyone would actually serve this. It's like air meets cardboard. You're better off ordering dominos or buying a frozen pizza. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Y'all need to change your ways. read more

Used to be good , but seems to be on the decline. I ordered a side of meatballs which didn't make it and the pizza was supposed to be extra cheese...see pic . I called the delivery service and they refunded 5 dollars when the extras were actually 6 something. I know it's dollar, but it's rather pathetic to pull things like that with your customers. read more

Ordered my pizza at 6:30pm and was told our order would be ready in 1.5hrs. Considering how busy they were, I understand, however, after arriving to pick up my pizza at the 1.5hr mark, they said it's still not ready... I'm usually understandable however as I sat down at one of the tables waiting for my pizza, I talked to another guest next to me and they said they waited only 30 minutes for their pizza.. Order is STILL not ready and it's been over 2 hrs.... Poor customer service. Very inconsistent timing for customers. Will never EVER come back. Update: they admitted they COMPLETELY missed our order which caused the extra delay. We got a 30% refund but that's beyond the point. If you genuinely missed the order in the beginning don't LIE about it for over an hour about it and keep telling us "they're working on it". Please just be honest and upfront next time than continuously lying about it until the end. We have kids waiting at home for this food and they really were looking forward to this. By the time we got our food, half the order was cold. Just really really really unfortunate. read more

So its our first time in Big Bear and we decide to get the full mountain experience. Should we go skiing at Bear Mountain? uh-uh, maybe snowboarding at Snow Summit? nah! lets start yelping and find some eats! We find this generally well reviewed Italian joint and they left a menu at our cabin, we figured its meant to be. we head over and the place is packed. there's a 30 minute wait , but the guy taking names tells my bro they can take our order and have it ready at our table by the time we sit. I am stoked. what a brilliant concept( not sure Jerry Seinfeld would find it very original though). Me and my bro chat up the lady taking our order, I'm joking with her about giving me some tips on where to find good Italian food on the mountain, she gets us some french vanilla caps while we wait. this place is looking promising. We order all our food sans-drinks. Figured we can order at the table when were there. We order a peperoni and mushroom pie to share and everybody orders their individual orders. Chicken Alfredo, 2 lasagnas, spaghetti with meatballs, taste of Italy trio. a douche in nice guys clothing comes and asks if we would mind splitting up our group because he has two large groups to accommodate. I instantly imagine him trying to split the other group and him getting a hard time about it from the other group. Being the cool dudes that we are, we're like "no problem". We get seated right next to the huge table that would have easily accommodated our party of 9. It sits there clean, lonely. Just waiting for people to eat on it the entire time we are at the restaurant. and what happened to this other imaginary large group, unwilling to bend in their seating arrangements? They never come. Our food gets there a full 30 minutes after we've sat down. So what of this great time-saving strategy of ordering food while we wait? They never get our drink order, the pizza is soggy and the lasagna tasted like Stouffers. I glance over at the table where the other people from our group are at and all I see is low rate food from a low rate joint. Oh how bad Italian food must be in Big Bear if this is the gathering place for the best. During our 30 minute wait for a table I saw a picture in honor of the departed owner Mr Maggio. I dont recommend going here biggest waste of time and ruined our day. The manager or owner whoever he was at the main counter so rude. Our family was seated by the waiter and given menus and we waited for almost 30 minutes before I finally walked up and asked when someone would come to take out order and said I was lying when I said the waiter did not tell me to come up and order. He then was so rude when He asked what my table number was and I said I didn't see one and he made made me point which one and then said "like I can tell which one it is by you pointing" then when I finally got to order he swiped my credit card like 10 times on his machine and bent the magnetic bar code on the because he was so forceful and I couldn't use it the rest of our vacation which really sucked. I saw another family sit down and I saw them waiting so I told them they needed to go up and order and they were happy to find that out. What place has someone be seated at their tables and then makes them get back up again to go order? Why would they think people would just assume what they need to do? Then the food took forever to come so an hour later since getting there we started eating which ruined our plans for the night and our kids were going crazy. They were good about coming every 5 minutes while we are to ask if we were done yet to clear our plates so that they could have our table for someone else.. Went there today for lunch, pizza is sub par... they make cheese pizzas and just heat it up with your topping choice. Tried the original sub, it was decent but lacked flavor unless you dumped Italian dressing on it and to top off my "wonderful" experience I had a side salad and ordered ranch. I was Leary when I confirmed if it was ranch and not blue cheese due to an allergy and the server wasn't sure. After smelling and tasting I assumed it was ranch as he told me, but they make there dressing in house and the blue cheese is essentially ranch with small crumbles in it... after rushing to the bathroom to throw up, I was left with an upset/empty stomach which led to a migraine by the end of the day. All because they can't even tell the difference in their own dressing. Was never offered any type of alternative or refund. Anyways, my two uncles found this menu from this place called "Maggio's", seriously i didn't care, all i wanted to do was eat. So they yelped this place becasue there are now huge fans of this site soo i signed up. Anyways, we got to this place and it was packed so I thought it MUST BE GOOD!The wait was about 40 minutes so they ordered because supposedly our order would be ready by the time we get our order. We got our table and we got our food like 30 minutes later. I was like fine, whatever! I ordered the chicken alfredo... let me tell you, IT SUCKED!! And also the guy never asked what we wanted to drink.The chicken tasted as if they bought it from the grocery store and cooked it there. I had to give this place a try! I've been there a few times now and I have not been disappointed! The food was delicious! The portions were generous with awesome flavor and I could taste the freshness of the veggies. Especially the South of the Border or Vato Pizza! I saw them making the dough for the pizza when I went on one occasion because it was so busy. They make their own bread too! So fresh. My favorite sandwich is the pastrami. I noticed they had gotten some new tables and lights in their dining room. It looks really classy. They said they aren't done yet...I wonder what else they are going to do? My family likes the food here but the service really is horrible. When I go to a restaurant and are spending money, I expected to be treated well. The owners barely notices us and are rude. We have been there several times and after the 5th time, we have decided not to patronize this place anymore. We now rather drive another 15 minutes into town to go to either Saucy Mama's or Paoli's. Seriously, is it really that hard for you to say hello and treat us like valued customers. We frequently go to Big Bear and patronize several restaurants. We used to go there whenever we go along with Dynasty (Chinese/Mongolian), BJ's, Boo Bear's, etc. The other restaurants in Big Bear are so much better! The wife ordered scrambled eggs, pancake, and sausage, & sausage patty, it was the senior breakfast. She said everything was amazing. The pancake was fluffy tasted great. The eggs were cooked to perfection. Not those hard eggs it looked burnt on the side, but eggs that were cooked to point. Great food. The service was also outstanding as always. Your restaurant had a good flow of customers coming and a number of them picking up orders to go. This will definitely be on our breakfast stops while we're up visiting the mountain. We ordered the pecan cinamon roll French toast and country style eggs Benedict with an English muffin on the side. We had been told the French toast came with a side, so we ordered bacon on a whim although we didn't really want a side. The country style Benny was good. The French toast wasn't great, and just seemed to be made from store bought white bread with pecans sprinkled on top. We received the English muffin and took a bite in it and spit it out immediately realizing it had been sent out with a big section covered in mold. We also received the bill and saw we were charged an extra 5.50 for bacon we were told came with the meal. The staff gave us a dessert for the mold but it was just very, very off-putting.

We love sitting on the back patio, it's dog friendly, which is a huge plus when we bring our teacup poodle to join us :) It's a little outside of the main village, but it's right by beautiful Boulder Bay, so it's definitely worth the short drive. The food is always delicious, and they have a huge selection of homemade pies that are hard to pass up even after a full meal This has been one of our favorite breakfast spots for years, and we'll definitely keep coming back. The food was fantastic--the ribeye was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, and the short rib was absolutely wonderful. The soup, salad, and fresh bread were all so good as well. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!…read more I honestly can't believe how disrespectful and unprofessional the host was. There was absolutely no manners, courtesy, or respect shown toward us as customers. From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing. We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant all week. There were plenty of tables available, yet because we had two children with us--who are actually very well behaved--we were seated outside. Then we waited about 10 minutes just to get our drinks. Our salads and soup arrived with NO UTENSILS. On top of that, there was HAIR in my son's Caesar salad. What made it even worse was the lack of concern or urgency when we brought these issues to their attention. Then came the steaks. For a restaurant calling itself a steakhouse, the steaks were absolutely terrible. My steak was supposed to be medium rare, but it was completely overcooked. There was nothing medium rare about it, and honestly, I was disgusted by the entire experience. I've been to some of the top steakhouses, and I have never experienced service or food this disappointing. We were so dissatisfied that we ended up having to go buy takeout pizza afterward just to have something decent to eat. We waited all week to try this place, and unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment from beginning to end. I've already told my family about our experience, and I'll be sharing it with my friends as well. Extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this experience to anyone.
