This was my first time in the establishment to get a men haircut and honestly I wouldn't go back or recommend it to any of my friends. The barber was rough on my head and didn't bother to clean up the hair that he cut off on my face also most barber would use alcohol spray or wipes to clean after they cut he just used a blow dryer above my neck to clean off the hairs he cut. This salon's decor is aesthetically pleasing and similar to my style. With that in mind, I was optimistic about making an appointment for my hair. The stylists are polite and professional. Magic Mel is an absolute jerk. I went in and asked if I could please have one of the stylists use a toner on my hair... He looked at me and then called one of the stylists over to talk to me, because apparently he was too superior to discuss my hair... The nice stylist quoted me 20 dollars to do a quick toner and rinse. No color, just a toner to take some of the brassiness out of my blond hair. As soon as she said 20.00 he yelled at her and told her no! We can not do that. It was very awkward. He treated me and her with such blatant disrespect! I then asked, well how much then? He said it would be an all over color charge and quoted me 80.00. I looked at him blankly and said never mind then and promptly walked out. I could not believe how rude he was. I love what zhanna does with my hair! The color is always amazing and she cuts my hair so that it behaves for me and it's really easy to style in the morning. The salon is also very clean and has a lot of room so you can feel like your conversation is not super public. The complex has ample parking and lots of shops, banks and restaurants. So you can run errands, grocery shop and even buy gifts after your appointment. There is even a pet store there so the whole family is covered! read more

Went to Magic Mel's for the first time today. Have been looking for someone who does amazing highlights and I found that person today: Rosanna. She is such a talented, sweet woman and did a full set of foils on my hair today. Had been wanting to go platinum blonde and she was able to give me exactly what I have been wanting. The other staff members there (particularly Jim) were so friendly, funny, polite and just cool people. We all talked the whole time. The shop was very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Just checked out this salon because they offer eyebrow threading. Prices are competitive with my favorite threading place and she did a good job. Only wish she wouldn't ask if I want my "mustache" done. Sure I have some blonde fuzz on my lip but calling it a mustache is insulting. Also got a hair cut while I was in. Included a shampoo and blow dry for $34 (with a $10 off coupon they gave me). I usually go to the hair club too around the corner and pay around that for the same service. I may come back again mostly because its so close to my house. read more

I got my haircut last week by Rosanna. I did not have an appointment, just walked in and was warmly welcomed. I knew I wanted to cut my hair a bit shorter, but wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do. Rosanna took the time to look at my hair, play with it a little and then made some suggestions. She did a great job. I also appreciated that she brought me some magazines to read while she cut my hair. kind of a higher price than what i thought $40 for a shampoo and cut but it wasnt bad. i tend to just say "i trust you" when i get my hair cut and as long as i can put it in a pony tail i'm good. first approach it was clean, nice and cool, friendly, and a good atmosphere while getting my hair cut it wasnt that awkward silence nor a ton of gossip. She paid attention to me and she gave me magazines while she cut my hair ... in other words we talked but she didnt badger me with personal questions like some hairdressers tend to do. i liked that it was family run, one of their kids (of someone that worked there) wanted to be "a big helper" and kept the floor nicely swept. Rosanne cut my hair and i thought she did a good job. would i go back, yes. it was priced higher than i thought but i hadnt had my hair cut for 10 months so in that aspect it was worth it. Walked in an hour before closing to get my 4 and 10 year old a hair trim. They had one customer there, the female employee walked over and asked what we needed and I said just a trim for my 2 girls. As I watched her stare at her watch, and mumble under her breath, she said "well it would it be $40 for each of them.. I mean is that ok?" seriously? $40 for each child to get just a trim? No wash, no dry, just a trim... out of curiosity I said sure (I've been here one time before and it didn't even cost me that much to get mine cut!) and she walked away and whispered something to another male worker, came back and said "yeah $40 for both and it will be about 30 mins" I just said never mind and walked out. $40 to trim my 4 year olds hair? You're out of your mind. Her tone was so rude from the moment I walked in, she had one customer in a chair and an hour before closing! If you didn't want more customers lock your door and put up a closed sign. What bothers me is the fact that she just threw a random high price at me to get me to decline and go away. She completely lacked customer service skills. If I could give 0 stars I would. That's not how you run a business. read more

Mel is an exceptional colorist... he is genius with highlights/lowlights and cuts. I am VERY particular with my color and how highlights are weaved in. He is a great listener and will give you what you want as opposed to 'give you what HE wants'... his ego is in the right place. He is super confident and has a lot of experience and a great eye but he knows the key to good repeat business... give the customer exactly what they want... and if they don't know what they want, you can count on him to suggest a style that will suit you.
