I came in for a Gel X set and pedicure and unfortunately left very disappointed. I've been a loyal customer at Lavender for five years and have referred coworkers, friends, and family because I've always had positive experiences. Until today, I've never had an issue. The older woman with dark hair and glasses who did my service was extremely rude and rough. Not only was the quality of work poor, but she continuously twisted, pulled, and yanked on my hands throughout the appointment. She muttered under her breath as if I was being difficult, yet never clearly communicated what she needed me to do. Clients aren't mind readers... simple, respectful communication goes a long way. She repeatedly drilled over my cuticles despite me saying "ouch" and instinctively pulling my hand back. It was uncomfortable and felt careless. The end result looked rushed and sloppy, and it was absolutely not worth the money spent. I was also told I needed a new set because my previous nails were too grown out for a fill. That would have been completely fine. I was willing to pay for a new set. Instead, she proceeded with a fill anyway and applied a poorly done chrome coating over it. I'm genuinely questioning whether this is the standard it's supposed to meet. To the owner: you truly have a wonderful team, especially Kevin, Tina, and MyLe, who have consistently provided excellent service. However, the behavior and quality of work I experienced today were unacceptable and have made me seriously reconsider returning. Kathy, you run a great salon, which is why this experience was so surprising. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as I can't imagine you would be comfortable with customers being treated this way. read more

I haven't had any manicures since coming to San Diego, so I was not sure where was popular with the locals. I chose to try Lavender Nail Lounge because I thought the photos looked nice. I came on a weekday afternoon and it was not busy at all. I made an appointment but honestly probably didn't need one. I was greeted by a man seated near the entrance who presumably organizes the clients and nail artists. He directed me to a seat and gave me time to select a color. There were a TON of colors and I ultimately settled on a classic, bright red. I did not catch my nail tech's name but she did an overall great job. She was gentle and quick with nail shaping/prep and cuticle care. I didn't go for extensions and she made my kind of uneven nails look amazing. My hands looked awesome before she even got started with the polish. She applied the gel coat very evenly with no bubbles or streaks, and got close to all the nail edges and cuticle. My only complaint is that I discovered a fair bit of topcoat on the skin around several of my nails. She cleaned up the red polish nicely but I wish she was more thorough with topcoat cleanup. My total for a gel mani was $45 + tip, which feels like a pretty reasonable price for a manicure that I am quite happy with. Next time I will definitely remember to apply sunscreen to my hands though since the UV cure light was quite strong. read more

I have been coming to this salon since Oct. 2024. I have had 3 different nail techs and they all did a fabulous job on my gel-x sets. I go to Angie now consistently but i think anyone that does your nails will do a great job. I just started taking my 16yr old daughter and she is so pleased with the results. We have been to several different nails salons and this one always delivers on the nail art we request. The nail salon is clean and always enjoy the music they play. read more

I just left this salon and I won't be going back. I haven't been there in about a year. I requested a gel mani and the manicurist was distracted by her phone, charged $45, and was done in 20 minutes. Came in here to try it out since it's close to my work and got my acrylics removed and a gel manicure after. The acrylic removal itself was the worse. Not only did it take almost an hour but the machine was so painful and I got a few cuts from it with how much they kept trying to scrape off the acrylic. To top it off, my gel manicure is not even a week old and is lifting and peeling. I am definitely dissatisfied with the quality of their gel products and would not come back here. read more

I had a good experience here, and thought I found my "nail spot". It's close to work, I can stop in right after and grab dinner before heading back home. Perfect. Unfortunately, on my next visit I got GelX instead of my usual acrylic. I did like how they looked, but less than a week later 3 had started to lift and were hurting my nail bed whenever they snagged or touched anything. I went back in and decided to go back to acrylics, thinking it was probably just the product not agreeing with me. During the manicure, the tech filed down too deep and I started to bleed. He didn't clean the nail or anything. I was terrified I was going to develop an infection. The shaping was an awful square shape despite me asking for almond shape...I am not a complainer so I decided I could live with it. Unfortunately, 2 days later two nails lifted again hurting my nail bed. I had to put bandaids around them to secure them in place to prevent pain. On the 4tn day another came of completely in the shower. I found some time to go in to have them fixed, which they were nice enough to do for free. However it's only went down hill from there. PICTURED: the state of my nails less than two weeks after application of full set and after going in to fix all the ones that had fallen off about a week ago. The left pointer was actually glued to my skin in the tip which led to a lot of discomfort and bleeding. Now before I get a message from the owner saying that the nails don't fall of on their own...I do not live a rough lifestyle. I work in an office, no heavy lifting. I don't not do anything that would cause my nails to repeatedly lift or fall of completely after a few days (I can usually go 3-4 weeks before needing a fill and have zero lifting at other places). I'm going to have the remaining acrylics removed and give my nails a break since the one pictured is in such bad shape. Needless to say I won't be going back there. read more

Decided to try this place since the place I was going to, my toe polish started chipping within a week of a pedi. I can usually go about 3-4 weeks without one, if there is no chipping. I have gone twice and no chipping! Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. The chairs are clean and comfortable. I usually get an appointment with Jenny who does my nails perfect every time and she's the best (the ones she did are the red ombre). yesterday i went in with an appointment booked for jennie but got vivian instead. it was fine at first until i was met with her unwelcoming attitude. she started drilling my skin with the drill bits and was buffing my hands way too hard. i had a reference photo open the entire time but the result was nothing similar. i called today to get a new appointment and get them redone but i was just told it was MY fault and they were being very rude about me wanting to get them redone. i'm sad to have to leave jenny but after today i do not want to return to a space with such poor customer service (coming from someone who works in the service industry). update: i went in today and jenny redid my nails perfectly and for free she's the best read more

Really nice people but the work needs work. No way i paid $20 extra for a gel pedicure service. I brought the deluxe service which was $49. In total i paid 69 which was no problem but the lady messed up on my toes and the paint melted because the heat was on high so she had to restart and her employees were rushing her so I didn't get the full service exactly. By the time i got home it still wasn't giving and my paint looked melted. read more

I found my last nail shop!! I saw this business being built and watched it for a while until it had enough reviews to capture my attention. And, I am SO glad I went!!! All you have to do is look at my pic. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, if I weren't pressed for time, I would write a thousand!! This place is the real deal! Cathy runs the show, and she is a true professional. My nails were done by Jenny. And, let me tell you she will be the only one who ever does my nails. She is a true artist. She can do a dip French manicure - all with dip! That means that your nails are smooth all the way through. And, she is a master with design! I mean, she is a MASTER!! Take her a photo. She can replicate and make it look as good as the photo - if not better! Lena gave me my pedicure. And, if it weren't for the fact that I don't like taking pics of my toes, I would have posted that too. Lena gives amazing massages and stone rubs! Both ladies are so kind.
