    Weekday Daily Special 2024 July

Got the $10+tax+tips daily [11am~3pm] lunch special on Thursday, the beef noodle bowl. The beef are multiple thinner slices of beef, not the square big briskets as in nearby more expensive noodle restaurants. Overall the bowl is pretty big portion, lots of long noodles fairly filling, can easily add more spicy sauce provided on the side of table. The server said daily special is for dine in only (not takeout), and cash only (no debit/credit cards), so you cannot avoid tips in cash. Still one of the best value noodle option nearby, Also we ordered the $3 lamb skewers appetizer, and the server gave away a cup of cold drink for free, very kind.

Pretty clean-looking interior, the tables are spaced apart. Depending on where in the restaurant, can also enjoy a noodle pulling show. Watch those noods form while waiting. The noodles are more 3.5 stars but the appetizers and snacks fell short so they pulled the rating down. Do not order the beef scrolls, not worth the money. As the name suggests, dry thin wrapped beef and greens. The beef to green ratio was almost 50/50, mostly tasted like greens to be honest. The beef was almost non-existent under the dry wrap. The noodles are as expected which was a good thing. "Hand-pulled, fresh and fast." Personally biased and have a love for soup noodles so this really hit the spot. The noodles and soup were hot. They do not skimp on the portion which was definitely very filling, good value for money. Overall, will be back for a bowl of hot noodles on a chilly day.

Date visited : Wednesday April 20, 2022 Overall Rating for experience : 3.5/5 Comments : First time dining at the Woodside location. Friendly staff. Service : 4/5 Good & fast service, we came around 8pm on Wed for our order. Place was relatively clean. Food : 3.5/5 During this visit we order the Triple B noodle soup with Classic style noodles and the Magic Chicken noodle soup with Ribbon style noodles. Along with skewered Tofu Manch and Sizzling tentacles. I would like to make those aware, the product images are more accurate to presentation on their website vs the dine-in menu. Dine in menu product shots don't look close to what you are presented with. With an exception to the Signature Soup noodles perhaps. The product shots on the website match the dine-in menu. I ordered the Magic Chicken for myself and the breaded chicken thigh came on the side not as presented on the product shot. Along with the Tofu being drenched in hoisin sauce, the hoisin sauce was overpowering. Would have preferred the hoisin on the side as a dip. As for the Sizzling tentacles, for near $3.00 CAD, sorry this isn't worth the money you only get 1 piece on the skewer, my wife and I enjoy squid, and this was a disappointment for us. I enjoyed the Magic Chicken broth with the Ribbon type noodles, very filling. Wish there was more protein, but I digress, I think the noodles are meant to the the star of the show at this resto and the rest are supporting cast. Wifey enjoyed the Triple Beef w/Classic noodles. However, for both of us tho, we were unable to finish the broth of our soups. After we consumed the noodles and the other ingredients in our respective bowls, the remaining broth was too salty for our tastes. NOTE : for those that are managing GOUT. There are not as many Gout friendly options to choose from on the menu. Lots of beef, some pork, lamb and there is also Innards. Also be careful with the Savory Wonton noodle soup, the wontons have pork. Not as many Chicken options that I would like to see. Drinks : Pitcher of water with a 2nd pitcher requested. Portion Size Value for Money Spent : 3.5/5 Portion size for the noodle soups we ordered was fine for the price of $11.99 each. However the Sizzling tentacles we were underwhelmed with what we received for $2.89 CAD the skewered tofu with 4 pieces was fair for $2.89. Worth a repeat visit : Most definitely. Due to not that many good fresh hand pulled noodle spots around where we live within 10-15 min drive from our home. This is closer to us than the location in Milliken, north of Finch along Midland.

There's around ten tables inside and it was not super busy on a Sunday night. I got the soup lamb noodle, pork pan fried buns and the pork dry noodle. My favourite was the buns. They were crispy and the filling was flavourful and meaty. The soup lamb noodle was pretty good too. The broth was hearty and hit the spot. The pork noodle was average, it had a unique spice flavour. Both of the noodles had very little meat though. Service was quick, not super friendly but was attentive when we need it. A decent spot not sure if I'd come back given all the different options around.

Our server was friendly and made recommendations after asking us if it was our first visit which was helpful. We opted for a steamed noodle dish, seaweed salad, beef noodle soup and pan fried pork dumplings. The braised beef noodles soup came with chunks of tender beef shank morsels with wide flat noodles that were chewy and silky at the same time. The broth was not the usual tomatoey kind which I liked. The seasoning was perfect for my palate, as I tend to use less salt to cook at home. This was a solid noodle soup experience. The server brought out a small scissor to cut the noodles with, but we didn't really need to use it. The pan fried pork dumplings was juicy with nice skin. I brought some leftovers home, and my daughter devoured them while gushing about how delicious these were. Guess we'll have to come back here. The seaweed salad was well seasoned and on point as well. Perhaps our least favorite was the steamed noodle dish which felt a bit dry for my liking, but this was also good when eaten with a fresh garlic they provided on the side. Overall, the meal here was very satisfying and I hope to return to try other offerings soon.

The beef was so tender and rich with flavour as was the broth, bok choy, leeks and coriander. The fresh thin wide noodles were delicious too. I was so amazed at the skill and speed of watching hand-pulled noodles being made! They came from a small slab of dough in less than 60 seconds! You can choose from nine different shapes and sizes of noodles and watch someone hand-pull them through a glass window! So cool! This was a lot of food so I could only finish half and took the rest home. They have so many other dishes I want to try so I'll be back. Highly recommend! Big thanks to my server Joewin who helped make my first visit so welcoming and memorable! The service and meal arrived super fast because I arrived 11:30am on a Monday before lunch crowd. It seems that they didn't do much promotions for the grand opening as the restaurant was super quiet for Thursday dinner, that there was only 1 other table when we dined. Their offering was also kinda confusing, because we came here for their authentic Guilin rice noodle, but they also sell BBQ skewers, which is a cuisine style from a completely different Chinese province. We ordered medium size #101, 102, and 103 from their Guilin rice noodle menu. #101 and 102 looked and tasted very similar, so we weren't really sure which one was which. Taste wise the noodle in sauce tasted pretty authentic, similar to what we had in our home town. The soup noodle had pretty good broth, but kinda lacked toppings. I'm giving 4 stars for the authentic Guilin rice noodle taste and the nice interior of the restaurant. But I'm conflicted if I want to visit again, because eating at such a quiet restaurant was pretty awkward.

The place itself pretty nice, though definitely not pretentious or fancy. The server recommended me to try their noodle with marinated pork (in the picture). They are extremely tasty! If you happen to get this dish, do ask one of the server to get you extra sauce on the side. It's REALLY salty, but also practically addicting. Dishes are served with rice noodles. They are much lighter as compared to your "every day" noodles, so I am a pretty big fan. I will definitely be back for more next time I am in the area.

The business on Google said it opens at 11, and I tried to come in, but she was not ready. I waited for a long time to get tea. Parking in this place is 2 dollars for every half hour so I was kind of hoping for faster service. I was served a piping pot of tea after 10 minutes. She was cooking up a storm in there. But it didn't feel like my meal as she was frying something... and yes as I was leaving there was an Uber eats guy. The beef noodle soups broth was very nice. Rich and tasty, a lot of sesame oil taste. Beef was good quality. Dumplings were good too. When I was leaving she mentioned that I don't have to pay for parking next time. Come and support a one woman business!

If mom and pop restaurants are your jam, Yunxi Handmade Noodles will have you swooning as it's an…read moreintimate establishment. Technically, Yunxi would be considered a mom restaurant as the female owner acts as the Jill of all trades: hostess, chef, server, and cleaner. She's a sweet lady describing what was freshly prepared for the day (in my case, the noodles) as she rotates between making noodles and preparing dumplings daily. The broth of the braised beef noodles ($14.99) was salty and strong, as one should expect from a dish that's essentially beef braised in soy sauce. I liked that Yunxi finishes the freshly made noodles in the soup to allow it to soak in flavours and develop a brownish tint. While there wasn't a whole lot of beef, the handful of chunks were lean and tender. Halfway through the meal, the owner returns with a small bowl of extra noodles, asking if we'd like a complementary top-up. Why of course, and into the bowl they go for round two. My first choice in dumplings (leek, shrimp, and pork) was sold out so we opted for the chicken and mushroom instead ($10.99 for 12). With a choice of preparation - steamed, boiled, or pan fried - I generally order them steamed as I find this leaves the dumplings the most neutral so you can appreciate the filling's flavours and the consistency of the wrapper. Unlike the noodles, the dumplings were made previously (at least a couple of days prior) so the wrapper was too hard and chewy. Consequently, I'd recommend asking the owner when things were prepared and if it isn't fresh, order the dumplings boiled to give the wrapper some extra hydration. At least the filling was juicy - use a spoon to ensure the juices aren't lost as they squirt out - and the dumplings were filled with a decent portion of the well seasoned, finely minced chicken and mushrooms.
