But it was still spicy and I couldn't handle it, my husband was still ok with it, fish was good and fresh. This Yungshang is one of the smaller one's in the GTA. When you go in, you have to put your name and phone number down on the system and wait a litte bit as it is quite busy for a table. There are also bar seats being offered. This place is always packed and filled with people because it is affordable and also people love the free refill noodles.. Also, their soup base is quite tasty and flavourful though sometimes, I find it water down. I also tried their boneless chicken rice and I really love the sauce they have. Visiting from the states and we weren't sure what to expect. There is a tablet for adding yourself to the waitlist and the wait wasn't too long considering we arrived during Saturday dinner time. They call out for customers by number in Mandarin but my friend and I are not Mandarin speakers so we almost missed our table (thank you to those who said our number!). Comforting noodle soup that hits the spot every time. I find myself frequently here as I always crave their tomato noodle soup. The soup comes in a boiling pot with all your toppings on the side. You can put in whichever toppings you like (I usually put all of them except the quail egg). Noodles are all you can eat, so after you finish your bowl of noodle, feel free to ask for another one if you have soup leftover. This place is great when it's chillier outside as the boiling soup keeps you nice and warm. Service is quick. When you go into the restaurant make sure to put yourself on the waitlist at the front door if there is a wait. Otherwise just walk in and let the servers know how many are in your party. The soup's flavors are balanced and with the addition of various ingredients, it is a very well-rounded bowl of noodles. Among the additional toppings available, my personal favorite is the beef-stuffed meatballs! Highly recommend these. The noodle soup seems to be pretty consistent across all locations. For their appetizers, I tried their New Orleans chicken wings because of an UberEats special. However, they were disappointingly small and lacked flavor and I'm unsure if it was due to their ongoing promotion. Previously, their generous portions of chicken cartilage came packed in large take-out boxes, but they seem to have downsized to smaller square containers lately. I've also tried their deep-fried squid, but unfortunately, I found the batter to be overly chunky, causing the squid to fall apart rather easily. Great service from the staff as they bring the food right away and provide refills promptly. I have tried all the non spicy noodle items and all of them stay warm for a long time so it is still steaming after your second refill. I enjoyed the cold dish potato slices for the crispy crunch and they have a unique tofu skin cold dish that has an interesting texture (It's a little on the spicier end). It was spicy, but not as spicy as I wanted it to be (after requesting extra spicy). It was a bit too oily for me and overall lacked flavour despite the spice. It wasn't the comforting kind of feeling I was hoping to get from it. We went at lunch time so it was pretty crowded. They pretty much wanted us out as soon as we were done and seemed to pay a lot of attention to this social media person who reserved a whole table and had a whole setup going while barely acknowledging the other customers. I usually get their cross the bridge noodles which consists of a really hot pot of soup accompanied by many side dishes of toppings that you slide into the soup to cook. Side dishes include meat, lettuce, corn, dried bean curd, meat sauce, pickled veggies, fishcake, sausage slices and more. The rice noodles are also unlimited :) Their original soup base is pretty good and stated to be no msg and no additives. However, I tend to find that my mouth gets really dry from the saltiness and an insatiable urge for cold water the rest of the night. My friend asked for a pitcher of water, despite us being a table of 2, and they got it for us--twice. My friend is basically a fish. They're also quick to get you noodle refills when you ask for them. I've tried the majority of their soup bases and they're all delicious! In my opinion, the spicy bases aren't actually that spicy. I wanted to come visit Yunshang as the weather was getting cold and I was craving for something hot and soupy. We came on Sat around 6pm and the restaurant was quite full but luckily we were able to squeeze into a booth for 2. Their menu basically consists of options you check off yourself (the soup, if you want to add extra meat), appetizers etc. Each soup bowl actually comes with a tray of appetizers and meat to put into the bubbling pot of soup, so It's not necessary to order the extra meat. The bowls were very big, and the broth tasted great; full of flavour. Plus you can get unlimited bowls of noodles. However, my complaint was not the food but the service. Firstly, there were 2 of us and we circled one soup but with 2 different add ons as we both wanted the same one. The server didn't even ask us to confirm was it was 1 or 2 orders and assumed it was one. And when we had to correct the servers, it was so hard to communicate because none of them spoke adequate English. I know this is a Chinese restaurant but they should still have workers who speak sufficient English to help Customers (like ourselves) who don't speak mandarin. My 2nd complaint was that we felt really rushed. I understand it was getting busy with lineups, however as paying customers, we should still be able to enjoy our food and time at the restaurant. All they kept doing was immediately rushing taking our plates without asking if we still needed it, and kept pushing for the bill. The food was great, but service definitely needs to be worked on. I ordered their Yunshang Original Rice Noodle Soup expecting it to be light. Surprisingly, it was really good and I loved it. It's taste is subtle yet overall aroma is strong. I prefer this over Dagu if you are choosing the original soup. The little goodies also vary from quail egg (my fav!), ham, corn, lap-cheung (cured sausage), shrimp to a fish ball. I enjoyed the variety. As for the noodles, it was really soft yet chewy in texture. Delicious choice though I wonder if it's handmade or not. PS. Like all these restaurants, you can refill your noodles if one bowl wasn't enough! One customer experience point I want to call out is their table system. Me and my boyfriend are practically regulars here because we come so often. We love the fact that there are unlimited refills on noodles (although I could never make it past the first round). The portion is quite more than you'd think. Also, are we the only ones that frantically throw everything into the soup as soon as they bring the boiling pot out?
