Very happy with Alan and his team! I messaged Magic Painting along with 6 other painting companies via the Yelp messaging system. Alan responded almost immediately, within 20 minutes for sure, while I still have yet to receive responses from a few of the others. I provided Alan with photos of the areas that needed work, and he quickly responded with an estimate and his number so we could get a date in place. Some family stuff came up and I put this stucco project on hold. But as soon as we returned to normal routines, I messaged Alan back. And he responded right away. That same day, we got a date set in (for 2 days later) for him to look at the property in person & give a better estimate as we found more areas that needed more stucco work. I've had a hole in my dining room ceiling because of water damage in the bathroom on the second floor. Had a very hard time finding a contractor that would try to patch the spot because we have popcorn ceiling. One guy kept canceling, others would try to convince me that there no materials to fix that ceiling and would give me quotes to remove popcorn completely and redo all ceilings. Then Alan replied to my request on Yelp. He was very responsive and honest from the beginning. Asked what I wanted and went to a store to make sure he could buy needed materials. He was available to do the work same week too. I am very happy with Alan's work and would recommend him for other painting or ceiling jobs. I also have to mention that he was careful about laying out plastic and covering the area that was being worked on that nothing else got damaged or got dust on it. Can't say enough good things about Alan and his crew. Responded immediately to my request and proposed a very fair fee to remove and cover up the location of my previous ceiling air vent. They came the next day, right on time, and proceeded to cover everything with plastic before starting. Due to a roofing leak that wrecked havoc on two bedrooms we had to get the drywall in those rooms replaced and painted. Magic was able to handle the entire job themselves and finished in 4 days. They did it call from tearing out all the bad drywall on the ceilings and walls. They got rid of the insulation as well. The sprayed down all the exposed wood in the walls and ceilings with Kilz, they first let me treat the wood with a basic Mold killer, then they replaced all the Insulation, put up new drywall, taped, mudded and sanded. Then finally painted. They also made sure everything was clean when they left. Can not say enough good things about them. I would recommend them to everyone and for all my future projects they will be the first team I call. read more

This was such a strange experience. Alan contacted me right away and asked if he could come take a look at the job to give an estimate. He also asked for pictures. After I sent him pictures he gave an estimate based on the pictures and what I told him over the phone and said he could just get started. His estimate was the lowest, so with all of the great reviews I decided to go with him. First he was late. He said that the navigation sent him to the wrong place. Fine. Then he looks at the job and right away says he's gonna need to get more materials than he thought. His partner told him that it wouldn't be necessary because of a larger tile size that was available, so he backed off of that. He goes to Home Depot to get the crown moulding needed for the job and tells me that he couldn't find the matching moulding. Now, I have the simplest crown moulding, and I've seen it everywhere. Still I thought that perhaps it has been discontinued. Of course the price jumps because he has to use different moulding and he has to take down the current moulding so it all matches. He also seemed to have forgotten that there was flat bottom moulding to be replaced too, so that is another cost. After some discussion on the phone I suggest that he come back, take a look at the entire job and give me a final estimate rather than ticking up the price over and over. He said okay. Then, after disappearing for an hour he sends a text saying that he can't do the job. So, I rescheduled all of my meeting for the day for nothing. I wasn't going to write a review. I don't like to write negative reviews. What changed my mind was that the guy who ultimately did the job (Miguel Perez Painting) was such the opposite. He was on time, he stuck to his original price and, lo and behold, he found the matching moulding that was needed at Home Depot, where Alan told me he looked. Update: I'm adding this update after the response was posted by Alan because what he said is not true at all. As I said, I suggested that he come back so that he could give me a new estimate so that I knew what the final price would actually be. I believe in paying people for their work. I own my own business too. What I don't like is people trying to nickel and dime up the price after they are in the door. Also, I have the signed proposal sitting on my desk in front of me right now so I'm not sure why he would say that I didn't want to sign it. There was never an issue about that. I don't want to argue. I just want people to be aware of this experience. read more

They removed a huge 80's wall bathroom mirror original to the house and repaired, re-textured, and repainted the entire wall to absolute perfection.
