My central AC went out and luckily the realtor gave us a year of homeowners warranty, we register online and submitted our issues. A random work order is normally issued with Old Republic Home Warranty and you don't know who you get. My first company I try to meet up with was Platinum Repairs, the person that picks up the phone after holding for 10-15 minute doesn't sound excited at all that they have business coming their way. I guess he just works there so I problem, he gets me an appointment for two days from now with a freaking four hour window between 2-6pm an AC service technician will arrive so I take 4-5 hours off work because it's 90-100 degrees in the SoCal area in July so I figure the family would love to have AC asap back up and working. F, I waited and waited until 5:30pm and figure that they aren't going to show this 1-2 star rated company on yelp but no one answers after holding 20 minutes and then you get disconnected of course when you think you got someone on the phone. I ended up calling again after 6pm and found a messaging service saying they are closed and to call back tomorrow with no option to leave a voicemail which was probably full anyways with angry clients like myself. I freaking call Old Republic to find out they were closed as well, so you have to elect the emergency option for someone to really talk to you. The lady shares how to get someone on the phone after 6pm with the warranty company and I let it rip to tell them how disappointed I was and angry that I took time off work just to have someone not call nor show up to their 4 hour window appointment! I tell the nice gal at the home warranty company please transfer my work order out, I don't even want to ever meet anyone from that company that doesn't need your business because they are acting like they don't have any bills to pay anytime soon. The gal gives me the name, "How about Magik Air" and I say "wait" let me yelp them first this time, I see 5 awesome stars and think something fell from heaven and immediately tell them "yes, please transfer me to them and give me their phone number." By now it is already after 7pm and it's still 85 to 90 degrees at home with my ceiling fan on and I just have to try to call Magik Air to see if someone will pickup so I can make an appointment to get some help within 2-3 business days. No answer...voicemail telling me they are closed and to call back, I leave my name, home warranty work order number, and phone number. I then go to their website and write them the same information I left on the voicemail. After about an hour and hating myself for not believing in 1-2 star yelp reviews of terrible companies something amazing happened, it felt that way at the time at least. Hallelujah! Someone from Magik Air says I got your message and will send someone out tomorrow morning or after 5pm to help you, this guy/owner name Gary actually calls and hooks me up with a next day appointment for 10-11am! Now this is a real appointment window and excellent service, he sends out a top notch AC technician that knows his stuff and has an apprentice following him learning the trade. He takes care of business, replaces my fuse and capacitor that was blown due to probably stupid SCE power surges and saves the day! I give them my $60 trade call since the warranty ask for that flat rate and hallelujah! I think even after the warranty ends I would call Magik Air for all my AC/heating maintenance/repairs. Call them and ask for Gary if you want quality and a reasonable business that appreciates their customers. I thank you guys and will only have good things to say for this company that knows what business and customer service really means in America. read more

We met this company through our home Warranty company, they were quick to come out and check out our fairly new unit, our air conditioning guy was out of the country, but was in contact with us. The tech they sent out "Jr" was polite, kind and very hard working. Turns out our new unit had a factory defect and 2 pinhole leaks which resulted in the freon leaking over a few months until it was depleted. Magik was able to diagnose, get approval from our home warranty company and even came out on a Saturday to finish the job and get us up and running. Thank you to the 2 techs that came out and Sam who was very gracious in finding the parts on a weekend and making sure we were taken care of. Summer's in Southern California require air conditioning! Thanks to all, the work was stellar, they left the job with everything clean and in great working order. Oh and we slept good for the first time in 3 nights! Update: all the coolant leak out, they came back out and said it was on the mfg and they weren't willing to do anything more. They even told the warranty company that it was a problem inside the exterior wall,, which it was not. But Old Republic Warrantee does not cover anything inside the exterior walls. Well we had to pay out of pocket for a company to come out and run a diagnostic only to find out The repairs were done they just fell $700 short and never filled the Freon back up?? read more

Magik Air did not make any appointment confirmation calls, were late to conduct service (without giving any notice) and failed to complete/submit repair approval report to Home Warranty company. Sam was fair and reasonable, which is extraordinary in the HVAC world. He not only sent out one of his best technicians, Roland, but he was super responsive to my questions. In fact, he even went so far as to give me his personal cell phone number. And believe me, I had lots of questions. Not only was he incredibly patient, but also informative. I felt like with his help I not only was able to select the best unit, but also save money. And what was most impressive was when he inspected my c. 1999 central air and heating unit and DID NOT try to upsell me into a newer unit. He said I should keep it until it broke, and not because he didn't want the work. He is honest, plain and simple. We had a problem with our ac unit in this heat and on top of that we had a brush fire in our area and our ac condenser was covered in ash. Luckily I found Magik air on Yelp and called them up. Sam had great customer service and put us in his schedule for a Saturday and his technicians junior and George showed up on time found the problem. Junior stayed back to clean and wash our unit while George went to the supply to buy a new compressor and in a matter of few goes our ac was back up and running even Bette than before. I have been using Gary at Magik air for years now! And I'm so confident in him and his crew, I recommend him regularly to friends and clients. I have never, ever had one person that I recommended Gary to complain about him, in fact everyone loves him and his service! It seems like Gary can fix almost anything! Gary and his team came out and installed a dryer vent for me. I asked them to come out for an estimate and they showed up ready to do the work on the spot once we agreed on the price. Their rate was more than reasonable (and beat the other guy who bid for the job by a significant amount) and the work was great. In addition to the great work they did, we had just closed on the house that morning and when I opened the door for the first time I smelled something "funky". When the technician arrived he said immediately it was a gas leak. He went above and beyond and shut down the main gas line into my house and helped me with that situation before getting down to the real reason he was there. Shopped around a bit thinking to install a 4-zone mini-split system in my 1000 sq-ft house in Echo Park. Sam patiently discussed pros and cons of a mini-split vs central AC system with me on 2 or 3 occasions. When he had a couple of guys in the neighborhood he sent them by for a no-fee consult. I have a 23-year-old AC unit with a leak so I've had to have refrigerant added twice in the last three years. I noticed the air wasn't as cold as usual so I knew it was time for more refrigerant. I wasn't happy with the previous company I had used because they seemed too expensive and the techs were a bit surly. I called Magik Air at 9:15 a.m. I was given an approximate service time of noon (the same day!). Thomas called when he was on his way and showed up around noon. He checked out the unit and gave me a thorough explanation of the problem and a quote for fixing it which was cheaper than what I had paid previously. He cleaned the unit (even showing me a picture on his phone of how dirty it was inside) and added R-22 refrigerant. He also gave me some realistic advice on thinking about replacing the unit in the near future since it's basically on its last legs, and gave me a ballpark estimate on a unit after I asked what it would cost. Thomas was very polite and professional. This was an ideal experience and I enthusiastically recommend Magik Air! read more

My home warranty Company sent a couple of sub-par contractors out to inspect a problem we were having with our AC unit. When I finally asked to see their list of contractors and checked out their Yelp reviews I found Magik Air and was I glad I did! They were backed up so I had to wait a couple of weeks, but the wait was worth it. They came when they said they would and diagnosed the problem correctly. Then a week later they installed my new compressor. Thomas found that the coils wouldn't fit above my outdated furnace so he called Sam, the owner and within a couple of hours he personally got a new furnace out to my home in Palmdale. Thomas and Roland completed the job the same day and I am happy to say everything is working perfectly. Sam is very professional and insists on getting the job done right the first time. First off my story is like so many others. I have a warranty I bought through AHS for the house. My A/c and Furnace stopped working. They were original from 1965. I took the cash option for the furnace and had it installed. I called AHS back to deal with the A/c. They sent out 2 companies of which their employees basically spent their time at the house yelling at me (seriously, they yelled at me as though it was my fault and I should have known what the heck was happening as a consumer). They kept saying why didn't the guy finish the job. They turned in negative reports which put me in a negative place. I found a loophole in the policy called back AHS and a new company was assigned to me. Magik Air. They came out, didn't yell at me, were extremely professional. They turned in a positive report, the new equipment showed up on the schedule install date, Magik Air was on site an hour before and prep'd for the removal and install of the new condenser (A/C). They had all the additional needed parts and even ones that weren't expected. Great owner, he appreciates the restored old classics cars, which is a sign to me that he appreciates perfection. I am giving this top rating based on customer service, attention, detail and instant turnaround of calls, quotes and dispatching. Sam, at Magik Air, was recommended by someone who has been working on our solar panel system. We needed a major overhaul of our system and had been putting off this work. It so happened that when I got the recommendation our A/C stopped working when it was super hot. Sam was so helpful, even providing trouble shooting by phone. It turned out that our situation could not be addressed by me but he was able to isolate the problem by walking me through a few issues over the phone (helping me explain the problem to the tech he sent, as well as the other vendors that gave us quotes). He sent an expert within 48 hours, who did a thorough review of both the immediate issue of broken A/C and the bigger issue of furnace / bad duct work etc. My husband chose another vendor for this work because the other vendor was recommended by our contractor. I wanted to go with Sam and Magik Air. I can't confirm that their installation work is excellent but the service was great in the stages in which I used the service and I am sure they are as good in the follow up as the lead up.
