My absolute favorite dish at Magill's Restaurant is the meat hash (no sausage) with eggs over easy. I could easily finish the whole plate--but my stomach says otherwise, so I usually end up taking some home. And somehow, even after a 4-hour drive, it still tastes just as amazing! It's one of the best options if you're trying to stay lower carb (okay... lower-ish carbs), no sugar, and especially if you deal with hypoglycemia. This dish just gets it. Now about the building--if you've been around for a while, you probably remember when it was Heidi Haus on Court Street. I went in there many times, and it was such a sweet, charming place. Honestly, it feels like the perfect spot for Magill's now. The character of the building really adds to the whole experience. The only thing I'd love to see improved is the service. The ladies who work there clearly have a lot of experience, but sometimes the interaction can feel a bit routine or lacking warmth. A little more friendliness and engagement would really take the experience to the next level and match how great the food is. And I mean... my poor mom ordered an orange juice and it showed up not even cold. That's one of those small details that really shouldn't be missed. But at one point that i really didn't like is a family member went to go up to pay and was confused on how to, so they went up to a tablet which was not for paying. I came from Austin for a visit with family and tried this place because it gets good reviews and looked like a local restaurant that might be a hidden gem. It is not. My mom and I tried the burgers and the kids had butterflied shrimp and macaroni and cheese. The shrimp was easily the best dish. The burger came on a hoagie bun that was more like a baguette, but was thin and sort of wet. It wasn't bad or good. The macaroni, which was supposed to be their best dish, was probably the worst I've ever had. I'm hoping that was just this one plate and not all their macs because I had ordered a take home order to take to my sister and I don't want to be responsible for subjecting her to that. There was some ketchup stuck to the side edge of my table but no one ever remembers to clean anything but the top so that didn't bother me a lot. It's many about 10 years since the last time I've eaten at Magills. My last experience was not great at all. Last Sunday I wanted to take my two little grandkids out for breakfast and thought why not Magills. As usual most restaurants are slammed on Sundays and Magills was no exception. Our 10 wait turned into 20, which honestly wasn't quite bad. Once we were seated our server did not take too long to take come take our order. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and for my grandson I ordered the kids breakfast (photos attached), now unfortunately there were no gluten free options. My youngest granddaughter has a severe dairy and gluten allergy, in this day and age it's too bad that not all restaurants accommodate those types of allergies. I ended up ordering her fruit, oatmeal and bacon, she seemed to enjoy her food. The portions for the kids breakfast were pretty large and we took most of it home, my grandson said he like the food. The Philly cheesesteak was pretty good, the meat was seasoned well and overall had a good flavor and texture. Our server was exceptional and made sure we had everything we needed. Great place to meet with friends and eat big servings of food. The have so Many items on the menus and everything I have ever had has been great. And this is a local Business that gives back to the community. I have never seen a place that has so many fund raisers for people, mostly children who have horrible health issues and lots of medical problems and medical bills. They let people have fund raisers there on weeknights and I have attended a couple and they catered to the family and the friends that were all volunteering their time and efforts to help the cause. My husband and I have eaten here quite a few times over the years, but service has definitely been lacking the last few times we've been in. The food is the same quality; good but not great. I just enjoy their Mac n cheese. We've had this waitress the last two times and the first time I thought it was an off day but she is just not cut out for this. At one point she came over to ask us how we were doing... when she hadn't even brought our food out to us! At that point we had been sitting there for 35 minutes since she took our order. Someone else brought us our food and she never came back to see if we needed anything but she was busy fixing the problems she was creating at other tables. I just moved to the area and saw a mailer with an advertisement for this restaurant and decided to give them a try. I ordered the fish and chips to go with a slice of carrot cake, since that was what I was craving for dessert. It was dark when I went to pick up my food and the parking lot was poorly lit. More on that later. The food was good, but small portions. Two tiny fish sticks, probably 3 or 4 inches long and about 1/2 thick or less. The onion rings were amazing and the cole slaw was okay, but not seasoned at all. Very bland. Needed a dab of horseradish, salt and pepper to kick it up a notch. The carrot cake was amazing! By far the best I've had in a long time. It is three layers and huge! Ate half and saved the other half for another day. The service seemed great with attentive servers. I called my order in and didn't have to wait at all. Picking up the order, I was greeted right away and given my food. Pricing is a little spendy for my taste, at least for the fish and chips for what you get with it. The carrot cake is worth every penny. The parking lot needs work. The driveway is like 300 feet past the restaurant and you end up wondering if you are driving into a farm access road until you see a road off to the right that leads up to the parking lot. I arrived at night and couldn't see anything, even with my headlights on highbeam. They have one dim floodlight over the entryway of the building and does nothing to light the parking lot. I drove by again the following day to see the parking lot during the daylight hours and it's not bad, but when you've never been there and it's dark, you wonder if the place is even open. I would rate this place 4 stars, but the parking lot issue is such a big deal to me, I have to give it 3 stars. Fix your lighting issue and I will edit my review. read more

Used to eat breakfast here all the time but stopped going because of their lack of care for the customer. The food is good but every time we go, I always ask for crispy hashbrowns and they never come out crispy. The last time I went, I asked again for crispy hash browns and the waitress looked me dead in the eye, smirked, and said we'll try. They clearly don't care about what any customer wants and don't care to change. We had an area set up, our server was pleasant and friendly, and made quick work of our group ordering. The work that went into our orders was fantastic. Our meals came out with very few errors, and if there were, our server set things right quickly. We had a great time. To be honest I was a little bit disappointed when I finally received my food with all the great reviews and pictures of food maybe I was expecting more. However the food seemed like it was something that was precooked In bulk and place on the plate when they finally got to your number. I ordered the French toast a eggs bacon with sausage and hash Browns I did ask for the hash Browns to be cooked on both sides And they did not do so.
