Steak Au Poivre and a bless your heart cocktail. Absolutely delicious. Love this place.

If you haven't tried this place you're missing out on some amazing food. The weekend menu changes so it's great to see what James is making each weekend.

Another weekend, another restaurant! To start, I would like to acknowledge just how amazing the service was. We enjoyed the dining service here immensely. We started off the meal with fried green tomatoes and boy did we love it! Definitely worth a try if you've never had fried green tomatoes or have grown up with fried green tomatoes, they will not disappoint. On a side note, they reminded me of crab cakes and I think that had to do with the sauce.. As for the meal, we tried 3 different plates; JW's Chicken Hash, pork belly hash, and eggs Pontchartrain. If you love hash browns, you'll definitely enjoy the chicken hash. My food connoisseur and I felt that the salt was a little overpowering in this dish, but I enjoyed the flavor within the dish. I wish it had more chicken though. If you're a fan of pork belly, you will LOVE the pork belly hash. You could taste the flavor of all the different veggies and it blended together perfectly. Although, the greens did add a hint of bitterness to the dish. And lastly, the eggs Pontchartrain! It came with 3 pieces of fried oyster (those were tasty). Other than that, we probably wouldn't get this dish the next time we visit. There wasn't anything special about the flavor - I'm a bigger fan of the eggs benedict at Doodah's.

Tonight's dinner is delicious....if you've not tried the four course dinner menu on the weekends, you're missing out.

We had such a delicious birthday breakfast celebration at Magnolia Cafe Wichita. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles, crab cakes Benedict, and chicken hash. Not a thing on the menu disappointed. It's newer, very clean, great staff, food came out quickly. What more could you ask for. A lot of places say they are from scratch, this place very obviously stands by that. Not only are they from scratch their menu has a fancy southern flare. We didn't go for it this time, but can't wait to come back for brunch and get some adult beverages.

Checked out this new Southern-inspired brunch place on a Saturday around 9am. It wasn't busy and we were seated immediately. The place was warm and welcoming, you tell that they've put a lot of thought into decor. I ordered an iced coffee with cream and simple syrup to start and was pleasantly surprised to find a staff member using a cocktail shaker to mix it. It was a delicious start to an even more delicious meal. We ordered the Bananas Foster Pan Perdu for the table, I ordered Eggs Pontchartrain, my sister ordered the Chicken & Waffles and my brother ordered the Grillades & Grits. The Pan Perdu was delicious but more French Toast than Pan Perdu. The Eggs Ponchartrain were amazing. There were about 6 fried oysters on my plate and the Tasso hollandaise was savory and tangy. One of my eggs was hard-boiled but the dish is something I'll definitely come back for. My sister loved the Chicken and Waffles, she said it was some of the best fried chicken she's had, crispy on the outside and so juicy on the inside. My brother liked the Grillades & Grits but thought that the dish needed more flavor, more butter and cheese in the grits and salt overall. We really enjoyed our meal here and left happy and very full. I highly recommend checking this place out for their unique, Southern take on brunch. It's such a nice addition to the American- style breakfast classics in Wichita.

Had the southern BLT and gumbo and they were scrumptious! Service is great too. I've never had bad food there.

Some of the best ribs I have ever had. Sadly I don't see them on the menu anymore. Look forward to trying something new next time I go.

I have been to Magnolia a number of times. Most of their menu is okay. The gumbo is OUTSTANDING. Now that's what I order.

The first time we dined here, we were seated on the patio and it had so much potential, but the stench from the nearby backyards (dog business) was overwhelming. The second visit was just fine, but this last visit was mostly bad all around. First, we were seated right away, but it took quite a while for a server to make their way to our table. It was really busy, so that is understandable, and the servers were all very friendly. It is not a quiet place by any means and our table was directly between the side door to the patio (smelly and hot every time the door was opened) and the kitchen which was abuzz with activity and really noisy. There was live music on the patio but that was out of earshot. We were served water and those glasses were kept full (thankfully because my son in law was dehydrated from attending the Wichita Open all day). Despite us taking a while to look over the drink menu, our drink order was never taken. We ordered a starter and got dill pickle bombs. They were fine. Standard bar food that we finished fairly quickly. We waited for 15 minutes for someone to return to take our entree order and quickly requested a couple things from the "specials" menu and a couple from the standard menu. We didn't mention drinks because we were eager to get the food order in, and after she left the table we said, "oh shoot. We didn't order drinks. Oh well she will be back." We didn't ever see our primary waitress again. People came by to fill water and to drop off our entrees. Then someone came to ask if we needed anything else and by then, we decided to stick with water. The first entree was salmon and chips. Looking back, the description might not have been investigated fully, because my husband was surprised that the salmon arrived breaded as you would expect cod or haddock to be in a fish n chips combo. It was not very appealing, but the fries were good. The server had asked if he preferred ranch or ketchup with fries and he replied ketchup but proceeded to receive neither. The second entree was a 6oz steak from the specials menu served with potatoes and a choice of vegetables. I requested green beans and both the sides were decent but did not knock my socks off. I ordered my steak medium rare and that is what I received. The flavor was good, but I can say without hesitation, it was the worst cut of meat I have ever been served. The steak came sliced and layered on top of the potatoes (probably to make it look more substantial since it was a smaller portion.) I had to ask for a steak knife because the table knife could not cut through any part of those slices. I got the steak knife, powered through some tendons and tried like mad to consume a small bit. I could not chew this steak. Until that day, I don't think I have ever spit out food in a restaurant, but I did not have a choice. It was either spit it out or swallow it whole. My son in law ordered a Cobb salad and said it was great! Score! Nothing terrible or out of the ordinary to report. Lastly, my daughter's meal might have been the most strange. Her entree was from the special menu and was described as a Shrimp Scampi Fettucine with garlic in a white wine butter sauce. At first bite, she immediately said, "Wow. That's really lemony." She kept eating (because thankfully she likes lemons) and gave her husband a bite. He physically retracted and said, "dang. That's a lot of lemon." She then asked me to try a noodle and gave both my husband and myself a fettuccine noodle. It tasted like the noodles had been boiled in lemon juice. The odd thing is that lemon was not mentioned in the description and the dish, upon further inspection, actually had lemon rind mixed in. There was no white wine butter sauce to speak of... just onion, garlic, and lemon with shrimp. It wasn't terrible. But that's definitely not in line with the description, and really not what she was expecting. A member of the wait staff stopped by and asked if she could bring us a sweets menu. At no time did anyone inquire about the meal. We said no to the sweets and asked for the check. My final assessment was that Sheets Creek is a nice place for friends to meet up and have drinks. They have live music and a nice atmosphere if you aren't looking for a quiet place to relax. The prices were not outrageous and had they been more, I might have complained. There were too many things to mention to staff and I would have come off as petty. Life is too short. Sheets Creek seems to be trying too hard to be unique and for me is missing the mark.

From their facebook and the article I got the vibe it was a Cocktail Lounge/Bar with live music etc. We came on a Friday night, there was a good amount of people in the bar. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits enjoying their drinks. We sat at the bar and the bartender Julian helped us. He was very friendly and approachable. I order the Suga Suga How You Get So Fly (it is an espresso martini with a cinnamon rim and a brown sugar syrup) my husband got the Mr. M Berry. Unfortunately I did not like my drink, I drank my husband's drink. His drink was good. Mine tasted very syrupy and artificial in flavor. We decided to stay for one more drink to leave on a good note. I ordered a Tequila Old Fashion (not on the menu) and my husband got Moxie's 4x4. These were a lot better than our first drink. For my old fashion it was very thick and syrupy, but I let the ice melt for a while and it was a better texture. I plan on coming back with some girlfriends and maybe trying some new drinks. As well I think I would like when they have live music more. They were playing really loud club music. Rap and R&B. Don't get me wrong I like that music. But not at a Cocktail Lounge Bar. I was hoping for something a little more relaxing and sensual. Dimmer lights and music to match that vibe. I know it's new so maybe they are still trying to adjust the overall aesthetic. Overall it was a 4/5 maybe a 3.5/5. I will give a more updated review my second time around with the live music and other drinks. Bartender and service: 5/5 Prices are reasonable. Bar is clean and well kept. Menu: 1/5. They are hard to read and flip pages.
