I was expected creme brulee in between the French toast and it looked like regular French toast. It was nothing to write home about. I'll start with my favorites of the meal...the pretty as a peach cocktail, voodoo pasta with shrimp, the rolls with pecan butter and the live music...all so good! Our table also ordered another cocktail?, the pecan crusted trout special, watermelon salad, oysters Rockefeller and the beignets. I sampled all of the items mentioned above, but definitely liked my cocktail and the pasta the most. Husband said he enjoyed the trout and the beignets. Our little one got the watermelon salad and ate some of the trout and potatoes as well. My main critiques are the oysters didn't seem as fresh as they could be and also my voodoo pasta had no andouille sausage, despite it being listed as part of the dish on the menu. Came here for Mothers Day brunch. We asked to sit on the patio and we were sat promptly as soon as they opened. Our server said she would get us water and told us to go jump in the buffet line. I left my eye glasses on the table. We returned and our table was moved and given to someone else who was originally sat inside. Our server said my manager said to give your table to this other party and then sat us inside. The manager never asked us and just took my glasses off the table. This was the most rudest thing I've ever experienced. They sat us at the dirty table where the other party was at inside. Another weekend, another restaurant! To start, I would like to acknowledge just how amazing the service was. We enjoyed the dining service here immensely. We started off the meal with fried green tomatoes and boy did we love it! Definitely worth a try if you've never had fried green tomatoes or have grown up with fried green tomatoes, they will not disappoint. On a side note, they reminded me of crab cakes and I think that had to do with the sauce.. As for the meal, we tried 3 different plates; JW's Chicken Hash, pork belly hash, and eggs Pontchartrain. If you love hash browns, you'll definitely enjoy the chicken hash. My food connoisseur and I felt that the salt was a little overpowering in this dish, but I enjoyed the flavor within the dish. I wish it had more chicken though. If you're a fan of pork belly, you will LOVE the pork belly hash. You could taste the flavor of all the different veggies and it blended together perfectly. Although, the greens did add a hint of bitterness to the dish. And lastly, the eggs Pontchartrain! It came with 3 pieces of fried oyster (those were tasty). We had such a delicious birthday breakfast celebration at Magnolia Cafe Wichita. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles, crab cakes Benedict, and chicken hash. Not a thing on the menu disappointed. It's newer, very clean, great staff, food came out quickly. What more could you ask for. A lot of places say they are from scratch, this place very obviously stands by that. Not only are they from scratch their menu has a fancy southern flare. Checked out this new Southern-inspired brunch place on a Saturday around 9am. It wasn't busy and we were seated immediately. The place was warm and welcoming, you tell that they've put a lot of thought into decor. I ordered an iced coffee with cream and simple syrup to start and was pleasantly surprised to find a staff member using a cocktail shaker to mix it. It was a delicious start to an even more delicious meal. We ordered the Bananas Foster Pan Perdu for the table, I ordered Eggs Pontchartrain, my sister ordered the Chicken & Waffles and my brother ordered the Grillades & Grits. The Pan Perdu was delicious but more French Toast than Pan Perdu. The Eggs Ponchartrain were amazing. There were about 6 fried oysters on my plate and the Tasso hollandaise was savory and tangy. One of my eggs was hard-boiled but the dish is something I'll definitely come back for. My sister loved the Chicken and Waffles, she said it was some of the best fried chicken she's had, crispy on the outside and so juicy on the inside. My brother liked the Grillades & Grits but thought that the dish needed more flavor, more butter and cheese in the grits and salt overall. We really enjoyed our meal here and left happy and very full. I highly recommend checking this place out for their unique, Southern take on brunch. The staff at Napoli let us know about Magnolia Cafe and we thought we'd give it a try for a family brunch. The presentation of everything was very nice...and the service was good. We ordered the cornbread and fried green tomatoes to share...the cornbread was delish...sweet and buttery. The tomatoes were more breading than tomato, but the flavor was very good. I'd try them again, but I'd recommend that they cut those tomatoes thicker moving forward. My daughter had the Bananas Foster French Toast and loved it. She let me try it and it was totally decadent. They were considerate of her nut allergy and kept the pecans off. My husband and I both had the Shrimp and Grits...the shrimp were big and plentiful, nicely cooked, but you do need to like cheesy grits. I also loved that there was andouille sausage in the grits, which gave the flavor a nice pop. Our friend ordered the Eggs Pontchatrain and really enjoyed it. The portion sizes were generous and prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back...there are tons of things on the menu to try if you enjoy New Orleans style brunch. read more

We brought our daughter in on Friday 9/13 for her 40th birthday luncheon, having been to Magnolia several times but no lately. We found the food sub-par appearing to be leftovers partially heated up and not plated very well. While the waitress was very nice and attentive, the serving staff was very intrusive on conversation that was not needed or wanted. It started as soon as we walked in the door. No warm greeting as we entered, just "how many and follow me." Handed us our menus and walked away. The server (I believe her name was Katherine) was very sweet, but was very absent. We had to ask other servers for more water, honey and ketchup. When she did come around it was when the other servers had already brought us our items. Overall, the food was tasty, but the service took away from the experience. I went on a Sunday at 11am with a friend for brunch. It was busy, but that was expected. It was a 45 min wait for a table for 2. The hostess was nice enough to take my number and gave us a call when they were ready. She was very friendly and helpful. We were seated and our waitress took our drink orders, we ordered the Debutante, which was a spiked black cherry lemonade. The waitress was knowledgeable about the menu, answered our questions and was very pleasant. I ordered the days special which was crab cake benedict ( red pepper hollandaise) with a side of potatoes. My friend got the chicken and waffles. We tried the deviled eggs and the jalapeno crab hushpuppies. The eggs are really good, The hushpuppies were over cooked, like hard and dark and not quite sure if there is actually jalapeno in them. About 3 min after appetizers arrived, our food came out. We still didn't get our drinks, we were already eating our entrée by the time they made it. I question the lemonade and cherry part of the drink (like where are the flavors?). There was one cherry, and no cherry flavor it was garnished by a lemon wedge, which saved the drink once I squeezed it in. The plates were beautiful! The chicken was golden brown, the waffles were fluffy and had melting butter on them. My friend really liked the chicken and waffles. He really loved the syrup and the chicken was crunchy and golden. Although the crab benedict made a pretty plate it was not great. My poached eggs were hard, like boiled egg hard and without the yummy running of the egg into the hollandaise it was all just dry. It broke my benedict loving heart. If you are going to so badly over cook the egg then put more sauce. The crab cake was good, but the potatoes were the star on the plate, so so good. That makes me sad, because the fact that a mere potato stole the show from a crab benedict is a travesty. All together we spent 80 on a brunch for 2 that was just ok. read more

I had the shrimp and grits.. texture was great as well as the quantity but in my opinion the favor was lacking. My husband had the Eggs Pontchartrain and said the fried oysters were too fishy for him.. mind you we love seafood and he's a huge oyster fan.. overall the muffin could have been toasted longer for a nice crispness vs becoming soggy. I found the flavor of the fried oysters didn't sit that well with the sweeter sauce they seem to serve on most dishes. Definitely not my favorite and I'm not likely to order it again. My wife enjoyed her country boy Benedict. Ordinarily I do t like my fried green tomatoes "fancied up", but this worked for me. They had the right amount of sweetness to offset the flavor of the soft goat cheese. I only wish they served them in an equal number, either 4 or 6. We visited at about 1pm on a Sunday and were able to be immediately seated since we chose outdoor seating. The music was low key, the wait staff were friendly, and the vibes were chill. Our food arrived pretty quickly as well which is always a plus at busy breakfast/brunch spot. Loved what the menu had to offer! We ordered a basket of biscuits and strawberry-rhubarb jam, the cavatappi gouda mac and cheese, and the eggs benedict with potatoes. Everything was awesome!
