But when I tell her about this place, I'm guessing she might not care as much. I've been wanting to try it for a while. Today I rolled the dice. And I'd say my experience was decidedly mixed. Basically, the samosa was excellent. Knowing her she'd love that. The Gobi Manchurian, one of my favorite dishes, was decent but I've had better flavors elsewhere. But I'm not complaining about it. Knowing her, she'd say it was OK at best. The Chicken 65, another of my favorites, is something I'm complaining about. The flavor was just way off. All I could taste was hot spice and lemon, and nothing else. Knowing her, she'd want to throw it out. I ordered it mild, but a lot of places where I do that it doesn't affect the other flavors. Maybe it does here. I will say they had a pretty decent mango lassi. So a couple things kept me from making this review worse. I'd come back here if I craved a good samosa and lassi as a snack. It's hard for me to try anything else past that now.

The Biriyani was well spiced but a little salty, nevertheless it was tasty. I've gotten it in medium spice before and I'd suggest getting it so, if you're someone who can handle spice- the flavor are stronger and it's more tastier when it's more spicy. The Chicken Lollipop was good and it came with a green sauce which complimented the Lollipops. Finally the Mango Lassi was chilled and sweet- not overly sweet, which is perfect. The service was adequate and so was the atmosphere.

To start, I was told by staff that my small catering order for my niece's 21 birthday celebration will be fine. After 3 attempts of no return call - I got the direct name and number to contact, I called getting a response he was very busy but to send my vendor form. After sending Naveen my form, and again calling to get status, I was given the run around and questioned on what I was getting and that I needed to provide my event details which was also done. Naveen continued to be irresponsible, untruthful with me as well as my event coordinator - he lied to both of us with different stories to each of - faulting me with my coordinator and telling me he can do what I wanted but had other "reasons" without ever saying he cannot do it. I have to point blank tell him - can you say that you cannot provide this due to insurance requirements and/or my small request for a large event where you are not the main caterer. He was wasting my time, very rude, unreliable, and a huge disappointment. Leaves a very bad taste where people like this in a service oriented business do very little to provide service. More so - you are no business man because you have no ethics to simply say that it is against your policy or you cannot provide the service - rather you are a cheat, coward and liar who wastes peoples time and breaks trust/faith for people who try to use life and business norms to organize events or purchase services. Final words for anyone looking to cater an event or eat at this restaurant - wonder what is the real story???? I would give 0 stars but I have to pick one - really??? RS

Plus hearing some people say the food had become inconsistent made me hesitate. But reading up on it today and learning about the new owner, it was time to see if they could win me back. They have. Compared to what I used to get here on the buffet, the tandoori chicken now seems to have more flavor. More of it is definitely hotter spice, but I did notice a fruity tang as well. I'm not complaining. I used to eat the tandoori chicken here regularly and I consider this upgraded. The vegetable pakora stood out. That dish definitely improved. It had a great crispiness and robust seasoning without being too overpowering. That got a second helping. I used to eat the pakora here all the time and I'd pick this over what I used to get. The paneer makhani tasted more like a korma sauce to me. It was more cream-based than tomato. I'm good with that because I love korma. You may judge accordingly. The chicken tikka masala was a little more basic to me. But it's a basic dish in general. Nothing really wrong with it, but it wouldn't be memorable to experienced Indian food lovers. The mango lassi used to be a little thin and more sweet than fruity. Now it's thicker and more of a mango taste. Upgrade. I also used to love the kheer here. Somehow I think I love it more now. Another upgrade. My taste for Indian has evolved over the years. I've just eaten it a lot and I've tried a lot more local places. There are places that are serving more authentic food out there. This is still slightly tailored to more novice eaters I believe. It always was in my mind. But that's not a bad thing. They're back in my Indian rotation.

Peanut and Tree-nut Allergy Safe…read more Food was delicious and fresh. Everything we ordered was hot coming out, and tasted great. Waiter was friendly, helpful and it did not take long to get our food. I have a lethal Peanut and tree-nut allergy and had no issues eating here or communicating with the staff. At the time I came the only thing that has nuts is the deserts, so I was able to pick from the whole menu when it came to food and not worry about entree cross contamination which was a delightful surprise. This includes their vegetarian options which were also nut free. I am excited to go back and try more of their menu.

I'm providing this honest review as a constructive feedback for improvement…read more We came across this place online but were only able to try it recently...I was honestly disappointed by many things: First, when a place advertises shawarma meat and posts videos of the famous Lebanese shawarma revolving cone that grills the marinated meat as the cone turns, you would expect that the shawarma plate you order is an authentic shawarma meat cut off the shawarma cone...unfortunately, this was not the case at cafe baladi. I respect the owner who's advertising authentic homemade Lebanese food but the shawarma meat we got was not an authentic shawarma meat...this was meat that was cooked either in a pan or in the oven and was not tender because it was not probably marinated and it's not grilled on the shawarma cone. Placed that have the famous shawarma cone you can usually see in the restaurant either behind the counter or through a window in the back - this was not the case. Second the plate included the choice of hummus or baba ghannouj and tabbouleh...we picked baba ghannouj and we got the tabbouleh...again, the baba ghannouj did not taste at all authentic nor homemade...it tasted like the baba ghannouj in a conserved can that you find in grocery stores. Authentic baba ghannouj is made from grilled eggplant tahini lemon juice and salt. Third, the Lebanese tabboule is made from finely chopped vegetables (parsley, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice, and burgul). Unfortunately again this tabbouleh was not finely chopped and it lacked the burgul. We were really disappointed. The only positive thing was that the service was quick.
