Love the concept of having a healthier fast food option! I got the Bliss Bowl with Kale, cauliflower, chicken and brussel sprouts. I tried the Sesame Ginger & Cilantro Lime dressings. The chicken looked really white and like diseased (I'm picky with chicken). I quickly put the sauces in and it tasted good. Not sure if it was supposed to hot or cold but it was definitely cold. Not sure it's fair business practice for this place to have the word "fresh" in its name. All the veggies were roasted or cooked, which is fine for a Thanksgiving dinner, but not a fresh poke bowl. There were none of the traditional toppings you get on a poke bowl--no edamame, seaweed salad, carrots, cucumber (there was a tomato and cucumber pickled salad, but you had to pay extra for that). No fresh fruit--mango, pineapple, mandarin oranges. No fish roe, cilantro, furikake. They were also out of tuna which to me is the essence of a poke bowl. I ended up getting steak and shrimp which were both dry and overcooked. Pretty disappointing :( read more

Good food with quality ingredients and vegan options!. I really appreciate that their menu is crystal clear about what's vegan and/or gluten-free. Disappointing experience. First of all, none of that food is fresh so that's a scam. Second, I got my food and it was COLD. I asked to warm it up, they gave me another bowl and it was COLD AGAIN. To top it all off, the food wasn't good or fresh it was dry. read more

I was really grateful to find a restaurant with so many vegetarian and gluten-free options when I visited Idaho Falls on my way to the Craters of the Moon National Monument! It was awesome that everything was labeled incredibly clearly, and the staff was both knowledgeable about the ingredients in their food but also incredibly patient, kind, and accommodating of my dietary restrictions. Their app and website are also incredibly informative and have full lists of the ingredients and nutritional information for each menu item. Although Mahana Fresh was undeniably accessible and accommodating, the food itself was...alright. It was certainly refreshing to have some fresh vegetables and a vegetarian option that actually contained protein in it after a long road trip filled with...none of those things, but I don't think I could see myself wanting to frequent this spot if I actually lived in town. The honey sriracha brussels sprouts were tasty and delightfully spicy, but a bit too sweet for my taste (which, of course, I should have guessed from the word "honey" in the name). The sesame ginger broccoli was solid, and the bites of garlicky cilantro green beans that I stole from my dad's plate were also quite delicious. My mom's roasted sweet potatoes were, unfortunately, overcooked and way too salty, yet simultaneously lacking in flavor. Also, while I understand that Mahana Fresh is a fast-casual restaurant, many of the vegetables and proteins were all kept over the hot plate of death for what seemed like many hours, so nothing really felt "fresh." I did really enjoy the sesame garlic tofu, though, although I would have preferred to have the protein warmed (it was served cold, which was odd, considering that all of the other proteins, aside from the poke, were kept warm...although, in hindsight, considering how the vegetables fared over the hot plate, perhaps having cold tofu was a blessing in disguise). The citrus ginger was solid -- it was basically like the carrot ginger dressing traditionally served at Japanese restaurants with a stronger orange flavor. My father wasn't the world's biggest fan of the creamy wasabi, though, and had a few stomach issues a few hours after our meal here. Overall, if you're on a pan-America road trip and happen to be crossing through Idaho Falls, chances are that you've been a bit deprived of vegetables and good, clean, healthy food for at least a few days. I would definitely recommend dropping by Mahana Fresh to give your body a break from the fast food or random grocery store items, but it's by no means a must-try. Also definitely recommend giving Mahana Fresh a try if you have a lot of dietary restrictions and have been struggling to find restaurants in the area that are able to accommodate you! read more

Spinach was fine, but meal was cold and barely edible. Mahana 2 included basmati rice, roaster Mushrooms, broccoli and Seared Ahi Tuna. The tuna was over cooked where it should have been barely seared. The sauce coating the tuna was awful. This was completely inedible. We will not be ordering here again. read more

Honestly this place was not what I expected. I'll admit that it was different than the typical fast food on the road, but the food was marketed to be fresh and it just wasn't that. They had pots full of fresh vegetables to make for quick service, but this meant that the vegetables tasted overdone and had a weird flavor to them. I tried the teriyaki bowl and wasn't impressed. Great place. Portions are good for the Mahana. They are a little small for the little Mahana. When I went in I didn't know what to expect. Eating now. I can tell that the focus on Mahana fresh is new age gluten free healthy meal. On to the food: Wife got coconut rice, which was surprisingly good. And sweet potato and teriyaki chicken with more teriyaki sauce at the end. The teriyaki chicken was a little salty but if you eat everything together it's pretty good. Does taste like "healthy" food if it's eaten separately instead of altogether. I got the Kale crunch salad with buffalo cauliflower and garlic green beans. My protein was key lime chicken and the sauce was a cilantro vinaigrette. I will copy what my wife said about eating them separate. The buffalo was kind of bland. The kale salad was good. And the green beans were my favorite. The chicken was dry but with the addition of the vinaigrette they were quite nice. It was good, however after a little all the food started to get quite oily. Broccoli- cold, seemed like they were old barely any seasoning Coconut rice-I think they forgot the coconut, no seasoning so it was just bland mush Green beans- they were good, but like the broccoli some of it seemed like it was old, barely warm. Ahi tuna- maybe I'm just picky with tuna but this was not it. It seemed like very bad cuts and was chewy.
