I chose this place because of the entertainment book coupon. The guy said he wasn't the owner when the coupon was made, so the coupon isn't valid. Does that matter? You'd rather have no sales than at least have some money and honor a coupon? The next room was full of people and someone on stage. I asked if there was a wedding reception, and he abruptly said, "No, it's a singer." The guy also made it a point to say, "Well at least I let you know before you placed the order." Well whoop-dee-doo. We walked out. Now I know to call future businesses in advance, even though I've never had an issue before. I won't be back!

BEST Indian restaurant in Houston! Their lunch buffet is absolutely amazing and is loaded with all of the staples! Their Saag Paneer is the closest to homecooked I have ever had. They also have amazing Naan and Tandoori Chicken (baked in a true Tandoori oven). The staff is super friendly and welcoming! You can tell Mohammad really cares about the restaurant and his food. I have been a frequent patron for 20 years and here to 20 more to come!

This was my first time visiting this fine establishment. I tried their reasonably priced lunch buffet this afternoon . I've never eaten at a sole Indian restaurant. I must say the food was absolutely delish. The fried onions, chicken curry, and butter chicken were excellent . The cheese spinach was a bit cold, although it was still tasty. I sampled everything except for the goat.. The vegetable roll was my favorite. The vegetable roll was similar to a Chinese egg roll, with a dash of Indian spice.. Literally ... They brought flat bread and grilled chicken out to the table as part of the buffet which was also excellent.. Sorry I don't know the authentic names of these dishes. Maybe I'll learn the proper food names one day, being that I will be back for more in the not so distant future.

Maharajah restaurant is a well known restaurant. We have tried the lunch buffet and also the catering.. in both instances the food were really good. The customer service is great too. Thanks to the management and the staffs for providing great food experience.

    Delicious!

Food is great! Try their butter chicken and I'd recommend ordering plates instead of the buffet.

The crowd kept coming, and by the time we were done, the line appears to have grown to 1+ hour. Tip: Come early, especially on weekends! There was a sign saying that dining time is limited to 1 hour - completely understandable. Most of the clientele are South Asian - a good sign. The interior is clean and pleasant. The weekend buffet doesn't come cheap. We paid around $27 per person before tax or tips. But you get what you pay for - probably around 40 items, more than any other Indian buffet we have been to. This includes vegetarian items, meat dishes (chicken/lamb/fish), dessert, and drinks - including chai tea and rose milk. The quality is very good. We left absolutely stuffed.

The spread includes a good variety of South Indian dishes, mainly Tamil and Telugu cuisine, with plenty of vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries, rice, dosas, and other traditional favorites. The food was definitely on the spicier side. While there was a decent selection, I found the overall taste to be fairly average. Nothing was particularly memorable, and I didn't feel it justified the price. The restaurant itself was clean, the ambience was pleasant, and the staff was courteous. The biggest downside for me was being handed the bill while we were still eating. At an unlimited buffet where you're paying a fixed price, it made the experience feel rushed and took away from the relaxed dining atmosphere. Overall, it's an okay spot if you're specifically looking for an unlimited South Indian buffet, but for $25 per person, I expected a more memorable meal and a better dining experience.

Granted a group of 12 people showed up unannounced right around opening time, the service was still a bit on the slower side. We waited about 30-35 minutes to receive our samosas and another 15 minutes to receive our Thali plates. All twelve of us ordered the same thing--the Regular Thali. The Thali is a platter that comes with 3 different curries or stews, 3 types of breads, rice, dessert, and a samosa. While I am not very knowledgeable about Indian cuisine and have no basis of comparison, the three curries and breads were delicious. Of the three curries, the paneer masala was my favorite and I enjoyed all three breads. The vegetable curry and lentil stew were both equally delicious and offered a change of pace from the paneer masala. The samosa was a bit of a miss for me due to the shell being a bit on the thick side, but the spices and tamarind chutney were good, but not outstanding. The benefit of ordering the Thali is that it is an affordable way to sample a very good variety of foods with the option or order more of whatever included curry, bread, samosa, rice, dessert completely free as a part of the Thali set. Would I go back? Yes, I would go back to have the Thali again but I'm unsure if I would be adventurous enough to order a full portion of a single curry or dish simply out of unfamiliarity with Indian cuisine. However, I would avoid Gayatri Bhavan if my boss isn't taking an extended lunch break with us.

Filter coffee was good, not too sweet. Service; the one man working (we came at an odd hour between lunch and dinner) was helpful and friendly. Our food came out on time. The restaurant itself was clean and well kept. Will return for the buffet one weekend.
