I love me some Indian food so I had to come to this place for a second time. Both meals were super tender, flavorful and portioned very generously. You can taste the different spices and love that goes into a good meal. The restaurant is colorful, clean and well maintained. The prices are fair compared to how much food you actually get. The dishes can certainly be shared to try multiple things on the menu with whoever you're with. This would've been an easy 5 star for me if the service was more attentive. It wasn't until we were getting ready to leave when they came around to see if we needed anything, not so much before that.

I really wanted to like this place, I really did. I was so excited to come but was disappointed. I'm no stranger to Indian food but I'm also no expert. I've been to many Indian restaurants in the past but I've never been to an Indian restaurant that was so overly salted and overpowering. For starters, I came for the lunch buffet on a Sunday. There was no wait, but the restaurant was a bit more than half full. We were seated right away but as soon as we were seated, we were essentially moved because there was a couple already sitting there. The staff just didn't communicate that to each other. It happens, miscommunication is normal, but definitely didn't help my first impressions. The buffet did offer a variety of options which is great. However most things were really salty. Some options were decent on the first bite any bites after that were gross. The jeera aloo was inedible from the first bite. The goat curry was good the first bite but you get hit with the incredible saltiness, even with naan and rice. This was the theme with the majority of the curry's actually. The veggie patty was dry, stale, and inedible. The only good items were the naan, tandoori chicken, and the chicken tikka masala. The chickens were surprisingly not dry though, despite some of the other reviews. The items on the cold bar were room temperature too. I'm not sure if there wasn't ice on the bottom but it definitely wasn't cold. I'm sure food is 100% better if you order a la carte but yeah just not a great experience today.

We came in for a lunch buffet and like always, I was excited to try a new Indian restaurant. The buffet had quite a bit of food to choose from, I got a little bit of mostly everything. We ordered a mango lassi that was very good. The butter naan they brought to the table was flaky and crispy the way I love, however it had no salt and didn't have a taste. Most of the meat was dry and overcooked, the flavors were ok, but nothing great. None of us were fans of this place and won't be back.

Stingy rice portion. Didn't even fill the container

When I first started going to Tandoori Garden years ago it was some of the best Indian food I ever had. As the years went by, I noticed the taste and quality declining. It's unfortunate, but I don't think I'll be going back again. I ordered a few dishes and none of them were good. They ranged from mid to downright terrible and I was embarrassed by the idea of sharing them with company. First of all, they asked how spicy for each dish, and I ordered mild to medium on each, but they all had the same level of spice, which was too spicy for children. Why ask and then ignore what was requested? If they can't or won't change the level of spice, don't ask. The biryani was some of the worst I ever ate. It was so salty, even dumping on raita on it didn't help. It tasted like they added shan masala and 4 cups of salt to the rice. I'm surprised I didn't go into hypertensive shock eating it. One serving was enough and although I hate to waste food, it was basically inedible and belonged in the trash. The tandoori chicken was bone dry and I was eating a thigh. I shudder to think what the breast was like. The korma was not terrible, but didn't taste like korma and was overly salted. The dal tadka was bland. It had no taste. In addition, they were stingy with the rice. Each entrée was large enough for 2 people to share, but there was only about 1 serving of rice per dish. I thought I would have to make more rice at home, but turns out no one wanted more or to finish any of the dishes. Things are too expensive these days to be wasting it on food that ranges from not great to terrible. Maybe they had a bad day, but it's not a risk I'm willing to take. What a disappointment.

Ten second summary: -Not worth a destination trip, but if you are around the area, it's worth a try. -Butter chicken is below par, but the saag paneer and naan is fantastic. One of the best naan in the area. -Service from our waitress, Mahi, was spectacular. She was very polite and came by often to check on us. The saag paneer was flavorful and had a plentiful amount of paneer, but sadly, the butter chicken lacked flavor and was a bit watered down. In a way, it kind of balances the score. The naan was amazing. It comes out freshly made so it's hot, crispy, and lightly buttered. There is no wow factor to make this a destination Indian buffet, but if you are around the area, it's not a bad option.

Baingan Bharta. Really good. The medium is better than the mild. The hot is fantastic, but it really is HOT.

VEGETARIAN REVIEW: Like most Indian places, this restaurant has many vegetarian options. Yay! This is s cute little restaurant in Katy with some seriously delicious Indian food. I was here with my daughter a few weeks ago, and I intended to try the buffet, but we ended up ordering baingan bharta and malai kofta. Those are my two favorite dishes from Tandoori Grill, and since neither were on the buffet, we decided to order those and skip the buffet. Because my little girl was with me, I ordered mild. I think that works for someone who doesn't like spicy food, but I prefer their medium or hot. I ordered hot baingan bharta once, and it was great if you like spicy foods. Unfortunately, I was the only one in my group who was able to eat it. So - even if you like spicy foods, be aware that at this restaurant - hot means hot! Our server was very nice, and brought me some red sauce to spice things up. That was nice, but it didn't make much difference. Next time we go, I intend to try the buffet. Cute place. Nice people. Great food. Highly recommend!

The saag chicken was so full of flavor. Was really tasty. I got a medium heat which was perfect. The chicken was in big chunks, so I cut them up to make it go a little further. The rice was good, not over or under cooked. Naan bread was also good. Also got chicken masala which was also full of flavor. Definitely recommended place to go!

I was pleasantly satisfied with the food and service at Tandoori Grill. Everything was delicious and flavorful. I have always been a little stingy about sharing my rice so I'm not a fan when establishments combine the rice serving, but they do not charge for extra rice which is such a relief because there is such a healthy serving of curry! Again, great portions, delicious food and great service. Would recommend

The meal, butter chicken, rice, naan, and a coke

Food is always good here. The service is very good to excellent. The best way to come here is lunch as it is very expensive outside the lunch hours. They also charge for naan outside the lunch hour, one order comes with the lunch buffet. Meal total was 27.96 after tax and gratuity $34.81. The restaurant is clean but appears to be of a time gone by. Booths tables and chairs are nostalgic.

I had such a craving for Indian food and I decided to stop by after rummaging through Ross dress for less at katy mills. I was STARVING and excited. The young man who serviced me was very friendly and welcoming. I tried their fresh lemonade that comes with mint and it was so refreshing. Their vegetable samosas were AMAZING. I also ordered their chicken tikka Masala on level 3 spice... ALSO AMAZING. If you have a craving for Indian food then you have to try this location because you can't go wrong. The flavors were bold and piercing in such a good way. Even when it came down to their lemonade. 100% recommend for take out or sit in. The service was awesome!

I came to kansar Gujarati thali over the weekend. These dishes are only offered over the weekend. It was extremely spicy. I ended up getting blisters inside my mouth. Bring tums! The food is flavorful but spice was bit much. They were friendly. Come on an empty stomach. Kinjal the chef also does catering!

The downside is knowing the limitations that come with affordably priced buffets and quality of food. The official entrance is from the parking lot between Vinh Hoa (#2) and the massage. Plenty of folks will also enter from the back, which is through the Dynasty Plaza mall and takes a bit longer. It then becomes a question of stairs (parking lot) versus an escalator (mall). At $18-24 (lunch to holiday pricing), the prices aren't too steep for AYCE food. Kids 3 and under eat free but are otherwise subject to $13-14 per person. Non-water drinks are $2.39 a person, so definitely get as many refills as possible. The place is as massive on the inside as it looks on the outside. Window side seating offers an elevated view of Chinatown, but don't focus too much on the excessive finger prints along the windows. The seating is so abundant that almost any size group should have zero problem finding space. There is also a large private room that is ideal for special functions, equipped with TVs and a sound system. Food wise, it's a hodgepodge of all food types. Here's a breakdown in the stations: Mongolian Grill / Noodle Soup: This is a combo station where one can customize their stir fry. I had decent results with lo mein, an egg, some vegetables with beef slices. The person cooking drizzled sesame oil, soy sauce seasoning, and water and each time it took around 3-5 minutes. The noodle soups are a bit more standard but the options here are the noodle options are wonton noodle, beef noodle, seafood noodle, and beef pho. I wouldn't recommend ordering the latter. Fruits & Salads / Cold Dishes / Seafood: A standard selection of cold fruit salads, which is unsurprisingly the least exciting part of the buffet. I'm impressed with the variety of the sushi on the seafood end, but the presentation and fish quality is extremely mediocre. It won't deter most folks, since most people perceive value by loading up on the rolls. When in doubt, shoot for the sashimi. Entrees: With the exception of the eyesore dim sum and standard fried food selection, there is a solid selection of hot food. The weekend offerings is probably the best they'll have, but some standouts here included the thin ribeye slices, a solid mapo tofu with a kick, well seasoned clams, fish slices, pork spare ribs, a very solid steamed fish, and several varieties of fried noodle. Folks might enjoy the Chinese-American selection, which should have all the classics (sesame chicken, beef with broccoli, marinated chicken wings, etc.) and then some. Serviced as a decent job of clearing tables, offering water refills, cleaning the food counters, and replenishing empty trays. I appreciate some small touches, such as their multicolored plates for different selections, bathrooms, and well marked labels. Buffet lovers who are in it for the thrill of copious portions will likely enjoy what's available here. __________ (#1) Aside from one's waistline. (#2) https://www.yelp.com/biz/vinh-hoa-houston

The owner and Nathan were amazing! Inside is really cute and and great for bigger groups.

The meat was fresh and perfectly cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and deeply satisfying. The side dishes were thoughtfully done as well, light and refreshing. I really appreciated the atmosphere here--relaxed, unpretentious, and just right for a long conversation or even a quiet meal on your own. Service was easygoing and attentive in a very natural way--present when needed, never intrusive. Overall, it's the kind of place I'd happily return to--not just for the food, but for how comfortable it makes you feel.

The first red flag was arriving to find the banchan and salad already sitting on the table. Everything was warm, which made it seem like it had been sitting out for a while rather than being freshly served. After placing our order, only part of the meal arrived. We eventually had to ask about the missing soup and japchae. When the soup finally came out, it was cold. We later learned the wrong bowl had been brought out. Once the correct soup arrived, it was piping hot, packed with flavor, and had just the right amount of spice, easily one of the highlights of the meal. My husband was especially disappointed to learn that the beef belly, the dish he specifically came for, was completely sold out...on a Friday night. The fried shrimp also came out cold, and the popcorn chicken was underwhelming. Thankfully, not everything missed the mark. The beef bulgogi and kalbi were both flavorful and satisfying, and the pork cheek was served in generous, meaty portions that were perfect for sharing. Overall, the meal felt inconsistent. There were a few standout dishes, but between the service delays, missing items, and several dishes arriving cold, the experience didn't live up to the memories I had of dining here years ago. Would I come back? Probably not. Houston has too many great Korean BBQ options to overlook this many service and quality issues. While a few dishes were enjoyable, the overall experience simply wasn't worth the visit.
