Ask the Community - The Deuce Lounge & Casino

Still open? Are the hours correct on here?

Yes. We are only open two days a week at 4pm. We only have the bar at this time. No restaurant or gaming until we rebuild in a few years.

Is the casino opening this Friday?

Unfortunately, no. We should be open by October 2023. Yelp is automatically setting it to reopen on 7/15 and I can’t mark it temporarily closed again until they do.…

We love the Rosa's in Bakersfield, so we took it as a sign this restaurant would be just as good. Come to find out, the owners are related and they all thought it would be a good idea to name their restaurants after their grandmother, Rosa. They are also related to the Rosa's in Pismo. Luigi is the owner in Visalia and he takes great pride in his Rosa's. We came on a night where some things were not working as expected; however, Luigi was all over taking care of everything. He was honest about what was going on. As a diner, that allows me to have more grace than if I were sitting there trying to figure out what was happening. There is nothing that should keep you from having a great meal at Rosa's because the owner and staff will be tending to every detail to make it a great night out. I really like the layout of the restaurant. There is a lot of seating. You can come on your own or with a large group. There is a bar with individual seating in the back. The food was what we expected. We shared a plate of veal and chose the pasta with Alfredo sauce. It was very good and I am glad we chose to split the meal. The bread they bring to the table was perfect and I loved it. We overdid it a little by also ordering the cheesy bread, but it was just too good. We had a nice conversation with the owner as we were leaving and look forward to visiting again.

We visited on a Tuesday around 10:30 a.m., and one of my favorite things about SHU is that they serve both their brunch and lunch menus all day. Being able to order anything at any time is a huge plus. For drinks, I ordered the Sol Rising, which was perfectly balanced--not too sweet and incredibly refreshing. One thing that really stood out was their huge drink menu, unlike anything else I've seen at a brunch spot, with plenty of creative options to choose from. We also shared the Charcuterie Brunch Board, which was a standout. I especially loved the homemade cottage cheese topped with a touch of spicy honey. The berry preserves were a little runny, but the flavor was fantastic and paired beautifully with the pita bread. We also ordered the Sunny Hyde Open Omelette, which was a fun and unique take on a traditional omelette. Also enjoyed the Smoked Salmon Bagel and the Chicken & Waffles. To drink, we also had the Wake Up Call, which was the perfect twist on a cold coffee cocktail without being another espresso martini. Everything we ordered was delicious--even the potatoes, which are often an afterthought at many brunch spots, were flavorful and cooked perfectly. A special shoutout to Liz, who was an amazing server. She was friendly, attentive, and helped make our experience even better. There were several other dishes on the menu that caught my eye, so I'll definitely be back to try more. SHU is a great spot for brunch, lunch, drinks, and gathering with friends.

It was a weekend, so it was a little busy, but nothing too crazy, and we were the only walk-ins. We were seated in the bar area, and our server was very kind and friendly. The only downside was that she only checked on us once during our meal. The best part of brunch was definitely the sangria--it was delicious! Unfortunately, both my mom's food and mine came out extremely cold. The ambiance and decor are really nice, but the food didn't match the atmosphere at all. Overall, the vibes are great, but the service at the front and the quality of the food left a lot to be desired.

Ambiance: if you like rustic chic, western with a touch of modern, then you'll love this place. Food: here's where they lost a star. The food was good, really good, but the prices didn't match the quality. I had the filet, it was cooked perfectly. But almost $60 for an 8 oz filet with no sides - I felt like it was excessive. Cheyenne in Kingsburg, steak is a touch better, and the sides and bread are amazing (they're included) for the same price. Again, it's really good, just a tad spendy.

It started raining pretty hard so the entryway was difficult to maneuver with everyone trying to stay out of the rain. We had reservations and showed up 15 minutes early with our table ready. Miguel was our waiter and he was amazing! All his suggestions were spot on and he explained everything on the menu as soon as he came to our table. Scallops were tender and flavorful and were a decent size. Only came with 3 but was more than enough for 2 to share. Octopus was also cooked to perfection. Also tender and not chewy like most places. Best part was the crispy potatoes. A little salty for my palate but still good. Ribeye with bone marrow butter was probably one of the better steaks we've had at a restaurant. Just the right amount of fat to meat and tender enough to cut with a butter knife. One thing I can appreciate is it didn't have that nasty piece of tendon that runs through most ribeyes u get at restaurants and grocery stores. Also had the Dungeness crab cake with risotto. Not really a fan of risotto but the flavors melded well and was divine! Service wasn't bad for a Saturday night without long waits between appetizers and entrees and all the staff were nice and pleasant. A bit pricey but definitely worth it for a special occasion or a long needed date night!

Well, the ad blitz on TV regarding Calabrian summer enticed me back. I'm glad I went. The Calabrian dishes, all looked good, and I and a friend settled for the rigatoni with sausage. It was delicious.. the heat from the Calabrian chilies was just as promised by our waiter, Alec. He stated that it was "with a kick", and he live right on track. The kick was perfect. The sauce was delicious and the dish overall was wonderful. My wife chose a chicken scampi. I had never heard of chicken scampi, but it too was delicious. We ordered the appetizer Lasagna Frittata, and although it came between the soups and the entrée, it served as a good side. It was absolutely delicious. One side was Italian meat saucy - the other creamy and cheesy. It could have made an entrée by itself. Our soups were good, the breadsticks were just as good as ever - fresh and warm, and the handful of chocolate mince that Alec brought over as we finished made a nice after dinner minty moment. I'm sorry I forgot to take pictures of our meals, but I did get some of the Calabrian items pictured on a table card. Hope that helps. The service from our waiter,, Alec, was tremendous. He kept our drinks full, our breadsticks re-ordered and checked several times for special needs. Due to this wonderful experience, I'm much more apt to return before another year is over after the fine food and Service we all enjoyed yesterday. Hope to see you there.
