Awful, Awful service. Waitress was friendly but never came around. Other tables had to wait as well. Over priced food. The waitress didn't check on us too see how our food was until we were almost done eating. The worst part was they weren't even busy. They were standing around talking. Then when I reported this to the manger, he apologized, said our waitress was off tonight and thanks for letting him know and he'd speak with her. Not much customer service here. read more

One of my favorite memories of my trip to Vancouver was sitting here at 11 PM on their little patio, sitting under the moon and seeing fireworks. That experience alone, I would say it's a lovely place to sit and have a drink. But wow is their food something awful, especially the vegetarian version of their 'red curry.' It had like canned pineapple all throughout it and tasted pretty funky. Don't get that, I don't even know if its worth getting food here. Otherwise, nice servers & awesome view/patio. read more

The coffee tastes like chocolate and I'm not sure if this was on purpose or if the cup wasn't cleaned after a hot chocolate, but it wasn't good. The salmon benny tasted sour and I asked for medium eggs and received hard boiled. The men's washroom didn't have toilet paper and my boyfriend had to text me so I could get someone to bring him some. Not to mention the lock on the men's toilet stall didn't even lock. We also had to leave our table to find someone so we could pay and leave to find a real coffee... not impressed. Don't bother making a reservation because you don't need one--the restaurant was basically empty. I wonder why. read more

Yup. This is hands-down Vancouver's best kept secret. It is perfect for get-togethers -- especially in a town where it can be hard to find a place that will reserve for large-ish parties without a deposit. I was impressed from start to finish -- from the lovely girl who reserved and followed up for me and answered all my questions, to the very patient staff who kept us plied with the delicious food (GREAT menu) and drinks. It's VERY well-run, well-staffed and it is HUGE, inside and out. The views make it extra-special. If I was arranging a get-together, especially with a lot of people from out of town, this will be my go-to. It's really impressive, between the promenade and the vista. There are also smaller, separated areas that would be lovely for birthdays or showers or retirements. 10/10. read more

We both had soup which was very good, but we checked out the meals that were coming out of the kitchen. They all looked really really good and the prices weren't bad considering the awesome location. They were serving lots of bacon cheddar burgers around us and although they looked good, they didn't look great. If you're looking for great burger I would try somewhere else. read more

We waited for over 50 minutes and by that time we just wanted to get the bill. She never even came back for a second round of drinks or to see how our food was. read more

This restaurant seats 200+ people, and the womens washroom is out of order. After waiting in line for five minutes to use the disabled washroom, one of the restaurants staff came out. And they certainly weren't cleaning it. No restaurant should be without a washroom for the ladies. read more

Yup, more proof that a great view = mediocre everything else. Of course the location is spectacular. Corner spot with an unbeatable waterfront view of North Vancouver and the mountains. The place was pretty busy so I figured what the heck. We arrived mid-afternoon and were looking for a snack. We shared the mahi mahi fish tacos, though what arrived was a weird interpretation. It was more like a sloppy fish cone wrap. Fish was flat, as was the veggie contents. It was very messy to eat, but in a bad way. I gave some feedback to the server, but she just brought me more napkins. This kind of food might fare well with tourists, but not me. I'd say come here for a drink but their beer selection is kind of weak. read more

You are paying a big price premium for the breathtaking view and patio. Most of the patio is completely under cover/shade though, which I actually appreciate on a hot day - dual benefit of eating outside and not getting absolutely toasted. Mahi Mahi Tacos, which came to $20 after tax and tips (le gasp!), came with 2 huge pieces and was alright. While I do realize mahi mahi is a firmer fish, I thought the fish in my taco could be more tender. Sizing up the competition in waterfront dining, I do think Mahony's is better than Bellagio. I was walking with a friend, heard live music and decided to go in. The place is pretty big but was jam packed that night. Everyone seems to be having a good time and whole place had a very friendly vibe. There is plenty of seating space, but the best thing is the view. You get an unobstructed view of the north shore mountains across the Burrard Inlet. There is even a big patio for sunny days. For me it was too late for a regular order so I chose Fish and chips from the late night menu. The food tasted great, the fish portion was decent and the fries were more than enough to fill me up. Slightly pricey but you pay for the experience and the view. Service was also prompt. My only complain is that the place was too noisy, the music was too loud, so it's hard to have a conversation with other people around. Apart from that this a highly recommended place. read more

1st dine out of 2013. This was a happy accident. Don't you love those? Walking into a place because you've basically given up only to find a great meal? So we met up with our friends on a Friday Night, but they had to leave to go to hockey. Since I had parked at the Convention Centre, I didn't want to have to drive anywhere else. I was tempted to go to Subway, when my husband suggested "the bar on the end." Sure. Why not? Of course they are busy on a Friday Night, but we were seated in the far back right away. It's Dine Out 2013. Yippee... I didn't even know. Our server looked flustered as she tried to tackle the massive group beside us... take your time... we're good. When she did come back to us, we ordered everything at once to save time. I got the Tuscan Salad, Bangers and Mash and Strawberry Sundae. My husband got the Papaya Salad, Bangers and Mash and Vanilla Sundae. You know, for $18, this was a steal! I got a huge salad with sundried tomatoes and tiny little bocconcinis. I was going to order the Bangers and Mash had there not been Dine Out. The portion was huge! Three good sized sausages with mashed potatoes smothered in gravy with a side of veggies. I really enjoyed it. I would have licked my plate... The sundaes were okay. You can't really screw that up, but it was just okay. Scoop of ice cream and some sauce... All in all, really nice time looking out at the water and eating pub food. Would love to come back and have the Strongbow on tap... It's only a short Skytrain ride away. read more

I guess they are only on for advertising purposes because the restaraunt didn't confirm the order after 15 min. I had lunch here with my boss after enjoying a quiet dinner here one evening with my girlfriend. Both times have been pretty good so far. The food is surprisingly high quality for a pub, and the pints go down well. There's a decent selection of the more common beers, wines and spirits. I think my favourite meal is the Armstrong cheddar and Irish gammon bacon burger. A juicy, beefy patty draped in cheese and bacon, with a load of fixin's. I had a hard time trying to finish the side of fries after wolfing down the burger. I kept nibbling though because the seasoning on the fries is pretty good. read more

I think the only thing this restaurant has going for it is the huge patio with the great view of the ocean. It's a standard Irish pub and as far as Irish pubs go its fine. But, it's lacking in anything special that really sets it apart. There are next to no good vegetarian options on the menu. The beer and wine lists are average. And, the service is okay. Outside of the patio there aren't really any other selling points. I'd rather go to the Bellaggio up the street, with a little bit less spectacular view, but far better food. read more

It's one of those warm September nights where it still feels like summer and you want to hold on to patio season just a little while longer. It was late, after dinner, after dessert that we found ourselves here at Mahony & Sons Burrard Landing in Downtown Vancouver waterfront by Canada Place, Vancouver Convention Centre, and Five Sails. There is a long patio area and usually on the weekends there's live music. Truffled Mushroom and Fontina Burger 15.95: butcher style beef burger with truffled crimini and portobello mushrooms and fontina cheese was the reason why we ate a second dinner. After hours of long chat with our besties, our stomachs were feeling a bit empty. What better way than to split a mouth watering juicy beef patty all smothered with truffle oil, criminis and portobello shrooms - with a side of beer of course! Crispy fries are always a nice addition! Prices are a bit steep, yes agreed. But it is prime real estate with a fabulous ocean view. $1.39 special is not what's really being advertised. Service is great and prompt. No complaints. Nothing a few beers can't fix anyways. Bottoms up! read more

Okay so normally I love this place - the lamb stew is fabulous, the sunday sampler is amazing, 4.5 stars would have been my normal review level for this place, and the service is usually good. Today was a shocker though: Two years ago I went to this pub with my mom and my stylist as a lunch break from Circle Craft on a saturday. It was a soccer day when Ireland was playing so of course the place was packed. Still, that day we had good food, good service, and the lamb stew was out of this world. Today we went in hoping for the same experience, but without the soccer game. It's a monday, the restaurant was relatively quiet, so they sat us down right away in the back of the restaurant with a few other seated tables. 5 minutes go buy, a few other tables are getting their orders taken, at least 3 servers walk by. 10 minutes go by, 8 servers have been spotted, none have been to our table even to take drink orders. At 20 minutes we got up, walked to the front, leaving our menus sitting closed on the table, and I stopped and told the hostess on the way out the door that "the servers really should take at least a drink order within the first fifteen minutes" and walked out. Our table had been glanced at by at least 10 different servers who would then approach every table around us but ours. When we left, we went a few doors up to Bellaggio and had a different experience altogether (much more pleasant, separate review will be posted). Honestly, I love the food there, but today the service...shockingly bad for such a slow day considering the number of servers on duty taking to tables in our section. I hope the management holds a staff meeting about this type of issue because honestly I hesitate to go back - good food is nothing without good service, and this is waaaaaaaaaay below what I experienced last time i was there, especially considering how many servers ignored us. Being starving I said don't worry about it and ate what I could which was not much... (I have allergies so had to pick apart the meal). You can't beat the view of Burrard Inlet/North Shore mountains. The service was quick and friendly. They have a decent selection of beer on tap and the prices seem about average for a waterfront location. I had the beef dip which was good and you get a mountain fires with it. The waitress said that they will be building some seating outside for the summer. It is a nice upgrade for the areas pub crowd that needs a change from the usual Lion's Head and Smiley's. read more

I was craving nachos and my friend searched for best nachos in Vancouver and this place came up as one of the top three. Blaaa... Most bland nachos ever. There was no heat at all. Wound up here after wandering around looking for dinner on a Friday night. Lineups everywhere else. The food was middling to OK. About 10 minutes after we sat down, a live musician began playing. He was good, but amplified way too high; the speaker over our heads was crackling and cutting out. People at the table next to us got up and left soon after. It is hard for me to stay angry at poor service when the food tastes so good! How many time do I have to ask for extra tartare sauce? 3 times and the 2nd and 3 rd time was with the shift manager! Conveniently shows up when the fish was cold. When we, the customer, make an effort to show up before the rush, I'd hope the staff can spend the time to meet our requests.
