Always consistently delicious Chinese food and sushi! Their drinks are good as well but pack a punch. Large family size portions, their prices are a bit more expensive than your typical Chinese food take out place but their quality is way better. So Mai Pearl is a bit on the expensive side but it's a good restaurant. The food is Mandarin with some Japanese and even Thai and Indian. It's not extensively far from average Massachusetts Mandarin cuisine, though I do like that they use basmati rice for their pork fried rice, it DOES make a difference! Yum! They serve big portions and the place is ultra-clean and professional. It's not wicked formal but not casual either. Mai Pearl has a BIG menu and what you like and don't like vary wildly, and there is something probably for everyone, including kids. Mai Pearl is hands down the favorite 'date night' restaurant for my wife and I. We both love the drinks and especially the maki. We have never had anything that wasn't delicious. Large size servings if your up for it, perfectly cooked vegetables with some crunch, sweet corn chicken soup (for 2) was awesome, sea bass off the charts. Went here tonight to celebrate a family birthday. We had sushi, lo mein and drinks at the bar. As usual the food and drink were superior. Generous portions and the bartender made a great drink and was a very nice, attentive guy. We will go back again, as we always do. If you want terrible service and a horrible unprofessional management staff, go to this restaurant. We went this weekend with my family of 7. When we walked in the hostess asked if we had a reservation. I said no and she stuck us at a table at the back of the room behind a wall divider. No one came over for about 10 minutes and when she did, she was totally annoyed at us. Took her another 15 minutes to bring the drinks. I ordered the food for the table and once it came, it was wrong. The waitress was mad at me and proceeded to glare and scowl at us for the remainder of the time. Poured water all over the table in front of me and walked away without one word. Took another 20 minutes to get the check and it was literally thrown at us on the table and the waitress huffed off. Then we had to ask someone to come run the credit card to which we had returned to us by throwing it on the table. No service, no thank you, not one single comment. Never been treated so horribly in a restaurant as a paying customer. I went up to the hostess and asked for the manager. She pointed to the man behind the register so I nicely went over to him and asked if he was the manager. He didn't even look up from the register and said "I'm not the manager". I said sir your hostess told me you are the manager and he again didn't look at me and repeated that he is not the manager. There were some men waiting in his line to pay for takeout who started making jokes and they both laughed at me. Who treats customers like this? He wouldn't even speak to me. While the sushi is generally good (although not all that creative) the service has gone steadily downhill over the last 9 months to the point where we walked out. Went there on a Saturday night at 7:30 and it wasn't packed so we sat down right away. The place was very open, kinda too much empty space. I think they could have made it into more of a darker lounge-like feel like some places you find in Boston. Anyways, they have a huge menu with Chinese and Japanase (sushi) food. We got the edamame (as usual) and an order of the scallion pancakes which are the best I've ever had. We ordered a party boat for 4 which was about $60 and had a great variation of the popular roll choices. We actually left stuffed which doesn't always happen at sushi places. I judge all sushi restaurants by ordering salmon sashimi. The portions were large and the fish tasted fresh. So, overall, I think Mai Perl lacks ambience but the food is of good quality and worth a try. Also, we had a great waitress who joked around with us and was very personable and attentive. read more

We ordered delivery from them and received terrible customer service. We ordered some food and then called back to change our order immediately. They said it was fine as they hadn't started making our food yet. When our food arrived we received the food we removed from.our order instead of the food we kept on our order. Clearly there was a misunderstanding so we called back to let them know and the woman on the phone insisted we were wrong even though the total she told us on the phone matched what we should have received and not what they sent. Instead of having a civil conversation she yelled and said she could not help us. Went for lunch with my wife today. Food was good but don't ask for ANY changes to the lunch menu. I told them I would pay to change Generals gaus chicken to shrimp and wanted house fried rice not vegetable also willing to pay up charge. Wasnt happening but I told them to give me Hunan shrimp no sauce add generals sauce and they did! How stupid is that? Only difference is my shrimp wasn't fried. (I prefer that) Silly as I would have paid more and they wouldn't do it and keep my order simple. had to circumnavigate the system. As I said food was good but I probably won't go back to the lunch Nazi's that don't want to accomodate customers. No they were not busy. It was my wife and I and 2 individuals each reading the paper sitting alone. As we were leaving another cpl mom and daughter I guess walked in. They were not to busy to make a small change. Check out menu on line. if you like it as is go for it, just don't ask for substitutions. At a minimum no substitutions should be printed on the menu and it isn't. To make matters worse waitress took my order as I ordered it and 10 minutes (yes too long) came back with a manager and said no we can't do it. Place is very clean and tastefully decorated but needs better management and to be more customer oriented. Drinks are EXPENSIVE! My Suffering Bastard was weak and about 9 bucks. Portions are big. I still left being the suffering bastard for the price and service. They were also out of Toro and my Scallop sushi was triple wrapped in nori and nori overpowered the scallops so I had to unwrap it and just eat the inside. nigiri made with (Whatever the not fatty tuna is called) was OK. Love asian food, personally I think this is the best in the area. I have tried all of the above mentioned places, as well as many in Boston. Mai Pearl totally outdoes the competition. The atmosphere is great. The staff is superb. I have never has such good service. The food is amazing! Fresh, steaming hot, large portions. Presentation is beautiful. Sushi is delicious. Me and my family used to love this place. We came every Friday and got to know the staff. But the last couple of visits we have noticed that the prices were higher, the service was worse and the food was simply "meh". It took them 15 minutes to bring me a diet coke. The food came out cold. Usually there it takes 20 minutes tops for the food to come out (on a packed Friday night) when on this particular Friday night (less packed than normal) it took an hour and 15 minutes for food. It was ridiculous. Also, the waiter brought my mom the wrong kind of wine (she said it was awful). Since there are 5 other Chinese food places in foxboro we will be going somewhere else from now on. read more

When our drinks finally arrived, after a 20 minute wait, we were extremely disappointed with the $8, half glass of cheap wine. The mojito was good but not worth the wait. The food was good. The food at the Mai Pearl is terrific, very fresh and high quality. The menu options are all attractive and I have a queue of dishes I can't wait to try. Service is good and servers have helped us put together dishes that are not on the menu (like orange chicken instead of orange beef). The prices are on the expensive side, however, the portions are enormous so we have always been able to share entrees or take home leftovers (or both). A++ read more

What a nice surprise addition to the Asian food repertoire in the south shore area. Have enjoyed the very fresh and beautifully presented food three times now--so far everything in the sushi and chinese categories has been great. Try the crunchy Pad Thai for a great variation on the classic. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff is friendly and accomodating. I love the cleanliness, service and food at Mai Pearl. Everything is fresh and delicious. A little pricier than other similar restaurants but worth it. My only complaint is there is no complimentary refills on soda. While it is a trivial thing in a time when nearly all restaurants have free refills it annoys me to pay for a soda and not have the option of getting a free refill. read more

I've been to Mai Pearl several times and it is also my favorite take out restaurant. The food is consistently excellent. The restaurant can be noisy, especially when full, but the service is always spot on. Their beef with broccoli is delicious always tender beef and piping hot. We've ordered before with no problem otherwise it would be a 0 star. Although it's New Year's eve, we knew to order well in advance...we ordered at 3:30pm and asked for 7:00pm delivery....knowing it would be late. Between 8-8:15pm we began calling and calling and there was NO answer. Finally at 8:30pm we called the fax line and someone picked up and told us the order was "on it's way"... it's now 8:45pm and no food...they said it was the kitchen's fault not the drivers (i.e. don't skimp on the tip? really?) So YELP it is!! And of course the food was lukewarm and had to be reheated! Not thrilled when we had guests and hungry kids! read more

I arrived at Mai Pearl for lunch at 2:45. At nearly 3, despite being the only person in the restaurant, my order had not been taken. I went to the front desk and asked that my order be taken. The waitress waited a couple more minutes until 3:01, then came to take my order. When I ordered a luncheon special, I was told that this was impossible, because lunch specials were only served until 3! I believe the delay was intentional. Quality of food is not relevant at a place that intentionally gives me bad service in an attempt to scam me out of a few bucks. read more
