Great place overall. Nice decor, cute bar area and quick service. Unexpected but great sushi- the Nigiri was super fresh and perfectly portioned. The service was spot on- very friendly staff, very helpful in ordering and nicely attentive. Tried the General Gao's chicken (at least I think that's what it was called) and it was fantastic. Not as heavy as normal Chinese dishes despite being fried, the sauce was fantastic and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. Impressive first time here. Definitely going back. read more

Mai pearl is a great local place to get high quality Asian food. We go here at least once a month! The food is always delicious. We moved from downtown boston and had trouble finding good sushi. This is the best sushi in the area! We also enjoy the Hunan beef and Thai basil chicken. read more

Holy cow! I'm in a band that plays over at the Waxy's in the same parking lot, and our soundguy told us the food here was great. So we met up with him before our last gig, and proceeded to devour the best asian cuisine I've ever tasted. The other guys were raving about their fruity drinks, I tasted each one, very tasty! The portions were very large, and what I brought home for leftovers reheated very well, the family was impressed! I guess we'll be going here before all of our gigs. read more

I had heard good things about this place, but I must say I was very disappointed. The so called "homemade ravioli" in my opinion were not homemade at all, and I could've sworn I had the exact same version at a place down the street. The service was absolutely horrific, Appetizers came out without any "sauces"- sweet and sour, hot mustard or anything else typically served with chinese. It took appx 1.5 hours to bring out fried rice and a beef dish, which the waiter brought out appx 10-15 minutes apart. Additionally I was never served water until the end of the meal and it took me walking up to the front desk to get someone to come over. The "combination plate" of mediocre food and ghastly service ruined what could've been a great night out. I absolutely implore you to spend your hard earned money elsewhere. We were SO happy they have reopened. We've been stuck ordering from other places who just don't make the dishes correctly. This is the ONLY place in our area that makes cashew chicken with celery. Why mess with the most basic foods? I don't want a variety of veggies in mine, but I do want white meat. Thank GOD Mai Pearl is back. Even my 7 year old mentioned the amazing difference with the Peking ravioli---other places in Walpole have really thick wrappers, but theirs is tasty and thin. We ordered delivery. Quoted that it would be delivered by 6:41 on a Friday night. It was delivered EXACTLY where we requested (by the garage to avoid the dogs barking!) about 10 minutes earlier than promised. Seriously. What more could I ask for? Prices are a little higher than Ginjo, but the food is significantly better. Maybe next time I'll order those drinks I was eyeing--since I'm not driving! Welcome back. Came here based on recommendations from locals that this is the best Chinese in the area. Being a Saturday night, we called ahead to make reservations. Place sits in a shopping center close to route 140 and is a pretty decent sized place inside with a bar area and large dining room. Place was somewhat crowded but not bad for a Saturday night and not at all filled to capacity. Started off with the hostess trying to seat us at one table and then a waitress almost yelling at him to have come to a different table. Service started off good and was friendly but it went downhill from there. Menu is assorted Chinese dishes which all are pretty large portions at somewhat decent prices. It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks and then we went to put an order in and it took another 10 minutes for the our waitress to come back and take our order. We ordered assorted appetizers to start and then put in the entrees order of fried rice, lo mein, beef and broccoli and chicken with cashews. It took about 30 minutes to get the appetizers. All along there were other diners sitting what looked like a while to get food and waitstaff running all over the place, disorganized and what appeared like this place was seriously understaffed. We finished the appetizers and it took a whopping 25 more minutes to get our actual meal which by that point we did not even want and we almost got up and left. The food was pretty good, aside from the egg rolls (not great) and the chicken and cashews which tasted like an overkill of anise. Other than that fried rice and lo mein all tasted good. I would come back to get take out for the food, but I think I would think twice about ever eating in at this place seeing the service is terrible and the place is basically a disorganized mess on one of the busiest nights of the week. It shouldn't take over an hour to get served at a Chinese restaurant. Think twice if you want to eat inside the place! read more

Recently ordered food for take out (Avocado Maki, Idaho Maki and Miso Soup). When I arrived the woman behind the counter said my total was $25, I said, "Really? $25 feels high for what I ordered." She began listing off what I ordered and also added a Philadelphia Roll, I insisted I didn't order a Philadelphia Roll but she said "yes, you did I spoke with you on the phone, you ordered it" she began reciting my phone number. I replied, "yes that's my phone number but I didn't order a Philadelphia Roll and I wouldn't order one because I don't eat seafood." I thought this would end the debate but she continued persisting.. I ended up saying, "I really don't understand why you are arguing with me, if I ordered a Philadelphia Roll, I would pay for it" They ended up taking the Philadelphia Roll off of my order but I was horrified that they thought it was okay to conduct business like that and speak to customers the way they did, especially because the take out desk is right next to the bar so there were quite a few spectators. I really do enjoy the food but I will not be returning Mai Pearl after the hostility I encountered. No thanks. read more

I've been eating here for at least 8 years now. Recently I noticed that the portions have been drastically reduced. For example, an order of chicken fried rice would easily feed 2 people with plenty left over. Now, the dish is probably 20% smaller and 2 people easily finish it. I came here for the third time last week, and like the previous two times, me and the boy were underwhelmed by the food. We lost our appetites because the wait staff could not wait for the customers to leave before vacuuming the floor, that is just gross and rude. If you close at 10 then you close at 10 and wait till the patrons to leave to vacuum, that is the way to do it professionally. Also there was WAYYY too much mayo on one of the sushi's. I always sit at the bar when I come here. Amazing service. The bartenders genuinely care about making you happy. They serve my food to us and we get hot towels at the end. Very service oriented. I made a take out order on New Years eve... I was told it would take anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour, which i totally understood due to the holiday and was more then willing to wait. I prepaid the order. I waited well over an hour for my take out order. When I inquired about the status of my order I was told that they would call me right back on my phone even though I was waiting in their establishment. Ten minutes later I never recieved a call back. I went back to inquire about my order, they couldn't find it. After waiting another 10 minutes while they tried to figure out what was going on with my order I was told they would start cooking it then. The man next to me started complaining that he wasn't willing to wait any longer either as he had been waiting forever also. I told the girl behind the counter that I wasn't willing to wait any longer as it had been well over 90 minutes already and I wanted my money back. She just kept insisting I wait while they start cooking the food. Then she couldn't figure out how to refund my money. I don't care how good your food is, your service is horrific and I will never be back! read more

Went here on Christmas Eve. The hostess first of all didn't even have a time when we asked how long for 4 people. It gets better... we waited an hour to get our drinks. AN HOUR just to get waters. There was 4 party's that came after us and they got there drinks and food before we even ordered. Many waitresses and waiters walked pass us and didn't even notice that there was no one helping us. Found the Sushi to be inconsistent from time to time. One day it's great...next time it's bland, falling apart, sticking together. Bento Box lunch tasted like a bland cheap take out place. But still like the variety of Asian food (Chinese, Japanese, Thai) on menu. Very clean and somewhat contemporary. Atmosphere can be a little dead and too quiet during afternoon hours but definitely not on Friday or Saturday night. Pad Thai is really good. Scorpion Bowl rocks. read more

Strictly a review on Thursday lunches! Atmosphere is kinda underwhelming, in a boxy sense. Staff remembered us from previous visits and sat us in the same corner table, which was nice! Good sushi, all the regular stuff, and then some interesting maki rolls as well. Seaweed salad comes in a huuuuge portion. Drinks are delightful, nice and strong. I absolutely love this place! My boyfriend and I love to sit at the bar whenever we stop in, have yummy Mai Thais or Scorpion bowls created by the fabulous Lisa. We always try something new...dine on delicious sushi, and Udon noodles. Crazy expensive. A sushi roll is around $11 where I can get the same item at Asian Ginger for $6. Food is good but not that good. This is the suburbs, not NYC. A few sushi rolls will run you $30-40. Had the miss-fortune of ordering takeout from here this past weekend. Food was cold and poor quality; general gau's chicken felt like reheated chicken fingers, cold in the center with a sweet sauce glaze (absolutely no spice). The sushi (Spicy tuna) was warm, after one piece I figured it would be safer to pass on the dish. I went here for a 40th birthday dinner for my brother. Among other things, we ordered the large Sushi boat. It looked big enough to take out on the ocean for a day of sailing. The sushi which was expertly piled into the boat was very well made and very tasty. Try not to ask for any out of the ordinary drinks from the bar though , our server was clueless about anything not on the drink menu. Overall a great place to get some great sushi. read more

I really enjoy there sushi but the Chinese food I am skeptical on. The fried rice has lots of bean sprouts in it and the egg drop soup looks like yellow food coloring was added also the corn in it leaves an awkward after taste. But as far as sushi goes, go there!
