    Mango Crab Rangoon
    Terrence C.

I eat a lot of Thai food and this is a really good place to eat. I visited here while I was on a work trip and ate the mango crab Rangoon and Pad see eew, both were delicious and cooked perfectly. I do not give out a 5 star rating easily but the service was great and the food was delicious. The restaurant does not have any frills but the food is amazing. I will be back. Worth your time when you are in west Omaha.

I've eaten at Mai Thai a few times over the years and have a pretty solid experience every time. I'll also say that the service is pretty poor for the most part and I sadly expect that for most Asian restaurants. The food itself is consistently good. I think that Mai Thai has a lot of different dishes that cater well towards people that also don't eat much Thai (or are experiencing it for the first time). Dishes like the crispy chicken, mango chicken, and drunken noodles are all friendly dishes for the Thai food new comer. The other dishes are all very well done as well in my opinion. One complaint I have about the food is the curry texture. Mai Thai serves watery/thin textured curry, where it evaporates when it hits the rice. Not a huge fan and I've stopped ordering the curry from there. Maybe not the best Thai in Omaha and the prices are also a bit steeper than other places. Still, I'm a fan of Mai Thai and think it's one of the better Thai options in West Omaha (I prefer it over Taste of Thailand and Thai Kitchen).

    Burned vegetables Ann's calamari

This is truly the worst Thai food I've ever had. I ordered fried calamari. It came with lots of burned vegetables and little burned calamari. I also ordered PadThai and it's tasteless, actually you can taste the oil. No lime in the box either. Really bad. Since I ordered to go, I had no service. Ambiance is cheap, dark, cold and depressing. Would not want to eat inside for sure.

This was rare beef pho. It was horrible.

Not sure why but I'm pretty sure they put peanuts in my broth..... and they forgot most of the fixings in my to go order. This has never happened to me before getting pho. I will never come back here again. 0/10 for this order. Disappointed.

Based on my previous a few years back, it took this long before I made the decision to return back. Service was much better even though there was only 1 server there. I ordered the mango beef fried rice with a level 3 spiciness rating. Food took longer than usual but the fried rice was actually tasty. Waters were refilled once our food arrived. Overall a much better experience than 3 years ago.

    Mango chicken dinner entree

My husband and I had dinner here on a Friday evening. We ordered the crab Rangoon appetizer and split the signature mango chicken for our entree. We asked for no heat for our entree and we were glad. Very flavorful, but not spicy which is what we prefer. Service and atmosphere were simple. Our food was fresh and hot and very good. Splitting one entree was perfect as we didn't want any leftovers. Open dining room with a drum set for live music.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Omaha, and probably ever, for the food alone. There hasn't been anything I've ordered that hasn't been delicious. The flavors are fantastic and so mouthwatering. It's not just the generic brown sauce you'd find elsewhere. Each dish has a bit of a "tang" to it for a lack of a better word. My favorite dishes are the garlic chicken, crispy chicken, and cashew chicken. That said, the service is awful. The 144th location is much better than the Aksarben location, but it is rare that we have a good server at either location. At best, they bring your food out to you and leave you to it, and you'll have to flag down your server who is nowhere to be seen to pay your bill and leave. If they could improve their customer service, this would be a top-notch place.

I recently visited Mai Thai again and was pleasantly surprised by their renovation. The restaurant space has easily doubled in size, which really helps with the dining experience. I did not have to wait to be seated, even on a weekend night. The decor is lovely and more updated/modern than before. If you plan on drinking though, arrive early or come with a small group. Apparently they do not have a liquor/alcohol license for the new side of the restaurant (I think they combined with the building next door) so they can only serve alcohol on the original side of the restaurant. Humorous, but good to know! I'm guessing they'll update that soon. The service this time was also much better than my last experience. Faster, more attentive and friendly. I got the panang curry again, which left the same great impression. I decided to try their drunken noodle with chicken, since I'm not a fan of their pad thai. I liked it better than the pad thai, but it still didn't hit the mark. I love noodles, and can be pretty easily pleased in the arena, but the basil in the dish was so overpowering that I could barely taste anything else.

When I eat here it feels like my soul leaves my body and starts ascending, that is how good it is. Service Um, ed, and Maggie are genuinely some of my favorite servers in the whole world; sometimes when I go here I'm looking forward to seeing them as much as I am the food. While sometimes it can be a bit slow, that is because the kitchen is taking their time for you, no shortcuts. Food Every time I eat here I think, "it can possibly get better than last time," but guess what, it does. Every thing I have gotten here has been AMAZING, for example the drunken noodles and the pad Thai, and don't get me started on the pho, absolutely heavenly. Ambience Khao Niao has some of the best ambience. Every time you eat here you can look around and find something new. They focus on a wood interior with beautifully crafted tables and archways. Along with some little fountains 10/10 ambiance Overall Khao niao is as good as it gets, by far my favorite restaurant!

This is hands down the best thai in omaha. I have a friend that has tried many thai places here and recommended this place to me. We always go with the pad thai but definitely want to branch out next time we go. It is a little on the pricier side but thats what you get for high quality food. You also get to choose your spice level. We will continue to come back!!

The dipping sauce had a nice sweet and tangy balance that tied it all together. You can tell everything was made fresh. The soup was just what I wanted too. Light but really flavorful broth, plenty of herbs and green onions, and comforting without feeling heavy. Service was friendly, food came out quick, and the overall vibe was relaxed and easy. Great local spot when you're in the mood for fresh, flavorful Thai food. Would definitely come back.

Honestly I was really disappointed with Mercy Thai…read more The chicken wings were completely flavorless. They literally just seemed battered in panko and fried with no seasoning at all. 0/10. The crab rangoons sounded good from the description -- cream cheese, crab pieces, onion, and carrots -- but they were WAY too sweet for my taste. Not to mention there were none of the ingredients described inside?! Seems like it was only cream cheese and sugar. Then the sweet chili sauce that came with them was super watery and just made it worse. 2/10 overall. I also tried my boyfriend's drunken noodles and... mid at best Definitely not something I'd come back for. Maybe other menu items are better, but based on what I tried, I personally wouldn't recommend it.

I do love pad thai itself, but I unfortunately did NOT love "I Love Pad Thai" the restaurant…read more We ordered it for delivery when we were working one day and couldn't make it out for lunch/didn't have time to make lunch ourselves. I know everywhere is better if you eat it inside, but if they offer delivery, I think that it should be about on par with what you get in the restaurant (because they certainly charge the same or more than dining in). This either was just not great from the get go, or it lost a LOT of quality in the delivery time. I don't think that's the case, because a delivery time doesn't make most of the food almost FLAVORLESS. Cold, maybe - but flavor doesn't vanish from it being delivered? So if you couldn't tell, we were not fans of almost anything we received. My Pad See Yew was literally flavorless. It tasted like WATER was used for the "sauce" on it. The chicken in it was also very stringy and dry. My husband got the Pad Thai, which did have a little bit more flavor, with the peanut sauce, but not a whole lot more. The only saving grace was the fried dumpling appetizer we ordered. Those were tasty and the dipping sauce they came with was good (it said it was just soy sauce but it wasn't super salty like soy sauce, more sweet). At almost $50 for two entrees that were basically untouched because they were so dry and flavorless, I would say order elsewhere or dine inside so you can gauge what you are getting in person.

For the price, my portion was small and the chicken had a rubbery flavor. And it was very greasy!…read moreToo bad it's in a great location.
