Maybe I got lucky but the chicken pad thai was so good! It came out hot, perfectly plated, and extra spicy. I ordered a level 5, which doesn't sound crazy when sitting next to my friend who ordered a 10 out of 5. I'm glad that the waiter asked if I wanted everything on it because I didn't think to take out beansprouts (yuck) until he brought it up. I came here on another occasion and tried the curry, which was also pretty good. This place is pretty pricey for thai, but considering the location and great food, it's totally worth it. read more

Mai Thai's been around for awhile and is probably one of the first restaurants that opened in Aksarben Village, so the fact it's still open after several years is a testament that they serve up some pretty good food in a nice atmosphere. Ordered the spring rolls and red curry with beef. The spring rolls are hefty and fresh. At spice level 3, the curry had a hint of spice and was pretty much what you'd expect flavor-wise. Staff were friendly and attentive. The prices are a bit higher than some other Thai spots. Maybe it's the location. Overall, a good spot for dinner or lunch if you're in the area. read more

We always stop at Mai Thai when in Omaha. It's one of our favorites! It's located in an upper scale, trendy shopping area. Easy access. If you can't get a parking space in front, there's a large garage behind and it's a short walk. We started off with an appetizer of fried vegetable dumplings. Very good. This was our first time ordering them and we were not disappointed. Since it was lunch, we split the beef drunken noodles. Yum! The drunken noodles are my favorite entree from here. We ordered medium heat and asked for some extra seasoning on the side. I haven't worked up the courage to order hot yet! I'm honestly surprised that the ratings are not higher for this restaurant. Had a great time at Mai Thai with the fam! The host sat us in the outside area which was a little crowded, but, still adequate space for stuffing your face and socializing. Our waiter was pretty attentive and friendly, however, the wait time for our main entrees was a little long. The best part of our meal were the appetizers (sorry we ate them so fast I didn't take a pic). The spring rolls were obviously fresh and fantastic with the spicy peanut sauce and the fried calamari with the sweet and spicy sauce was the bomb.com! Our main meals were at par with other Asian restaurants, the only down size for the spicy lovers in our party was the spice level. Out of 5 levels (1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest), two people ordered a level 3 and another ordered a level 2, I had no spice. Unfortunately, the spice level on all our plates were the same, none. Overall I say checkout Mai Thai. I absolutely love the food that I order here. The edamame is my favorite appetizer and you can request it spicy as well, which I love. I have not met an entree that I didn't love. I do, however, continue to be disappointed by the service. It is almost impossible to do a quick lunch here. I attempted to curb this by asking our check to come out with our food- I had to ask 5 different times after that to receive it, which was frustrating. read more

I've been here just a few times. While the food is good, the service is only ok. They do have a large menu which is sure to please almost anyone when you come with a group. My favorite dish is always the drunken noodles which were great the last time I was here. My boyfriend got the peanut butter chicken and loved it, but it doesn't over come the slow service. They couldn't even remember who ordered what. And getting a refills on water was not easy. The peanut butter chicken here is the best. Tender white meat with a crunchy outer layer. The peanut sauce is perfect consistency then it comes with a side of rice. Also drunken noodles with steak is a great meal. Great array of vegetables, steak, egg, and noodles. I went to lunch at Mai Thai for the first time yesterday with a friend and I had an amazing experience. We were immediately seated when we walked in and were greeted by our server. I ordered a Thai Iced Coffee and the beef Pad Thai. The Thai Iced Coffee was honestly amazing. Pretty sweet but with a great balance with the black coffee. The beef Pad Thai was awesome. I ordered the #2 spice with it and there was so much flavor and you get a healthy portion. The lunch prices weren't bad at all. The Pad Thai was $10, which was right on point. All in all, the service was great, food and drink were awesome, and the prices were on point. I'll definitely be coming back here! read more

Mai Thai is solid Thai and still one of my favorites in Omaha (the location in West Omaha is similar in both quality and service). I would say that my biggest qualm with Mai Thai is the price and the service (service is always lacking for some reason). Expect to pay 25-50% more for your Thai dishes than other Thai restaurants in Omaha. I will say that the portion sizings are all very good for the most part. They gave us plenty of beef in our yellow curry and the whole fried tilapia was reasonably priced. The flavors are all great and I still like Mai Thai as one of my favorites in Omaha. We really enjoy the patio seating at Aksarben while sipping on a Mai Thai...all day every day $5 gotta love that! They serve the best Spring Rolls I've ever had. They're light & flavorful with a yummy peanut sauce! For my main course, I typically order Chicken Mango or Asparagus Delight (chicken & shrimp), both served with sticky rice. However this time, I tried something completely new & love it....Bangkok Noodle with chicken. The flavor is amazing with garlic, egg, bean sprouts, scallions, & crushed peanuts! Let me start off by saying the food here is very good. Everything I've had in my multiple instances here has been very enjoyable. However every time I go here the service is incredibly slow. Many times it takes 15 minutes just to put an order in and typically it's not even that busy. This place would get 5 stars if it didn't take so long. We've been going to Mai Thai in Aksarben since 2012. We try other Thai restaurants but always finding ourselves comparing their chicken and mango crab rangoon. The consistency and ingredient quality are really great, and you can get heat if you ask for it. The sauces are super balanced. So...I have been a customer to this place for a few years. Now mind you, not like I was a "know her by name" but definitely a repeat customer. I turned so many people onto this restaurant because of the food and the experience(s). So imagine my surprise when one hiccup derailed my entire experience for ever returning. So I called in a order to pick up. I was very specific and even mentioned that I had two separate orders. They seent (yes I said it) no problem with it. So the first order was seafood fried rice with a level 2, mango crab Rangoon, and egg rolls and they stated they did not have egg rolls available so I switched it to shrimp spring rolls. Order one was done. Then the second order was a shrimp fried rice level 3 and mango crab rangoon (2). Order two done. I then asked for the totals. The answering person said they were really busy and that I had to be on hold for him to calculate the amounts. I kindly held. He returned, he then repeated the first order and again we confirmed and total was given. He then went to state the second order. I confirmed SHRIMP! Then the total was provided. So, I came to the restaurant, paid, etc. This was a hour and a half before close time. The aksarben area was busy that day so I returned to destination and then when I did I seen that my order the second one was incorrect. I called them and told them hey order mess up, cannot return tonight but do not eat chicken and was served chicken. The woman said sorry and put me on the line with the guy who took my order. Now this is where the frustration began. I told him what the orders were. He remembered. He agreed I said shrimp initially. Shrimp fried rice and seafood fried rice but then had the audacity to say when he repeated my order to me he said chicken. So then I brought to his attention there was no chicken in either order and when he repeated it back he said shrimp and I agreed. He then became nasty and said all we can do is have you bring back the order and give you 20% off a new order. I was too far away and could not return in time. Specifically said that too. NOW! Hold up! Pause. Why in the heavens would I pay for another order that they messed up on. Then he tried to pretend he was throwing me a bone or favor by giving a 20% off. They tried to argue that I was not charged for shrimp and to be content with my food. After such a disturbing experience I decided I am not returning. I even offered to pay for just the up charge in shrimp since I was not charged but they had the audacity to mess up my order and then expect me to pay for my full order again and give me 20% as if that would help. I was disappointed because I really did like the food but after that service experience and as much as I have ordered over the years. It was time to let it be. So hopeful that the next customers are treated better because that experience was some bullsugar. read more

I have eaten here twice now and the food is exceptional as is the service. I normally only order fried rice but today decided to try something new. I ordered the pineapple chicken with cashews. I was asked about the spice level and responded with a 0 (I'm a lightweight) and did not think anything about it. The first bite was delicious but I felt a little heat. Then my mouth was on fire!!! Lol. My son tried it and he loves spicy food and he said he felt the best too. Well, the server came over and was so gracious. They brought me an order of the fried rice and did not charge me for the other dish and I was more than willing to pay for it. Definitely not somewhere I would eat ever again. The restaurant is nice, plates look great, but the food just wasn't authentic at all. Green curry is my go-to and my barometer for whether the Thai food is good or not. I've had my fair share of bad green curry, but I'm lucky that I've lived in cities outside of Omaha and have had real and delicious Thai food too. Flavors at Mai Thai were weak and not enjoyable. This is what I would call "white people spicy" - a 4 of of 5 spicy wasn't remotely hot. When you ask for spicy, you don't get spicy. If this was an authentic Thai place, 4/5 spicy would have burned my mouth off (in a good way). As I always say, what's the point of curry if it's not spicy? Thai is one of my favorites and this place is worse than disappointing. I turn down my coworkers every time they go here for lunch, I just have no interest in paying $20 for blah food. Delicious food at this place! Try the Mango Crab Rangoon, the mango inside the Rangoon with the sauce makes this dish so special. Pad Thai, quite disappointing because my beef was overcooked and the noodles are mushy. That's why I said delicious food and not Thai foods. Duck on the Beach- seriously, try this, one of the best dish I ever had. Duck is perfectly cooked with the crispy skin. It goes along with some veggies and seafood (scallops, shrimp, mussels), but the secret is the sauce. The sauce is not too spicy, creamy, with the hint of lemongrass and basil. Staffs are not very attentive, it felt like we were nagging to get their attentions. First time visiting Mai Thai restaurant in Aksarben Village. Restaurant was nice inside and was greeted right away. I ordered the Tom Yum Chicken soup which had lemon grass, kaffir Lime, galangal and chicken. All was good and a different take on hot and sour soup. I had the spice level of 4 on a hot scale of 1-5 with 5 being the hottest. Next time I will do a five level spicy hot. It had good heat but it did not have the sour. Overall ok, not bad, was acceptable but was not great. The soup was warm not hot. The soup also came with a side of rice you can add if you want to make the soup more hearty. The meal was pricey but so was everything else on the menu. Not sure the price was worth it. What I really was hoping for was a vegetarian salad but they did not have that available. I would go again if others were going but would not be a restaurant I would recommend to others. Not bad, not great just ok. read more

Excellent food and service. We we greeted graciously upon arrival and served quickly. We had Yellow curry with chicken, Pinnapple fried rice with shrimp, Ka Pow chicken and Summer fire beef. All dishes were well prepared and tasted delicious. Ended with key lime cheesecake which was perfect. Only reason for 4 is pinnapple rice came with lots of onion and we had requested no onion and had to ask for spice tray. Would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I have a love - hate relationship with Mai Thai. I love their Spring Rolls and Drunken Noodles. I hate the service. It's honestly sometimes painful. Expect it to take sometime for the staff to come by your table. And expect it to take some time for your order. And a little more time to get your bill. I'm not saying that this is every time you go there, just like 75% of the time. Why do I go back......because the food is extremely good. And people know this. So even though the service sucks sometimes, we will deal with it because the food rocks! Located in the Aksarben area. Mai Thai is also on Skip the Dishes. So if you don't want to deal with the service aspect of it you can have someone deliver it to you. They also do take away orders so you can call and then swing by to pick it up. I would suggest parking in the back in the free parking garage. Getting a spot out front is sometimes hard to get. So put your patience pants on and go get some Drunken Noodles, beef, with little spice. read more

The food was good. That isn't my complaint. I visited the Askarben location on Tuesday February 1st during lunch, and my credit card info was stolen there.   I received a brand new credit card the Friday prior to my visit and Mai Thai was the first place I visited with it and it was the only place where my card left my sight.  I have now had charges to multiple businesses online since then. ($200 to AT&T and $48 to Uber Eats. 2 business I have never used in my life) The waitress took a very long time to get my credit card back and it was suspicious. The service at this establishment is so horrendous I really believe they do not care one bit about the patrons. This place is slipping and it is showing. After being seated for 15 minutes and zero service our server walked over never looked up from his notepad and said "what do you want" I said well we would like to start with some drinks. to which he responded. the bar is closed the liquor license got taken away ????? At this and the zero care we just got up and left and went to Ponzu. when we were leaving a couple by the door the lady said ok we should do what they are doing and leave too. The first time I went there... I hated it. Decided to give it another try. The fried rice was so good while it was hot. As I kept eating more and as it cooled... I could taste an artificial flavor that I did not like. Besides, fried rice should be inexpensive but this was $16. The beef salad was pretty good... but I can go to other restaurants for the beef salard for a lower cost. Cashew chicken... super artificial flavor. The presentation of the food is very nice... only if the flavors could score high points like the food presentation. Decor is trendy... but not a warm feeling place to relax. Service was the best... Mai Thai has a great location but this it the second time my wife and I have had issues with the restaurant. Service is average at best, after you are seated you won't see anyone for drinks or questions until they come to take your order. During our last visit both of our dishes were missing one vegetable each (one mushroom, one bean sprouts) which we were not told about. But if you LOVE Akon this is the place for you, Akon was played from the time we sat down until we left. Considering the menu prices I would elsewhere for better options. read more
