I haven't found an enormous amount of Middle Eastern cuisine in Asheville, but this place brought…read morethe vibe. It's small and unassuming in a strip mall in West Asheville. My takeout was ready on time. While the falafel roll still might have been better fresh, I wanted something that I could plausibly eat several hours later on a mountain without a ton of restaurants nearby, and that choice worked out well. Many falafel rolls come with add-ons that I don't like, but the pickled turnip offering here was both flavorful and colorful. I also got their fries, drizzles with tahini and parsley, which is a good way to eat fries. A case of baked goods and a small market section of canned items were also available. There was certainly space to eat inside or out for someone without my travel schedule. It's also notable that in addition to the usual falafel, they offer ample vegan options as befits the Asheville community, including a house seitan and some other vegetable and fake meat options. I was happy with what I got, but the choice is always appreciated.

I have had falafel in various places all over the country and in Europe and this is in my top two! The Falafel is excellent, the portions are large and everything I have tried at Gypsy Queen has been delicious. I've brought several friends to the restaurant and they have all loved it. Gypsy Queen is one of my go-to places whenever I'm in Asheville. I live in Barnardsville and sometimes I go down there just to have some falafel. Try it for yourself!

Since we got there so early, we had ordered from their cafe and their lattes were nice to sip on while walking through their edible garden! I really liked our server, a ginger man, very kind and quirky and it felt personable which I enjoy, he told us about being a Michelin recommended and I'm glad to have experienced it! For starter, I got the smoked salmon hash, and that was filling enough and very fresh! I had ordered their Philly cheese steak with auju and it was sooooo filling, I love a hearty breakfast, but I could only finish one half. I ordered their local sausage patty and it was nice and Smokey and savory! The grits were chunky and cheesy which I really enjoyed, everything was great! Love it! My partner ordered a classic breakfast and their maple bacon is sooooooooo good, I told him he needed to learn to make it because I want more! Their fruits seemed home grown and I really appreciate their decor of sexy veggies on the way! Such a cool place to eat and hang out!

Cracker Barrel would have been a step up. Haven't been to this hipster, that has turned into more of a tourist trap breakfast cafe in years and probably won't go back anytime soon. Salad was basically a lettuce mix with nothing else? Added shrimp was ok. I guess a restaurant can cruise on a reputation that they once had for awhile(?) until folks realize it's just not that same restaurant anymore. Still a cute venue. Bottom line an overpriced mediocre hospital cafeteria meal that could have been a good meal with a little bit of TLC (tender loving care)...

Lot's of eclectic spice and vegetable beers, but the pairings are generally interesting and well done. They also have a few more traditional beer styles, if that's what you're in the mood for. The space is also very nicely done. Plenty of room at the bar. A somewhat dark and muted color tone that created the feel of a slightly rustic and understated space. I liked it. In terms of food, I ordered a mediterranean bowl and was pretty happy with it. Reasonably well presented. Some evidence of investing effort in creating an individualized concept. The ingredients were also very fresh. The toppings also fell within a reasonable balance. It wasn't overwhelming. It wasn't the best salad of this type that I've had, but it made for something crisp and fresh to pair with a pint. All that having been said, my suggestion would be to go for the beer. If you want to order food alongside your beer, that's secondary.

The inside had plenty of seating while the outdoor patio was perfect for dogs and getting some sun. Wicked Weed was highly recommended by locals and visitors alike. They have a good selection of beers including pre-organized flights and the food was really good as well - I enjoyed the steakhouse burger. Worth a visit for beer, food, and just an overall friendly and welcoming environment.

We each got a different type of taco so we could share the diversity between the menu. I personally like the Korean taco the most. There's a mouthful of flavors within literally just one bite. We also have to talk about their queso. Good gravy that queso was absolutely divine and the they give you PLENTY of it for what you pay for. The chips are nice and crunchy as well! The margaritas they do not skimp out on as far as alcohol goes. Heck I don't drink too much but after just one margarita I was feeling lightly buzzed! You have to try out this place. The place is decorated pretty nice too. They have brightly painted mural looking artwork all around the place. There are maybe 6-8 booths inside along with patio seating outside. It was around $30 for two people who got a drink and a taco each along with a side of queso and chips to split. So really not too bad at all!!

I ordered two tacos, the Bangkok shrimp & the BBQ carnitas. These tacos failed to impress and had the strangest flavors. I should have been a bit more skeptical when I saw there were not any traditional taco options on the menu. I think the best part of our meal were the chips and salsa. (However, I'm a firm believer taco shops should offer free chips and salsa like restaurants offer bread but I digress). The location on the river was nice and I believe I remember seeing them offer cornhole. The location is a great spot to get some fresh air and bring a big group. Unfortunately I don't see myself returning and would not recommend this spot if you are craving tacos.
