I can't even describe how mad I was, standing at the counter with 10 family members for a birthday party that was somehow lost. The girls at the front desk were busy laughing and dancing around while we all stood there waiting for help. It took a half hour for them to work it out and get us on our lanes, but it's okay because they so generously added 30 minutes to our time...as if that time wasn't mine to begin with. The whole process was unorganized, unprofessional, and embarrassing. The server dropped off two pizzas with no plates, no napkins, and no eye contact. Just a bunch of amateurs working there. We went there this afternoon and our waiter was horrible. Waited 20 mins for waters, another 20 mins (after the pizza was served) for plates and napkins. Our appetizer was served with our dinner. The runner whom brought out our food was rude. The chicken and waffles was a joke. We sent it back and ordered a burger which was delicious. I think management really needs to work with their staff in training them especially when you're in the food area. This place has great potential but really need to fix their customer service issues. On a side note the woman behind us had a party for her daughter and also had several issues. The food being served while guests were trying to find a place to sit. The hostess sat people at the tables needed for the party. It was very disorganized. We spoke to the manager Dion and he was very nice and welcomed the feedback. We may give this place another try in hopes of improvement. The staff out side of the restaurant is very nice. But beware even though you pay for unlimited pass you still have to pay for bowling shoes. The games are very stingy with their tickets. We were in line more than half an hour (with only one person in front of us) for the pool balls when there were 4 open tables. read more

I was impressed by this place. Having just moved from San Diego to ABQ I'm used to the main stream Dave and Buster complex. The Main event has a massive complex with Laser tag, a crazy looking suspended bridge system that looks like something out of American gladiators, and a good selection of new games and oh yea a freaking bowling alley. Th food is good as well and enough room for a good college football viewing party. Only complaint is that the games were a bit pricey but a $35 card lasted my fiancée and I a solid hour of fun. In my opinion this place is way better than DnB's. Will definitely repeat! read more

I'm feeling like three stars is a little generous, but I can't think of a good reason to besmirch this behemoth. Thus far, however, the rating on this place -- and the reviews that tell the tale -- are spot on. Before I relate what we encountered, though, I have to state that Main Event is the kind of business that inevitably arrives when a city like Albuquerque goes through puberty. For years, this little metro has enjoyed relatively sleepy family activities offered at locally-based parks like (Uncle) Cliff's and Hinkle Family Fun Center. Putt putt golf. Roller skating. Over the last few years, however, the Duke City's voice has been cracking, hair has been growing out of some heretofore smooth crevices, and we passed the driver's exam. Thus, Dave & Buster's landed in Uptown last year, and ABQ got its first hey-kids-go-play-video-games-daddy-and-mommy-are-drinking-and-driving-tonight locale. It was a big hit. So was our first Cheesecake Factory, apparently. Cheddars, for whatever reason. Feeling the pressure, Hinkle is now applying for a liquor license. Albuquerque, for better or often worse, is growing up. And naturally, when you visit a business like Main Event you simply feel as if you could be anywhere -- it doesn't appear locally owned or managed and the disinterested teenage employees who randomly gather to go through the motions of do-si-doeing Cotton Eye Joe, because Corporate has instructed them to, seem empty, soulless. I didn't see any local beer on the drink menu -- maybe I missed something -- but I didn't feel like having a drink, anyway. There's something very disconnected, almost offensive, about the idea of a three-hour wait to get a bowling lane just so you and your crew can stare at huge TV screens playing old pop music videos and shout over the clubbish decibel levels. Strangely, even the pizza operation was a mistake, a 30-plus minute wait for a slice of the wrong toppings from a guy who seriously needed to taste the rainbow. This is what suburban American life has always looked like, actually, yet somehow this experience landed smack dab in the center of this city. I'll take a worn out, outdated bowling alley over this every time. That said, if you're dead set on lulling away a few hours around here, check this out: buy a $13 all-you-can-play game card, it's good for THREE HOURS, and the skee-ball, zombie first-person shooters and armageddon gaming are totally worth it. Just had my sons birthday party there and we had a blast. Our host Marisol was freaking amazing. With her attention to detail nothing was missed. It was a bit pricey, but my son is worth every penny! Great for a work party! We had so much fun at Main Event! Our party was booked for four hours which included catered BBQ, bowling, laser tag, and games. We had most of the venue to ourselves since it wasn't quite busy yet, so that made it even better. Drew was the gentleman who took care of our group (about twenty of us). He was attentive and quick, replenished drinks, and directed us to different areas. Clean, sparkly restrooms. Nice, strong cocktails at the bar too. Good beer selection, if you're into that. We had a good time; I hardly see why you wouldn't either. Main Event was cool. read more

Aweful service. Charged me $102 for 3 beers. Came in person to resolve the issue and they told me they'll get back to me in a couple days. I said I'd wait and the managers response was that I could wait as long as I want but that they would get to it when they get to it. The place is overpriced as is. The staff are a bunch of lazy teens that do not care about customer satisfaction. I was there earlier playing billiards then ordered dessert. I got the donut holes and it took the employees almost half an hour to make donut holes. I asked an employee twice about my order and they just responded with "let me check" and never came back to me. When I finally got my order the employee didn't even apologize for the wait. Then when I opened the box I come to see there's only 6 donut holes in the box. And they tasted terrible as if they had rushed them and the dough tasted raw-ish. I speculated that they just didn't care about my order until the second time I asked and then the cook did it in a hurry. I would never recommend this place to any friends. And never return. Main Event is like Chucky Cheese but for adults. Place is way bigger than Dave and Busters and IMO way better and more open. This place is also great for the kids and overall a great place for everyone in the family. Arcade games range all over the place for age groups, Lazer Tag was fun and somewhat big, Bowling Alleys are modern and updated unlike the other bowling alleys around ABQ, Pool Tables and shuffle boards are next to the bar which makes it convenient to grab a refill. I didn't get around to trying their food or the ropes. For all the parents out there I highly recommend going to Main Event instead of the over crowded Chucky cheese and Peter Piper joints. read more

This is my favorite Indoor activity place in Albuquerque . I've yet to be disappointed and I hope it continues that way . I love the deal days on Mondays because of the prices for the unlimited activities you can do . It's a great place to go as a pre teen and above . I wouldn't suggest taking a child their on a weekend . The weekdays are more calm and not as overwhelming for parents when looking for their kids . Bowling is probably my favorite because you can eat , drink and bowl . All and all I think this place is great . read more

It was cool until the server ripped us off on the bill in the bowling alley. Fries showed a couple bucks, we were charged double. Asked why it was more, saw the receipt which showed onion rings, she said they were the same idk if she cheated us or if it was more but the prices on the menu need to be updated then if they are more. read more

Great concept. Poorly managed. Nothing like waiting 15 minutes for an attraction that has no line. Also what is the front desk for? You have to wait in line for tickets at the crowded gift shop desk for tickets when the front desk is just baron. Don't get me started on the poor bowling concept. I almost never leave 1 star reviews. We went to play shuffle board ($8 and change a half hour, which is high anyway) and even though I set a timer for 28 minutes, when we paid they insisted we played 45 minutes, which is pretty much not possible. Talked to a manager, no help. Prices are outrageous, there was an impossible wait for bowling, it's loud and obnoxious, drinks and food are crazy priced. Overall it's a 3 at best, but knowing all that we went and got cheated. Never again. read more

Let me start by saying if I could give this place no stars I would. It's new years eve probably one of you busiest times of the year I will give Main Event that. But when we walked in the greeter was rude about our reservations so we went to go pay for our unlimited play pass please keep in mind we paid 126.00 bucks when we went back to speak with him about our reservations he said "I don't know I'm off" so we went back in line to get reserved for bowling we were told we would have to wait 2 hours. So we played some arcade games shot some pool and ate. It's about 11:00pm we made our reservations about 8:00pm so about 2 hours has passed so we went up there asked about reservations and they said "oh you have 9 people ahead of you" and we were perplexed. We decided to grab some drinks at the bar there was only one bar tender we waited 20 minutes to get our drink orders in. So we decided to go back up to ask about our reservations luckily we got the manager and he would let us bowl but for less then an hour before closing and the lane we got was malfunctioning. Main Event has Great potential to be an awesome place but I think they need to have more employees on hand to back up the crowd they receive on this particular night. read more

The service is so slow primarily because not enough staff. The food is just ok. We may return to play but definitely not to eat again. Salad had several inedible pieces and the fish dish was fine. Pizza was low end and no cheese. Best part of the dinner was the warm skillet cookie. Really cool concept, but a total cluster of madness. I visited this location on a Friday evening around 9:30 for a friend's birthday celebration. We had one waiter who was serving a large group of people, about 25-30, and I really think the poor guy could have used some assistance. He was very polite and tried his best, but drink refills were scarce and we often ending up going to the bar to get refills on soft drinks, water, and alcoholic beverages. The food orders were done in small groupings, so those of us at the end of the table ending up ordering and eating our food 30 minutes to an hour after the people at the head of table. I am pregnant so I didn't partake in any of the alcoholic beverages, but it looked like they had a really extensive cocktail menu with tons of "girl drinks." I opted for water and a few appetizers to share. I was most excited to try out the onion rings, they were singing their siren song to me, but I found them disappointing. They were hot and crunchy, but breaded rather than battered so not quite up to my rigorous onion ring standards. If you like breaded onion rings give them a try, but if you're in the battered is better club--best to avoid. I thought the dipping sauces were subpar as well. I normally love remoulade, but theirs was so vinegar laden that it wasn't enjoyable. The ranch was "meh." I had a slice of pepperoni pizza that was ordered for the table and thought it was good, surprisingly good. I think I'll stick with pizza next time I am there. Once everyone had finished eating we made our way to the laser tag arena. I thought it was a little pricey--- $9 a round for a 10 minute game. I had fun, but I think they should reconsider the pricing. I'd be more likely to play multiple rounds if it cost a little less. I lucked out, but 6 people in my group had equipment that didn't work and there weren't any spare gun/vest combos so they were given rain checks for the next round. I think it's great that they made it right, but it seems like they should have spares on hand and should do more routine maintenance. This is my personal hang-up about places like Main Event and Dave and Busters, but there should be more adult only hours available. Kids have tons of arcades and entertainment venues that are designed to entertain and delight, so maybe, just maybe, let the adults have some time to themselves after 10. To me, it just seems odd that primary school aged children are out at midnight navigating through a sea of drunks to play skeeball. Maybe I am old fashioned, but it just doesn't seem like 8 year olds should be out enjoying the night life largely unsupervised. read more

Such a fun evening playing games and bowling. Large group of us had dinner, played a few games of pool, played games and bowled. Main Event is very upscale inside which I didn't expect for Albuquerque. Large open space with pool tables, games area, rope are to climb above the games area, laser tag and bowling. They also have a restaurant and bar area. So much space and great for groups and families to have a nice time together. Service was great with our food and drinks. The games area is my favorite, so many cool ones and the game prices are fair. read more

My wife and I are visiting from out of town and wanted to do some weekday bowling. We were pleasantly surprised by this place. The lanes are good, they have table service for food and beverage right where you sit (unusual in our experience for a bowling alley), and the selection of balls was the best we've ever seen. All of the staff were very nice, and we had the bonus of playing some other games after bowling. While we were only one of four lanes being used when we got there (1pm on a Friday), all of the lanes were taken when we left, so it's probably a good idea to call ahead to see if there are open lanes before you go. And When I say we received the worst service that's an understatement, I will definitely not be going to back nor will I ever recommend Main Event to any friends or family. We had our son's birthday party here and we probably will never have it here again. First off it was very expensive for what you get. Second, the service was absolutely horrible and wait staff had attitudes if we asked them to do their job. Third, we were rushed on all of the activities, we couldn't even finish our bowling game before they told us we had to stop playing and head over to another activity. I give Main Event 1 of 5 stars because our experience there today was terrible. A fire alarm was pulled and the power went out. We were assured it would turn back on in 10 minutes but it didn't! The line to get a refund was moving so slow, we decided to leave. Besides that, I ordered the Mac and Cheese and it was a tiny portion (maybe 8oz) for $10. It wasn't enough. I came here a couple of times to play the games and try the food. The games are a lot better than D&B but their selection is very small. There is bowling, laser tag, pool, and so much more which can explain why they have to have a small section to fit everything else in the place. I recently had my 21st birthday here but they do not allow paper ID sadly, which is understandable because they are new. What the kind manager did do for me was give me two 1.5 hour of game play for free! The food here is really delicious but more on the oily side, best for when drinking. The party actually started at RickieLee's desk, my event coordinator. She was awesome! her fun energetic attitude was contagious. Oscar and David our event personnel were very informative,organized and helpful with everything my guests needed. During this entire event both Oscar and David were right hand personnel to myself and my guests, offering SUPERB service the entire night. Mike D. our banquet room organizer was AWESOME!. Mike D. prepared my event menu to order and went over and beyond with providing personal requests "bar orders"to each of my guests the entire event time. On behalf of myself and my guests, Main Event staff gave 200% of themselves engraving a memorable experience, we all loved and providing SUPERB services from the beginning. Cool idea, games and bowling are fun but I would only come for the games and bowling. The food was old and cold, service was absolutely terrible. I've literally had better service and at least a smile from McDonalds drive thru employees. I ordered dominoes instead and had them deliver to here so I could get some enjoyable food with still better customer service skills from a dominoes delivery driver than the service at The Main Event. All in all games were decent but overpriced and would much rather go to Dave and Busters anytime than here, so if you're looking for a way to have a free night out to get free food to compensate for terrible service the Main Event is the way to go other than that save your time, energy and patience and go to Dave and Busters instead. read more

Came here with my boyfriend to have some fun. Food and drink was good but pricey. Fun was in excess to be had especially with video games and ropes course. These are also pricey. I recommend going in when you have some extra money to blow for the nice experience. There are other places less pricey like Hinkle and any bowling alley, but are not as nice however, so it's a trade. read more

I was pretty disappointed in Main Event in that when you spend $40 per kid/person to get the unlimited wristbands you actually can't do everything. It's really expensive and if you want to play the cool games, it's extra. I took my son and his friend and spent $80 so they could get the unlimited play wristbands and they couldn't even play the games they wanted to. Plus when you buy an unlimited activity wristband you still have to go wait in line and sign up for activities. In my opinion Main Event is way overpriced for what you actually get. read more

Stopped by to check this place out...the service was terrible..the staff is so lost..took 20 minutes to just get a damn beer..then another ten to get a glass because the beer they said was on draft actually only comes in a bottle..no one asked if we wanted another drink..just asked us to cash out our check..I think the guy we were not ready to leave yet and he said he had to go so he had to close the check..the place looks nice but service was the worst ever..will make sure I tell all my peeps about how awful the service was!. My only complaint is that you will have to wait in line for 10-15 minutes even if you arrive when they open. However, Once you pay, prepare to have major fun! I'd recommend going earlier on Saturday and doing the early bird special. You can bowl for about 2 hours without any interruption or waiting. There are staff members available to take your drink orders and assist with any questions you have. The early bird special also gives you access to the ropes and the laser tag without extra charge. The place got more crowded on a Saturday, and by around noon, all the bowling lanes were full and you had to sign a wait-list in order to bowl. Get there early and enjoy yourself. read more
