Stopped by the Main Event to see our new addition for family entertainment. Our Main Event is a smaller one than some other cities. Bowling, pool, arcade, laser tag and Gravity, but no climbing wall or miniature golf. Still a good addition for family fun, more family friendly than D&B. However, food service requires some work. We had an order of loaded tater tots which was served without the bacon bits. We pointed this out to our server and she apologized and brought us a small cup of bacon. Problem was the bacon was practically raw. I mean really raw, see the picture. So, we passed on an entree and went off to find something to eat, preferably cooked. So on the fun factor it's a 5 star all the way. Bowling/food/bar/ropes course/laser tag/video games how can it not be fun. We went on a Monday night and they have a special (starts at 4pm) where you can do unlimited everything except video games. Great deal for only $10 - but you do need to pay for shoes so don't forget to factor that into the price. Or for $10 you can do unlimited video games - no tokens or tickets but amazing value. So why 3 stars? The lack of communication and total confusion. So you purchase the package at the front, they give you a cool wrist band and you figure sweet just go stand in line! WRONG! You have to sign up for all the activities - not a huge deal but when you don't know about this and find out from super nice people as you wait in line you kind of feel a little baffled. Ok so go sign up for stuff not as easy as it sounds, there are different sign up locations for each activity ugh!!! So if you want to sign up for laser tag or the rope climb go to the game prize area. To sign up for bowling you go back to the line where you got and paid for your band. Be sure to pay for your shoes during this time. Bowling gives you a buzzer to let you know when it's ready. Bowling has a 1 hour limit after that you have to sign up again so make sure you are on top of your fellow bowlers. Laser Tag fun two levels lasted a good amount of time too I'd do it again, you select the time, they give you a ticket (sorta like fast pass at Disney) I didn't try the rope course but my family did and they loved it. I highly recommend doing the $10 for unlimited video games. A couple friends of ours did that and that came in handy in between all the waiting. Tons of great games too! So would I go back? Sure but it would have to be on a Monday again otherwise I can see it adding up fast and getting expensive. Now that I know how the system works I know what to expect. Brought my nephew for auntie fun day. We did the summer fun pass for $12.95, which lets you bowl, play pool, laser tag, the gravity course and shuffleboard. We played about 8 games of laser tag plus bowled and played pool. We arrived at 9:30 an on a Sunday. It was really quiet and we easily got a bowling lane. By about 12:30, it really picked up, with wait lists to bowl and about 15 minutes wait to play laser tag. We also had lunch in the main restaurant. They do have gluten free pizza, which is handy. It was alright, pretty standard chain fare. I was worried about the service based on prior reviews, but they seem to have gotten it together because almost everyone has been pretty nice. The music is pretty loud, but the kids are way louder. Even with the summer pass, buy the time we rented shoes and ate lunch, we were in for about $60. read more

I come to main event every week. Well today I order the chicken tenders and fries cause that's my favorite. Well today it was not good. One of the pieces looked like someone took a bite. So I called the greeter Peter over and let him know. He called a manager over and they fixed it asap. Peter even brought my new order back to me. What a joke of a place. The staff needs to be trained. We felt as though NONE of the employees knew anything. Even just purchasing our tickets I had to wait for 20 min for an employee to see me and then another 5 while they went to find someone else to help me. The restaurant was disgusting and WAY overpriced. The service was nonexistent. So after paying over $100 for the three of us for 2 hours I will say it's not worth the time or money. The idea spot for little booze and gaming in Albuquerque, right? Wrong. I've been twice and both times have been left with no desire to return and I won't be now. Our recent experience tonight was so underwhelming. We had a large table to eat and have drinks before we hit up the games. From the minute we were seated, the servers did not want to serve us and it showed in their attitude and lack of enthusiasm. Not one smile, no "how is everyone tonight?!" I mean NOTHING. The server took our drink orders, took 10-15 mins to arrive and then took our food orders. We ordered some appetizers and I am dead serious when I say it took over an hour to get our food. And they were by no means busy. Never did the servers offer an explanation or apology. I understand a busy kitchen or getting behind however the lack of customer service or even just common pleasantries is unacceptable. We spoke to the manager after who gave us some game cards on the house which was appreciated, but we will not return. Each game costs 1.50-2.50 per try which is ridiculously expensive. Came by at lunch, for a corporate event. We reserved one of the rooms for an hour so the group could all eat and discuss a few things. The music that is pumped into the building is also pumped into the private rooms. This means, recognition and awards were handed out to music designed for dumb high school girls. Whoever was speaking during our corporate event had to do so louder than Rihanna's garbage Diamond song. Our event came with Pizza and a Caesar Salad. The Caesar Salad was actually pretty good, although, I have not had many terrible Caesars. The pizza was very middle of the road. I looked at the menu and it was nowhere worth the $17 they want for a 16-Inch, but I have had worse pizza. The bar looked well stocked, and the bowling alley looked amazing. I could definitely see myself coming back for some drinks, and bowling. Another perk was how open this place is, it is gigantic and offers a lot of elbow room (Except to shoot pool). I would like to see some better beer choices, you are in Albuquerque and there are a ton of great breweries around. They carried two Santa Fe Brewing beers (Happy Camper and something else), but it would be nice to see some more amazing local choices on tap. We had an opportunity to play laser tag. The laser tag area was very well designed with two floors and everyone in our group came out with a big grin on their faces. It took about 45 min to get a beer ordered, since the waitress forgot about it and never received a few other items. When inquiring about games and times for playing we were given times for next session however when we went to pay/reserve the game times we were told the time wasn't for another 2 hrs. We were rushed from activity to activity, sometimes not even being able to finish the one we were currently on. The girl who was helping us couldn't have been less helpful, and didn't care at all about what we needed. I saved up a lot of points and gained a lot of points through the sponge bob game which broke down so many times. i collected so many points i decided to get Dr Dre beats from the points store and when i got home and opened them they were fake beats. It's large and has the following inside: *Bar/Restaurant - got the Breezy Mojito and Peach/Mango LIT (both were excellent and not too sweet!) *Pizza by the slice - got a slice of pepperoni that was warming in the window (slice was way overpriced at $5 for a piece that was 40% crust and nothing to write home about) *Arcade - Rather pricey at $1-1.75/game, has nearly all the same games as Dave & Buster's *Laser Tag - We had a blast in here, though watch out because those kids play dirty! I can't even describe how mad I was, standing at the counter with 10 family members for a birthday party that was somehow lost. The girls at the front desk were busy laughing and dancing around while we all stood there waiting for help. It took a half hour for them to work it out and get us on our lanes, but it's okay because they so generously added 30 minutes to our time...as if that time wasn't mine to begin with. I was impressed by this place. Having just moved from San Diego to ABQ I'm used to the main stream Dave and Buster complex. The Main event has a massive complex with Laser tag, a crazy looking suspended bridge system that looks like something out of American gladiators, and a good selection of new games and oh yea a freaking bowling alley. Th food is good as well and enough room for a good college football viewing party. Only complaint is that the games were a bit pricey but a $35 card lasted my fiancée and I a solid hour of fun. In my opinion this place is way better than DnB's. Will definitely repeat! read more

I'm feeling like three stars is a little generous, but I can't think of a good reason to besmirch this behemoth. Thus far, however, the rating on this place -- and the reviews that tell the tale -- are spot on. Before I relate what we encountered, though, I have to state that Main Event is the kind of business that inevitably arrives when a city like Albuquerque goes through puberty. For years, this little metro has enjoyed relatively sleepy family activities offered at locally-based parks like (Uncle) Cliff's and Hinkle Family Fun Center. Putt putt golf. Roller skating. Over the last few years, however, the Duke City's voice has been cracking, hair has been growing out of some heretofore smooth crevices, and we passed the driver's exam. Thus, Dave & Buster's landed in Uptown last year, and ABQ got its first hey-kids-go-play-video-games-daddy-and-mommy-are-drinking-and-driving-tonight locale. It was a big hit. So was our first Cheesecake Factory, apparently. Cheddars, for whatever reason. Feeling the pressure, Hinkle is now applying for a liquor license. Albuquerque, for better or often worse, is growing up. And naturally, when you visit a business like Main Event you simply feel as if you could be anywhere -- it doesn't appear locally owned or managed and the disinterested teenage employees who randomly gather to go through the motions of do-si-doeing Cotton Eye Joe, because Corporate has instructed them to, seem empty, soulless. I didn't see any local beer on the drink menu -- maybe I missed something -- but I didn't feel like having a drink, anyway. There's something very disconnected, almost offensive, about the idea of a three-hour wait to get a bowling lane just so you and your crew can stare at huge TV screens playing old pop music videos and shout over the clubbish decibel levels. Strangely, even the pizza operation was a mistake, a 30-plus minute wait for a slice of the wrong toppings from a guy who seriously needed to taste the rainbow. This is what suburban American life has always looked like, actually, yet somehow this experience landed smack dab in the center of this city. I'll take a worn out, outdated bowling alley over this every time. That said, if you're dead set on lulling away a few hours around here, check this out: buy a $13 all-you-can-play game card, it's good for THREE HOURS, and the skee-ball, zombie first-person shooters and armageddon gaming are totally worth it. We went there this afternoon and our waiter was horrible. Waited 20 mins for waters, another 20 mins (after the pizza was served) for plates and napkins. Our appetizer was served with our dinner. The runner whom brought out our food was rude. The chicken and waffles was a joke. We sent it back and ordered a burger which was delicious. I think management really needs to work with their staff in training them especially when you're in the food area. This place has great potential but really need to fix their customer service issues. On a side note the woman behind us had a party for her daughter and also had several issues. The food being served while guests were trying to find a place to sit. The hostess sat people at the tables needed for the party. It was very disorganized. We spoke to the manager Dion and he was very nice and welcomed the feedback. We may give this place another try in hopes of improvement. The staff out side of the restaurant is very nice. But beware even though you pay for unlimited pass you still have to pay for bowling shoes. The games are very stingy with their tickets. We were in line more than half an hour (with only one person in front of us) for the pool balls when there were 4 open tables. read more
