Well my goal wasn't to come to Main Event to spend my weekend, but my fourteen year old niece came into town. I had to be quick on my feet to figure a fun weekend, so I decided on Main Event. We went fairly early (around 3pm) to avoid any huge crowds. When we got there the line was pretty short and the place was not overcrowded which was nice. There was also a sign outside stating that everyone must have a mask on which was comforting. They had a pretty good deal for $19.99 to do unlimited bowling and laser tag. Even though we only did one round of bowling and laser tag, I believe if you're trying to play the whole day the value of the unlimited pass is worth it. When we got our tickets, the estimated time for bowling was 45 minutes due to certain lanes being closed due to social distancing. We decided to get some food in the eating area, but our lane was ready within 15 minutes instead of the estimated 45 minutes which was a plus. I'll say this is a preteen/young teen ideal fun time. I came here the other weekend after a bunch of hype from my work friends. We met up to grab some grub before we had fun! We started the night with some drinks. I ordered the triple strawberry margarita and it was DELICIOUS! I would definitely order it again! It had a good balance of alcohol and fruit. For food we ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger and chicken fingers. The burger was cooked to perfection and was topped with bacon, cheese, onion rings and BBQ sauce. IT. WAS. AMAZING. Epic Fail - My wife attempted to purchase bowling via Main Event web site and it continued to crash. She called and was told there was a web site issue. She was also told she could not purchase over the phone. So she went to Main Event. She wanted to reserve bowling for our teen daughter and a group of friends. They offered her a package that included bowling and laser tag. My wife made the purchase and was given a receipt - just have your daughter present this receipt and she will be put on list for next available bowling lanes. They can play laser tag while waiting. Fast forward to night time - my daughter and friends arrive - wait in line - present receipt and experienced the most RUDE, unprofessional employee possible who literally threw the receipt back at my daughter saying it was not valid. She was not interested in helping in anyway shape or form. My daughter called my wife ... she jumped in the car and went to Main Event to help sort it out. She waited in line with the receipt - saw the SAME girl that sold it to her - guess what? Now it's valid?!?!?? They were put on waitlist for bowling - 8pm lanes. In the end, they got 9pm lanes. We were looking to get out of the house and the heat and it was dinner time, so Main Event it was. I've never been to a Main Event, but figured it was going to be similar to another competitor in the area. I was wrong. Yes, you heard me correctly, I said I was wrong. We decided to eat first, which is a huge crapshoot with a toddler (the situation could have gone one of two ways: extremely well or it could have gone south quickly). Luckily the situation went well. I looked over their menu and nothing was really calling out to me, but because I wanted to attempt to be healthy, both my husband and I ordered a cob salad and they had a promotion that you received a $10 game card to play in the arcade area after dinner with select meals on their menu. Our salads came out and this was a ginormous salad. We could have ordered one and split it. There was no way I'd be able to eat this entire salad or even half. I was right. I ate probably a third of it. After we ate we headed to play some games. Let me preface this with their prices seem pretty high, but this is because we recently brought Nugget to Chuckie Cheese and their prices seem overly low. Met up with some friends here so the kiddos can play on the arcades. The two machine next to the entrance did not have any cards so we stood in line to purchase a game card. There was one employee tending to customers while 4 others were just hanging out behind the counter. 15+ minutes later we finally purchased the card and off we went. Come to find out there's additional machines where you can purchase or reload your card between the bowling and where we stood in line. Each game is about 7+ credits with the exception of the VR and Thypoon which is a lot more. A couple of the games took the card and deducted the credit but did not work. They have a self serve fountain machine but was out of Pepsi. The root beer and ginger ale were both flat. Plenty of arcades here though. read more

One of the only places in Jax with a shuffleboard table, which is the ONLY reason I subject myself to this place. The shuffleboard table is never taken care of, people set drinks on it, no sand, etc.. Nobody in the establishment seems to know where the extra sand canister is kept so that the table can be re-sanded. If i could give 0 stars i would. I feel like we were not given what was promised to us. I dont think that the experience was at all good. We had the room for an hour. Which the lady gave us 15 more minutes then the 15 minutes they said because we were trying to decorate. The lady did help decorate and stuff, but we did feel rushed. We had to walk from half the parking lot to the room and back and half way decorate which made us waste majority of our decorations. The lady i booked the room with said we can bring drinks in. And i believe on the paper it said unlimited drinks in the package of 10 for 10 kids and if there wasnt 10 kids we can use the adults. When i told the host that she said no. I immediately was pissed. Because this wasnt worth $500. There wasnt enough games either, everybody was coughing, standing, standing in line for games, breathing over the person who was playings shoulder. The bathroom was DISGUSTING, there was no paper towels, toilet paper and soap in most of the stalls and sink. Toilet paper all over the ground. I waited about 10 minutes to buy water from the counter and they charged me $7.50 for 2 Zephyrhills water bottle. I was upset. We couldnt even walk out of the rooms because there was soo much people blocking the area to get in it. And once that hour was done we had to rush to take our things out in front and then take them to the car. Like i WOULD NEVER recommend this for anybody. The bartender asked me twice what my order was and then still poured one of the beers incorrectly. I was just a little too frustrated to say anything because it would probably have taken another 15 min to get it corrected. And let's face it Mondays need a pick-me-up! This was my first time and I had a blast! My friends and I started off with bowling. We were a little competitive but were mostly there to have a good time. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and a Sam Adams summer draft. The quesadilla was delicious with peppers and onions and all the fixin's. The only thing missing was sour cream on the side. Our server did a descent job with our large group. We visited this place when they opened on a Sunday. It was perfect- not too busy. We bowled, played in the arcade, and snacked. The food was great and the cotton candy Shirley temple was the coolest, sugar overload of a kids drink. It was a hit with the kids of all ages. My company proclaimed that we were having our Christmas party here and I wasn't that excited about it based on what I had heard. I really loved Latitude 360 and pretty much felt that anything that replaced it would be crap. I was wrong. Upon walking in you can easily tell what structures were kept and what was gone. Our group had a private room in the area where the movie theatre and comedy club used to be. It's nice and secluded with it's jumbo tv stuck on football and automatic glass garage door. The best part is that it was right next to the laser tag room. The younger coworkers and myself decided to play a game while we waited on our food to arrive. The food arrived when we got back and just in time because be were insanely hungry by then. We ordered their "BBQ" package which consisted of chicken breast, ribs, sausage, baked beans, coleslaw, green beans, garden salad with cookies for dessert for 1 hour. As a whole the food was good. The chicken breast was dry even in their weak sauce, the ribs were ok, but the sausage was really good. The cookies which were macadamia nut, oatmeal raisin, and chocolate chip came out warm and gooey so that helped. The arcade was fun, lotsa games you'd see at Dave & Busters but not as many due to space limitations. Had a good time playing the giant Space Invaders, even winning the 250 bonus. When trying to order the additional food for the guests, she came back and I was told there were only 2 people in the kitchen and they could only fulfill pizza orders... 2 people in the kitchen on a busy Sunday? It would have been nice to know this in advance so we didn't go through the entire process of ordering only to be told the kitchen "won't make" boneless wings. You are out of several menu items. Our children ordered drinks, and they didn't arrive until 45 minutes into play. Your bathroom facilities were absolutely terrible and could smell them from our lanes. There are several employees standing around chatting while all of this is happening. It seems your facilities are poorly run and this was a disappointment to say the least. It's pretty insane to see literally any positive reviews of this place on Yelp. And honestly, in a day like today when we have so many options of how to spend money and for most people, money is tight, I wouldn't spend your money here. Pluses were that bowling was modern and updated. Generally the place felt pretty clean. A few major things left us thinking "man, we had fun but we'll never go back there!" Customer service was the first and ongoing issue. Rung up incorrectly for all play passes. Bought some game cards and one of them wasn't working so we were bounced around three times until we spoke with a manager. Thing is - I get it - some people make mistakes and that's okay. The complete lack of care, kindness, attention to detail, and general interest in their jobs was so hard to overlook. In a place full of games, drinking, and fun - when the staff don't want to be there and are so rude - that messes up the vibe for me and I would imagine for a lot of other people. I'm thinking all of the good reviews on here or their website are from folks being asked to scan the QR at the checkout stations so they can get a 30 minute play pass. Went here for one of my kids birthdays (2 hour time limit). Had an okay experience, not terrible but not great. For the good: 1. Your kids will have a good time. There are arcade games, laser tag, bowling and pizza. For a party you will pay for gaming and a choice of either extra game time, 1 laser tag game or bowling. 2 They provide pizza and unlimited Pepsi products as part of the package (enough for two slices per kid - 14 kids total). 3. They can also redeem points earned at games for gifts in the gift shop. You will also need to bring your own cake (no ice cream cakes). 4. Our two servers that were assigned to our party were really nice and helpful. They took time to explain to the kids which games gave them the most bang for their buck. For the bad: 1. The website is a little confusing and even after we had confirmed that we had reserved unlimited gaming (the difference being unlimited gaming does not accrue points) we were told that we had not so we had to grab every kids card and add more cash (kind of an unexpected expense). 2. The place can be a little busy and depending on the age of your kid or their level of independence you may not want to leave them alone by themselves there. Definitely would not recommend a kids party in the evening as they serve alcohol and the crowd could be a little more unruly. 3. Management is hard to locate and interact with if you have a problem your server cannot fix. 4. Security is pretty lax and people can walk in off the street to hang out in areas where kids are playing. There are plenty of unsupervised areas where someone could exploit a lack of supervision. The bowling alleys are clean and the food is good but there are some deal breakers when it comes to prices. I paid $90 dollars for my son and his friends to play one game of laser tag and they've had better experiences. The laser tag room was not big at all and the guns tend to jam a lot. Some of the arcades don't even work and will take your credits. There solution to this is swiping the game again or swiping another game for you, you don't get the choice of a refund. Teaching summer school and took the kids here today. Great time was had by all!! Customer service was awesome. They met us before we went in and handed out game cards and lunch passes to everyone. I ended up bowling for the majority of the time with a few kids and teachers. We had unlimited bowling and the automated system they use makes it really easy. I had not bowled in a very long time. Lunch was two slices of pizza and a drink. The pizza was pretty good. The games looked fun. I gave my game card to one of my students. Place was clean and organized. Second visit to Main Event in the past 2 weeks. On both occasions, service was adequate (actually a little better than expected!) I had been to Lat 360 several times and always left less than impressed, so I didn't expect much of a difference from Main Event. I was pleasantly surprised to see some of the service issues have been overcome with the new ownership, however, I'd like to see more of a management presence to make sure the ship keeps sailing smoothly. The sheer size of ME lends to areas that don't get as much attention as they should. The first visit was strictly for Laser Tag - they're currently running a $7 Play All Night promotion that's exceptional (one activity per night - Bowling, Laser Tag, Billiards, etc). We went during a weekday and it wasn't too crowded and it was a blast (pun intended)! The equipment was some of the best that I've used and the game room was just big enough to be challenging. The second visit, we came back for the $7 deal, but intended to go bowling. The charge came out a little higher than expected - but to our pleasure included all activities! We had a great time bowling - the lanes were awesome & the group photos on the scoreboard were hilarious (almost as funny as my mad bowling skills). I left since they don't fire you they slowly push you till you snap. They will take you from your position and put you into a new one you will truly dislike then cut your hours dramatically. The only seating is by bowling and in the food area. We asked if grandma could sit for a bit to rest and were given a very direct "you buy food or she doesn't sit. Rules are rules."
