I decided for my birthday this year while in Delaware, I wanted to try Main Event. My husband and I went on a weekday around 11:30am. We were able to get the deal before noon of $14.99 for 50 credits for the arcade, bowling and laser tag all for $14.99! Since it was my bday the employee was nice enough to do something a little special for us! Thanks again! We had a great time playing all of the games, bowling and laser tag. There were no lines and very little people here, which was a plus! 4 stars all around for our overall experience. The guy at the laser tag wasn't available at the time we wanted to play so we had to wait but all in all we had a great time!

The chicken caesar salad pita bread and the burger was definitely amazing. I've never had chicken Caesar salad with boiled egg and it actually made it better. The games were fun had no long lines and me and my day were able to use one game card. Definitely felt like kids again for the night!

This is such a cool place with a lot to offer, especially for multi-generation gatherings. I was invited by my brother who wanted to enjoy celebrating his bday with his children of different ages. We came here on a Sunday evening around 6:30 and the place was busy but we were able to be seated quickly in the dining area and our food came out fairly quick. The food was OK overall - my faves were the dry rub wings (it was suggested that we order them fried hard and we did; great suggestion!!!); my other fave was the spinach artichoke dip - it was so good that we ordered this twice. I had a Shirley Temple to drink, which was good also; a little on the sweet side though. I also ordered a Beyond burger, which came with fries and a side salad (Caesar) - the burger was cooked a little too hard, my fries were cold and the salad was had too much dressing. The garden salad appeared to be the better salad option as it was not served pre-tossed in dressing. We played shuffle board, billiards and a few of the arcade games; we did not bowl because we lost track of time and had to head back home but we all enjoyed ourselves. I would definitely recommend this place for entertainment; again, food is nothing to rave over - except the dry rub wings and the spinach artichoke dip ;-) Oh, the flatbread pizza looked good but I didn't get a chance to sample.

My visit to The Main Event arcade was a mixed bag of excitement and disappointment. The sheer variety of games available was impressive, offering a nostalgic throwback to classic arcade favorites and modern interactive experiences. However, a significant downside was the noticeable number of broken games. On the positive side, the atmosphere was vibrant, with neon lights and lively music setting the perfect gaming mood. The redemption counter added an extra layer of fun, enticing players to try their luck at winning prizes. The ticket system for earning rewards was well-organized and enjoyable, especially for families and groups. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by the numerous broken games scattered throughout the arcade. It was disheartening to find some of my favorites out of order or malfunctioning. I kept a list in no particular order of the broken or malfunctioning games. Tower of tickets Zombie snatcher Dizzy chicken Crazy tower One of the claw machines Gear it up Gold Fishn Spinner frenzy Spaceballz Fishbowl frenzy SpongeBob coin pusher Another drawback was the lack of staff presence to address the broken games promptly. It seemed like there was a lack of attention to maintenance and customer service in this aspect. Despite the setbacks, I did have fun playing the operational games and appreciated the wide selection available. However, I can't help but feel disappointed about the missed potential of The Main Event due to the neglected state of many of its attractions. If they invest in better maintenance and improve their customer service, this arcade could truly become a go-to destination for gamers of all ages.

For $20 per person/ kid, you get access to: 1) billiards 2) laser tag 3) gravity ropes 4) bowling Bowling by itself was priced at $29 which made no sense! Lol For bowling, laser tag, and gravity ropes you have to "reserve" a spot, which was quick and easy to do.. so recommend to book your time first and then plan and spend time in the video game arcade and/ or eating around that. There is a food and arcade game combo pricing - find out more at the "restaurant". The food was decent. Nothing great but not as bad as I expected.

Ask the Community - Main Event Newark

Can you bring your own bowling shoes?

Yes!

How busy are Saturday nights?

If you're playing video games you shouldn't have issues! However if you're going to bowl, I highly recommend booking a reservation online before you go as it does get busy for these activities.

Do they have claw machines (ideally more than just two or three)?

Hey Erica! We sure do :) We also have plenty of awesome prizes in our Winners Choice https://www.mainevent.com/play/video-games

How is this place on a Sunday?

We got there around 7pm it wasn't too busy. The wait time was not bad at all.

I ordered the Bison ribeye with fries and broccoli, after confirming with the waitress the fries were cooked in a dedicated GF fryer. My wife ordered the fork and knife chili burger with half and half onion rings and fries. When the waitress brought out our food (all together) it should have been a red flag, but I missed it. She asked if I wanted any steak sauce and rattled of a few names. I asked for the Heinz 57. When she brought it to the table, I read th ingredients and saw malt vinegar. I flagged her down and told her she could take the Heinz 57 away because it contained gluten. She asked what ingredients contained gluten, so I told her and then had to explain malt is made from barley which contains gluten. She seemed surprised by that, so clearly not knowledgeable. Overall I'd say the service was good, seated right away order was taken promptly and food came out in a reasonable time. The food was okay but all our food was too salty and my medium rare steak was very rare. Nice atmosphere and quiet enough for conversation.

We opted for the zingers and fries - both were very good and we liked the selection of dips. For dinner we had the Shrimp and Blackened Chicken Cobb salad, French dip, and the Rack of Ribs. The salad was fresh and filled with plenty of chicken and shrimp. The French dip was piled high with meat and was very tasty but was a little fatty, and the Rack of Ribs were delicious. Overall, the food was very good. Our server Frank was excellent - always checking on us and clearing plates. The atmosphere was fun, and our son liked the ability to watch the fights on TV.

I never knew "Zingers" were a thing. We all had various versions of dishes with Zingers and different sauces. Mine was a Zingers salad with a spicy peach sauce--perfection. The onion rings were some of the best we have had--not greasy at all, seasoned well, and enough to share. My son had a slice of the legendary ice cream cake for his birthday, and our server brought us spoons to sample it since everyone was too full to order dessert. Would definitely come back.

Subject: Formal Complaint - Unacceptable Staff Conduct and Management Failure…read more To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a deeply troubling experience I had at your Turning Point Restaurant location. What occurred was far below any reasonable standard of customer service and left me feeling unsafe and disrespected. During my visit, a male server verbally accosted me -- using profane language, making threatening remarks, and treating me in a wholly disrespectful manner. This behavior was entirely unprovoked and completely unacceptable in any setting, let alone a dining establishment. What made the situation worse was the response from management. Despite the incident taking place, the manager on duty took no meaningful action to address the situation, offer an apology, or ensure my safety and comfort as a customer. Their inaction sent a clear message that this kind of conduct is tolerated at your restaurant. I am requesting the following: 1. A formal written acknowledgment of this complaint 2. A full investigation into the conduct of the staff member involved 3. Appropriate disciplinary action against both the server and the manager who failed to act 4. A direct response to me outlining the steps taken I sincerely hope Turning Point takes this matter seriously. No customer should ever be subjected to threats or verbal abuse, and no manager should stand by while it happens. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, Kwame

I'm always up for trying new places. Especially when it comes to craft beer. That part was fine. if…read moreyou like craft beer you will find something you like. Still, I'm landing 50/50 on this place. Here's why. For starters other than already knowing it was there and getting a recommendation from someone else, there is no signage. The words Farm A Sea do not appear anywhere that I could see. Not outside. Not even inside. Also the signs outside that have arrows that point to "Restaurant" point towards each other. I drove around the building twice and had to assume that there was an entrance inside the lobby of the hotel somewhere. Also its not kid friendly. Not in that there is any kind of element that is detrimental to kids. They just don't have a specific kids menu. I'm not even sure they have booster seats. We just got lucky that mac & cheese was a dinner special. We ordered our meals and the Pork Belly as an app. After waiting entirely too long for an app to come out our dinners arrived. The waitress forgot to put in the order for the app. Which I asked her to bring anyway. I regretted that later. The mac & cheese was actually really really good. It had some kind of meat, maybe hamburger in it so it was kind of like a helper type deal. The 4 year old liked it, the 9 year old and I finished it off. My oldest had the wings from the app menu. Nice chili sauce. The drums were really good. However the actual wings were really fatty. Fatty to the point of just mush. Or they were undercooked. Not sure which. For my main I had the sausage flat bread. Which was cold. Not room temp. Cold. Especially compared to the mac and the wings. It was also under seasoned. I was willing to forgive all of this had the late app pork belly been good. That was the worst. I have had pork belly many places. I understand its 50% fat, 50% meat. But it should be even with meat on one side and fat on the other. Not 50% meat pieces and 50% fat pieces. Im not even sure they used the right cut of meat. It wasn't even salty or pull apart like the meat should be. If you want to know what Pork Belly should be like... go to 8th & Union in Wilmington and get the fried rice. Awesome. So with that I stand 50/50. This place has no foot traffic and no signage. The location already failed as a hotel once before the renovation. So If they cant work on being consistent I don't see it lasting. I may or may not go back.
