Main Event is often extremely crowded so your either need reservations or the know-how on when to go. I would suggest day time during a normal week day in the early afternoon might be your best shot if you have a day off and don't want to run into huge crowds. The food and drinks are average, nothing special but nothing offensive. There is a lot to do here: bowling, mini golf, laser tag, arcade, and more. I have yet to do everything here but I'll have to come back in the future. I think the biggest thing is that there is not enough staff here. Please hire more staff. read more

I had the opportunity to check out Main Event during a family outing. Whew where do I start .........first of all the service was terrible in all areas!! There was a wait for bar and food which was understandable, but when we were finally seated nobody came back to our table to wait on us. After waiting patiently for about 20mins I had to get up and ask for someone to serve us. There was also a wait for the food to arrive. We were told p my one server was working the area. Now on to the fun and games. The games were ok, but I prefer Dave and Busters. You would also think due to Covid precautions the building would have a capacity maximum! The building was packed!! No room for social distancing at all!! On top of that there's no staff walking around to sanitize surfaces, games, tables, or bathrooms!! You barely see sanitizing stations. Most games don't work, place is dirty with spills left on the floor in front of games with a wet floor sign just sitting here. Bathrooms are nasty and gross and haven't been maintained like the rest of the place. Staff act like they don't wanna be there and you are inconveniencing them asking them to do their job. I really like Main Event, especially during the week day. The food is actually really good! Salmon and beans I'm sold. I've taken my girls a couple times and they enjoy the video games and the elevated obstacle course. Put money on the card and let them enjoy a couple hours. If you're coming to The Main Event near the Christiana Mall in Newark De for the entertainment, you got the oversized video games and bowling, both are fine. If you're going there for food, keep on going! I ordered the burger, and they did not get the customization right, even though it was ordered and received by computer. The French Fries where undercooked, limp and soggy. If that wasn't bad enough, the Pizza we got was bland and mushy, the cheese was practically non-existent, and the topping we ordered was no where to be found. It was also grossly overpriced. I booked a staff party at Main Event for my office holiday party. The process was easily done through phone and email. There a different packages with different food options and activity options, priced per person In your party. We went with a bowling and buffet combo with a choice of buffet themes. This was definitely a fun alternative for our party opposed to just going and eating somewhere. Overall the party ran very smoothly. The buffet food was placed close by so eating and bowling at the same time was easy. Beverages other than water and tea were purchased by staff on their own by going to the bar. We also brought in a cake from outside for our party. The staff was very friendly and helpful although I think it would help if there was just one staff member devoted to greeting groups and pre-booked parties then showing them where their lanes are and explaining the process. We had a small issue of lingering customers on the lanes we were supposed to be in. The staff at the main entrance had to go back and forth between helping regular walk in customers and dealing with parties. I would recommend giving it a try for a party or event. Bathrooms are so clean and smelled amazing. Hand sanitizer really cleaned my hands. The paper towels dried my hands pleasantly after I washed my hands in the clean sinks. During laser tag, I had wonderful interactions with the lady working it. She made sure everybody that had buggy vests got ones that worked for them. She was very helpful with letting me store my items during the match. The atmosphere was incredible. My friends and I had an amazing time. Sooo my friends and I came here for my last day visiting them and family in Delaware. Let me start if by saying PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME THAT AUTO MESSAGE SAYING "we're sorry to hear about your experience..." blah blah blah. The woman working the front desk was great everything after that was not. My friends and I went to do the gravity thing where it's like a jungle gym (pics attached) and it was so much fun but you need to get a "boarding pass" ticket at the prize station. The lady working the gravity gym part failed to tell us until we got to the front. Once we went to the prize desk there was literally 6 associates there and none of them were helping us until about 3 minutes. After that we decided to get food. THE SERVICE WAS JUST THE WORST! Our first waitress said she would be right with us and didn't come back so another man came and said he will help us. He was nice but you could tell he was just fishing for a tip, which is fine I mean at least he was nice and helpful! After that a third girl came to take our order about 15 minutes after we got our food but she got upset because the other guy did it already (now remember she was a completely different girl than the first one. We had never seen her and she came up to us after our food and was about to take our order). After that we decided to pay. Now this took a whole 20 minutes to happen. The waiter took our cards and said he would be back and took them into the arcade not where their computers are. We thought maybe the computers weren't working. It took home five minutes. After that he came back and said we can pay on the little screen they had that was like a tablet on the table. So we tried but it was not coming up. Once it did it wasn't split like we asked. So he had to get his manager. The manager fixed it but then it would bring up each split check 2 minutes after the other had paid. Finally we all got it paid after the 20 minutes. So then we decided to go laser tagging. That was a whole other ordeal. The lady running the desk for the laser tag was EXTREMELY RUDE! She opened the laser tag and said "don't touch anything" in the rudest way possible. Now I get it maybe she had some bad kids who kept touching the guns and packs too early but don't be rude about it. After that we played and it was great. We decided to do the jungle gym one more time and as we were waiting in line to get strapped up that same girl started talking to the girl who was putting our harnesses on. So she was not only distracting her from doing A very important part of her job( if it's on the wrong way or not right enough and we fall it could hurt us) and then she started getting close to the girl and talking smack, and cursing in front of us. She was obviously playing but the girl who was getting our harness on was saying "I don't give a damn about this job I will get another one" while the other was saying "come at me" and all of this dumb stuff. My friends and I felt very uncomfortable because we were right in the middle of a conversation we didn't want to be and that was meant to be in the break room or something. After that we laser tagged one more time and that same girl was getting mad because people were late. She was saying "they need to hurry up" and much more vulgar things that I don't think I can say in here. Meanwhile the manager from earlier walked by and saw this but did not say a single word to them! So the overall experience I will say was fun because I can brush things off and so can my friends BUT not everyone can do that and if IM PAYING I don't want to hear all of that and get into that and feel uncomfortable because the employees are saying things they shouldn't and are being extremely obnoxious and rude. The food service www horrible, the food was decent but very small portions for the price they give you, and the customer service was just a disgrace. The fact that the manager saw this and probably knows is just wrong. But I'm guessing because there isn't much to do in Delaware to begin with especially this kind of thing they can get away with it. It is a decent price. We got the all activities wrist band which included the pool tables, the gym, and laser tag (not the arcade games) and that's really all you need unless you live the shooting and driving games. It was only $10.95 for that band but I believe it's that price only after 4pm on weekdays. It was not that packed after about 11pm but we got there at 8:45 and it was pretty busy. Not enough though that you had to wait too long to do the activities, the only wait was the food and the service. I'm gonna buck the 1 start trend here... But I do understand... The place is new. There are more people inside than I personally think should be allowed from a safety standpoint. Your child also couldn't possibly use the games and other activities that's there without waiting an obscene amount of time, and also waiting on some of the juvenile adults to finish playing.. Dining is out of the question without a long wait. There's a couple different options there, including a bar. (Must be 21 to enter this Dave and Buster's type of place after 9pm). The bowling area looked nice.. But that was completely booked with parties... I'm giving this place 3 stars just based on it's potential, it's newness, how nice the place is, and hopefully the crowds will die down.. If all of these issues are addressed, I'll probably be proven wrong and will be editing this review!! read more

I would have loved to rate this higher. The place is super loud which is to be expected. It's in a good location near the Christiana Mall. The food was good and reasonably priced. The games were so much fun. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. BUT the service in the dining area was the absolute worst. The service was so bad I almost wrote this post on our way out the door. First the space was so incredibly dirty. For example, under our table was a half eaten chicken bone. Additional there was random napkins and straw wrappers and other nasty trash on the floor. There are ten tables and what look like two servers plus two servers are the bar. There was what look like three employees cleaning tables but they weren't doing anything . We arrived at 8:30ish we found a table and waited u too 8:55 pm for someone to come clean the table. We asked three employees for help eventually someone came and cleaned the table. Then we waited another 15 minutes for someone to take our order. Our food arrived around 9:30 ish. The management of this area was left some to be desired, but thank God the food was good. I probably won't go back for the food but I would definitely go back for the games. We went here on 12/18/23 to celebrate the 50th birthday of my husband. While there, we purchased a $75 arcade pass. Many of the games were broken or so short that it was a complete waste of money. When we asked the manager for a refund of our money, after only being there about 45 minutes, she refused and said that the games were messed up because she had just had a large field trip come through. We were extremely unhappy with how the situation was handled. We would advise anyone who does not want to waste their money to stay far away from Main Event, especially the arcade games! read more

This was my first night going to Main Event and I was so excited. I will never ever return again in my life. If I could give 0 stars I would but it's not an option. We got there and decided to play some arcade games while waiting to bowl. Most machines didn't work and just took our credits. Fine, whatever. We then went to the bar area and sat at a table that was still dirty with food, cups, and trash. We asked a nearby server clearing tables if our table could be cleared. To which she replied, "I don't know what's going on here. But someone requested these 3 tables." We sat there for 20 minutes, no one came over to clear our table and no one came over to greet us. My friend walked to the bar to order a beer while we waited. The bartender said "I can't give you a beer you have to go through your server." My friend said "Well no one has been over. Can I please just order one with you and I'll also still tip both of you I would just like a drink?" The girl got ignorant and said I'm not serving you go through your server. In total, we were in this area for 30 minutes and no one came over to us. We then left and went to order food to take to our bowling lane. We were told we had to order food from a specific limited menu, despite being told by 3 people we could order from the restaurant menu. When speaking to a manager about our concerns she didn't seem concerned with correcting the situation. She didn't offer us a solution. All she kept saying was "Mmmhmmm, yeah. Okay." Finally after 40 minutes of the run around with ordering food and drinks, we start bowling. For the first time in the 2 hours we've been there we're having fun. 3 of our food comes over. My friends daughter goes back to where we ordered food from and she comes over and says "They're out of what you ordered and have to refund you." She had been waiting FORTY MINUTES for this food! So how come no one came over and said anything to her about it earlier?!?! The manager came over and all she kept saying was "You won't talk to me like that, you won't talk to me like that." The reason my friend was getting loud with her is because we had been there for 2 hours and absolutely nothing was being done about our awful awful experience. The only person in that whole building who showed an interest in trying to make our night better was Jim the security guy. Who also came over because they told him to throw my friend out, he said "I'm not throwing her out she paid money for her drinks and I'm going to let her finish them!" Finally after leaving the bowling area to finish out the credits on our cards we were followed by 3 people saying we had to leave. Despite not threatening anyone, not getting violent with anyone. All we wanted to do was finish our drinks that we paid for, because we knew we wouldn't get refunded for anything. Finally they threatened to call the cops for trespassing, again despite having been there for 2 1/2 hours. At this point it was late and such a shitty, awful establishment wasn't worth having the cops come to because they have more important things to handle. The whole place is awful disgusting. Trash everywhere, trash overflowing and tables not cleared or wiped. Cups, napkins, straws, food all over the floor. The staff is beyond lazy and unprofessional. The bartender was behind the bar with customers in sight and was on the phone talking about how her customers are awful and she can't stand them. Then you have staff sitting on the counters, literally sitting on the counters doing absolutely nothing. But there's trash that could be picked up and taken out. In my life I have never seen a more poorly run, more disgusting establishment and every person here should be embarrassed to say they work at Main Event. read more

We were greeted by the manager David who introduced our waitress Taylor to us. Taylor then took us to our party room where they had the buffet set up. We had the Tex-Mex combination. There was plenty of food and it was very good. No one complained. We then spent four hours playing games, in the laser tag room and on the gravity ropes. We never had a problem or a long wait. Once we ordered food, & each got our one drink, the guy literally printed our receipt out, & put it in a cup in front of us & left. Who the hell does that? Horrendous experience over President's Weekend this year. They were way understaffed and the staff that was here was lazy and incompetent. None of the "events" were open. There was nothing to do but pour money into the arcade. When the Gravity Ropes finally opened (after an hour and a half of waiting) the staff was rude and disrespectful to my daughter. I went here with a group of about 20 for a corporate event. Overall it was very ok. The food was meh, everything overall was a bit expensive. We got the fajita option for food, which I would recommend for groups that have vegans, they have a lot of different options. The bar was barely staffed and was very frustrating for our group. Even when it was staffed, the bartender often wasn't paying attention. The activities were fun! My favorite by far was the laser tag - but it's $7 for about a 10 minute game. read more
