Came here for a impromptu corporate outing. It's a new state of the art place. I didn't stay for Bowling but I wanna come back to have fun. The bar food is nothing to write home about the bartender really needed help because she seemed very overwhelmed. I didn't stay to make sure but I don't think our Onions Rings we ordered didn't make it out to us and since our VP was paying I didn't confirmed whether or not we were charged. Nonetheless it's a fine place. Might be a little high in price. Needs better customer service. read more

I went here with a group of about 20 for a corporate event. Overall it was very ok. The food was meh, everything overall was a bit expensive. We got the fajita option for food, which I would recommend for groups that have vegans, they have a lot of different options. The bar was barely staffed and was very frustrating for our group. Even when it was staffed, the bartender often wasn't paying attention. The activities were fun! My favorite by far was the laser tag - but it's $7 for about a 10 minute game. read more

This place has really gone down hill. They have too young of employees who don't care about their job & are there to get paid regardless of service. The food is terrible for birthday parties. The host do not tend to their guest enough. The games are breaking & not being repaired regularly. The smell of marijuana is so strong in a family environment, we had to leave. The bathrooms were extremely dirty & don't seem like they get cleaned or checked regularly. They need to hire people who actually want to work. There's no one there over the age of maybe 23? They take no pride in wanting to keep the place clean & working properly. I had my daughters 5th birthday there 5 years ago & the service was so much better. They need to get new manager & employees. Bathrooms are foul, very gross no toilet seat covers all sanitizer stations are out of sanitizer, paper towels out in family bathroom are out. The lady in charge of Laser tag was rude and ignorant and sat on her phone while we asked questions. A good amount of the laser tag vest were buggy or not working. Just overall an awful experience. We had our daughters 9th birthday party here today and while we did have some trouble before the party it turned out to be awesome !!!! my daughter is so happy ! jaylen helped us with our issue when we first arrived and he was very professional and very helpful with us and our issue !! Our party host was Jonnie and she was very sweet and personable!! We also want to point out the lady who greeted us at the party check in desk . We did not get her name but she was the best !!!! It's unfortunate that I must write this review... much like the many before me, I've fallen victim to garbage service in the dining area. For a manager to not having this issue corrected following review after review of the same issue is insane. My family came in town from Philadelphia to play games and have a great time. Instead we sat for two hours at a dining table waiting for food and all of the kids completely asleep in our arms. When the the food finally came out, it was all wrong. Since we wasted all of our time that we had, we ended up going home. This was the first time I have ever seriously considering just completely walking out. BOTTOM LINE: the service is PATHETIC. If management is paying any attention to their customers, they will implement some type of solution quickly before their food service component becomes a casualty of poor management. I have never seen this terrible of service in quite some time; needs to be addressed. read more

I checked out main event as part of a work-holiday event type thing. Upon entry, I was really impressed! the place is huge, with lots of different things to do, and looks super new & fresh. We had 2 lanes for our group and a food spread of a bunch of things (someone picked, not me). Drinks from the bar required a walk and our own CC. no problem. I didnt eat a lot so i wont review the food but everyone else seemed happy. there was plenty to go around, ill say that! The lanes were nice and the interface was easy to use. the food was set up right on time and was plentiful. they cleaned it up before we were done bowling which was too bad though, since there was a LOT still there. I tried out some games and the pool area too. Why are the pool tables so small? As for the arcade - lots of games to pick from, mostly big new ones but i did manage to find pac man somewhere. I thought the prices were kind of steep for our group thing--the per person cost for some bowling and food was high considering how many of us there were. I am really curious to check this place out on a weekend with some friends; i think it could be fun when its not Friday afternoon corporate holiday time in there LOL overall--people were nice, service was good, the place was clean and fresh and theres plenty of entertainment! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. It's a complete rip off even when it's their $7.99 special. The wait time to bowl was 4 hours, even when you bought the all day pass. It's a mad house when trying to schedule your times to use the lanes and laser tag. Most to all of the games would just take your credits and not let you play. Nothing is organized. My man and I were excited to stop by main event after a little shopping trip to Christiana mall, but we're very disappointed. We had to wait outside in 40 degree weather for 15 minutes to get in, they would benefit from getting outdoor heaters. Half of the games weren't working, no multiplayer, each game costs at least 7.5 points to play, waited twenty minutes for a table and another ten to get served, so we ended up getting up and passing on any food and drinks. The workers were not attentive and kind of rude. Wouldn't recommend and we won't be back. Check out Alley Oops or Lefty's instead. read more

I typically would never go to a place like this because I work with children for a living, and seeing them outside of work gives me immense anxiety. Nonetheless, my girlfriend and I decided to check it out. The reviews we read had our expectations low. However, we wanted to try something new, being bored on a Monday night, and our experience was quite better than most people described. We had the option of choosing between unlimited arcades, or unlimited events. We chose the "events" package because we wanted to try bowling. Despite the largish-sized crowd, we were escorted to our lane almost immediately, and a server greeted us right after we set up our bowling session. The negative criticism about the service is undeserving because, obviously, it's run by young adults. You don't go to an arcade to be delighted by their service. Another thing you don't go to an arcade for: culinary delight. With that said, you will have an AOK time here. You might even have a little fun. Just don't expect 5 star service from teenagers. And, not unlike the DMV, expect a variety of patrons. read more

I'm only giving two stars because I've come here before just to bowl and it was a good experience but we also didn't order food or drinks.. this last experience was awful and I wish I could give 0 stars just for this evening. I went on a Saturday night with 3 other people. Even with a reservation just getting started with bowling was a mess. It took forever to get our lane and shoes. The manager was waving her pen in one of the workers faces bossing her around. Then when we got to our lane there were about 30 pairs of shoes on the booth so we stood there thinking they were cleaning. The server asked us what our issue was and we said there were shoes on our table. She's muttering something under her breath as she's trying to clean. Then we put our shoes on only to find out our lane isn't turned on. So I went back up front to have them turn it on. Then we got bowling and the server came over but we didn't know what we wanted so she said when we were ready to just come up to the computer. Eventually when we were ready I went up and asked if I could order food. The server (different person) said "oh what lane are you on? I'll be right there". She never came. Then we found our original server and ordered nachos. As I'm typing this review we still have not received any nachos. We ordered them over an hour ago. To add to it I don't know if they are unorganized or the computer doesn't tell them but multiple times they came up to us asking if what they had in their hands was something we ordered. At no point was any of it the nachos we ACTUALLY DID ORDER. The bowling lanes are nice but at first the pins were finicky and weren't re-racking themselves. Also, I went to the bar once and got service right away. The second time I went I didn't even get a look my way. I stood there for about 15 mins. Then I figured since I spent $100 for 4 people to bowl that I might as well just go back to my lane. The place itself is nice but I have nothing else to say about Main Event. I came here just this past Saturday around 6pm. It was really busy, but me and my friend had a great time. Easy to get your gameplay card and play the arcade games, which is why we came here for. I thought the variety of games was great and the convenience of swiping your card was cool - (tickets don't come out anymore they load automatically to your card). I used the bathroom here and it was clean, even though the entire place was packed. I was just at Dave n Busters a week ago, and in comparison I think Main Event is way better. The variety of games, the quickness we were able to get in and out really made the experience. The setup of the facility is also way better than Dave n Busters because they're up to date and newer they made use of the space they had. I would come here again and try another activity like lasertag. read more

To me Main event provides top notch excitement for all ages. My son is 12. He had a great time walking the ceiling and doing laser tag. I enjoyed watching and was pleased at how clean it was throughout. The bowling alley is very upscale and offers a little privacy. Prices were surprisingly reasonable and they had a nice area for birthdays & events. Great place for all ages and definitely awesomeness for families. Really wanted to love this place. I mean, I really, really, wanted to love this place. We workout at The Edge right next door and we've never had time to stop over. So, I thought it would be nice to do for my daughters birthday. Six of us hopped in the car from Pennsylvania and excitedly headed to Main Event. That was where the excitement ended. We had a reservation for 2 lanes, for 6 people. 3 on each lane. We also ordered $10.00 game cards for all six guests, and planned to add more money as we played. We arrived slightly early so we used the opportunity to grab a pizza to share while we waited. This is where things began to rapidly decline. The pizza was inedible. I've had better pizza at Chuck E Cheese and Little Caesars. School cafeteria pizza is far better. Ellio's pizza is better. They would've been better served throwing some Digiorno pizza's in an oven and it would've been better. The crust...I don't even feel comfortable calling it crust. It has the consistency and taste of Playdough. The cheese has no flavor. If you placed cardboard on a pizza pan, threw some cheap sauce, and vegan cheese on it...there ya go. That's what this "pizza" tasted like. Six people, one pie, and there were two full slices left, and everyone trashed the pieces they were eating. A waste of $17.00. Bowling wasn't bad, except we only had one lane for six people so we didn't even get to finish a full game before it cut off. Also, someone hit the emergency shutoff and all of the lanes shut off for about five minutes until they could get them back on. My information was taken and I am supposed to be reimbursed for. The verdict is still out on whether or not they will hold up their end. In conclusion, we paid $183.00 for not even a complete game of bowling, broken games, and shi@@y pizza. Thankfully, my daughter still managed to have a good time. Didn't have much to do with this place. It was more so the archery we did prior to going to this money pit. The games are expensive. Not as many choices as other comparable family fun centers. The prices up front are not bad, but you'll end up adding tons of money to your card for games that half work. The gaming area is a lot smaller than what we are used to at Dave and Busters, or Round 1. A large amount of games just took your money and didn't work. I have given two stars for potential. This place has great potential. Hell...put me in the kitchen and I'll turn that part around pronto. Upper level management really needs to do an overhaul. The employees are inattentive, and complacent. They simply would rather talk to each other than help the guests. Get rid of laser tag. Add more games. Staff retraining, or new staff. Complete menu and kitchen overhaul, and this place could be a problem for any fun center. Until they hire me, and/or make some permanent changes I'll stay at Dave and Busters. read more

We made the approx 1 hour trip to Main Event a few months ago to play some Laser Tag and arcade games. My friends and I were very excited as there is little to no Laser Tag options in the area. Upon arrival, there was a sign out front that said the location was "CLOSED FOR PRIVATE EVENT" - what a total buzz kill and waste of hours of our time. There was no indication prior on this locations social media pages that it would be closed for an event, and I had even called earlier that same day for Laser Tag info and pricing - the woman on the phone gave no indication that the place would be closed that evening. Reporting it to their feedback section on the Main Event website got no response.. where's the customer service? read more

Came here with family from out of town and we called ahead. once we arrived the all you can play activity pass was sold out. like really how and why. there was no warning that passes were at a limited capacity. I'm so upset that we can not even play. now on th seating. WOW no one wanted to seat us or serve us. like I came to spend money and was progiyby the lack of willingness by serves and lack of seating. please make notices available to let consumers aware that seating and buying food is not always an option. also I waiting in the main line just to be told to go wait in another extremely long line. Overcrowded. Poor customer service. Poor management of the bowling area. Legit have to wait an entire day to go bowling if you purchase the unlimited pass. There aren't enough bowling lanes for the number of people that come here. The unlimited pass is trash because outside of bowling there isn't much to do after you've climbed the obstacle course and laser tag 10000x times. They basically hold the bowling lanes all day for birthday parties. I actually stood by the bowling area for an hour when supposedly birthday party was next to get the lanes. No.body.ever.took those lanes. I went to the front counter to see what was going on and tell her the unlimited pass is a waste if you can't bowl. She refused to partially refund me or even offer a voucher to come back. I know the weekends ARE packed here but the whole set up of main event is just awful. Those bowling lanes should be split half and half - half for birthday parties (only allow them to use one lane) and half for patrons who bought unlimited passes. AND although it's unlimited they should only let people use the bowling area for like 1.5 hours and rotate to other activities. read more

Came here for a company party a few days ago. This place is really fun, with indoor laser tag, bowling alley, arcade games and the like. Speaking on the company meeting part, they provided us a Mexican themed food with chips, lots of guacamole, queso, chicken quesadillas, fajitas, and sour cream/pico. The drink selections were iced tea and water. What a wonderful night! Came here on a Monday night where they hold a Monday night special. For close to $11 you can do unlimited activities. This includes bowling, zip lining, walking the gravity stairs, and laser tag! Laser tag was the best of these events as it allows for you to suit up in full gear. You watch a little "how to" video in the beginning and then you enter a later tag obstacle course. I came here with a group of ten and we had so much fun running around the course. For another $11 you can get an "unlimited pass" for all the games. This was probably the best deal we received as we played games for almost two hours. There are so many options to choose from and you can stay entertained all night. Just swipe your unlimited card, and go! Drinks were a little pricey, my blue moon was $7.25, but that was expected at a place like this. The food is alright, I'd recommend eat before you come and just enjoy everything else they have to offer. Will definitely be back again! read more

It's really unfortunate to see this place have such bad reviews already since it was so highly anticipated. However, after being there for about half hour I could understand. Went here for a date on a Thursday night around 7pm about a week and a half ago. The place was packed. I was most looking forward to laser tag. There was a very long line which I couldn't quite tell where it ended. I wanted to assess how long it might take and had questions such as how long a laser tag session is and how many people are allowed to play at once. There was no such information posted nor a staff member in sight to ask. We decided to try our chances with bowling instead. There was a 3 hour wait for a lane and it was pretty pricey at $29 per lane plus shoe rental. For 2 people it's not worth the bowling price, if you had 6 people (which is the max) then it's more affordable, but the wait is way too long. Next we were going to try the sky ropes. There was a line, but much shorter than the last 2 activities. It probably would've been a 20 minute wait, but after observing how crowded it was on the ropes and people weren't moving along, it didn't seem worth the wait. We decided to just play arcade games. That didn't last very long as they are quite expensive at an average of $1.50 per play for very short lived excitement. The returns in fun were quickly diminishing as our bellies few hungry. While there are dining options inside the facility, given the prices and wait times it didn't make sense to stay there with so many other eateries in the shopping center. This Main Event sadly outgrew the area very quickly. I gave an extra star because since it is so new maybe they can make improvements. It probably is also more appropriate for children or groups that have hours to kill, than for an adult date night... our bad, lesson learned. This was our 2nd experience, and it was worse than the first. if I could give a -10/10 I would! Family Fun Galaxy in Middletown and Vince's Sports Center in Newark are family fun, transparent, and affordable. Better staff and an overall much more enjoyable experience for the kids. You won't leave feeling like you've been robbed/cheated! Main Event Newark has VERY poor customer service/management and are not transparent with their services. 'All you can play' so long as the staff feels like allowing the kids to play. You spend money for all you can play but will spend more in arcade games while waiting for your reservations to play the things you paid to play (laser tag, gravity ropes, bowling). My kids and others were turned away from AYCP sections because they didn't have a reservation, yet the requested areas were not reserved by anyone and weren't being used by anyone at the time the kids were there. We had to create a reservation and wait 30 minutes to use laser tag when nobody was playing in the area, [politics! Ok we made the reservation, and the kids went to gravity ropes. Again, an area not being used by anyone, one person in the line. Staff wanted us to create another reservation, but made an exception (this time, she said) I asked her, how can we be expected to make reservations each time the kids want to play when we have to make them at every section, every time just to play. She told me the sections run every 20 minutes and that if the time came and the kids were still in one experience to let the staff know at the other experience and our spot would be held. This was not the case! Gravity ropes caused us to miss our reservation for laser tag, we had to wait again which caused us to miss our bowling reservation. The rude 'manager' told me I should've been there when they called me for bowling, but nobody called. Very condescendingly told me 'Well, you're the one who made the reservation!' I didn't know reservations were required to play everything (except the arcade of course) I explained that the staff at gravity ropes told me that our spot would be held if the kids were participating in another experience, but apparently, it's at the discretion of the staff. They make up stuff as they go! Advice to management, priority status to those who have a reservation. If there's still space, allow the kids to enjoy the experience that their parents paid for! So many kids were turned away due to lack of reservation, yet there was space available to accommodate them. At least their parents could shell out more money at the arcade while they waited *shrugs* We were there 2 hours, I spent $115 (this time, 3 kids) and they were able to participate in each experience once. The old white lady that looked like she was straight out of 8 mile was super rude. We waited patiently for drinks for 20 min + every time she was flying around with a attitude super flustered. I'll give it two for the fun factor our group was there for. However, the "restaurant" is horrific. You know things are going to be good when not one but all the chairs have crumbs and food all over them. This usually occurs when a table cleaner just swipes the crap on the table over the sides and hopes for the best. This place needs to decide whether it's remote or in person. There are standard menus as well as digital, for so much hands off service, there were plenty of workers milling about. We managed to order in person, the soda pops are egregiously priced being "unlimited" but ours were half ice and we never did get the refills we were offered but never got when we said 'yes, please'. The food is mediocre at best, purposely small portions in contradiction with price. Cole Slaw came with my meal, I do believe it's the worst I've ever had. Nice bagged slaw mix taste, those cold kept, dehydrated, treated veggies really sang through a sauce I'm not even sure existed. Paying was another debacle, pay a human or machine? The humans kept directing us to the "claw". After all, the claw is our master! The claw had a bit of trouble splitting our check, apparently the one at the apple and bee place will let you go by item. Luckily! Our human said she would be able to do it and said, "gimme your cards". After we paid the screens on our claws still showed we owed, I'd recommend waiting until that charge clears before leaving if you're paying your human. One last odyssey getting a box for food, I had to go and find someone, keep in mind I'm on foot in this laser & loud music wasteland, I find a gaggle of humans and ask for what I need. I end up standing there for minutes, minutes! I watch my food box in this humans hand bouncing from this area to the next, in full sight of me! If it were me, and this is just my opinion, I'd give the food box to the standing patron asap. We boxed up and left. We went to the bar to wait for our lane and the bartender made it very apparent she did not want to be there. After one beverage she gave us our tab and waited a good 5 minutes to take them from us, we had two more drinks at our lane (as a group of 5) and our waitress came over and gave us our tab and let us know that the bartender had cut us off. After 3 drinks total within a 2.5 hour span. Extremely disappointed in this establishment as it has gone downhill tremendously. read more

What a huge let down . We went there last year for a New Years Eve celebration so we decide to return. Well this will be our very last time ever. They shut off the machines , bowling lanes ,Tvs and kicked everyone out 5 before the New Year rang in. Guys in tactical gear and guns telling everyone to leave cause they close at 12. When asked whats going on he rudely says I dont know its above my pay grade. When we asked employees they didnt even know whats going on. Not to mention what sort perception does a person in a bulletproof vest and a gun strapped to his chest say!!! I will tell you what it says... Its says dont bring your family here!!!!! Dont get me wrong I am all about security but this was not the way to do it . The venue looks bigger from the outside than it actually is. Overall, it's okay but definitely not for anyone over 20 something. Pros - Food - We had wings which came out hot and were cooked well. Sauce was good. Burgers looked good and they seemed to be a popular item. Donuts holes are a must for dessert! Service - Our bartender Britni was friendly and efficient. Made great recommendations for food and kept checking on us. Kids - Love kids aa much as anyone but no Kids after 9pm without a parent. Went here on a Thursday around 11am. Place was full of kids from a school trip. To my surprise, 50% of the games were operating! How does a company host a party of school kids with so many machines out of order or should've been out of order. It's ridiculous. Main Event should be ashamed of themselves and give everyone that paid for an arcade card their money back. Basketball machines was missing balls, ping pong ball bucket drop game didn't even give you the balls in time, air hockey table needed to be kicked for the puck to come out, won a 1000 ticket jackpot and it only gave 48 tickets, basketball bingo was out of order, the higher basketball hoop was out of order, skee-ball were missing balls and when it did have balls...they were stuck at the top!, even the photo machine was out of order. The only thing we even remotely enjoyed was the glitch of the game in the back that pushes rolls of tickets towards you. It got stuck and paid out 300 tickets each time no matter what. Even after abusing that it wasn't even worth the trip. Can't imagine how all the parents felt watching their kids play practically nothing for $xx. Never been to a crappier arcade in my life. I went to an retro arcade with games from the 70's in better working condition than this place. They need to just close the place if they can't hire enough workers to work. My friend booked her party here after seeing that it recently opened. (When we went, it was only open for one week). I wish I could give it a 3.5. I will do bullet points to save some time. 1. The line / entry into the place is a MESS. I waited in line, people kept cutting in or trying to in the exit and there was no organization. I get to the front, say I'm there for a party and without checking to see if I was telling the truth, they say "you didn't have to wait, you could have come right to the front." I told my friends this tip as I was the first there. 2. Maybe only 2 people knew what "a booked party room" meant. At first someone took our group to where the pizza is sold and the kids have their children parties and left us there. Then 3 or 4 people later, we found someone who knew where to take us and we got seated in our private room. 3. The food for their catering ( and I'm assuming for their restaurant) is really good! 5. They pack the lazer tag in with WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE. Its almost dangerous, especially when half the crowd is running around even though there's NO RUNNING. 6. Gravity Ropes ..... just don't be afraid of heights, if you are, save your money and time and don't bother. 7. Bowling is SO MUCH FUN. They have a camera and you make funny faces and the computer uses that as the animations on the screen when you bowl. GENIUS!! 8. Overall, the place is fun but I feel like its way too small of a space for the amount of people they pack in there. 9. Delaware State Cops are everywhere, so you know they have crowd control on lock. read more
