Overpriced, overcooked pizza, donut holes, and the chicken wing platter
    Mishawn D.

The last time we visited Main Event was August 2021. The customer service was subpar and they were short staffed, and overpriced. Here was our experience after this afternoon's visit: Customer Service: 8/10 The folks at the bowling counter were decent. They were overwhelmed of course because it was super busy, but they held it together. Our server for our section was very attentive, kind, and efficient. And I appreciated that he checked on our group often. I wished he kept our waters refilled, though. Food: 3/10 For a large pizza, donut holes, and a chicken wing "platter" our total was over $60. It was not worth it. The pizza was lukewarm and overcooked. Pizza Hut or Original Pizza is 100% better! The donut holes were amazing and the chicken wings had good flavor. It was not enough food for three hungry kids and two adults, honestly. Once again, shrinkflation has really impacted the amount of food for the price. You're better off eating before you come or after you leave to save your coins. Activities: 6/10 It was not a shock to me that the place was extremely busy. It's Friday during spring break so we anticipated the crowds. Please do yourself a favor and reserve your activities (especially bowling) online. We did so the night before and I am glad we did. It saves time, money, and the heartache of waiting. Otherwise, it was almost a three hour wait and the line to bowl was out the door. The arcade games were also very busy. Questionable lanes: A previous yelper said the bowling lanes are warped and curve to a certain direction based on what lane you are on and it's true. The bowling balls tend to curve toward the end of the lane before or right after hitting the pins. The gate that sweeps the pins also seemed to malfunction and was hit by a few other bowlers on other lanes, causing the ball to get stuck. Not cool. Overall: 6.5/10 It's Main Event. It's a good time but be ready to spend and do not come hungry. The thing about Main Event is there isn't a multi-event center like this in JoCo so it's always going to be crowded, especially on weekends and when school is out. I wish they would bring back the weekday specials so people won't spend hundreds for a couple hours of fun. If you're just wanting to bowl, there are other bowling places nearby that may not be as fancy but they will definitely not be as crowded and the food may be cheaper and better.

This was a birthday request from the 13yr old. While I enjoy the plethora of activities, it comes at a very steep price. I found the majority of employees to be rude and dismissive. There was a particular experience while waiting for the elevated obstacle course where it took 3 of us Mothers to persuade them to attend their waiting line. The employees were simply busy chatting with each other and could've cared less about the rest of us. We stayed for several hours and refilled the playing cards twice. Played a game of very competitive bowling. Laser tagged three different times. Purchased slushees from the restaurant. Ended our visit cashing in our points in the Prize Shop. Where the price value of the items is not equivalent to the prizes available. I think we walked out with some ninja swords, I could've gotten from the Dollar Store and a squishy ball. Maybe I've been spoiled by Dave and Busters similar themed game stop, especially with a half price Wednesday to help pass the hot summer days away. This place will not be a regular stop for us. It just isn't worth it.

We initially chose it thinking "oh it's v day, people will want to do something nicer than TRH". WRONG. Told a 3 hour wait and we shuffled over to the Olive Garden. Well, this year, I was smart. I went online weeks prior to make a reservation, only to find out that they don't take reservations--only a waitlist. So I plotted. I told myself that I'd start looking at the waitlist starting at 2p for Valentine's Day I kid you not, by 330p, the waitlist was already at 1.25 hours. 30 min later at 4p, the waitlist was at 2hrs. Perfect. 6pm dinner sounds great! We arrived and they seated us within 2 minutes. Our waiter came promptly and checked on us so many times. Salads came out literally within a minute of us ordering. Entrees took five minutes. A wait staff stood there and waited for us to cut into our steaks to ensure that it was to our liking. And we pay at the table on a machine on our own time. We got in and out in 30 minutes. Whoever is the manger/GM know how to manage. Kudos to them for an insanely smooth holiday dinner. Also... a chain restaurant having an almost 4 star review is insane--but now I understand.

I have learned to order extra bacon with my BLT as it is one of the exceptions to the "ample portion" rule. I generally give this place a 4 or 5 stars, but as I am rating this particular experience, it only warrants a 3, due to the lack of attention from our server. We were seated promptly, as always, and our server greated us in a timely fashion. I ordered eggs over easy with biscuits and gravy. I usually have bacon, because theirs is so good, but opted for sausage as our server said the gravy had little sausage, when I asked. Now here's where it gets disappointing. My biscuits, which were huge, had very little gravy, but I didn't get a chance to find out just how little until I moved the tops over to the side, by which time our server had already left. I had finished my eggs, which were perfect, hoping she would return and I could ask for more gravy, but she never made eye contact the two times she passed our table. When she did stop by to ask if we wanted more coffee, she walked away as soon as my wife said no thank you. I started to ask for the gravy, but as soon as she heard the word "no", she was off without a backward glance. When she passed back by, I tried to make eye contact, but she kept her gaze foward and wouldn't look my way. As this is one of my favorite places, I will definitely return, but ask for a different server if seated at this ones table.

It's a lovely restaurant. It seems a bit out of the way with mostly corporate buildings around. The restaurant has a nice modern aesthetic. I like the purple hyacinths hanging from the ceiling in one area. It was very steady for an off time in the afternoon. First, our server Olivia was amazing! Very attentive and we were extra needy this day so I really appreciate her patience. We even dropped food on the floor. Oops! She was so nice about it and cleaned it up immediately. We had customizations and extra requests. No problem for her! She went above and beyond. I hope she sees this because she was such a joy! The food was also very good. We started with the biscuits and one peach compote and one blueberry. Both were yummy. They were traditional drop biscuits and I love a good biscuit! We also had an order of fried green tomatoes on goat cheese grits. You get 4 very large slices. I could only eat one. The grits were yummy but there were not enough of them in relation to the friend green tomatoes. They were also encased by a sauce. I'm guessing a remoulade. I don't really care for remoulade sauce so I'd have removed it had I known it came with the dish. It really overpowered the goat cheese taste in the grits. The tomatoes were very al dente and I would have preferred them cooked a bit more. The dish was still good but my least favorite and I would normally love anything with those ingredients and fried green tomatoes are a favorite so the remoulade (or whatever it was) sauce was a real problem for me. I would definitely get them again without the sauce because they are great otherwise. But that sauce just overpowers every other flavor! I got the chicken tender dinner and others in my party got the bone in fried chicken. Everyone liked their chicken. The tenders were a big size. 4 of them but I hit 2 meals out of them. Everyone liked the Parmesan rosemary potatoes. I really liked the bacon green beans. The only side we weren't impressed with was the Mac and cheese unfortunately. The cheese was not good. We got coffees and a chai. All of them were very good. A bit pricey for the amount you get though. Even with the smaller complaints, I'd still give th a 5 because of the outstanding service and the dishes were overall very good and large portions. We will definitely return and I hope to try out a breakfast item next visit!

We started off with seasonal drink which was a strawberry mimosa and oh my these were delicious. Fruit forward and refreshing. Next we had fried green tomatoes which you rarely find in KC so I was excited. These were done very differently but so good. Breading was crispy and not overly flavored so you could still taste the tomato. Next we had their shrimp and grits. This is why they did not get a 5 star. The shrimp tasted like frozen shrimp from the grocery store. The grits were just ok honestly it was missing something. We make this dish at home and I probably have too high expectations. Also it was served in cast iron and the cast iron skillet was in bad shape as well. Service: our server was very good. Prompt and friendly.

Unfortunately, the service side fell flat. We arrived mid-afternoon around 1:30-2:00, and the restaurant wasn't busy. We asked if we could sit upstairs, and the host seemed confused before telling us it was closed, then seated us directly next to a loud group despite plenty of quieter open tables nearby. A few minutes later, we looked upstairs ourselves and saw multiple occupied tables being actively served...what the heck? The most frustrating part of this experience wasn't the seating, it was the complete indifference from the staff. Drinks didn't arrive until after we had already finished eating, and despite the restaurant being relatively slow, nobody seemed remotely concerned. No urgency or communication. Just a normal day for them, I guess. A kitchen can only carry a restaurant so far when the front-of-house operates with this little care for hospitality. The atmosphere gives the impression of a place that wants to feel polished and upscale, but the service felt lazy and disconnected from the guest experience. Mistakes happen in restaurants. What matters is whether the staff notices and cares enough to fix them. We left wondering how a restaurant with food this solid has become comfortable delivering service this poor.

However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. The Verdict I'm not saying I won't be back, but consider this a fair warning: if Round 2 involves another charred steak and a side of "room temperature" eggs, I'll be sending it back for a rerun faster than a shanked drive into the woods. 3/5 Stars -- Great for people-watching, questionable for potato-equity.

For food, my buddy got the tenderloin sandwich. It wasn't one of those cartoonishly dinosaur-sized portions you see at some places, but he said it was really tasty and well worth it. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with garlic aioli, and it hit the spot. The burger was tender and juicy, the mushrooms were perfectly seasoned, and the bun was toasted (always a nice bonus). Even the fries were perfectly crispy. All in all, I was very pleased with the meal. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other items on the menu!

It's a pretty impressive looking burger! Two patties stacked with all of the fixin's makes for a…read moretall sandwich. The problem with that is it's really a mess to eat. I guess that's what napkins are for. On our visit for a late lunch recently, they weren't very busy and the service was good. I asked for medium temp on my sandwich but what we both got was well-done. The french fries were hot and crispy and I really like the presentation--in a mini fryer basket. I'm hoping the over-cooked hamburger was a fluke and will give them another try. They certainly have a great reputation.
