BEWARE OF THEM STACKING ON PRICES and know what all your insurance benefits are!!!! On August 02, 2023 my daughter and I went to Main Fashion Optical where we were helped by an employee named Stefany Lopez. I went in for contacts and my daughter wanted glasses. With my VSP insurance Stefany told me for the 6 month supply it's $26 and for the year I would pay $150 out of pocket. Then she told me that I was paying about $160 for my daughter's glasses. She charged my card $350. So the lies started here. It took 3 weeks to be able to pick up the contacts and the glasses. They handed me 2 boxes ( 1 box for each eye) when I was supposed to get 4 boxes. Then I looked at the enclosed receipt and I was charged $190 for 2 boxes of contacts. Mind you they use 1800 contacts to order your contacts. So they are adding extra money on top of the discounted price of the contacts. I was told on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 that I couldn't get a refund until I've spoken to Stefany and Maya (the manager). Stefany refused to provide the phone number at the office in Passaic where Maya was working. Maya is the only person who can process a refund. She is prompt when returning phone calls but she's very dismissive. I explained several times what happen and she replied I didn't provide stefany with my insurance. Now how does that make sense when they processed my insurance for my daughter? Then she tried to say I was ordering color contacts and told me it cost $95 per box. That was incorrect because I needed the Alcon air optic for astigmatism and stefany ordered Alcon air optic plus hydraglyde for astigmatism. So my total order is incorrect on top of the charge. Maya calls me back then tried to offer me the contacts for a low price of $80 per box. After that wasn't good enough she said they don't match prices and doesn't use 1800 contacts. That's funny when stefany was able to offer me the contacts at $59.99 per box then times 4= $239.96. So now Stefany want to take that $239.96-$164 (the difference for 6 month supply)=$75.96, but she stated if I would give her $75.96 more dollars it will all be squared away. Now why would I do this or pay anymore money when I've already been overcharged? My insurance covers $130 so how or why would I need to pay $190 or anything extra on top of that. Now Maya calls me back for a 3rd time and finally ask for my husband's info so she can indeed look at my insurance. So the 4th and final time on this day she called me back with an offer she never does. I can get the 2 extra boxes for $170 and she will refund me $20. By doing this she's still not using my insurance but just trying to make me go away and still be out of money. I told her I have 2 boxes and for 2 boxes I will pay $26 and that I want $164 refunded to me when she comes into the office. My daughter's billing was done correctly and I did get refunded but it wasn't a smooth process. It took 3 days to get resolved. The only issue I had with my daughter's glasses was that they billed my insurance company for the polycarbonate lens when that wasn't never discussed. Also, now stefany isn't allowed to now show customers the 1800 contacts pricing. Just shady shady business. I wouldn't recommend this place because of these two. Sorry to the kind lady who works beside stefany. She was extremely pleasant. I wish I knew her name to state it. read more

Sales staff aren't as experienced or consultative as some other optical retailers that I have been to. They had to redo my lenses as the sales associate didn't seem to have the knowledge / experience to appropriately advise me of my options upfront. They ordered lens that were coke bottle thickness. When I questioned the thickness, the sales person said she didn't realize the impact of my Rx and said they could be made thinner for an additional cost. I paid to have them made thinner but when I still wasn't happy with the new lenses, they didn't advise me or help me understand what my options were. Ended up at another store who told me that I should go back to my doctor and have my Rx rechecked. They were right and I got a new Rx. I felt like Main sells glasses. They aren't optimal as advisors or consultants. read more

I first gave it a 1 star review but after calling again the manager agreed to give me a refund but read my review and be aware of the no refund policy. Make sure you have your glasses on to read the timy print on the tiny reciept you sign. I called 2 hours after I left to cancel the scratch resistence on my new glasses since I will be having cataract surgery in a few months and will need new lenses. Even though the glasses were not sent out they said I could not do so because they don't give refunds. Ridiculous. read more

Beware of false advertising! Stopped in today looking for Shuron frames - retro, very cool vibe, 100% made in the US since 1865, high quality. I got this store's location from searching online and somewhere it said they carried Shuron. We go in, get passed to the manager after a salesperson said she hadn't heard of them and then the manager told us she had never heard of them. She asked us to repeat the name twice and she wrote it down as if hearing it for the first time. She warned us twice about false advertising by glass manufacturers and kept insisting that she wasn't lying (even though we didn't even suggest that). Then she asked what insurance we have (irrelevant) and tried to cross sell us on other brands. Seriously? Cell reception in the store is non-existent and we couldn't recreate our info trail so walked back to the car and searched again - and guess whose website says they carry Shuron? Oh that's right, Main Fashion Optical. Right there on the top page "Have you heard of exclusive designer eyewear like OWP, Shuron, and Caviar?". Apparently the warnings about other companies and false advertising was something MFO knows a lot about. We won't be returning. read more

The staff was very friendly and efficient. My dad purchased new progressive glasses there, and the manager and the specialist were great in helping him select the best frame. I felt they gave us the best price, and patiently answered all our questions. Definitely recommend this place to anyone needing to purchase glasses (and ask for Maya-she's amazing!) read more
