I was due for a new pair of glasses and I did some Yelp searches and iLook showed up as one of the top rated glasses stores in the Chinatown area. I was a bit skeptical but decided to give it a try. And the Yelp reviews were legit. The guys at this store are knowledgeable, efficient and amazing at what they do! They looked up my insurance benefits and was able to explained to me what my insurance covers. Within 30 mins, they brought me over to the frames selections and let me have my personal tour/picking of a new pair of glasses. If there is anything for improvement, I just wish they slow down a bit! But overall, I appreciated the no BS and explain to you how it is experience. In total, I paid a little over $200 for a pair of new designer frames with shades glasses in sunlights. 1.5 weeks later I received a call that my glasses are available. They adjusted it and I feel so good in them (my old ones gave me headaches). I have worn glasses since I was 12 and this was the smoothest eye glasses experience I have ever had. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!!! They just tried to scam my daughter and overcharged her. She went in for an eye and contact lens exam and ordered a six month supply of contact lenses. They charged her $220 even though she has insurance. When she called me and told me what happened. I told her to go back in and get a breakdown of the charges. They kept giving her the runaround, and then started speaking in another language only to find out they overcharged her $125. They didn't even apologize for the mistake. Insane!!!!!! I've been coming here for years and their service is always good (at least in the front). I went there the other day and used the restroom first with my friends but the female worker in the back was very rude. She questioned what I was doing there and was also keeping watch on my every movement. Envision you're browsing for glasses and this woman is one feet away from you in every given moment. The contact lenses department in the back needs to be better staffed! Not everyone wears glasses, especially when the prescription is advanced and is an inch thick! I am glad Eye Solutions suggested Natural Shimmer 1-day Acuvue Define lenses for me. Are they circle lenses? Just a natural enhancement of my eyes. My daughter said she prefers my eyes with the Natural Shimmer Define lenses versus no contact lens (from an honest teenager, that is a compliment!) I am still very happy with the snack department. Chips, chocolate, soft drinks, fruit, coffee, cup a noodles, coffee, tea-- awesome! How about some seltzer too? They still accept my insurance and they are always courteous. read more

I am overdue for this review. Please note that this review is for the eyeglasses & staff. I have not seen the Optometrist that works on site. But know that option is available for you, be sure to check with your insurance. At the recommendations of two friends, I started going to Eye Solutions for my eye glasses. I have now been a customer for the past 4 years. The store has a good selection of eye glasses, including designer brands and low bridge fit / Asian Fit glasses. Once you work with the staff for your lenses, you have the possibility of choosing from transition lenses, blue light blocking, anti scratch, etc The staff will always let you know what your insurance covers vs what would be an additional cost. Every staff member that has helped us here has been very friendly and helpful. When I first went to the shop, a customer associate by the name of Eric, helped me out. Each time I would pick up my glasses, he would help in adjusting the eye glasses legs on my frame to be accommodating and not too tight against the head and ears. More recently, Steve and Antonio helped us out. Steve is the manager and works not only at the Mott Street location but other Eye Solutions sites. Steve remembers us from previous visits & because we asked for opinion helped in choosing the right frame for our faces. Antonio is Chinese and also speaks Spanish. A plus for us. Been here 7 times so far. Each time the employees have been professional, attentive, patient, and helpful. Antonio (I think that's his name) is great. It might have to do with the fact that he was my first impression of Eye Solutions and that I've seen him every time I went in, but something about him says "star employee." I feel like he gives off the biggest sense of professionalism among all the employees I've interacted with. Would genuinely be surprised if anyone has ever had anything negative to say about him. The employee who adjusted my glasses on two separate occasions. Didn't get his name, but he's similar in height and size to Antonio, has his hair slicked to one side, wears glasses, and has been seen wearing a white KN-95 face mask. Doesn't seem like a particularly chatty guy but appears to be very hardworking and diligent and was very gentle with me and my glasses. A total heartthrob. I would keep going back to get my glasses adjusted regardless of how well they fit just so I could have him adjust them for me, but fortunately (although not for me) I'm not gonna waste his or anyone else's time for selfish reasons. read more

I love eye solutions and have been going to this particular optical store for years. I took my daughter to pick out a new frame and Steve was extremely helpful. He knew she liked purple and took the time out to find all the purple frames that were available. It is conveniently located on Mott Street. Avoid this place like the plague. After I already paid to have the lens in my frames changed, they told me there was a "0.001%" that they would break my frames. Evidently I'm one in 100,000 because they broke my frames, which were limited edition and can't be bought anywhere. They said that they'd get me the lens again and tried to SELL ME one of their frames after they just broke mine with no recompensation. They flat-out lied and clearly break frames more than one in a 100,000 times and it was irresponsible that they weren't more upfront about the risk. They even only told me their fake 0.001% number after I paid and they had my money. It's extremely misleading and I wouldn't have had the lens in my favorite frames replaced if I had known the real risk. Never returning again and I urge you never to try here. read more

They accept insurance but if you don't have insurance, basic eye exams are just $30. They have a wide selection of frames to choose from and they work patiently to ensure the fit is just right. The waiting is very comfortable and they even have a free snack bar stocked with chips, instant noodles, water, juice, coffee and much more. The staff here is so kind, professional, and efficient. I was in and out for an eye exam in under 20 mins, and they were charging a fraction of the price of what an optometrist in my neighborhood was going to charge. Bonus is, coming all the way to Chinatown gives me the perfect excuse to stop for lunch! They don't take my insurance and I will probably keep coming back here. They fitted glasses for me that I didn't even purchase there, and they guarantee their prescription for up to 6 months (you can come back for free if your prescription isn't right). In the past when I purchased glasses from them, they changed the lenses for free when I realized later it was too strong. I have been coming here for prescription glasses. The one that I am wearing now was done at this place and it has lasted me for more than 3+ years. I need another one for just in case this one breaks. I have already checked other places and this is the only store that has the most variety of Oakley prescription glasses in Chinatown area. I love Oakley because their products are great design, durable, and light weight. Initially, I tried all the Oakley prescription glasses in the display and none of them was a good fit for me. So I asked them if they could order the ones that I was interested at Oakley's website. They said yes. They helped me order the Keel Blade and Tincup Carbon so that I could try both of them on before locking into a frame as the final choice. The staff are fluent in both English and Cantonese as I was initially trying to practice some of my Cantonese and they spoke more fluent than me. Then I switched to English... : ( Both frames arrived to the store. They called me to by to try them on. I tried the Keel Blade and it did not suit me. Oakley made a mistake in sending the TinCup instead of the Tincup Carbon. I could not try out the Tincup Carbon that day. They had to re-order it again from Oakley and it was placed as back-ordered. Luckily there is an Oakley Store in Soho that was carrying the Tincup Carbon. I went there and I tried it on and it suited me. So I told Eye Solutions to go ahead with Tincup Carbon as my final choice for a frame. The waiting area in the back has free WiFi and plugs to charge your phone and chill while you wait for the doctor to be available to see you. Also, they offer free complimentary fruits, coffee, ramen noodles, snacks, and others. Once my glasses were done they called me to pick them up. I picked them up and the glasses are wonderful! The whole process was very smooth for me and I liked it. That's why I come back to this place for Oakley prescription glasses. I've been to a couple of optical stores in Chinatown, & Eye Solutions is by far, the cream of the crop. I recently stopped by to get new lenses installed on frames that I brought elsewhere & the staff, Eric, was super friendly & knowledgeable that I felt like I was in good hands instantly. He quickly walked me through the types of lenses available for my prescription, the cost & the turnaround time. Eric was very easy going & patiently walked me through on how to read my prescription & explained the options that were available. I was in & out of there in about 10 minutes, super fast & efficient. What's great about them is that they don't try to upsell you but rather try their best to find the best "solution" to your current needs(hence Eye Solutions lol), so you're not pressured to buy into something that you're not comfortable with. This not only builds long term relationships for recurring customers but also makes me want to come back the next time I have to update my prescription. My cousin has been coming to Eye Solutions for the last few years & I can see now why that is. If you're in town for a optical/glasses store, I would highly recommend Eye Solutions. I had probably the best experience I've ever had getting glasses. My eyes aren't very good and I recently got eye surgery so I have a lot of needs-- contacts, computer glasses, rec specs for sports and normal everyday glasses to see long distance. Panda was very knowledgeable and accommodating, spending over an hour with me and giving me fantastic advice. He adjusted the frames I had on for free--it was slipping off my face constantly. And previously it was too tight, giving me headaches. He knew exactly how to adjust it so it fit perfectly. When picking out computer glasses he chose frames that matched my facial shape, making a normally long process incredibly simple. For rec specs he went into detail about pros and cons of exercise glasses--the holes on the side of the frame are for anti-fogging, the ends of frames have hooks that can attach to a band so keep from flying off when jumping, and some frames are thicker which may obscure vision when looking up. Like any eye solutions store, this isn't the cheapest method to purchase a new frame with lens or contacts (the cheapest is online for sure), but you get what you pay for. The service here is top notch and the optician (Veronica) who examined my eyes this time taught me a lot about taking care of my eyes. She did extensive examination and explaining on my eyes and after wearing contacts for six years, I finally learned that I have been taking care of my contacts wrong the whole time. She was super helpful in explaining how I could fix the damage and how to take care of my eyes in the future. Veronica was the best optician I've ever visited, I hope she stays! The staff at the front where you choose and purchase your eyeglasses are very professional as well. Because my eye sight is pretty bad, I always like to go for the ultra thin lens which is a steeper price. There's a large variety of frames to choose from, but it can get into the hundreds for just the frame. I do order my contacts here (Acuvue Oaysis) and it's $200 for a 6-month supply and $320 for a 1-year supply - this includes the eye examination fee which is $100 without purchase. read more

I purchased frames and lenses, first it takes over 2 weeks to get your glasses. And second they do not call you, you have to call them. Third, there was something wrong with one lens and it's been over two weeks going into 3rd week and still my glasses aren't ready. But, when it's ready they won't call you, you have to call them. My out of pocket was over $400. Very disappointed in the service and the fact that no one calls you to let you know your glasses are ready or follows-up, only after you've called them to say where's my glasses??? read more

Yesterday, I came back with my boyfriend because he needed a pair of new glasses and eye solutions have become better than ever. They were able to squeeze in my boyfriend for an eye exam right before the doctor went to lunch (they also do walk-ins btw), which was really nice of them. They were patient with us while picking out glasses and found all of my boyfriend's insurance information online (he forgot to bring it in). All in all, really great service. I had an 11am appointment and after arriving 10 minutes late, they had no issue and I was seen within a few minutes of filling out my form (bonus points for taking VSP insurance). There's a whole waiting area with coffee, water, and chips - that already won me over (if it's free, it's me!) Then the optometrist called me in and we went through the exam. I've never experienced such a high tech exam and not that I would really know the difference, but they made it such an enjoyable experience! They gave me a trial pair to try and I'll go back in about a week to confirm my prescription.
