If you've been following my reviews this season, you probably noticed that I've been hanging out a lot in winter spots! That's b/c I love skiing!! And this year was THE YEAR to hit up Vermont for skiing b/c they got more snow than they've gotten in almost a decade--so the skiing was the best east coast skiing I've experienced ever! And, if you're in Vermont skiing, you must drop by Main Mountain Bar & Motel. We weren't staying there as motel guests, but we heard that Main Mount was the place for fancy cocktails... and whoever told us this information was spot on!! Every cocktail we tried at Main was unique and super tasty. My favorite was the Good 'Ol Boy cocktail, but I also recommend the New England Sour--it's like a Whiskey Sour but with Mulled Wine and Cocoa on top. As for atmosphere and service, both are great! The interior decor is more like a cozy (but slightly modern) mountain house library (an atmosphere you might expect in a hip Brooklyn bar), and it's very inviting! And the bartender and servers are amazing and really friendly. As for food, we didn't try any on the first visit, but we ended up going back to Main Mountain on our last night of the trip b/c we found out that, on Sundays, they host a burger night! Ummm... yes!!!! So, we went back, I had another Good Ol' Boy, and we downed some yummy Smash Burgers and French Onion Mac & Cheese! Oh, and PLEASE order a side of their pickles! They are life-changing! Bottom line = check out this bar if you are in Ludlow, Vermont for skiing at Okemo or just visiting for some other reason. You are sure to love it like we did. read more

Full disclosure I received a gift card to this place and I don't drink and live locally. The vibe is great and the service was friendly. People were hanging out with friends and even their dogs around the patio. Cute and comfortable seating for couples, at the bar or a larger table and counter around the back. The drink menu was impressive with so many choices. I was grabbing some dinner takeout and our party got all the hot dog varieties, the wings, and pretzels and beer cheese. The hot dogs were a nice beef dog but the description of them on the menu was considerably better than the actual execution. The pretzels were slightly overcooked but a nice upgrade from what is typically served in places like this. If you're hungry choose elsewhere but if you want a great place for drinks and socializing give it a go. read more

There are bars. And then there are places like Main and Mountain which put those bars to shame. It's unassuming but these bartenders mean business. And during the holidays? They deck the bar out like a scene from Elf. It's gorgeous with a Christmas stuff. They then match it with holiday theme drinks. You can't go wrong with any of them. We loved them all. Expertly crafted. Tasty. In fun themed glasses. Service is friendly and helpful. And the outside fire pits are perfect apres ski. This is just such a great place and unique in town. It's Holiday time and Main and Mountain celebrates Miracle on Main Street decorating their space in the most festive ways. We took our 15 month grandson so that he can experience the grander of the decorations, music and Santa of course. Main and Mountain is a fabulous bar and small bites restaurant. Their parent company is the Homestyle Hostel which is my favorite restaurant in Ludlow!!! We came for a cocktail and the festivities. The Main and Mountain bartenders concoct the best cocktails you will ever have. They are famous for their Good 'Ole Boy which is a bourbon drink with pear nectar, bitters, Amaro and a burnt orange syrup. Simply amazing. Tonight I had the Snowball Manhattan. It actually had a frozen snowball for the ice. It was so amazing with its gingerbread notes. So tasty. We also had the "Grinch" which was a pistachio and rum cocktail. So good. Check it out. So happy they're open Sunday for a cocktail and food after skiing. I only had the Mid-Winter's Old Fashioned and it was fantastic. Maybe should have stayed for their Sunday burger. Nice fire pit outside and good vibe inside. Some guy doing take-out was raving about the ricotta toast. read more

Unexpectedly divine! This spot is cozy and pretty unassuming that they are creating high-end mixology cocktails! We popped in during the holiday season and were blown away by the variety along with the quality of the cocktails. We live in NYC where it's billowing at the seams of great cocktail places, and this spot would hold its own next to any of the greats in NYC. A+++! Fun boutique motel. Great sense of humor and fantastic staff. Everyone we encountered over the course of a week was pleasant and accommodating. Budding great chef in bar. We were able to taste her experimental kimchi fried rice...she put the same dish we had in a 5 star VT restaurant to shame. Bartenders are super talented and made us feel like family. Self serve 24 hour coffee bar was added bonus. Wish there was an easy way to get from Texas to Ludlow, VT but feel sure we will try it again. Our kind of place. read more

The staff are so nice, the decor is 100/10... yes, 100/10. Fun, friendly bar to stop in after hitting up the slopes all day. Indoor & outdoor seating available. The second (minty looking drink) I got was "Christmas Cricket". Tastes minty, a hint of chocolate and oh-so festive!!! My honey and I stayed here for a family wedding. It is owned by a young upbeat couple who want you to enjoy your stay. The place is updated and friendly. Downstairs there is a bar with indoor and outdoor seating. We stayed on the second floor and got a king bed. It was a fairly small room from what I had expected but we were happy with our stay. Walking down Main Street on a cold snowy night, having just finished dinner at the fabulous Mojo Café, we were beckoned inside Main and Mountain for a "digestif" by the warm inviting outside fire. Surprised to find a blue collar attractive bearded man in a black leather apron with high arm tattoo looking like a blacksmith ready to shoe a horse, was our incredibly talented artistic bar tender! Choosing a window table with comfy leather stools, we had exquisite service as our bartender took our orders of creatively crafted drinks! Be warned, there is no food here but snacks of hot dogs and such but that should NOT deter you! Deciding on whiskey/Bourbon for the night I chose the Good Old Boy. It did not disappoint, in fact my brother switched from his drink and ordered one of mine as well! While pricey, it was better than I had expected, and really followed in line for the prices in a small ski town. What a nice bar! My sister has a house in town and wanted to check it out. It's brand spanking new, so everything about this place is sparkling. Four draft beers to choose from as well as bottles. A nice cocktail list. I think there are snacks, but not a full menu. Very friendly bartenders and an adorable puppy. An assortment of games to play. Outside seating with a fire pit. Read both previous reviews and we get it. Craft cocktails are creative and delicious. We arrived before opening and several other groups were waiting with us. The owner/mixologist made an effort to serve us in order. Each cocktail is so carefully crafted that service takes time. Three of us were served while one of waited an eternity for his beverage. We were almost done with the first round by the time he was served. Looking beyond that, all the drink amenities were present: great ice; metal straw; chilied salt. The hummus was delicious. They sell select draft beer and wine but also offer can beers options too. THe best part about this bar is the carefully crafted mixology drink recipes that are one of a kind. This is my first time staying here and it will NOT be my last! I booked a room for a girls overnight stay with my daughter, my mom, and my sister. Having never stayed here before, I based my booking solely on reviews I had seen elsewhere. And let me tell you - one of the best decisions I've made! This hotel is a good and solid location in town at reasonable rates. It is a no flair hotel for skiers who need a room and a shower. This hotel has a bar, but it isn't open all nights. The town is a sleepy town and not a party atmosphere. The bar on THR- SAT does get loud, so keep that in mind. Rooms do not have normal toiletries, but do carry Directv. The location is within walking distance to restaurants and bars. Close 1-2 miles from the slopes. read more

Full disclosure: I had a horrible experience at this place. Why the improved review: they really tried to fix it. During my visit last summer I was ignored at the bar and feel that was because of my race. I wrote a bad review. Not only did the owner not only called me personally to apologize, she organized a full training for her staff. That is what you do to fix problems.
