Shazam scrimp
Amanda E.

Had a positive experience on a Thursday around 5:15. Plenty of tables were available at this time. Our server, Alexis, was wonderful, even curating a mocktail to my liking. For apps, we got the bao wow and shazam shrimp. I always worry that pork belly will be too fatty but theirs was pretty good, and the bao bun was so soft and fluffy. The jalopeno aioli on the shrimp was delicious. For entrees, we got the Bangkock ramen and Thai fried rice. Between the two, I'd definitely recommend the ramen. It wasn't too salty or under salted, and it had a good heat level to it. The fried rice was good but I preferred the ramen.

i used to go VCU and i used to be a hostess at this restaurant and i have ALWAYS COME BACK to eat the malaysian ramen, i get it with tofu. and it's always perfect. after i moved back home to the NOVA area i went on a spree trying to find the perfect coconut ramen, and there is this one spot in herdon that came kinda close. so i deff take advantage of being here whenever i can, because usually when i'm in richmond i am busy by the time they open at 4!! service is always super quick because i know what i want to order. a random health tip just from me: i always ask for hot water and lemon whenever i'm eating something heavy like this to help settle my stomach, so that's what i got!

I decided to write a review after 2 visits: the first one was take-out the second was dine-in. Both times it was pretty packed. It's not a huge place, but definitely a favorite. On the take-out visit, I ordered the Japanese Style Ramen with chasu pork and a soft boiled egg. It was delicious. I had a cold and it was exactly what I needed. On the dine-visit, they sat us at a table at the store-front. What a cute, cozy table. Of course everyone passing by saw us, but who cares. I was slurping my noodles. The waitress was phenomenal. We wanted something with curry, she recommended the Malaysian Style Ramen because it is not spicy and for my friend she suggested the Indonesian Style Ramen. In both, we added the chasu pork and egg. It was even better than the Japanese Style Ramen. It was bursting with flavors. When I say nothing was left, it is true. Overall, the employees, vibe and food there is great! Great little place to eat amazing food. There is so much more to try. Definitely coming back for more. Parking is easy and they have outdoor seating around the corner.

Interesting vibe. Good music. One TV showed some anime and the others were news, dports and whatever. Loved the anime countertops. Menu is quite varied showing some fusion of japanese, chinese, tha, and Vietnamese. Generally speaking that means nothing stands out, but I had the wings and they were good. Service was excellent. It was right after opening so I'm sure this place gets lively later with students. Nice happy hour options. I've been spoiled traveling abroad to all these countries, but this seems to be as good as any other in Richmond. If you want a clean well-lit place to serve a bunch of varied apoetites, with great service (best part), then this is it--lots of good draft choices and even sake choices.

Main St Dragon is a pretty chill spot--definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. I ended up trying the Chinese-style noodles and a basil mojito. The noodles were decent not the most mind-blowing dish I've had flavor wise, but the portion size was solid, and they the food came out surprisingly fast, which I appreciated. The basil mojito, on the other hand, was a bit watered down. It was happy hour at the time so not a dealbreaker for me, but it definitely lacked the punch I was hoping for after work. One thing I'd recommend to the team is updating the menus. I noticed a few seasonal items still listed from previous holidays (and it's well past that now) That said, there's still a lot on the menu Im looking to try, so I'm definitely planning on giving it another go. Looking forward to seeing how it holds up next time.

Lets normalize mommy/daughter dates! Iykyk @mainstdragon Daily HH from 4-7p to include yummy bites (wings $7, gyoza $4, and boom boom shrimp $6) all served piping hot and fresh and a variety of adult beverage specials to include their mimosas for $3 and $5 margaritas! Vibe is on point with good playlist and customer service is top tier! Do yourself a fav and go! #wings #gyoza #boomboomshrimp

I got the drunken noodle ($12) with chasu pork(+$4) off their special menu. Food came out very quick, around 10 minutes. The noodles however were very bland noodles, the sauce was very watery with no flavor. The chasu Pork was very dry and lacked flavor and felt very skimped out on. The staff and service were ok. This had to be a very off night due to the very small crowd of three other patrons in the restaurant, but by far the worst experience I've had here. I have no idea how the overall food quality just went to completely down hill since the last time I was here. Will definitely be sticking to straight ramen dishes if I come back. Malaysian Style Ramen

I came here on a rainy evening and was able to get a spot at the bar. It was busy but not 100% full on a Thursday evening (after regular dinner hours). The bartender was really friendly. I got the Malaysian style ramen and edamame. The ramen was delish + very filling. I was hungry so I ate the whole thing. Edamame was nothing special - I'd probably skip next time. It looked liked they had daily happy hour deals, as well. I liked the comics under the glass at the bar. I don't live in Richmond but it's a place I will come back to when I visit again!

While visiting family for winter break we stopped by here for a late dinner on a cold night. Everything was amazing and fresh! The service was great and fast for a part of six people.

The food looked great, so me and my partner went to try. The food looked great, but personally I didn't like it for the amount it came out to. The squid was cold went it came out, and it tasted okay. The boom boom shrimp was good but nothing extraordinary. The malaysian ramen was good! It was like a yellow curry ramen, which I enjoyed, but the Chashu pork that I ordered with the ramen felt more like a pork shoulder that they tenderized :/ The indonesian ramen(?) was good, but I wouldn't order it again. Overall, it was an okay experience for me personally

I wanted to try Bun Bun for the first time so I stopped in to grab take out and ate there instead. I love that you can see the chefs cooking, the bar was fully stocked and ready to serve. Best bartender ever and the cocktails pair perfectly with the food. Beautiful spacious restaurant, lovely staff and the food was affordable.

The food was okay I got the shrimp satay skewers and the bao wow. They both were a little too sweet. My drink was really good!

Love the food here. Wish had more vegetarian options for the Pho, but current pho options are fantastically flavorful.

They offer a variety of sauces and flavors that really elevate the seafood and make the experience feel unique and interactive. It was such a fun meal to share, comparing each bite and talking through all the different flavors. The service was excellent. Our waitress was knowledgeable about everything we ordered and made great recommendations. The atmosphere is just as impressive. The decor is simple but thoughtfully elevated, and sitting at the bar area feels like you have stepped out of Richmond and into somewhere like New York City. I also love following Lillian on social media to keep up with their latest specials. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves seafood.

Hats off to the staff at Lillian who continue to be wonderful, but now that they have scrapped…read moretheir dollar oyster lunch specials, the food has absolutely nothing to offer. Like too many restaurants in the Scott's Addition area, this is seafood cooked without finesse and then absolutely brutalized with absurd amounts of palate fatiguing, brash, loud flavors. Every item on the menu endeavors to conceal mediocrity in the quality and handling of the ingredients with explosive, overwhelming additives meant to shock you into submission. Things like black garlic and chili oil, raw garlic, sesame seed oil, and punishing heat are inescapable on the menu, which really says to me loud and clear "we do not understand the appeal of seafood, and might have a fundamental misunderstanding about good food in general." I don't exaggerate when I say these dishes would be improved (setting aside things like inability to properly cook octopus) by scaling back the flavors to 5-10% the loudness level they are currently at, to let the ingredients speak, and to make the dining experience less of a punishing marathon with no relief. I have had much subtler and more skillfully balanced dishes at Indian and Thai restaurants, cuisines known for strong flavor profiles. I'm through listening to these Richmond restaurants trying to excuse simply bad food by claiming "that's the nature of the cuisine." In this case, Lillian claims that dishes characterized by these cacophonous competing flavors is "South American." No it isn't - the person conceptualizing the dishes is just a bad chef who doesn't know what he's doing, and at the prices Lillian charges, that's inexcusable. Drowning every dish in flavors that overwhelm the palate is not a way to respect your ingredients or your diner, and only communicates youth and insecurity. Anyone who's eaten widely and knows their ingredients will rightly feel assaulted and insulted by this overpriced, unskilled fare. To anyone who decides to go anyway: Good luck with the digestive distress, and with the taste that will still be left over in your mouth the next morning, no matter how much you brush your teeth.

A must stop in the downtown Richmond area!…read more It's truly a speakeasy with the door posing as a bookshelf. To get in, you must know the password or tell the host a joke that makes him laugh. We were escorted in and quickly noticed that this was more than a speakeasy-it was a full restaurant. We stopped in for drinks, but it was nice to have tapas. I got the popcorn with the Tequilla lime butter, which was the perfect balance of salt. I had a mezcal drink which was perfect! I'm such a fan of mezcal and am excited when I see it on the menu. Our waitress was a delight-super attentive and also a bartender so she was able to answer all of our drink questions. It was very spacious with outdoor seating. Definitely a 10/10 experience. I would definitely go again!

He asked for the password and we, unprepared, had to tell him a joke or an interesting fact. Luckily, my partner had one on hand. The atmosphere was lovely, very reminiscent of a 1920s speakeasy, or at least what you'd imagine it to be like. Our server came by within a few minutes of us being seated. She lacked enthusiasm, unlike the host, unfortunately. Her service turned out to be lackluster as well. We ordered the chicken pot pie and the filet mignon with asparagus. For drinks, the Grape Gatsby and Maine root beer. The food, like our server, lacked appeal. The saving grace was the host and the atmosphere. The view was lovely and the intimacy of the setting was a welcome experience. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding, and it was tasty, though nothing special. The burned odor that we smelled prior to its arrival turned out to be the bread. I can recommend Grandstaff and Stein as an experience, but you should not expect much in the way of culinary delights or exemplary service. We probably won't be back, but if you've never been, it's worth trying at least once.
