I hate that place they should be shut down terrible place to eat my mom n me got sick had to go to the hospital food poisoning I advise everyone don't eat here my friend got food poisoning too save your money

Plain Jane burger, and sweet potato fries

The food wasn't bad for what I got. It tasted like what was described. The burger was under seasoned. The service wasn't bad, but the lady got my order wrong although she was very nice. the water that we got came in dirty cups though.

This is such a cute little diner that has all of the breakfast foods your could dream of served all day! They also have burgers and fries and other goodies too if you're not feeling breakfast. I had their country fried steak that was delicious! The service was quick and always with a smile. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for that small town diner feel with good eats!

Terrific hometown restaurant of days gone by. I used to come here when it was Don Kaffers back in the 80's. I enjoyed an order of biscuits and gravy with side of crispy bacon. The biscuits were super fluffy while the gravy had sausage. I was more than happy with my breakfast and service. This is the kind of place EVERY town needs...keep up the good work....

Carry out Main Street Skillet...first 2017...now last 2020.

This was the very first place we ate when we arrived in July 2017 . I had reported for duty at Scott AFB. It was our first Saturday in a new house, we hadn't really stocked the fridge yet. This little gem was close...that was all we knew. Over the years Main Street became "church"...nearly every Sunday we ate breakfast there (actually only meal we have ever had there...became weird goal to only ever have breakfast). Anyway, over the past few years it was our comfort, something to look forward to. Then comes Covid-19. They closed, like everyone, for a while. Then there were fits and starts, we missed it, in that time we changed our ways, lost a combined 100 lbs. We are getting ready to leave this wonderful little town and head back to the crowded, frantic, rat race of Maryland. There are no Main Street Cafes (that I am aware of), only chain "diners". Maybe we will make it a mission to find one. So this morning we did carry-out (only option) for the first time. Every bite was coming home, every taste exactly like July 2017, even out of a styrofoam box. My favorite employee was still there, first bright smile that ever took care of us there. We are all 3 years older, the smile is still heartwarming. I type with a tear forming in my eye. We will miss Main Street Cafe. It doesn't have to be perfect, no business ever is. It was perfect for us and that is all that matters.

Very DISAPPOINTED with Dinners here! We went back to this West Main Street Cafe for dinner with our friends. My spouse had the 18 oz Porterhouse steak. Steak was very thin and not very tender. My spouse asked for steak to be cooked medium and it was cooked Well done. Then I ordered the Meatloaf dinner. The meatloaf was burnt and did not taste good. It was very Dry and pieces were Burnt! Tasted Terrible! We enjoyed the salad bar and the baked potato. But, we were Very, very Disappointed with our dinners this evening. My advice is Stay with the Breakfast selections. The staff was very Polite, but, I left the restaurant really Hungry .

We had breakfast here this morning. This assuming restaurant is amazing. The food was delicious, hot and so reasonably priced. My husband had a ham & cheese omelet with hash browns. I had the sausage breakfast which came with 4 sausages, 2 eggs and hash brown, it also came with a biscuit and gravy. I did order a side of grits. We both had drinks. The total was 21.42 for all of it. We will back soon!

Good fresh food. Service could be better and the place needs a lot of cleaning and updating

A whole lot of high quality food that's a fraction of the price of other breakfast spots.

    Do they serve Bloody Marys?

No bloody Mary's. They do not have a liquor license. This would be a v8, hot sauce and your personal flask of vodka kind of place. ;)

The order was packaged with care and I decided I'd have to eat in person if it was so good via delivery. Clara B's is housed inside of LongStory coffee just outside downtown Belleville. I've been there for coffee a few times and like the atmosphere there. I've now been to have breakfast a few times. If you go there on a weekend, there is a line to order food by 9am and the tables fill up but food comes out in a reasonable timeframe and people clear out as more come in. You pick up a menu and wait in line and order at the register. Not much wait time. Employees are nice. The smaller menu is full of hearty comforts. I love that their choices for breakfast proteins include a fried chicken breast and brisket. Their bacon is thick and delicious, the kind that melts in your mouth. The biscuits are the southern homemade style that are thick and crumbly, not sweet. I've saved one once to make a perfect strawberry shortcake for two. The duck fat gravy is good, a little watery, but it absorbs well into the biscuits. The breakfast potato fries look amazing and one day I'll try the pancakes. I'm low carbing it right now and I like that I can go in and order eggs and a protein and grab an iced coffee and read. I highly recommend for anyone to stop in for a lovely breakfast/brunch and support this local gem.

Tried again but not much better than first visit. I'd rate 3.5 stars overall…read more The cashier was having a difficult time. Wasn't her, the register wouldn't cooperate. Had to repeat our order three times. I requested a side of bacon. Food arrived; no bacon. Looked at my receipt; no bacon. The manager brought bacon to me for no charge which I appreciated.

Songbird is the Dolly Parton of St. Louis breakfast: bigger stage, brighter lights, same voice…read more I've followed this operation since it was a sandwich pop-up at the Tower Grove Farmers' Market, through the brick-and-mortar in The Grove, and now into its larger home in Tower Grove South. The quality has not wavered once. I ordered what I always order: The Combo (fried eggs, maplewood smoked bacon, cheese, brioche toast), extra egg, extra bacon. Most kitchens treat a fried egg as binary (runny or ruined). Songbird has mastered the middle register: lacy edges with a yolk that stays glossy and intact right up until the first bite. I ordered them over hard, and they came out a bit closer to over medium, but they were just as good as I wanted them to be. The bacon carries real smoke. This is a decadent sandwich, big enough that half of it would make a light breakfast; I wasn't remotely hungry after one, the second half was indulgent. The service made the move too. The hostess still recognizes returning customers, and the bigger room finally lets the dining experience breathe. The service at the table could have been a little warmer as we've had it the past, but it is still professional. I was there with two close college buddies, one of whom declared his latte excellent. I keep meaning to get adventurous with the menu, but it is genuinely hard to find a bacon, egg, and cheese toasted this perfectly, and I'd go twice in one day if given the opportunity. 4.8 A full five arrives the day when I can arrive first thing on a Saturday without a 30 minute wait, honestly, it's hard to get a reservation here because of its popularity. Good for them. Cheers to you, Songbird. Dolly would be proud

*Not accessible *Not kid friendly…read more This location has a lot of improvements to be made. The menu is bland and they deter you from making modifications. I wanted my toast's jam to be on the side and they said no. It was a thick tasteless brick without the jam. The items are not as traditional for a breakfast spot, and when I asked the server what they were known for she said the drinks.... They also run a tight turnaround time so they will make you feel uncomfortable when its time to clear your table and pay the bill because they will tell you the next reservation is in 5minutes. The plates were all different and my guest who got a sandwich had her food come out in a plastic fry basket instead of the nicer plates. Odd. As I mentioned earlier, they are not kid friendly as they don't have a kids menu or kid friendly items like fruit and pancakes. We ordered a side of avocado and chicken sausage as those were the safest for us. Also there are no changing tables in the restrooms. Accessibility note: the entrance is a giant multi-slope and 1 turn ramp into a cramped lobby. The men's restroom is the only one on the main floor and female restroom is tucked far in the backroom inaccessible due to a steep step in the back. It is not wheelchair or walker friendly.
