The hostess was very rude and it's not the first time. It's obvious that the customer is not her top priority. She was checking out one customer when I walked in. Before my other half even entered the door she stopped checking out the other customer and talked loudly over him asking, "is there 2 in your party", she asked twice. There was no other customer in front of me. Then my other half who made it in the door looked at me funny and said " What?" I looked at her and said "yes they're are 2". Then she said "it will be just a few minutes". (Half the tables were empty and clean) I replied "Ok". Then she proceeded to go back to waiting on the customer at the register. So, if that wasn't rude enough, after she finished checking out the customer at the register, another person went up in front of us to the hostess/cashier and started talking about baking and what she did wrong in her food and about personal stuff, the hostess replied "Yes, I'm the baker", and she continued to talk to this other person about what she does, etc. and about some personal stuff. After about a minute or so of listening to her personal conversation and life we decided to leave. We drove down the road a few miles and found another family restaurant, "Butch's Place", that we hadn't been to before and we loved it. The service, prices and food we're all great! We'll be coming to the new restaurant instead of the Cakery Café in the future. read more

The quality and quanity of the food has gone down. I ordered a spicy black bean burger from the menu, but was told they don't have it. I asked if they had a grilled cheese, as it was not on the menu as in the past. She told me yes. It arrived over cooked and greasy and when I asked for pickles, was told they don't do pickles anymore. The fries arrived in a small black dish, which appeared to be re heated. The ice tea was old and cloudy. We finished our subpar meal and the waitress never picked up our plates or asked if I wanted a refill of ice tea. I had to hunt her down to finally get the check. I then noticed that there was a charge for a child's drink. Apparently a child drink does not come with a child's meal. Not a big deal, but one more negative issue.Needless to say, I will NOT be going back to this Main Street Cakery. read more

We went there for a breakfast to-go and came back for a sit-down lunch, it was that great. Homade cooking like it came from mom's kitchen. Nice personable people. Clean establishment. Ample parking right off a main street. Seating in the dining room has nice big windows. We had the breakfast sandwiches. They were ready fast and had a nice amount of bacon. I can't remember if we had lattes or cappuccinos, but they were smooth and hot. Lunch time rolled around and we both ordered the Ruben. The homemade rye and chips were excellent. We also splurged and got the coconut pie. Count us fat and happy customers!!! read more

I've been going to this establishment pretty regularly for the last 3 years. It's always been good and the portion sizes were very good. I just went there today and the food was not good at all, not fresh, and the portion sizes were very small. The portion sizes definitely don't match the prices! They've also made changes to the menu. My daughter and I stopped in at this restaurant on our way thru Erie to Wisconsin. We were suppose to meet family for breakfast but those plans fell thru. We decided to eat here anyway, and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and the food was well prepared. I did order the potato pancakes as side because they didn't have hash browns, but I'm glad I did. The potato pancakes were the best I've had. So order them! I wouldn't hesitate to go back, and if you haven't tried it, it's worth stopping in. While paying the bill, I did eye up their baked goods which looked phenomenal, and I couldn't pass up not getting a blackberry muffin. I will be enjoying that on the long trip home. read more

Who wouldn't want to visit a Cakery?!? So we were traveling and looked at yelp for a place to stop for brunch. The cake photo on the site page won my heart and stomach! We jumped off the highway and within a few minutes we were here. What a great little gem! As you walk in you will be greated with a baked goods counter. Good thing I was eating first or I would have bought several things, I was hungry and it all looked like sugary goodness. Directly past the bakery counter was a coffee bar with a couple of stools and some great choices. Then was the Café. We sat down and received immediate attention and welcoming with cheerful service throughout the visit. Since this is a bakery, they make a lot of their own breads. I ordered the avocado toast with a side of hash browns and then we tried the biscuit with sausage gravy. The toast was from scratch Italian and had awesome dense flavor and chew. The two thick slices with the avocado mash, fresh sliced tomato, basted egg on each and balsamic drizzle was hearty and satisfying. The fresh diced potatoes were good but could have used a bit more cook time. The biscuit was excellent as was the gravy with a rich sausage flavor to it. The mini potato pancakes made a nice hash brown alternative of crispy potato goodness. I wish I still would have had room for cake after that, but my belly was satisfied. Was not impressed with Main Street Cakery. The waitress was rude and failed to refill our drinks. We asked once and she felt her priority was to chat with other staff. Waited 10minutes and still never came by. Finally got up and got our own. Kitchen staff wore no gloves when handling raw chicken and wiped hands on apron. Was really gross. Decided to stop here for lunch. It was so cute inside. All of the pastries and cookies looked delicious inside the glass cases. We ordered the Avocado toast and it was a perfect combination of sweet (Brie cheese ) with a hint of tartness (balsamic). My niece ordered the chicken salad sandwich, we both thought it had a bit too much celery, but it was good. We also had an iced Carmel Macchiato - which was perfect!! Whoa. Waited too long to try this place. Had the meatloaf that was on special. I'm hesitant about meatloaf because the kind I make is hard to beat and theirs met my expectations. Real mashed potatoes! And the best chocolate cake I've ever had. When you think of chocolate cake and everything you hope it would be, this is it. It's the chocolate cake they serve in heaven. I'm hoping someday I can up my rating, but for now it's a three. The service is usually okay and is certainly never rude or anything but the servers are usually pretty young and inexperienced. I don't know if I've ever had the same waitress. Always friendly though, but not always attentive. The place has always been "seat yourself" every time I've been there. It's got a pretty limited seating space so I don't recommend large groups especially if you are going during a busy time or wouldn't mind waiting. They have a booth type of thing along the back wall that could seat a larger party (usually it's broken up into parts so that multiple parties can be seated there) and there's a table toward the front that seats about 6-8 I think. During the summer they have outdoor seating but it's basically in the parking lot. I usually have the pulled pork sandwich because I always have hopes of it being good, but it never really is. The pork never really tastes that fresh (kind of like it's been reheated) and is always on the dry side. And they don't have pickles! I asked for dill pickles and I was told they didn't have any :( I don't know if they NEVER have pickles or if they were just out. The bbq sauce is sticky and dried out. The rolls are pretty good...they are really fresh and homemade but sometimes fall apart...not that I'm a master baker or anything, but I'd recommend a flour with a little higher of a gluten content for the sandwich rolls. The most recent time I was there they held up better than I remember before. The fries are SO GOOD. They are fresh cut and always done perfectly...not soggy!!! But I have gotten them when they are not seasoned at all (which I don't mind at all, I like salting myself) but I've also gotten them where they season them with salt AND pepper so if you're not into pepper just ask. They have lots of homemade desserts!!! After all, they started out as a Cakery. They also serve Marcie's homemade ice cream. read more
